Lmao wat??!!
😂😂😂😂😂😂 dead!!!
Definitely 😂
@@HelpMeDevvon 😂😂😂😂 nah that's foul..............but true
😂
That's a game changer moov for my vocal preset
thank you
This is a cheat code to “novice” engineers like me. Before discovering vocal rider, compression was a dice roll for me if I recorded anybody other than myself.
Keep pushing out these gems bro you’re saving lives 💯
It’s always great to see you do what you on a regular. HMD 👍🏾
I appreciate the way you explain the software you demonstrate. For example. every other demo I've watched for Vocal Rider simply said, "set your range." You provided context and gave that extra jewel so we can make informed decisions when applying what was learned. Kudos my Dude. 👏🏾
I keep making improvements to my mixes and masters cz of your detailed analysis, thank you very much Devon 💪
Damn I needed this one I was using the vocal rider yesterday and I always get confused by how that plugin actually works even tho it seems so obvious. Thank you Devvon!
Wonderful tips. Have that plugin but never really know how to use it, now I get it, thanks Devvon.
really love the way you explain the concept in easy to understand language
I just started using this plugin for a mix this video is right on time thxx👍🏾🔥🔥🔥
You've been such a huge help to my vocals over the last 3 years. Thank you Devvon. Respects!!!!
Such information on this plug in!! This video really explained and helped me understand it!
Super useful, thanks so much for posting!
You just explain things in a way that makes things easier to understand.
Appreciate it 💯
Beautiful tutorial quite sample straight to the point
Lovely to see what you shared my brother
One thing I like about you, your interpretation of every knob makes more sense than just fiddling with each one of them.
Jah bless brother, the way you always explain things is more than Gold worth. More power to you bro. Adidi music Germany
Good Stuff, Thanx for keeping it simple.
I just found you because I purchased Vocal Rider and had already watched a bunch of other people's videos on how to set the "settings" and it wasn't clear from their videos, and then came across yours and it got it through my thick skull :D. Thank you, Devvon!
You are truly blessing.Truly.
My engineer homie from Atlanta just showed me this trick a month or so ago. It definitely makes a difference
The best tutorial for Vocal Rider on YT. Thx, bro!
Great stuff. Please do an updated vocal chain tutorial. I would love to see what’s on your VMR and how you use it. Thanks 9:56
Vocal rider is Very helpful when you dealing with dynamic vocals 🔥💯
king you the best now i fully understand the vocal rider clearly thanks bro
Helpful video! Thanks
very well explained. thank you!
Lately I've been using clip gain automation in pro tool. Basically vocal rider but a more control over the volume.
Thanks for this! I work in Production and podcast and was really having trouble getting Vocal Rider to work without sounding jerky and terrible. I shortened that range (and set it to slow) ...much better. Thanks, man!
Cheers Devon!
Very helpful video thank you 🖤
Bought it earlier today, thanks Devvon!
Thank God i met you watched a lot of videos tryna understand Vocal Rider but didn't get no help. i get it all naw thank you so much King i just Subscribed, Liked & this my Comment i'm sending Hearts❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🏾❤️
Hey Devvon...thanks for your clear, definitive explanation and demonstration. Made perfect sense especially as I'm not familiar with this plugin.
I love how he talks to us like we are brand new alien fetuses. It helps so much because it is understandable. 🎉🎉🎉🎉
been waiting for this video
I never knew how to use it tbh thank you so much 😮
good tutorial on this beast of a plugin
This was very helpful thx
Big fan from Malawi 🇲🇼,
you indeed helped me Devvon 😅
Love your room and the comprehensive tutorial man, keep both that sh*t up yo! :D
I’ve just been cutting the vocal up and clip gaining them to be more even 😢 thank you sm
I love the waves bass rider plugin😊
Great tutorial!
You really a good Teacher
Blessing👊
Yes really nie advice. Bit in this extreme case when the vocals are too dynamic I make it with handwork. I use the game changer first.
Great tutorial thank you!! What about the automation buttons?
Nice tutorial 🎉🎉🎉🎉
I have been using this plugin for a minute 👌🏾💯
Excellent explanation! What do you think about side-chaining with the rest of the instruments ?Thanks
Got vocal rider 3 months ago and shits been a game changer for me 💯
Thanks bro!
Devon 🔥🔥🔥
Ahh I so appreciate your teaching style, ty for how you explain this 😭
This is the first video that has made this make sense to me.
I was literally hoping you had a video about this. I listened to other vids but nobody breaks it down like u.
thank you !
I've been working on some old vocals, kind of seeing what I can do with what I know now since recording the vocals, I have vocal rider but over looked it when setting up my chain
Thanks bro
I had this plug in fa a couple years. But bro u broke it down to the T 😂 damn good shit
FIREE
Too may plugins man. I forgot I had this and it's so useful. Especially when you don't want to add color from a compressor.
Dope video Sir, No One dose it better than you 🤗, Now my struggles has come to and End with Leveling. i was doing it manually🥴😟trust me it was so difficult to Archive.
Nailed it
You Can Get It If U Got The Waves Bundle9
Good stuff
Nice bro. Just a tip. You should also record an automation in low buffer so you won’t have much latency and reducing transients more accurately
Nice tip too
Tell us more…elaborate please
What????
This is an excellent explanation on what Vocal Rider does and how it is best used for vocals. I've been using it for a while on dialogue editing for podcasts and it's a godsend for podcast editors like me. Combining this with Clarity vx, I almost don't have to use a gate anymore, but the processing time on Clarity can be a monster when bouncing out an hour long chat. My question to you is, what plugins, in what order, would you mix and process a podcast? How would you set up a music sidechain on ProTools for adding theme music? What would your template be for a podcast. I've been doing it one way for years and I would love to have an update in skills and best practices for podcasting from you specifically. You are one of the only ProTools RUclipsrs who actually know how to teach this stuff properly.
Appreciate u very much for this! Vocal rider has saved me many times from doing to much!
Please can you make a video, how to mix podcast with wave plugins.
Dankie my engineer
You could just automate the volume, or just make the loud part’s unique and bring volume down (I’m an fl user)
Can Vocal Rider be used as a compressor without vocals? I like the graphic interface and how it makes more sense as to what settings do what.
love vocal rider
Thought I’d share - Just tried this (first in the chain) side by side against Waves Maxx Vol (just raising the lower level comp then dropping the lower level gain accordingly) & feel like Maxx Vol won. I know it’s comp, but since it’s only lower level it’s super transparent
Do you still use compression after this?? Or do you use automation and vocal rider ?
So you can think of the target as the threshold or ceiling?
I learned this in illangelo’s mwtm class
How do you know what range to stay between??
🐐
should this be before or after a de esser?
Do you usually bounce in place after you’ve found your Vocal Rider settings?
man. i love u dev but recent event makes me look at WAVES products sourly
Can i use it in vocal record chain? Or is it better to have voc rec chain empty because of latency?
I watch these quite often tbh.
nice cans :)
Tried this. The Waves NS1 plug-in will help suppress noise in the recording phase.
Realize it's probably important for the performance to be captured with the artist/instrument mouth aligned with the microphone capsule/diaphragm. It's obvious but a skill for beginner performers to learn. Then, experiment with creative mic placement later.
Poor transient performances become more obvious after following these steps; limiter, eq, compressor, vocal rider.
It's relevant to capture accurate transients first before aiming for percise transients (probably with a sony c800G or higher quality sound reproduction microphone). I'm just saying.
A plug-in like transgressor 2 will help engineers isolate transients. Download your favorite songs and the demo of this plug-in. Turn off the sustain and listen to just the transients of your favorite song.
My philosophy; Sometimes, there is less transient information, but it sounds better.
For a project, Decided to re-record artist and will extract and edit transients of vocal performance by deleting and lowering the volume of transients for a finer tune.
Some transient spikes are so loud and some just low-end thumps, so I hope this will inspire the nerds to edit and be concerned about transients before vocal riding. 😅
Do you use the same range on all vocals ?
Do a video with bass rider now
Is clip gain not the same?
👌
Anyone know of a waves alternative for this plugin? Thanks!
this is a waves plugin
@@richardhowse4684 I meant the other way around
Doing it manually is always the best if you have the time.
I’ve been diving into vocal rider and it’s dope but could you do an explanation on automating it? Cause using vocal rider on multiple VOX tracks uses up my CPU so fast, and I noticed it has an automation feature but is there a way to “COMMIT” the Vocal Rider and then just use your vocal chain plugins on it after? 🤔
I think once it’s good 👍🏻, print it to a new track and move to the next.
Does this exist for fl studio? lol I feel like I bought the wrong program
Literally just preset it to smooth vocal before your serial compression and your gooood
Talk about Dolby Atmos???
Yeah I got the perpetual license for that
should this plugin use before or after the compression plugin and should i still use 2 compression plugin even i use vocal rider? thank You Devvon! Love from HongKong
Before. The whole point of Vocal Rider (and this tutorial) is to make the vocal less dynamic so your compressor doesnt have to work as hard.
And yeah, use 2 compressors so you dont have 1 compressor doing all the work. But again use your ears, if it sound good to you with one then you dont need a second one.
@@LixienXIII thank you soooo much! appreciate it
