Yes, she is a very educated woman, highly articulate, and knowledgeable, and cooks for her kids. More than many people in the middle class and upper middle class can actually claim to do.
This is literally how the average person eats on a daily basis. The fact that she's at home, relaxing in her jeans and a comfy tee, with her kids, and in her kitchen just winging it and cooking the most everyday, uncomplicated foods (like a peanut butter banana sandwich) is freaking amazing. Even the plating and "presentation" of the food is just so normal (nothing fancy), the ingrediency are simple and the cooking techniques are nothing complicated. It's a better representation of how the everyday, normal person cooks in their home kitchen. Every cooking show should be like this... relaxed, informal, realistic, and more relatable to it's audience.

@@Malcriada115 no one is saying it is good and healthy. But the reality is this is often how lots of people cook regularly because of lack of knowledge or skill or just when tired.
Oh my childhood! That coca cola ham. The family glaze recipe is brown sugar, mustard and just enough cola to make a paste, then smeared on and cloved. Pineapple rings, depending on which aunt was making it.
Such a strong successful beautiful women..her story makes me sad.. losing her husband to cancer nd being left to take care of her little kids at a young age..makes me admire her even more❤
U believe yourselves. Iheard her saying she married that rich man after months of her first husband passed away. She Said it was so soon. She is rich, successful, a mother and famouse, beautiful, she had everything.. Why should u petty her. Women😒
No one talking about the end when her midnight snack was replaced with manicure time? 😭💅 Nigella showing us her self control when she could have had her fave cold fried chicken straight from the fridge.
Bananna sandwiches were once very prolific in the South. I had my first at cousins houe in 1960 in Toccoa GA (NE part of the state). My cousin Anne and others made it with bannana and mayonnaise. They sliced the banannas lengthwise.
I’m southern and love peanut butter and banana sandwiches. Had one for breakfast this morning, as a matter of fact. That being said, I wouldn’t ever put Mayo on one.
Didnt we all grow up on nanner samwiches? To this day I still love them. White bread ripe bananas and thick slathering of mayonnaise. Preferably blue plate. Do they even make tht anymore?
Yes, but she's trashy in such a sexy way! LOL I love the words she uses to describe food..."tumeric turns the risotto into a pool of thick creamy glistening golden sunshine" 💚
I love that the theme was even carried to the magazine she was reading while eating the Elvis sandwich. "Geri tells all" LMAO, all the way back to the Spicegirls.
At 0:19, you can see Nigella's daughter playing with a Betty *Spaghetty* doll. It makes sense that Nigella would buy her kids toys with food references. 😂😅
I’m getting to that age where I’m starting to feel baby-crazy - this is really taking the edge off 😂. Shaky cam food preparation, followed by shaky cam of adorable kids - finished with shaky cam of adorable kids stuffing their faces with said food. Completes the primordial story.
I visited there right before the quarantine so it was late February and I LOVE that town. Wish I could have spent more than just the day, but I did have an amazing paella!
Hahaa I know you are just kidding about the triggered part but I think why this section was called Trashy food was because during that time, the whole "healthy, zen, pure food trend" was all the rage. And amongst that, she has this whole section dedicated to slightly "unhealthy", oily but wholesome food except for maybe cola ham...but who makes cola ham or any roast ham on a daily basis anyways.
I agree - the banana peanut butter sandwich is really not that bad imo. Especially if you use a grainier bread, and natural peanut butter that’s everywhere now...It’s just a good hearty breakfast I think!
Because it’s a video about food so indulgent it borderlines on orgasmic, brought to you by a well spoken British woman who looks like a Goddess and eats like a pig. What could be more soothing?
Oh dear, you needn’t toast the bread before pan toasting, lol. Try it, so the butter really soaks into the toast! And a drizzle of Tupelo honey across the top of the peanut butter really brings it on home!
Only Nigella could reduce a grown man to a pubescent boy who is overwhelmed by feelings he doesn't quite understand yet. While in awe of her, "Can't take my eyes off her" incredible beauty, she steals our hearts through our stomachs every single time!
Came here after seeing her teach how to butter a toast - suprisingly for a cooking show/episode the food and cooking process is hardly in focus , whoever was shooting the video was apparently more focused on artistic angles of shots. 🙂
She cut that sandwich so beautifully.... And then held/ ate it so oddly lol. Also I don't get toasting the bread then putting it in the buttered skillet???
For a second when Nigella grabbed bananas and said the word “trashy” I thought she’s gonna make oily yet delicious pisang goreng, our way of making the celebrated healthy fruit trashy.
Not really. It’s a mixture of savory and sweet together. I’m guessing your Indian? It would be like a sweet chutney or pickle with a bite of something salty or spicy. Ham with a sweet glaze is salty and sweet altogether.
Nigella : this handsome piece of ham
Ham : blushes
I really miss this show!!! Nigella is one of my cooking heroes, and she's SO cozy.
