Firstly, well done for still speaking to each other. If this had been me and hubby we’d be sat in silence by now 😂 secondly, I’m partially with Jane - she needed stew to not be so close so she could see better but ‘pull out’ was confusing - sorry Jane

Sorry Jane you were wrong. You shouted " pull out NOW!" That was a clear instruction which Stew obeyed. Having said that, no driver should make any manoeuvre based on someone else's word so Stew shouldn't have asked you to make his decision for him. I have been driving a RHD car in France for 15 years now and I have learned to just be patient and wait until I can see properly and I don't worry about anyone behind me, The French are used to agricultural vehicles causing little convoys on the country roads. Love your videos, nice mixture and very entertaining.😊
Thanks hopefully people will learn n by our mistake and as the driver as you say it’s my responsibility- we took lessons learned forward and communication improved especially at junctions
I agree with jane. I think you needed to give some more distance from the vehicle in front. Then "pull out" slightly when it seems clear enough to have a better look, then Go if there is enough time!
That was exactly my thought process. I think in hindsight though I should have said "edge out" 😳. The good news is we now know exactly what the other one means 😂😂 Jane
Have a chat and pre-agree what instructions mean just don’t use NO and GO for obvious reasons. For a safe overtake you hang back so that you have a good view down both sides of the vehicle in front. Police drivers are taught to move their vehicle to get a better look. Hanging well back makes this safer. When the overtake is on you move out and overtake 👍

Jane was wrong in what she said to pull out, but the situation wouldn’t have arisen if Stew had done as Jane asked numerous times and dropped back. We’ve decided that you were both to blame. Good video
Pull out now means it’s good to go to me, sorry Jane. However Stew you should have understood that Jane was correct in saying if you hang back she’ll be able to see if it’s safe to overtake. A resounding 50:50 for me 😊
Team Stew. I was wanting to vote for Jane beacause she is always right otherwise. But I can't. I interpreted "Pull back" as "Put distance between us and that truck so I can see down the road." After that and in context, I thought "Pull out" meant as "All clear. Now go and pass that truck." The idea of "Pull out" meaning, "Cross the center line so I can see" never occurred. Love your channel!
I don’t know what sat nav system Harry uses, but I find when one system goes loopy, I try another. Eg. I use my phone for navigation in Oz for work. My go to is the Apple map on my phone, & when that goes off I try Google maps. If that’s no good I try Where is. Although, you’re very seasoned van lifers, so I’m sure you’ve got it sorted! 😊
Seasoned I am not sure we’re always learning 😂 Harry sat nav definitely puts us in a few interesting places and Google maps is our go to when all else fails Thanks for watching
Jane, you are absolutely RIGHT! Sorry Stew but you were far to close to the tractor which limited the field of view. Maybe agree before hand on overtaking and manoeuvring commands but Jane had said she couldn’t see properly so you assumed incorrectly that pull out meant overtake.
This exactly. But in hindsight perhaps I could of phrased it better. I could see it was safe to go over the line for some distance but beyond that I couldn't so we needed to pull out before we could both see. We now have overtaking terms down to a fine art and learnt, as usual, the hard way. Jane 😊
@@getawaygeese that’s the way we all normally learn 🤣 I’m a big fan of defensive driving, especially for us Brits abroad. It could have been so much worse if the tractor had harshly braked whilst you were discussing the situation as Stew had very little margin for error. Avoiding situations is far better and having an escape route is essential. We all do it though.
Hi Jane and Stew, I'm sorry Jane, but it's two votes for Stew from the Black's. My wife Bella doesn't usually watch you tube but came in the room when the "discussion" was going on. To let you understand, Bella is the Scottish incarnation of Hyacinth Bucket, if the car in front of us is 100 yards away and the brake lights go on. Oh my god, we're going to die, al the trim on her side has stress marks with her pulling on it. A brilliant episode, more please.
A - Jane was right. Stu, if you'd been driving on the left side of the road; you'd have dropped back for a wider view, eased across the line a bit to verify, and then made the decision whether to overtake. You've just done that thousands of times, so that it all seems automatic now - until you were on the right side of the road, the driving function became separate from the viewing function, and you had to coordinate two sets of eyes & brains. That's not an easy thing to do; and practice (& forbearance) make perfect.
Should have just pulled over somewhere & had a cuppa! Still, great example of a situation which is probably more common than not, driving RHD in LHD rules! Cheers & thanks!
Well we show it as it is and I realise if I had been further back then the situation would of been a lot calmer - thanks for watching and taking time to comment
Spiders in the mirrors. Happens with Fiat as well. Pull out can be interpreted two ways. Pull out to me (G) can be similar to go. Unless pre agreed. I would agree with Stew, except that he should have dropped back to make the view easier. Great vlog again guys. 🧙♂️🚐👍🙏
Stew was right. Passengers should not be involved in driving decisions regardless of if abroad or not. Women passengers well lets not get started on that haha (runs off and hides!). Great job guys!
Karl said straight away you were too close Stew, but he said Jane did say pull out so you pulled out. So he said you're both in the wrong. I agree that Stew was too close for Jane to have decent visibility, but when Jane said pull out, she probably should have said "move out a bit cos I can't see shit!" 😂 So I think you're both in the wrong too, but then if Stew had been further back in the first place, maybe the whole thing woundn't have happened, which technically means Stew is at fault!
Lol that’s a b c but I agree we shouldn’t be there so it’s b - I should not of put us in that position I am going to jump in harbour now as sentence is past
😂 wise choose - it caused a big debate but fun - reality was I should of been a lot further back and that would of not caused the issue to start with - thanks for watching
C. Both wrong for not agreeing on vocabulary. We use "edge out" and "good to go" no need for a drop back as I never drive close. Another good post though, enjoyed the glass factory and facts.
Totally agree with that. Edge out in my mind came out as Pull out 🤦♀️. But in hindsight ..... Pleased to report that from day forth we knew the procedure 😂 jane
Paused at 6:37. Jane was right. To be fair Stu shouldn’t have been so close behind the vehicle in front therefore allowing Stu or Jane to be able to see if it was clear to overtake. As a driver it is your responsibility. Saying ‘clear’ would signify it is safe to proceed but ultimately Stu should check to make sure it is clear to do so before manoeuvring #teamjane
Thanks for watching and your votes noted - to be fair I should of not. Erin that close and as you say ultimately my responsibility Hopefully others will learn from my mistake
I think on reflection by saying Pull out I was meaning "edge out" (which i could see was safe to do) so I could see further. Taught us a valuable lesson 😱. Jane 😊
Steady on lads! Always play it safe and never be in a hurry in such a situation - especially in a RH drive vehicle. You’re on holiday. There is no rush. In such situations we would be pulling in to the roadside for a coffee and let the farmer off - but we have a left hand drive van. PS - Jane was right ha ha but maybe could have been a little more clear in communicating. One needs to allow a generous amount of space in such situations.
@@getawaygeese …having said all that, I also understand Srew’s frustration. Always best for a driver to not make hurried decisions and remain fully in control.
Come on Stew, Jane is always right! But this time both were wrong, you should have talked about the wording before now because you have to rely on your passenger. great video, many thanks for sharing ATB
Your actions were good Jane, but I think the choice of words were wrong. 🤣🤣 That is one situation I have dreaded getting myself into, as I travel alone, 😬 fortunately it hasn't happened yet 🤞 Changing the subject, that glassworks looked fascinating, and that park up for lunch was great (well done Stu) 👍🐸
B So sorry Jane but I think Stew was right. My understanding of your communication was to pull out and even though you didn’t say go it was inferred. Loved the glass works, people are so talented. Take care Gill
Thanks hill for watching - whilst a bit of fun we actually learnt from the incident and tightened up our communication and hopefully others may learn from our mistake
The small car was probably an AXAM limited to 50kph which in France can be driven without a driving licence. I'm with Jane, she asked Stew to pull back several times, which had he have done, both of you could have had a better view of the road ahead and the ability to build speed speed up before fully pulling out so overtaking quicker. However "pull out" was not the best choice of words.
Thanks for commenting - not heard of those before - he was enjoying himself whatever it was Your vote is noted and I realise I should of not been as close and ultimately my responsibility
That was funny. Note though that a passenger should never be involved in decision making whilst driving. Especially abroad which can be more stressful. The worrying signs were there in earlier videos when relying on “clear” instructions at roundabouts!!! You shouldn’t be trying to overtake in that situation anyway. Good entertainment though and I’m sure you got more used to driving on the right after a while. Safe travels!
I think you both had a bit of fault here. Stew didn’t understand what Jane was intending. Stew…you were way too close behind the truck for Jane to do what you needed her to do. My take? Jane…be more specific. “edge out so I can see” would’ve worked. Stew…help your spotter spot. She can’t spot without the right tools.
Jane was right, you needed to pull back a bit so she could have a better view of the road ahead. We also drive a right hand drive in Cyprus, and when we go to Greece for holidays we take our 4x4 pickup truck for touring. And I have great faith with my wife to guide me out on overtaking. Just relax and enjoy your time together. Love the videos keep up the good work you both do.
The main thing is that you’re both alive after the drive and you’ve both learned what to say and do as you adventure along. I’m not sure I could drive on the right 😬😬
I,m going 50 / 50 .... but perhaps EASE OUT would of been a better option, its all a learning curve😅 . A great vlog, the wild camping we find is the same all over europe. Please give some details of where you are staying near Amsterdam as we want to visit on our way up to Nordkapp.❤ H.
I think just as you say my usage of "Pull out" was wrong as ease out was what I was trying to achieve in my head. Working on my communication skills 😱jane Stew will reply with the Amsterdam question
Well Jane says she would feel better being on the kerb side so if you have a choice then it makes sense especially if you will spend your time there - thanks for watching and an interesting question you pose for others
From 2 people who have experience of relying on the other when driving on the opposite side, while we can see errors from both sides, my wife and I would both take it from Jane's clear instruction "Right pull out now" would mean that you could see and it was clear to go so we'd have to lean towards Stu being right to go so 2 votes for Stu from us, sorry Jane! Great video as always guys, well done and hope you're enjoying our lovely emerald isle at the moment!
Hold on a minute - don't the rules state one vote per household 😂. I'm working on my communication skills as I type. Having said that we were pretty clear on who meant what after this. We are having the best time as always thank you. Jane
I think that is what caused the problem. Personally I would never go until they'd pulled out and could give me 100%. But looks like I'm in the minority 😱 Jane 😊
Stu… you’re definitely right mate, plain English.. pull out means just that, and of course it is utterly impossible for the male of our species to be wrong, it’s the law. We held a court in the pub with 27 jurors and they all agreed Stu was right 100%. One woman wanted to be on the jury but someone locked her in the toilet so she was unable to vote, however another vote on what she would have said concluded she would have agreed with us. 😂😂
Thanks for watching - whilst a bit of fun we actually took sone lessons forward in the trip on communication and hopefully others may learn from our mistake
Firstly, another great vlog with much amusement derived by us ! The tiny little ambling car around 2.02 was possibly (difficult to tell from that view) a voiturette, or sans permis as the Frech often call them, (no licence required - tiny engine, very restricted speed) of which there are quite a lot in France. As no licence is required they enable people who have lost their licence , or those who don't have one of course, to get (back) onto the road in a limited way, in order to be able to maintain job/way of life etc. Re: the err ... discussion, let's call it, we both think answer C, because we feel that you both should have set the 'rules' for that situation at the start of the trip.
Well I said to Karl, where are all the tourists when you were at the glass place. He said they've crashed cos their wife told them to pull out 😂😂 That was a perfect spot for your dinner. Very nice.
Originally I would have said B however Stew said pull out AND overtake which are two distinct actions to me, so I would finally say A. Agreed, Stew needs to 'hang back' a little to give Jane a clear view, not too far as I'm not sure how much oomph Harry has to overtake quickly & safely? Perhaps you need to google translate each other. Never a dull episode guys.
This was exactly the issue. I felt I only gave one instruction. I think in hindsight though I could have said what I meant in a more precise way. Wonder if Stew will let me vote 😂 I can see we both didn't handle it great. Good news is that we have it down to a fine art now. Jane
That's what I didn't get. Pull out doesn't mean go. In hindsight I should have said "edge out so I can see" i think though. The good news is we were crystal clear after this episode 😱 jane 😊
Jane was right, Stuart was driving too close behind the truck in front, yikes. What Jane should be saying is "pull left a little so I can see the lane clearly". Then "go". #teamJane
I think we both had lessons to learn although if I hadn’t been so close and also it was my ultimate responsibility Thanks for watching hope all is well
Perhaps when traveling in a situation like that people need to be ABSOLUTELY CLEAR with instructions. I think both were unsure/ wrong if you need a negative label. The command was unclear and the person obeying should not have pulled out since he had not understood the command clearly. I am just pleased that there was no accident.
Definitely stu was right, agree he should have pulled back more but to be told "Right pull out now" I would also have pulled out with the intention of overtaking. What made me laugh was i am tilting my head to the left to try see down the side of the tractor lol.
Jane right she said to pull back & you didn’t. Sorry Stew. I was going to say C just so I can sit on the fence. I’m a Liberian so I see both side. Can’t. Pull back. Lol. Cheers Lynne Victoria Australia 🇦🇺🐨👋🏻💜💙
Agreed unfortunately it’s not lol 😂 we finally sorted it and it was my fault (stew) and responsiblity I should not of been that close Thanks for watching
C #1 you both should have communicated beforehand the strategy for over taking, hence the confusion. #2 far too close to vehicle in front. The further back will allow a much longer view down the road. Those Microcars are a PITA! As they are so slow. However, the French love them
I agree with C myself in hindsight 😂 I should have said "ease out" as thats what i meant 🤦♀️. Needless to say we understood each other perfectly after this. We didnt realise about those microcars. We will know next time. Jane 😊
🤭 Jane was working on the Signal, Mirror, Manoeuvre in verbal terms 🤣 I’d go 50/50 😂😇 We have STOP & CLEAR no misunderstandings that way 🤔🤫 I see what you’ve been eluding to now 😅 Great video, Em 💜 Ps I was disappointed with the lack of getaway geese beeps 😂
😂 thanks for watching - stop and clear is something we use although we needed more words for this we realised We couldn’t have a video full of bleeps lol 😂 Thanks for watching
Well... That started a debate here! Jane 1 and Stew 1. Bernie was with you Jane and I was with you Stew. If Bernie had shouted "Pull out Now" I'd have taken it as an OK to pass, perhaps "pull out a bit" might have been clearer but, I'd have hated to make that decision too Jane. So All a misunderstanding. 🤔🐕🚙 Update after further discussion just now it appears I misunderstood Bernie! He's with Stew. Sorry Jane. Honestly you guys. Keep smiling 😂
Both wrong, how important was it to get past? What’s the rush? The vehicle turned off before you could get past anyway. Take your time and chat and get to know each other :)
Stew is right. Jane was right asking stew to pull back so she could see! And Jane should of said edge out a little bit so I can see past a bit. NOT shout with urgency PULL OUT NOW I would of pulled out they way Jane said it.... but not helpful to anyone getting cross with each other. That's not solving anything we find when we have been in France as the passenger mostly I have to be the eyes for the driver. Keep calm. And trust each other 😊😊
Thanks for watching as it was an interesting debate 😂 I think I should been further back that way Jane wouldn’t be in that position but she also accepted her words may have meant something else . We live and learn Thanks for watching
I trust Jane mate do as she says simple , and dont be impatient no point getting killed because your in a hurry on a holiday take ya time 😉and now you guys have worked out a system i hope 🎉
A, although could possibly have added 'a bit' after adding pull out! Although coming after several statements about not being able to see I come down on the side of it being on the obvious side. Sorry Stew. Nice red nose though 😮
Thanks I should of definitely pulled back more as that was the root cause - re red nose yes unfortunately I was suffering with rosacea which had flared up Thanks for watching
I think you are right 👍 both idjits ! You'll be pleased to know after this experience we are 100% clear in the overtaking procedure from this point onwards 😂. Thanks for watching and commenting. Jane :-)
Jane its common sense you asked Stew to pull back because you needed more distance from the vehicle in front of you so that you could see further up the road for any oncoming traffic, maybe it needed saying several times until Stewart pulled back because he obviously didn't do what you had asked so maybe say the next time (creep out slowly so l can see before putting your foot down) would be a better choice of words to someone who should have known not to be that close to the vehicle in front and who nails every word you say to win a point when they cant admit they are wrong..Safe travels:)
Thanks for commenting. I think definitely my phrasing was bad. Needless to say after this our communication was crystal clear !! I think we are probably 50/50 in the win points dept 😱. Jane 😊
Thanks for watching - definitely my issue and ultimately my responsibility as should of pulled back - we learnt a lot and actually made us focus a bit more for the rest of the trip - Stew
I'll take any points I can get at this stage !! They were well and truly crossed by the end of this run in I can tell you 🤪Definitely we were talking the same language from this point on about the overtaking rules. Jane
Thanks for watching - we learned a lot as I ( stew ) should have been further back and ultimately my responsibility- hopefully others will learn from our errors
C both wrong Driver make all decision and not rely on passenger . Pull over and get picnic blanket out and have bread and pate .By then the tractor has gone Hey presto .....No overtaking needed. Chill and enjoy.
Driver at fault , drop back and look up the RIGHT side of the tractor and trailer , or buy a periscope and mirror set to fix to the top left hand corner of the windscreen , afterall , the DRIVER should be driving NOT the passenger

Jane is right. When overtaking safely you should execute a " box overtake". Imagine three sides of a box shape.
1. drop back from the vehicle you are overtaking in order to get a better view
2. when you judge it to be safe pull out into the other lane and assess whether it is safe to progress.

@pauljohnson3573 always up to learn and I was definitely to close due to the speed but I needed to back off - thanks
Colin and Bella !!!!! 😂 I'm working on my communication skills as i type !! Jane
Jane was right she needed to be able to see the road.so Stu needed to pull back and out a little so she could see she never said pass.😊
Thanks for watching and commenting- we learned a lot which helped going forward
Exactly how I was looking at it. Think i should have phrased it better though on reflection. Jane
Thanks for watching and above s as lol taking time to comment ….. I agree I was way to close and ultimately my responsibility
I must say after that we were in no doubt of what the other was saying 😱 Jane
Thanks for watching and commenting
Stew was right. Passengers should not be involved in driving decisions regardless of if abroad or not. Women passengers well lets not get started on that haha (runs off and hides!). Great job guys!
Dangerous territory lol hope your well
Karl said straight away you were too close Stew, but he said Jane did say pull out so you pulled out. So he said you're both in the wrong.
I agree that Stew was too close for Jane to have decent visibility, but when Jane said pull out, she probably should have said "move out a bit cos I can't see shit!" 😂
So I think you're both in the wrong too, but then if Stew had been further back in the first place, maybe the whole thing woundn't have happened, which technically means Stew is at fault!
Lol that’s a b c but I agree we shouldn’t be there so it’s b - I should not of put us in that position
I am going to jump in harbour now as sentence is past
Lol spot on. I've voted C 😂 - I should of said "edge out" in hindsight 😩. Jane 😊
Entertaining video guys 🤩🚐staying out of the whos right and who’s wrong debate 😮it can get tense at times between navigators and drivers lol 🚐
Erin that close and as you say ultimately my responsibility
Hopefully others will learn from my mistake
Thanks I will give Jane your vote lol 😂 thanks for watching and I think heeding your advice and be patient
@@getawaygeese …having said all that, I also understand Srew’s frustration. Always best for a driver to not make hurried decisions and remain fully in control.
Yes I agree. I should have been more clear. We like the pull over and have a coffee idea 👍 jane
Come on Stew, Jane is always right! But this time both were wrong, you should have talked about the wording before now because you have to rely on your passenger. great video, many thanks for sharing ATB
Hi there. Totally agree with that ! Good news is our road etiquette was crystal clear from that day forth !! 😳 jane 😊
Your actions were good Jane, but I think the choice of words were wrong. 🤣🤣
That is one situation I have dreaded getting myself into, as I travel alone, 😬 fortunately it hasn't happened yet 🤞
Changing the subject, that glassworks looked fascinating, and that park up for lunch was great (well done Stu) 👍🐸
Thanks for watching- whilst it was a bit of fun we learned a lot to take forward
We love skilled workers and molten glass is fascinating
Totally agree about my choice of words - could of been better 🤦♀️. Jane 😊
My phrasing could definitely been better 😩. Jane 😊
Thanks for commenting - not heard of those before - he was enjoying himself whatever it was
Your vote is noted and I realise I should of not been as close and ultimately my responsibility
In hindsight it wasnt was it 🤦♀️ ease out would have been better. We had it down to a fine art after this. Jane 😊
It's not easy overtaking on the left with a RH drive vehicle at the best of times. @@getawaygeese
No my fault in overall analysis - shouldn’t of been that close and reality is just sit and be patient
Thanks for watching
Jayne is correct, no discussion A is right.
Thanks for watching your vote is noted -😂- wee we learned a lot of lesson to take forward
I should have phrased it better. Hindsight and all that 🤦♀️ Jane
I agree ( Stew ) after we took away points that helped improve the rest of the trip
Whilst a bit of fun also serious to - thanks for watching
I totally agree with this. I could see it was safe to pull out but in hindsight "edge out so I can see" would of been better! Jane
Agree with Stew
Thanks for watching and your vote is in - we learned a lot as ever
I should have been more precise. As Stew said we learned a lot from it. Jane 😊
Thanks for the tips! We learned a lot and hopefully others learn from my mistakes - thanks for watching
My phrasing could have been better in hindsight 😳 we soon understood each other after that Jane 😊
The main thing is that you’re both alive after the drive and you’ve both learned what to say and do as you adventure along. I’m not sure I could drive on the right 😬😬
Me neither I dont think. And we did indeed take this forward ! I think we were both at fault. Thanks for watching. Jane 😊
I,m going 50 / 50 .... but perhaps EASE OUT would of been a better option, its all a learning curve😅 . A great vlog, the wild camping we find is the same all over europe. Please give some details of where you are staying near Amsterdam as we want to visit on our way up to Nordkapp.❤
H.
I think just as you say my usage of "Pull out" was wrong as ease out was what I was trying to achieve in my head. Working on my communication skills 😱jane
Stew will reply with the Amsterdam question
Forthcoming Amsterdam blog shows the sites - both recommended 👍 stew
I think you have made a decision for us as we hope to travel to Europe quiet a bit.
We will have to get a Left hand drive. What do others think???????
Thanks for watching guys and above all commenting- interesting debate and we both learned a lot
Hold on a minute - don't the rules state one vote per household 😂. I'm working on my communication skills as I type. Having said that we were pretty clear on who meant what after this. We are having the best time as always thank you. Jane
@@getawaygeese Apologies, we never read the small print 😂
😂
Jane your right A because Jane repeatedly told you to pull back and you ignored her good advice … you then blamed her for you not listening
Correct answer after deferred review - root cause was my fault 🤦♂️
Knew the ‘drinking buddies’ would stick together so I already put you down as A
I perhaps should of said "edge out" which is what i was wanting 😳. Jane 😊
Stew is right. If someone said to me pull out I would take that as to overtake
😂 😂 that’s it then I am a free man - thanks for watching but above all making me laugh 😆
Definitely with Stew
Hi there - yes someone else just said the same. We didnt realise so thank you. I totally agree with the verdict on the "discussion" 😂 jane
Well I said to Karl, where are all the tourists when you were at the glass place. He said they've crashed cos their wife told them to pull out 😂😂
That was a perfect spot for your dinner. Very nice.
Lol that made us laugh out loud in pub ….
@@getawaygeese glad it made you both laugh, as long as you didn't spray beer everywhere!😂🍻
😂 now that would be fun google translating us I think we would get in activity mess - thanks for commenting
This was exactly the issue. I felt I only gave one instruction. I think in hindsight though I could have said what I meant in a more precise way. Wonder if Stew will let me vote 😂 I can see we both didn't handle it great. Good news is that we have it down to a fine art now. Jane
Your correct Jane, tell him to do one 😎😆
I am lol 😂 ( Stew ) I was to close and needed to take responsibility
Thanks for watching and above all commenting
Lol. In hindsight we should of sorted it out before we put it into practice 🤦♀️. Jane
Sorry Stew but I'm with Jane. "Pull out" doesn't mean "Go / overtake" 😂 Just pull back from the vehicle in front so Jane, or even you, can see!
Yes I realised after we spoke to camera and from feedback it was all on me and my responsibility - thank you for watching and commenting
That's what I didn't get. Pull out doesn't mean go. In hindsight I should have said "edge out so I can see" i think though. The good news is we were crystal clear after this episode 😱 jane 😊
I remember years ago, my girlfriend now wif shouted pull out now. Vert stressful couple of months.
😂
Jane was right, Stuart was driving too close behind the truck in front, yikes. What Jane should be saying is "pull left a little so I can see the lane clearly". Then "go". #teamJane
Team Jane has her vote 😂 thanks for watching and commenting- we learned a lot and I should not of been so close and my responsibility
That was totally where I went wrong. What you suggested was what i meant. Unfortunately I could have said it in a better way. Jane
We didn't dare comment but ever the diplomat we completely understood both sides. 😂😂😂
I think we both had lessons to learn although if I hadn’t been so close and also it was my ultimate responsibility
Thanks for watching hope all is well
Lol. Good choice Lynda 😊 Jane
Its one of the roads that Napolion built
Ah thanks we wondered why it was so straight - really interesting
Perhaps when traveling in a situation like that people need to be ABSOLUTELY CLEAR with instructions. I think both were unsure/ wrong if you need a negative label. The command was unclear and the person obeying should not have pulled out since he had not understood the command clearly. I am just pleased that there was no accident.
Thanks for commenting. You are right but pleased to say we are now crystal clear after this. Jane 😊
Definitely stu was right, agree he should have pulled back more but to be told "Right pull out now" I would also have pulled out with the intention of overtaking. What made me laugh was i am tilting my head to the left to try see down the side of the tractor lol.
Lol 😂 I do that watching tv as if I can influence it like braking
Thanks for watching
This made me laugh 😂 Jane
Jane right she said to pull back & you didn’t. Sorry Stew. I was going to say C just so I can sit on the fence. I’m a Liberian so I see both side. Can’t. Pull back. Lol. Cheers Lynne Victoria Australia 🇦🇺🐨👋🏻💜💙
No o agree looking back - if I had it would of not got to where we were thanks for watching
Hi Lynne. We certainly had no issues after this 😂😂 jane
Best answer is to rent a left hand drive vehicle on the continent, no hassle then
Now that’s the best solution and Jane would be in full favour of that as then sitting back in the kerb
Thanks for watching
Jane definitely said pull out with a bit of gumption in her voice. Id have gone for it too! But whatever the result, Jane is right😂 its the rules 😂
Lol I knew I was on to a loss 😂 thanks for watching
They are 😂😂. I was trying to be precise with my wording. But in hindsight I wasnt 😱 jane
If drivers side was on other side wouldn't be a problem
Agreed unfortunately it’s not lol 😂 we finally sorted it and it was my fault (stew) and responsiblity I should not of been that close
Thanks for watching
C
#1 you both should have communicated beforehand the strategy for over taking, hence the confusion.
#2 far too close to vehicle in front. The further back will allow a much longer view down the road.
Those Microcars are a PITA! As they are so slow. However, the French love them
Thanks for watching and feeding back as all a good discussion and I know I was to close and ultimately my responsibility
I agree with C myself in hindsight 😂 I should have said "ease out" as thats what i meant 🤦♀️. Needless to say we understood each other perfectly after this. We didnt realise about those microcars. We will know next time. Jane 😊
The ' old fella ' was probably driving at HIS legal maximum of 45 kmh , which small axiam cars are limited to
Now I wasn’t aware of that so thanks for commenting and watching
🤭 Jane was working on the Signal, Mirror, Manoeuvre in verbal terms 🤣 I’d go 50/50 😂😇 We have STOP & CLEAR no misunderstandings that way 🤔🤫 I see what you’ve been eluding to now 😅 Great video, Em 💜 Ps I was disappointed with the lack of getaway geese beeps 😂
😂 thanks for watching - stop and clear is something we use although we needed more words for this we realised
We couldn’t have a video full of bleeps lol 😂
Thanks for watching
I think that's a fair assessment 😊😊 jane
What was the rush?I would have waited for somewhere to pull off, then have a cuppa, then carry on with the journey
Your spot on - it’s my issue ( stew ) as no rush and I just needed to be a lot further back
Lol yes I think we both learned a few things which will improve our driving on the other side going forward - take care
Well you two are out of my good books 😂😂 definitely my use of pull out could have been put more coherently ! A lesson learnt by both us - jane 😊
Oops! 😬
Stu you've got to realise Jane is always right 🤣🤣🤣
I know as much as I try - to be fair we learned a lot that helped the rest of the trip - thanks for watching
Too right 😉 jane 😂
Both wrong, how important was it to get past? What’s the rush? The vehicle turned off before you could get past anyway. Take your time and chat and get to know each other :)
Indeed that was the reality as no rush - a valuable lesson - thanks for watching
Good point. Jane
Sorry Jane, got to agree with Stew.
Thanks for watching - I think we made a few errors on both sides but we are always learning and helped us for the rest of the trip
Forgiven 😂 jane
@@getawaygeese 😂
Its a classic couples driving related miscommunication incident in France. Ive been there. And so has she! Your both wrong, and your both right :)
Well said !! 😊 Jane
Keep calm. And trust each other 😊😊
Thanks for taking time to comment - we learned a lot I should of pulled back - but we learnt and hopefully others to
Thanks for watching
I was trying to be accurate and precise - i absolutely phrased it wrong in hindsight though 😳 jane 😊
Easy when your in the moment in a strange country to be a but anxious and being the drivers eyes we love you and your vlogs xxx
@@marciameredith4214 that means a lot to us
I would have taken pull out as an instruction to go.
My Husband tells me when to turn within 6 feet of it .Grrrr.
Thanks for watching as it was an interesting debate 😂 I think I should been further back that way Jane wouldn’t be in that position but she also accepted her words may have meant something else . We live and learn
Thanks for watching
I trust Jane mate do as she says simple , and dont be impatient no point getting killed because your in a hurry on a holiday take ya time 😉and now you guys have worked out a system i hope 🎉
Thanks - I think that was key just take your time …. We learned a lot and it j in noticed driving comms for the rest of the trip
We sure have. Crystal clear 😂 I should of been more concise with my wording I realised after Jane
I'll go with "B" sorry!
Thanks for watching and commenting- we learned a lot hopefully others will learn from our mistakes
I'll forgive you 😂 jane
A, although could possibly have added 'a bit' after adding pull out! Although coming after several statements about not being able to see I come down on the side of it being on the obvious side. Sorry Stew. Nice red nose though 😮
Thanks I should of definitely pulled back more as that was the root cause - re red nose yes unfortunately I was suffering with rosacea which had flared up
Thanks for watching
My phrasing could have definitely been better in hindsight 😳. Jane 😊
Sorry to hear about that Stew, but kind of glad it wasn't the result of a thump from someone close by 😉
Lol maybe an elbow in face when I wasn’t looking 😂
Stew we are with you on this one. Sorry Jane. Jane's instructions weren't clear.

I think you are right 👍 both idjits ! You'll be pleased to know after this experience we are 100% clear in the overtaking procedure from this point onwards 😂. Thanks for watching and commenting. Jane :-)
Faults on you both but we are siding with Stew (sorry Jane).
😂 thanks guys for watching hoping you are finding France ‘easy’
Remember no overtaking 😂
Lol - no need to apologise 😂 jane
I think we are probably 50/50 in the win points dept
😱. Jane 😊
Thanks for watching - definitely my issue and ultimately my responsibility as should of pulled back - we learnt a lot and actually made us focus a bit more for the rest of the trip - Stew
Thanks for the reply Stew and thanks for the Ireland videos they were very useful to me@@getawaygeese
Good that’s all we hope is that they are useful - I do listen honest 😂 you saying you find them useful keeps us going to be honest
Oh and we’re doing the North so get ready for that series
You have to define your terms before the occasion presents itself. You were both wrong in not defining your terms.
Yes definitely one of the lessons learned - thanks for watching
Sorry Stu on this occasion I have to side with Jane and say A.
Thanks for watching - I definitely should of not been so close and it’s my responsibility ultimately
Like Stew says we learned alot from this. Jane 😊
Stew u were very logical. Trouble is Jane can't see it 🤣
Lol story of our relationship in a sentence 😂😂😂
Stew, you were too close so -1 point. Jane pull out means pull out not just pull out a bit so -1 for you too. Result a draw 😢

I'll take any points I can get at this stage !! They were well and truly crossed by the end of this run in I can tell you 🤪Definitely we were talking the same language from this point on about the overtaking rules. Jane
BBBBBBB!!!
Damn that’s the best advice so far - there is no rush 😂 thanks for watching
Love it - I agree with the driver not relying on the passenger and its a lesson we will take forward. Jane 😊
Jane right
Your vote is noted and I was definitely not doing many things right like holding back but ultimately it was my responsibility
I could of perhaps phrased "pull out" better and said "ease out" lessons learnt by both of us for sure. Jane 😊
Driver at fault , drop back and look up the RIGHT side of the tractor and trailer , or buy a periscope and mirror set to fix to the top left hand corner of the windscreen , afterall , the DRIVER should be driving NOT the passenger
Yes looking back I am responsible and driving to close caused the tension - periscope on order 😂
B. More communication needed eh😂 Sorry Jane.
Send that way Andy 😱😂 Jane
