      Yes, she is a very educated woman, highly articulate, and knowledgeable, and cooks for her kids.
      More than many people in the middle class and upper middle class can actually claim to do.

    This is literally how the average person eats on a daily basis. The fact that she's at home, relaxing in her jeans and a comfy tee, with her kids, and in her kitchen just winging it and cooking the most everyday, uncomplicated foods (like a peanut butter banana sandwich) is freaking amazing. Even the plating and "presentation" of the food is just so normal (nothing fancy), the ingrediency are simple and the cooking techniques are nothing complicated. It's a better representation of how the everyday, normal person cooks in their home kitchen. Every cooking show should be like this... relaxed, informal, realistic, and more relatable to it's audience.

    Oh my childhood! That coca cola ham. The family glaze recipe is brown sugar, mustard and just enough cola to make a paste, then smeared on and cloved. Pineapple rings, depending on which aunt was making it.

    Bananna sandwiches were once very prolific in the South. I had my first at cousins houe in 1960 in Toccoa GA (NE part of the state). My cousin Anne and others made it with bannana and mayonnaise. They sliced the banannas lengthwise.

      Hahaa I know you are just kidding about the triggered part but I think why this section was called Trashy food was because during that time, the whole "healthy, zen, pure food trend" was all the rage. And amongst that, she has this whole section dedicated to slightly "unhealthy", oily but wholesome food except for maybe cola ham...but who makes cola ham or any roast ham on a daily basis anyways.

    Came here after seeing her teach how to butter a toast - suprisingly for a cooking show/episode the food and cooking process is hardly in focus , whoever was shooting the video was apparently more focused on artistic angles of shots. 🙂

      Not really. It’s a mixture of savory and sweet together. I’m guessing your Indian? It would be like a sweet chutney or pickle with a bite of something salty or spicy. Ham with a sweet glaze is salty and sweet altogether.

      It's a UK product we call black treacle. If you are in the US dark molasses would be nearest equivalent. Hope this helps
