That's why you put that bun in the oven before you deploy. This has been a rule since my great grandfather served. My dad's dad's dad taught him, my fathers father taught him, then my father taught me, and I'll teach mine the same.
To imagine after all of these thousand of thousands of years YOU end up being the ONE descendent who failed to continue the blood line would be an excruciating thought as one died. No Thank you. So, moral of the story, pop a bun in that oven before you deploy. Or, BARE MINIMUM store some of your Marine Corps "Sea Men" at a " Sea Men" Bank, this way if you pass, a Child will still be reared.

My son was in the Marine Corps around the same time and we sent him all sorts of medical supplies anything we thought he could use, and he would load his pockets before his unit went on patrol in the nearby town. If someone was sick or hurt he would hand out whatever he thought they needed bandage Neosporin aspirin whatever. He just thought he was being kind, but apparently the townspeople thought he was actually a doctor! He had no idea of this until they brought him a man with a badly broken leg and he had to try and tell them through his Pakistani interpreter that he was not a doctor, but they tried to find him one! Once again thank you for your service and give your mom a hug because she 100% served with you!

Bc you already know that he seen some shit that he didn't wanna see. Lots of ex-military(especially grunts) don't like to talk about their experiences because of that reason. For the most part people that glorify the military and push you to join are POGs that haven't seen a lick of combat. Damn near every Marine combat vet I've met has advised me not to join the Marine Corps at all and do myself a favor by joining the Air Force instead, while every POG or naive friend who joined infantry just to look cool without a single deployment besides Okinawa that hasn't even seen combat hyped it up for me and pushed me to join. Experience and perspective speaks volumes.

So brave! No wonder you are such a good story teller!! So glad you got to start a family!! They all must be so proud of you! I also hope it's OK that I share your stories with my students via zoom lessons, they love them and are learning English and how to re-tell stories with the aid of your videos. So from Hong Kong they say a big hello and they think you're great too 👍👍👋

My dad was a medic in Vietnam. He didn’t talk much about his experiences there, but I’m sure there’s soldiers like Mr Ballen, who were grateful for his help. My utmost respect & thanks to all our veterans, & those serving today.

Truly like your videos. Now hearing how you were a Navy Seal ? Wounded in combat in 2014? That truly makes me appreciate you so much more. Thank you for your service and thanks to your Medic and other Seal Team members for your immediate aftercare. Truly words cannot express my gratitude towards men such as yourself. My family had served in WW1 and WW2. My Grandfather Royal Engineer Warrant Officer John Edington OBE, MBE. Mentioned in dispatches and King George decorated him for Valour. In WW2 he worked for MI6. My Mother his daughter served as a Wireless Operator from 1943 to 1945. My Father served at 18 in 1939 with the British Eighth Army. He was gone from England from 1939 to 1946. Duration of war plus 6 months. All are now passed on. Yet you honestly remind me of my families willingness to serve one's Country. Thank you for your service and I'm have been following you based on your great story telling. Now I will follow you as I know your backstory. I am glad you survived and can do what you do nowadays. Your truly one hard man Mr Ballen. 💪🏻🙏🏻✨

We owe that medic a lot. He saved a great man from dying. Being a medic must be the most stressful thing. Tending to your comrades' wounds and trying to stay out of harm's way while doing it. I hope Ballen didn't get PTSD from his deployment.

That medic was a storymaster in disguise. Always watching, listening, protecting the art of the spoken story. Good job with MrB.

Thank you for your service Young Johnnie! Glad you made a full recovery, when I heard this story when I first began watching you, all of the videos I had seen of you were sitting down and I swore you were a wounded vet (missing leg(s)), but I am so glad you made a full recovery and so sad many of our young brothers and sisters came home not so lucky 🍀 🇺🇸
