You can tell hes really trying to use the feedback from the last Poll. You rock ray, thanks for all the content
Yeah he's a genuinely a nice RUclipsr
I just spent 3 hours of my life trying to replicate this farm only to find out the redstone in the video was wrong, I'm losing my mind
Were
@@timowittenbergis
nah, you should have been able to figure it on your own, this is a certified skill issue moment
There is just a gab in the video, and it isn’t working for my, I’ve copied whats shown but it still doesn’t work
@@LKA-qz8ye at around 8:52 there is a cut and extra redstone added... the added composter needs to be full for the comparater to read, and you need one item in the ring of 6 hoppers built just before... Both added pistons are sticky... the rest should be easily copied from the screen...
Hope that helps!
I Absolutely love that fact that you take your fan’s opinions and interest from the polls and incorporated it into your video! Thank you for working hard for your community!
Thank you sooooooo much! I build like 4 of these bonemealfarms with moss and everytime the farm started producing cobble. I was so frustrated until I build ur farm. IT FINALY WORKS NOW!!!! Ty so much!
Nice farm thanks! A quick note about the item sorters at the end, if you choose to sort every item individually. The moss gets created at such a rate that it will cause bleedthrough of signal to the nearby sorters causing them to open incorrectly because the moss hopper is so full. There are a couple of solutions to this, the easiest of which is to separate the moss sorter by one block - leaving a gap on either side of it from any other sorter - thereby insulating it from affecting the other sorters.
Been trying to find a tutorial for an all in one farm like this! Love it.
This man is a legend, he makes the most useful videos in the most useful times and exactly when i look for those! I literally went "I need a new and unique multitasking farm in my world" and instantly see the notif pop up.
frfr
Thank you! The design i was using had a flaw where it kept on making cobblestone, shall be making this!
Just a heads up for those who are planning to stack multiple tiles of this farm, the farm's efficiency is non-existent until the hoppers are filled, so it's wise to fill up all your dispensers and the hoppers connected to them right from the get go or asap.
The efficiency can be increased even more by redesigning the bone meal-ing part. All those blocks above the stone prevent many block from ever being converted to moss etc. More moss etc = more return per bone meal used.
@@_BangDroid_ after some testing it seems there is a bug where stone doesnt convert to moss even with air above it when there are blocks floating above them, and you're right that its less efficient than the common design due to the bug.
@@ChuinYih Does this always happen or only on some designs? I made a moss bone-mealer that had a ceiling of pistons to crush the foilage instead of the water flow and it seemed to work fine (there were hopper minecarts under the platform). The rates of conversion were the same before and after adding the piston wall above the platform. It could depend on the type of blocks maybe?. Pistons above the stone didn't affect moss production.
@@jasonl7651 in my testing, I've only used full blocks, and I've notice the same bug with hoppers. The pattern I've found is the y value of bone mealed moss block compared to the convertable blocks is +1, the required blocks of air for these blocks to convert also + 1, so there's no work around for this design unless the difference of y value = 0, but that also means no stone generator for the middle column to keep the bone mealed moss block stationary. Although it makes the farm less efficient as is, the point of this design is to stack multiple tiles, where the sheer quantity of its production makes it worth while despite not reaching maximum efficiency, while keeping it relatively cost efficient.
@@ChuinYih does this farm also have the problem of cobble stone ruining the farm
I really appreciate the added explanations for how various components work. Great tutorial!
I’m so glad you listened to the feedback about doing more tutorials in your farm videos. Really helps and improves the video thank you. Keep it up!!
i appreciate the block by block toot. thanks man. you are basically a god that i worship never stop being you.
I like this format a lot! it's a good balance of explanation and speed
Ooooo I’ll definitely be building this tomorrow, thanks Ray!
Built this in 1.20 on a Java server and it works great. If you're having trouble, make sure to follow the redstone correction in the linked photo (basically moving one line of redstone up one block), place 1 item in the 6 hoppers linked in a circle, and fill the composter that is part of that same timing circuit.
Also , before starting the down clock .you need to place the hopper filled beneath the comparator in 8:54
I hated it when he just skip a huge important part of the video at 8:51.
why did he skip he didn't even acknowledge the time skip
Absolute life-saver.
@@11_22_XX 10000000% life saved, can't thank you and @Dardrian enough guys. I honestly can't believe that part was skipped, just seems like it was straight up cut out of the video. That item in the hopper clock is the *crucial* step to getting the timing circuit working. Maybe putting an item in there is assumed to be obvious to redstone experts, but not me lmao
thannks this saved me
Thanks alot man
Thanks for the tutorial! Usually I don't use your farms because they don't come with a tutorial, but this one I will!
Omg I've been looking for something like this for a few days!!! I've been thinking of all sorts of farms to make yeeesh
So I made this on my 1.18 survival world and it works perfectly. I did however have two problems getting it to work at the at end. I eventually figured out what the problems were and wanted to share because it wasn’t exactly clear in the video. Problem one was not getting the trap doors to open and close properly. This was caused by the repeater going into the block with the Redstone torch on it (the one on the red stone tree going over to the bone meal dispensers) needs to be clicked once. Once it was on tick two the trap doors functioned properly. The second problem was the water was staying out too long for it to generate the Moss. Because the video doesn’t show him building this portion Of the Redstone I wasn’t aware that the position of the composter is very critical to the timing. In other words the composter was in when it needed to be out when I started the machine and it caused the timing to be incorrect. I hope this saves someone an hour or so of debugging.
thanks a bunch man. you gotta place the composter under the block with the comparator going into the piston when the trapdoors are shut. life saver
I have the same problem, and waste an hour thinking, thanks a lot!
Thank you! This really helped me. To make it even more clear: The sticky piston by the composter needs to be retracted, and the composter needs to be under the block with the comparator *and* filled before you start the farm. So put it in, fill it till all the doors close, and THEN start the farm.
any idea that how much bonemeal it produces per hour
@@sohaibakhtar6840 not exactly no. But it produces more bonemeal then my cactus farm towers and my multiple kelp farms combined. It is a better bang for your buck then the other options.
actually impressive... I was searching for a quite simple, cheap and relyable mossfarm for my young hardcore world I started in 1.18.1 :)
that will probably be the design I'm using :D
Thanks
Thank you so much for this! I've recently made a Forge 1.18 modded save but my Bedrock Edition Redstone-wired brain doesn't know how to comprehend Java Redstone so this video was exactly what I needed to help me get started on my modded world!!
Easy fix when trapdoors keep open: After following the picture in discription (Moving line of redstone up one block) place the composter FILLED TO THE TOP!!!!!! under the block with the comperator next to the 6 hoppers. NOT AGAINST THE STICKY PISTON.
Also put in 1 item in the 6 hoppers.
still doesnt work for me
At first I wasnt sure about this new format, but I think it went really well! You were able to describe how everything worked and why, while also building block by block, and wasting no time!
Hi Rays, thanks for the amazing tutorial. Just wanted to point out to anyone else having issues with the clock, put it two blocks in so the observer ends up hitting the piston. The video at first makes it seem like it's only one block in, but it's two. Just sharing in case someone else was having issues. :)
YAY FINALLY THERES ONE THAT DOESNT NEED A MASSIVE PUMPKIN FARM OR SMT, im so happy there's finally a self powered one, great job ray
Rays never fails to make OP and necessary farms! Keep IT up Rays!
Un-necessary ones too
Rays always fails to make nothing and that's good, cause if he fails to build nothing, he never fails to make something... Oof
Thank you for all the awesome content ray
You could turn this into an infinite charcoal farm by routing some of the bonemeal to an azalea tree farm and blowing up the trees before feeding them to the furnaces.
In my bedrock world I have a double chest that collects the bonemeal from a similar farm, and a comparator coming out of that, so when it's at signal strength 3, it triggers two hoppers underneath the double collection chest to unlock for a second. That way it splits the bonemeal 50/50 between refueling the machine, and giving me bonemeal for other projects. It does build up over time so still produces more than it eats.
I also put a few stacks of planks, and I think 4 shovels in the collection chest (in slots after the bonemeal) so the machine isn't hoarding too much bonemeal in that otherwise inaccessible chest. So I think when it is up to 14 bonemeal it releases 1 bonemeal into each of the 2 hoppers
so you could move that half of the bonemeal over to an azalea tree farm
i love your vids, but i would love to see more footage of the farms you make actually just running. its quite pretty
Awesome ray! Love your vids!
If anyone builds this in a cold biome before he said that, just use something like waterlogged signs instead of water, it will not freeze then (torches might stop it from freezing but idk)
I think you’re right, waterlogged blocks (with no hit box) and torches will stop it from freezing. Or by placing a solid block above the water source.
Either waterlogged blocks without a hitbox. Torches, or just replace some of the blocks with a lighting block like Glowstone or Jack-O-Lanterns. The lightlevel will then prevent the water from melting.
water need sky to freeze right? just put a solid block above it.
@@shaoran1026 that would work too
@@shaoran1026 - Or build the entire farm underground.
You can also make this farm produce all the drops automatically by putting sorters for the drops under the item stream and then the furnaces/composter after. That way you will always have a full double chest of each item and overflow goes towards smelting/xp/bonemeal
YESS IVE BEEN NEEDING A BONEMEAL FARM
The tutorial was a bit difficult to follow at times (just because it's difficult to orient yourself based on 'here' and 'over here'), but the farm is well worth the effort. Thank you!
Bro doing god's work. Love you so much
Awesome build as always, as simple and as efficient as it can be done. Many thanks, my next project on the list.
Within 1 minute I’m flying across the room to hit the like. Amazing job thanks ray
Perfect tutorial for a great farm! Good job Ray!
lol
i just put this farm on my farms list to make
then this video poped up in my feed!
didn't even have to look one up!
I don’t know how this guy hasn’t reach one million subs yet he is an absolute genius.
Ran into a problem where water flowed too long. Trick was to remove the redstone the observer controllign the water gate sees until resynced. Oh the video skips, there is one item in the 6 hopper chain. I suggest the world download for the details. Great work as always Ray, glad Impulse led me to you.
thanks man that fixed it for me
thanks mate!
Made it just now. Works like a charme
This is the content I subscribed for :)
Oh man! I just started playing and only figured out how to make charcoal a couple weeks ago. No joke...unfortunately 🤣. It might be a fiasco, but I'm going to try some of these. Thanks for posting!!!
This is your best tutorial to date, Ray! attn Bedrock players: Bedrock devs refuse to allow quasi-connectivity, so this will not work for you.
Was looking for this comment gonna have to find another video.
Just FYI, if you build this in a biome where it snows, the snow will trigger the observer if you don't cover it up. Causing the trapdoors to get out of sync and prevent the farm from working.
This is wonderful. Thank you.
This seems to be the definitive moss farm, well done!
Can confirm, works in 1.18 survival. A few pitfalls: (A) For this to be automatically and infinitely producing XP, you also need a farm delivering smeltables, so the farm in this video is only one of two farms you actually need for XP. I built a cactus farm with 256 cacti to have it all at a reasonable speed. (B) Starting the sorters at the end is tricky. I suggest filling it quickly with 64(e.g. azalea) and then 1,1,1,1 of something else in the four remaining fields. If the first field loses items and stops losing them at exactly 41, only then is it properly started and sorting. (C) collecting the ingredients and building all of this in survival is quite the challenge. It is more of a fun project than a solution. For example, to get the ice you need to already have a tool with Silk Touch. (or try building it in a cold biome, have not tried that)
I'm definitely making this next update
bEAST mODE As usual. cheers ray and team :)
for bedrock the trapdoors need to be replaced by something else like a dispenser or so and since there the moss blocks drop through the generated stones there needs to be done something there too (either just leave it if you stack the farms on top to have them drop on the lower layer or just put something under there)
Massive heads-up: if the piston above the composter is permanently retracted while the farm is on even tho you built the whole farm correctly, make sure to check the hopper clock! You must put only ONE item in one of the hoppers (NOT 6 as some people said in the comments), then the farm will operate as intended. I was stuck with this for days till now. Wish Ray had clearly mentioned this in the vid as I didn't immediately understand what '6 clock' meant. Hope I helped!
Edit: Apparently I misread the '6 hoppers' in one of the comments as '6 ITEMS', but still. Btw, the schematic is correct, but in the world download, the part with the top pistons, observers, and droppers is a bit different as Ray compacted these parts later on. Up to you to follow that
You are best in Minecraft farms
I didnt realize the azalea bushes worked as fuel wow!
this video is gonna be so popular
a bit confusing the part of the hopper clock but very nice tutorial, thank you rays!
@@RaysWorks oh thanks!
love the background 🎶
Hey! Great video! did you put anything in the hoppercircle? (6 hoppers on top)
@Rays Works. at 8:50 in the video, you skip an entire section where you build out the comparators and observers and bring power to the row. Can you elaborate on that piece? I was following this tutorial but now I am stuck :(.
If your farm seems to be flooded constantly, try placing the composter on the block in front instead of the sticky piston.
Also, thank you for the great video Ray!!
Figured this out independently... The setup fires the piston to swap the composter position every time the item gets put into the hopper in front of the comparator. If your farm is running, just break it and swap positions. If the piston fires after you break it and before you put it in the other position, just replace it in the position you took it from. Then fill it up? I don't get composters, I would think if it was full it would produce a bone meal...
ayo thanks G
Hello ! Hum...There is a cut at 8:50 where you build the piston-observer-compst unit, and even with the screenshot in the description, it doesn't work for me. I can't tell what's the problem, everything looks like your's but the piston-observer part doesn't work (the comparator is off, and the hoppers loop seems to work for nothing)
Please help ? :s
This a fantastic farm. A quick question - what do I need to look out for if I've accidentally built this not on the chunk border (the actual layout I've put this in has all of the stone generator portion within the same chunk - but I've only built this one wide)...?
I had to build this myself in creative before I could figure out what half of this was doing haha
For anyone making this: Adding a second item to the hopper chain will speed the farm up a bit (make it so the items are always exactly opposite of each other).
The flowering azalea part of the furnaces may also pose a problem since it is generated much less than regular azalea. Probably should let this run for a while before starting to use the furnace part to make sure there's a stockpile of fuel.
I think there is a bit missing at around 8:50. Where did the Piston, comperator and block came from?
Not that its actually difficult to build them your self, but I just found it weird they were skipped
Check the description
And what hopper did you put the item in? How's the timing? None of it's there, and now it's doing whatever it wants. The water's been running too long.
Maybe u could ad a needed item list next time! Sick video btw bro
He made a tutorial fellas, what a guy! He wants his farms to be used.
One day I'll understand Minecraft well enough to make things like this on my own
Thanks Ray!
wow that tutorail is so well done
Hey Ray, are you aware of a bug when bone mealing moss blocks to convert blocks on a lower elevation, it requires more blocks of air than usual? From my own testing, when the y value of the orignal moss block is +1, the required block of air to convert stone to moss also +1 for some reason. This affects this farm as it need at least 3 blocks of air to spread moss blocks as the original moss block is y+2 from the stone, so there are around 9 blocks per tile that is ineffective due to this bug.
Ray, I really like your videos (and subscribed) I see your note about 9:04 for the hopper ring and filing up the composter but regardless of how I put my comparators (subtract or not) I'm seeing the trapdoors defaulting to the "down and water flowing state" which is preventing the dispensers from growing moss below. Could you perhaps describe the initial state of the comparators, and the hopper ring?
@@RaysWorks Thanks again as always, I was able to get it working once I read and downloaded the world download.
This might be a dumb question... but is there an easy way to stop the composter hoppers from picking up the azalea trees? Seems to affect the smelting efficiency.
Small suggestions. Stair blocks at water source. This protects your water source.
Rays Works❤️❤️❤️
Is there a world download with this? My farm is broken right where you made the Edits and I can't seem to figure out how to fix it. Thanks!
Love the farm mate. so good
This is so coooooll!!!!
Awesome!
You made my day :)
So i can build this farm as long as i want and it will still be fully charged with bone meal at full length of it right? (The bone meal in the dispenser to use it on the moss block above the stone)
hey i have a slight issue with my farm and wondering if you know how to fix it for some reason the trapdoors open and close in the reverse order
This video is Dope, reminded me of Bob ross episodes.
Brilliant.
The second bone meal dispenser doesn't work on the moss block is there anything particular you need to do with this ?
Video doesn't explain how to power the part that does the water, with the filled composter, at 8:50
I managed to work it out, but it wasn't clear at all.
But appart from that, farm works well. Thanks! :)
Oh my God thank you for explaining what you're doing as you go.
What are the rates that we could expect from this?
awesome tutorial, a true boss.
I'm having an issue where the water doesn't remove in time for the dispenser to fire :( Have used the corrected redstone image when building. Anyone have an idea what is going wrong?
Amazing Farm, really good job!! a little question tho, can we have the size of the farm please (with the height)? thanks a lot!!!
Its 23*13 and 10 blocks high, but you start somewhere in the middle, i dont know where
Thanks for this enlightening tutorial! I've build this to produce bonemeal only for your "All in One Dyes Farm" below the bonemeal farm. However, I'm struggling with finding an efficient way to feed all the bonemeal inputs for the various flower farms. Any good tutorial on that?
@@RaysWorks I'm aware of hoppers, however they can't keep up with all the flower farms. I just hoped there was a better idea than more dropperclocks and waterstreams…
@@xavierschmit water and ice, or manually shulkers
when the bonemeal is dispensed, it's not spreading to the stone underneath the moss. Any ideas why? I did the fixes i needed to as shown in the description btw
stuff is only growing on top of the moss, the water starts flowing agai almost as soon as the trapdoors close. they open within one second of closing.
please i really need help and i have to go to bed soon
How important is chunk border positioning in this farm? Do you have to start it exactly where it is described in the video?
@@RaysWorks Thanks!
1.19.3 works perfectly ! Only big issue, FPS drops severely went form 80 to 30 FPS just by running the farm. Anything I do wrong ? there isn't anything around it that make us lag (all players on server around the area lags quite a lot). When turned off, FPS comes back fine..... Any chance you have the same issue ? is it maybe a light issue ? The fps drop only happen when stone gen pistons pushes.
I like this farm but I wish I could see how it works awhile longer with more explanations than you show. Also I wonder why my farm was not work quite correctly when i noticed that you left out showing the construction of the section that connects the power to the moss block section plus the activation for the moss is to low at the comparator. It was easy to miss because you move to fast showing the build as usual.
Switched the hopper clock to 8 with 2 items (4 per), increased efficienty for me
in the image post, you said that there was one item in the hopper 3x2. But my hoppers are not sending the item around : (
How to fix?
(yes they are facing the right way)
@@RaysWorks Thank you, I for some reason didn't realise that there was a world download lol : S
i died on the inside when he made a mistake and all i had was a photo to correct it 🤣
