I've watched a shit ton of mixing videos, but no one has ever explained it in this way to where it was so simple to understand & showed the process at the same time. dude, you are awesome keep up the good work my guy .....
1:59 - 2:17 GOLD! I've been doing this from day 1 and it ALWAYS works. Even when I'm having problems during my mix, I always mute everything else and start with these three then slowly build up my mix one element at a time until I can isolate the problem.
Bruh, for the past 3 days, I have been fighting with getting the vocals to sit properly in this song, and I jokingly said out of frustration, "HELP ME DEVON!" and then this vid showed up and changed my LIFE! thank you for this!!
You could be the greatest teacher on RUclips...Im not absolutely sure..I will have to continue to investigate your videos...Your ability to simplify the complex could be unmatched. I will "like" and continue to dwell into your training. Thank you, so much, for sharing.
Why, thank you ever so much. Finally a tutorial that doesn't focus on any single program but teaches you the basic editing skills for every advanced music program. I'll take the beard as an extra bonus.
Hey yo, I'm new to your channel. Watched 3 or 4 of your videos, already subbed, an must say you are a game changer my boy!!! The way you break down what it is your doing, using to do it, why your doing it to that part of the vocal, an actually explain what the different things are ment to do an what they can be used for depending on what it is your looking to do.. like explaining the frequencies in a EQ an explaining compression.. I jus wanna say even though I'm new to your channel, you've already helped me on multiple levels so THANK YOU for the hard work you put in and sharing your wisdom with all of us!!!
just share a trick, I used to use volume meter by wavesaudio, set it on -18dB as a 0 and don't forget klick the mono button. you can set your kick on -3dB, snare 0dB and your vocal at +3dB. and there you go, you got a nice balance of 3 important elements at -12dB on your master fader.
hey DEVON im from south africa i started mixing last year ididnt knw nothing but since isaw your videos im able to mix my songs even though im using low quality material thank you for your lessons
Bro this dude and 360 Jeezy are spirit brothers or some ish.. You are to the music world, what 360 Jeezy is to the barber world and y’all give off the same kinda energy.💯
Are you suppose to mix vocals right into the actual beat like that? I thought the entire beat was suppose to get waved down first??? Now I’m confused 😅
THANK YOU SOO MUCH! Your videos are really helping my music sound better! I'm an artist but don't really have the money to get a producer so doing my demos myself and getting them to sound as great as possible is cruicial. The kick and snare matching the vocal was a great strategy! Thanks again!
If your on a pretty tight budget, what DAW do you recommend for recording and mixing vocals.. or even just mixing/mastering pre-recorded vocals from a diff daw..
Can you make a tutorial of sitting the vocals perfect in the instrumental if it is downloaded from RUclips or an already made beat, great tutorial tho it really helped a lot already!!
I think it's a great mix I think it's a art I feel like there was too much air on your vocals but that's more a preference so like I said art great job bro!
Bro, your tutorial are fire! Can you do a tutorial for mixing but with an mp3 beat and basically putting vocals on top of the beat. Thank you I would appreciate it !
love this man, this is what i also like to do as well ive learned to do this on my own i also look for improvements tho .Thank you for what you do for everyone...your value is gold bro.
Ouff! In the tracks ive made the Hats are much much Louder so its no wonder they remained to be instrumentals (or at least s.t. to do with it) & likely too busy to fit vocals on except for dubby samples & snippets here & there. This will surely serve to be a guide line on tracks destined to accompany vocals & yeah im watching vids 2-3 times & taking notes, so it all registers before even applying these techniques directly in the non organized way id been. Knowing that I have a few hurdles to overcome namely one being the art of listening. While im glad to have stepped back to reaccess what ive ran with, so to re approach it with a new, more mature comprehension & perspective. Im Greatfull ~ Thx!
I would add Bass to the start list. Kick, Snare, Bass, then Vocal. But this was good to watch. Learning pro tools now so I’m relearning everything. Lol
Nice guide and great that you are helping people out. @ 11:20 personally in my opinion the way you have balanced the vocal is too low compared to the kick and snare. If the reason for this is the low end and low mids of the spectrum I suppose it lacks a high end. I didn't see you push the vocal beyond the volumes 'sweet spot' before lowering it either. That's what I would personally do. Just my two cents of feedback.
It's very easy to mix with samples and get a good mix, have you mixed any African makossa drums made from scratch with addictive drums, all vst no samples and loads of vocals? If u can do it then you'll be recognized. It's a challenge.
Don’t forget to visit www.helpmedevvon.info to support the channel!!
How do you get that dark look on the DAW
@@maavinomusiq new pro tools has the dark mode option!

@@HelpMeDevvon Hey what DAW is that your working out of????

Nothing on youtube compares to your explanation. Crazy I'm working on a track and this pops up. Love the algorithm
The foundational elements - kick, snare and lead. Makes so much sense to do it this way. Thanks!
Bruh, for the past 3 days, I have been fighting with getting the vocals to sit properly in this song, and I jokingly said out of frustration, "HELP ME DEVON!" and then this vid showed up and changed my LIFE! thank you for this!!
I usually use FAB-FILTER for eq'ing and i mix in mono as well with mixcubes

The lighting in this video is looks amazing!
Nice song too! Dope singing voice
Are you suppose to mix vocals right into the actual beat like that? I thought the entire beat was suppose to get waved down first??? Now I’m confused 😅
what if you have a beat that is all in one condense together and mastered already how do you do it?
This changed my Outlook on Fader mixing. I've been going top to balanced instead of 0 to balanced
Great technique... this made so much sense to me where I was extremely over thinking the process.
Nice Tune. It reminds me of Shalamar's 'I don't wanna be the last'.
Clip gaining peaks is really nice to!
Man your channel grew FAST! Congrats on your success.

Try mixing a fast rapper on top of metal band with a wall of heavy guitar + occasional brass symphonic section attacks.
I like how he did the “Snare, Kick” First that’s different @HelpMeDevvon
Dope Fam!This made more of sense than anything I have seen learning mixing!
