Elliot aka Matt 😂 sorry we didn’t capture your name and I thought it was Matt so apologies - we said what a great memory you gave - I will pin your comment so your name is forever corrected 😂😂
Hi Elliot - We thought your knowledge was exceptional and you really immersed us in the history. We really tested your knowledge and felt there wasnt anything we could ask you that you wouldnt know. So thank you. Jane 😊
@rzted9559 that do makes this video worthwhile - you should be proud as he was brilliant he knew his stuff and showed passion but above all he was approachable and thinking about us …
Yes I don’t know if you saw my pinned comment he replied and then his dad did to - that made us making the video even more worthwhile although I got his name wrong Thanks for watching
Great memories for me. We visited Vimy in 1982. My daughter was two and the warden told her off for walking on the grass! We were told, true or not, that the Germans and Canadians actually shared cigarettes in no man's land in between the fighting!
It's well documented this happened in other places isn't it so it wouldn't surprise me that that was true. Vimy leaves a lasting memory doesn't it - Jane
Thank you both of you for sharing a very interesting video, all the history part with the fantastic Monument, the underground guided tour, Jane's visit to a supermarket (loved the area with all the gadgets) and the final show of hot air balloons and paragliders!!!! Keep safe.!!!
Takes your breath away dunnit! All those names! You've got to watch those dragonflies. I had one that kicked me as it flew past once!!! Ooooh! Look at that sunset! Cheers you two! 😁
Great video. Haven’t watched a lot of RUclips vids recently so have a lot of catching up to do. Haven’t been to Vimy but we could clearly see the memorial from miles away on the other side of the valley when returning from a coach holiday in Italy. I got emotional seeing the craters, etc. so many young lives lost. Looking forward to Douai next. Had a works trip there 40 years ago so my memories need a refresh. 👍🏻
Yes - to preserve the craters whilst sad is also a reminder - the memorial I have to say was the best I have seen Thankyou for watching but above all commenting
Such an interesting place to visit and such history, if not sad. Karl already has it earmarked for when he goes back in the Spring. Cracking park up, I would really like it there. Shame it was so warm though. Yep, Karl said he knows all too well about the shops being shut on a Sunday 😂
Thanks for watching - it’s a stunning monument that takes your breath away to be honest …. If Karl goes just make sure he goes on the free tour as that’s the only way to get in the tunnels
Hi Jane, Stu, We are really enjoying your videos. I'm glad you are now so comfortable with the driving and the wild camping, it makes us miss Nemo, can't wait for our next trip in May.
Another great watch. That monument on the hill was so striking, and the underground tunnels, great tour. I've got to say, I do love a good French supermarket, I'm a man, so I shouldn't admit that should I? 😂 See you next soaking up the rays. 👍🐸
Thanks for watching - the monument is the most striking I have seen it was superbly design and built Tunnel tour was free but the lad was super knowledgeable which was nice to see Re shopping - oh dear 😅
I’m with you Jane, can’t myself & look at everything. Lol That statue for the Canadians is amazing & so beautiful. I’ve never heard of that particular part off the war. I must try & find out where he was stationed in France. Your last video & this was has definitely got me motivated. Thanks. Terrific video Lynne Victoria Australia 🇦🇺🐨👋🏻💙💜
Thanks is for watching if you have his name and regiment that’s a good start - my brother in law likes finding war stuff he may know where to look - by all means send me his name and regiment and serving date you never know
Soo he to my brother in law who has done a lot if ancestry work and has sent the following 1. Commonwealth war graves is a good start www.cwgc.org/ 2. He has offered to do some digging for you - he says ‘If you can get the fellas name and unit I'll see if I can find him in the 'burned papers'... i.e the WW1 records that did survive.’ ‘ date of birth is key ‘ Obviously will leave to you if you want him to have a go - if you decide to take him up email any details to getawaygeese@btinternet.com rather than on here etc
What a great tranquil park up. That is brilliant to have all the doors open. Nice spot to overnight. And to return to 😂. OMG. The cows. Scary cow noise Stew 😂 Nice vlog guys. Thank you 🧙♂️🚐👍🙏
Your vlogs are just getting better and better. Loved the history of WW1 battlefields and that memorial the sculptures were so beautiful. Jane I would have spent a couple of hours in that hypermarket. I always like to visit the supermarkets and shops when I travel abroad.
So occasionally we go on a site but we follow a very basic routine of steaming cloths and basically having a good old fashion strip wash regularly - it’s absolutely fine and worked for centuries 😂
Would it not help you as part of your overtaking when driving on the right side road to fit a forward facing narrow field camera on your left hand mirror back to a small screen on the dashboard You only have to move the van over a few inches to look down the road that onward traffic come in towards you stopping you from overtaking just an idea love your videos.
Yes I realised after I produced my maths was out - I was trying to mentally do it as I spoke and failed Thanks for watching hope it didn’t spoil your enjoyment
Oh my gosh!!! I was your tour guide in the video! It gives me great joy to hear how much you enjoyed your experience, it was a pleasure having you!

Proud dad here. Good fun to see Elliot in your video. It's been twenty years since I was at Vimy, when E was barely 3yrs old.
@rzted9559 that do makes this video worthwhile - you should be proud as he was brilliant he knew his stuff and showed passion but above all he was approachable and thinking about us …
What a stunning memorial. The treatment of the folds of fabric is unbelievable!
Yes it’s the biggest and best sculpture memorial I have seen - thanks for watching
Hi Jane and Stew, well done to your young tour guide, it's good to see the younger generation putting in the time to learn about the history.
Yes I don’t know if you saw my pinned comment he replied and then his dad did to - that made us making the video even more worthwhile although I got his name wrong

Good luck with the heat, I'm living in a caravan here in New Zealand, last night at 10.00pm inside it was 36 degrees.
Wow - Jane was used to that heat when she was in Perth - hope it cools down for you. - thanks for watching
@@getawaygeese It's more the humidity that's the problem, I'm off to the deep south in a week, so that should cure that.
@kiwihib have a great trip
That humidity can be a killer can't it. Perth could be so hot sometimes 🥵 not sure how I coped looking back with the high 40's. Jane

Hi there. Stu, really like your green peaked cap. Where did you buy it?
The best random question ever 😂 well I love it it’s an American style army hat

Looks very stylish
I think you need to check your maths, 120 to 130 years ago? That was before the war started.
Yes I realised after I produced my maths was out - I was trying to mentally do it as I spoke and failed
