You all prolly dont care at all but does anybody know of a method to get back into an instagram account..? I stupidly forgot my login password. I would appreciate any assistance you can give me!
@Nathanael Bishop i really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and Im trying it out atm. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
Devon, I must say thank you for these tutorials. I wanted to go to audio school, but finances said no. As a result, RUclips became my teacher. Your videos were, and, are, an indispensable resource in my growth as an audio engineer.
I appreciate all the help bro you've given me a lot of really helpful techniques that I apply everytime I mix. You're the reason my vocals sounded so clear in my last record.
Amazing video! Dang why’d you stop after adding the saturation, I would’ve loved to see how you finished this! That next step seemed crucial, or am I overthinking it and could have stopped here! I mix my own music and when I get to this step I start to lose it at times, there’s like a secret sauce after this part. Is it more eq after, reason for that last DeEsser? And then mix bus compression. Would love to see how you finished this out in the next few steps. Maybe even a video mixing from scratch and telling us if you use any outboard gear. Other mixing videos don’t tell us everything which is probably the point lol this was great, I’ll have to figure out what happens after to keep the mix together. Love your mixing King.
Much respect Dev! I'm in the middle of doing a video about background vocals, and I came across this video. You're so smooth, right on point, and great info. I don't often comment, but I had to say Great work!
Watched a bunch of vocal tuts. This is by far the best because you're explaining why you're doing things, not just sharing a vocal effects chain. Thanks!
hey hope all is well with you and your fam and friends i was wondering if there's any way you could work more detail with me on a mix of mines, or can you use my song for a tutorial
Always a pleasure to learn from you! You explain and connect so many beautiful ideas, i've been leveling up my level a ton since i knew you! Thanks! We will collab some day 💎
Hey devv. What about pre amps? I've seen people adding them as the first plugin on the chain and then right after that they add saturation. Is it wrong or u have to just add saturation last?
Devvon Ima say dis... Long time musician but sorta new to recording and mixing as a hobby. Just got a shizbang MacBook 14inch, brand new Apollo solo, and Logic Pro 10.7. Also Rockin a pair of Adam A5Xs. I troll the tut vids learning as much as I can and when I find good ones I save them in a folder I call "Producing", I came across your videos and some more from Wayne.wav. First thing I did was delete ALL OTHER VIDEOS in my folder. You guys are my new "teachers"... 'nuff said. Awesome job!
yo definitely appreciate your videos. question when chaining your vocals, how to avoid clipping/snapping when adding plugins to your bus and still have the same plugins in your original vocal chain?
Thanks for the another excellent tutorial man. Can you please tell me how do I know that the vocal volume it's not too low or not too high, "just enough", compared to others instruments on the song...? Many thanks
This is so helpful to see after got damaged with "don't overcompress/I compress vocals one time with 0,5 GR" messages, thank you! BTW, where can I stream the song? Groove is insane jeez
Good stuff like always bro! Now it's time to give us the part 2 of this video showing what you do to get the final FINAL vocal!... Mix parallel comp.etc.
I hope you see my question!! I’m sorry I missed the Q&A. But I have a question. If I own a preamp like a 710 twin finity. When would I stop turning that tube non and turn to plugin saturation?
Not Devvon, but pretty experienced: You're going to have a much easier time mixing beat and vox if the vox are mixed with the beat's stems. That way you can bring everything down to 0 and start building the mix from there to further ensure everything sits right. As Devvon stated in another video, it's good to bring all volumes down and only bring up the volume of your lead vocals, kick and snare. If you can find a happy middle ground for those to all sit together, you're going to have a muchhh easier time bringing up the volume of everything else so that everything sits right where you want it to. TLDR: I mightve misinterpreted your comment but if you're saying youre mixing a 2 track session that has a complete beat mix and then your vocal audio, the sad answer is the best mix is going to come only if your vocals are mixed into the beat with all of its stems. Hope this is at all helpful!
I’ve gotta say if it wasn’t for your videos I would know half as much as I do today. You’ve helped me more than people I know 💯 there was something I was confused about on this vid thou. Did u mean to make vocals sit more back putting more attack or release?
This is GOLD! Specially the "..how to get back the body of the vocal with compression..". Just one question...you said ur attack time was slow and your release fast but i see that those dials are set to fast attack and slow release...Just wondering which one it is...Not trying to be difficult, i love the vid and the info just wanted some clarification. Thank u!!
"i like to have an extremely slow attack time on my first compressor" The slowest attack time on 76 compressors is a staggeringly fast 1 MILLISECOND haha. Many people don't realize this great vid, although i am wondering if you have changed your workflow in the 3 years since this was posted?
thanks devvon for the tutorial! could you do a tutorial on the steps after you add the saturn saturation plugin for the vocal? are the inserts (the nlschannel, mv2, saturn, c4, trcsm432, pro-ds), as well as the reverbs and delays sends all part of the mastering phase (because I notice its on the st master channel)? waiting for your input, thanks a lot bro! really learned a lot!!
Visit www.helpmedevvon.info for some goodies!!
can I add your presets to an existing song? I know if I open it will open a new song. can I add it to something I've already created?
You all prolly dont care at all but does anybody know of a method to get back into an instagram account..?

The way you explained how and why you used the three different compressors was literally so helpful. Thanks so much!!
Thank you for your contribution to the HipHop/Rap industry as a whole.
Amazing video! Dang why’d you stop after adding the saturation, I would’ve loved to see how you finished this! That next step seemed crucial, or am I overthinking it and could have stopped here!

I’m super late but but how did you get so many inserts on ya mix page…ima new pro tools user and I’m curious when I see something I wanna learn about
Question @helpmedevvon I bought a vocal chain Template from your website. Do I keep the vocal chain in when I start mixing ?
How do you create those accent/ background vocals in the spaces btwn the main?
Week 3 on that Social Distancing ep is addictive can't stop listening to ...might need to release that as a single
Much respect Dev! I'm in the middle of doing a video about background vocals, and I came across this video. You're so smooth, right on point, and great info. I don't often comment, but I had to say Great work!
i just use eq sweep. it makes it fast and simple
The fact you actually explain what it does and how to use it
what a tight powerful bass, also tell how did you do that
Got : Boys don’t Cry on repeat. Respect!!!
One of the only guys on youtube who shows that with actually cool vocals 👍🏽👍🏽
Watched a bunch of vocal tuts. This is by far the best because you're explaining why you're doing things, not just sharing a vocal effects chain. Thanks!

hey hope all is well with you and your fam and friends i was wondering if there's any way you could work more detail with me on a mix of mines, or can you use my song for a tutorial
Always a pleasure to learn from you! You explain and connect so many beautiful ideas, i've been leveling up my level a ton since i knew you! Thanks! We will collab some day 💎
Question….why are you doing reductive EQ with the SSL E channel if you already did this with the Waves EQ earlier???
Hey devv. What about pre amps? I've seen people adding them as the first plugin on the chain and then right after that they add saturation. Is it wrong or u have to just add saturation last?

Sounds good my preference on this song is need little more upper midrange to make it pop in the song but it sounds good
I really needed this! a beginner on Pro Tools n its type hard to get used to 😭😭

Ma man’s always coming through with them quality stuff mannn 😭 huge fan Devvon!! Thank you!

Thank you. You're really Great for this.
yo definitely appreciate your videos.
question when chaining your vocals, how to avoid clipping/snapping when adding plugins to your bus and still have the same plugins in your original vocal chain?

Thanks for the another excellent tutorial man.
Can you please tell me how do I know that the vocal volume it's not too low or not too high, "just enough", compared to others instruments on the song...?
Many thanks

This is so helpful to see after got damaged with "don't overcompress/I compress vocals one time with 0,5 GR" messages, thank you!
BTW, where can I stream the song? Groove is insane jeez
Great Video, improved my vocals alot. TY
Which vocal template is this in the store??
Good stuff like always bro! Now it's time to give us the part 2 of this video showing what you do to get the final FINAL vocal!... Mix parallel comp.etc.
Thanks for the solid tips Devvon. Lot of good information right here
i want the link for this vocal template please
That vocalist sounds like Logic. Sounded dope.

GOAT Channel bro
knowing when to say highpass or lowpass filter confuses a lot of people even the best of engineers haha glad im not the only one
Bro it’s so annoying!! Lol
I'm not 100% but is hp only letting the highs through and LP only letting the lows through ? lol thats how I think of it
I hope you see my question!! I’m sorry I missed the Q&A. But I have a question. If I own a preamp like a 710 twin finity. When would I stop turning that tube non and turn to plugin saturation?
This song is awesome!
This Is Another AWESOME R.A.W.E TUTORIAL. Thanx, DEVVON, this helps me so much.
Peace, from Gabon 🇬🇦
Stay Safe And Be Blessed 🙏🏿
This vid was ode helpful bro. Just gotta find your delay and reverb vids and I’m set

I've been doing this for a while and your vids helped step up my vocal mixing!
Bro thank you for this! This is gonna take my vocal game to a whole new level 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾
Thank you devvon
Is the NLS channel also for vocal saturation?
Nice how you EQ and then first DE-es
Love these tuts!! My question is what's a good target volume to aim for when mixing a two track beat and vox? Meaning the completed mix.....
Not Devvon, but pretty experienced: You're going to have a much easier time mixing beat and vox if the vox are mixed with the beat's stems. Do you gain stage at the very very beginning, I mean before all the corrective actions (substractive EQ, etc)?
Kai Vacio Yes, before doing anything, you should do gain staging
@@clxxy47 To what level bro?
G O-I To the level you want. Just let headroom so you can boost in the mixing process if you want to
Chris M bet
This is really interesting! I also started to record some vocals, but its just straight from Serato, dont have a DAW yet :)
Your a great engineer in 👍💯🎛
Lu Diaz and Leslie style 💪
11:55 - I’m watching on my phone so I’m not 100% but isn’t that a fast attack & a slow release? Not visa versa?
With "1176" style compressors the knobs are reversed. 1 is the slowest setting and 7 is the fastest setting
you never disappoint sir!
I’ve gotta say if it wasn’t for your videos I would know half as much as I do today. You’ve helped me more than people I know 💯 there was something I was confused about on this vid thou. Did u mean to make vocals sit more back putting more attack or release?
Very useful tips God bless u devon
litteral gold
From many producers on YT you bring the knowledge not only live style. Big like for you my friend
Thank u!!
you're great!!!!! I love your channel
Wait bro...what are the “TRCSM432” plug-ins?
Hason Cue they are EQs!
"i like to have an extremely slow attack time on my first compressor"
The slowest attack time on 76 compressors is a staggeringly fast 1 MILLISECOND haha. Many people don't realize this
great vid, although i am wondering if you have changed your workflow in the 3 years since this was posted?
Dope videos bro! Appreciate you sharing the knowledge Clear, concise and right to the point. Werd up. Peace from 🇨🇦!! 🤙🏻🎛😎
You should make a melodic vocal chain for Don Toliver
BRO!! You helped me sooo much Thank you!!!!
thanks devvon for the tutorial! could you do a tutorial on the steps after you add the saturn saturation plugin for the vocal? are the inserts (the nlschannel, mv2, saturn, c4, trcsm432, pro-ds), as well as the reverbs and delays sends all part of the mastering phase (because I notice its on the st master channel)? waiting for your input, thanks a lot bro! really learned a lot!!
