Idea for a brutal video. Only using Not effective moves. Although this might sound easier only using super effective move. Build the team as you like but every hit has to be a super/not effective move. If you attack with a normal effectiveness go back to last save. Challenges start after you get pokeballs.

Wonder trade only run is very common and is super easy. I don't think it'd be a fun run to watch as a challenge video without some other challenge stacked onto it.
@Captain Phantom I did the wonderlocke thing when it was new. The weirdest of teams but sometimes you got hella lucky.
@@Nuclearstomp I like to combine wonderlocke and nuzlocke. I only catch one Pokemon per area, then wonder trade it, and if it faints, I put it in the PC/release it. Might be interesting to see how that turns out for him?

Volty's rollout is really under appreciated. I'm telling you, with a level 60 Volty using roll out I swept the entire Elite Four before. You could probably do the same for Red since Pikachu is up first. As long as you don't get charmed Volty's speed is high enough to sweep the rest at around level 70 - 80 with maxed out roll out.

Rocky has a special place in my heart, even as an Onix it managed to put Red's Snorlax to KO with Strength while the rest of my squad struggled to do it. Eventually I migrated the rom and sav file to mobile My OldBoy emulator (i originally played it using VBA on my laptop) and Rocky finally became Steelix.
Can you trade pokemon in emulators? It makes sense that you could but I've never tried it just figured you couldn't
@@Neceroe the mobile emulators can do that. You could either trade/battle with other people if youre connected to the same WiFi or you can do that "locally" in which you trade/battle with yourself with the same device with compatible games. PC emulators can also trade but its more complicated.

I think he might have trouble emulating them. DS emulation is much smoother than 3DS. It seems like Pokémon challenge runners like to stick to gens 1-5 (especially 2-4 though).

This was a great challange. It would be interesting to do a "Can you beat pokemon(x) without catching a single pokemon. The basis is to only use Pokemon you receive from others (like your starter) and the ones you can buy like the game corner in earlier gens. Sell all pokeballs you find and you have to manage your hms with the pokemon you receive. I figured yellow would be the easiest because you are given every gen 1 starter but later gens would probably be very challenging.

Elven Anbu oh yeah you can do that pretty easily. In fact virtually every one of my play throughs when i was a kid i dod just that. I mean i had hm slaves but every game for the firat three generations i used the starter exclusively. By the time you get to the elite four even without grinding you are way over leveled. But i always chose charmander, cydaquil and torchic and by the elite four i was already in the high 60’s and with all other pokemon in my party like in the 20’s or 30’s. Basically hm slaves and then utility pokemon like someone to know hypnosis and stuff like that. The starters are definitely in the upper third as far as power level so that wouldnt be a problem at all for someone to do, like i said easily 10 or more playthroughs of mine when i was younger i did that because i loved being overleveled and having an absolute animal of a single viable pokemon
Edit: i guess i didnt fully read what you said, yes that would be an interesting challenge for sure. I feel like you could probably do it, but this is something he should do!
Oooh I like the game corner Pokemon only challenge idea. Might do it on Crystal Clear as you can select a Porygon as your starter and then get the rest of your team once you get to either Goldenrod or Celedon depending which region you start in. But then one rule with it being the open world hack; it still has to be played in the same order as Gen 2 normally is played. With a bonus challenge at the end; Beat all the Gym Leaders a second time at their best.

I don't know what you have against teaching your Pokemon TMs but Headbutt and Dig would make a lot of your Johto challenges a LOT easier lol. There's also the elemental punches and Earthquake. Great stuff but I really do feel like you make these challenges more difficult than they should be.

Try using only baby pokemon in hg/ss, there are many gen 4 babies like bonsly and riolu
riolu isn't a baby-pokemon scince it came out in the same generation as lucario.
Same for togepi btw.

For the challenges where you can use more than one Pokemon, consider adding the “Batlle Style must be on Set” to the ruleset for more challenge
Don't do this in pokemon emerald because you have to use the seedot line until before the 6th gym where you get plusle for a volbeat (which is a 1% encounter rate on route 117). You finally get another good pokemon at pacifalog being horsea.

I know this is really late, but I still feel this needs to be said:
Ice Punch on Muscle wouldn't have helped. In generations 1 through 3 Physical/Special was determined solely by the move's type. Which, in this case, means that Ice Punch would be running off Machoke's abysmal Special Attack, not its Physical.
Challenge idea : playing a game where you can only use pokemon given to you for free (example in kalos you get a free second starter and lucario)
Edit: (spelling mistake) and you could also add a no evolving or healing rule to make it more difficult
I did that for Kalos. My team was Chesnaught, Charizard, Tyrantrum, Lapras, Lucario and the Xerneas you cant not catch. It's an easy challenge in Kalos, near impossible in gens like 3

Once did a run of Soul Silver with 'Rocky' but used a metal coat with another game. Having a Steelix at such a low level was a godsend - the steel/ground typing made every team rocket segment an absolute piece of piss!

I learned something new today.
I would have used the Earthquake TM on Rhydon as soon as you found it.
I mean we are talking about person who just deleted/didn't learn Foresight before Morty's gym and cried that none of his Pokemon can hit him. I think because of that Machoke would be much better with, considering Rhydon still learns EQ at 65.
He also didn't use dig to beat morty. Or rain dance to make thunder a sure hit.
Forgive the guy for not knowing every nook and cranny of the game, not like he didn't keep it entertaining for us!

A fun challenge could be "Mah-dry-bread's day-care" where you play through platinum with only baby pokemon, your starter choice is "Mime Jr, Bonsly or Munchlax" No evolving tho ;)

Lord Hoth_09 yes, although im not sure when the double types and the double super effective moves started. Dude i always hated firespin with my charizard in gen 1. It was always replaced by fire blast and i only kept it until i got the fire blast tm. And im sure in some runs i already had fire blast so i just forgot it before i learned it. But i always thought it was such a worthless move to learn at like level 55 or whenever it learned it, i remember the 9 year old me being so pissed that the final fire move charizard learned was such hot garbage

6:38 Machoke can hit ghosts if you teach her the move Dig. You can get TM 28 (Dig) in National Park.
Or just use Foresight like a normal person, which it learned at 25.

I would've taught it to Onix, but either 1 is valid. Dig 1 shots Morty's entire gym.
@@mjm3091 I don't think "normal" people would consider using Foresight because only 4 evolution lines at that stage of the game (Hoothoot, Yanma, Machop, and Venonat) can learn the move. Even then, Hoothoot, Machop, and Venonat have the options of Dig, Mud Slap, and Confusion which destroys Morty's team with super effective damage.

I just visualized an Onyx and a Machoke chucking rocks at pokemon while Don steps on some poor bug type pokemon. At the same time an Electrode rolls around like a flipping idiot. This has been the highlight of my day and I feel as if everyone should know this.
The chance of thunder causing paralysis is actually not that bad, its 30%.
And that's why GSC is infested with Thunders.

Fun fact. In some games, if you have a disobedient pokemon but it has Quick Attack, just use that. Since Quick Attack has Priority, it ignores Speed, and is some games, along the with its obedience level.

The bothersome thing about this is that...BOTH of them are technically correct. So you just have to choose which option you prefer.

The Burnt Tower is optional in Gold/Silver, you're only required to release the Legendary beasts from the Tower in Crystal (since Suicune is the center of the game), and in Crystal, Morty is hanging around in the Burnt Tower until the three beasts are released, so you won't be able to fight him until then.
