Bonemeal on kelp can actually be quite useful. In java at least, every kelp plant block becomes a water source block which stays a source block even if you break the kelp. I've saved so much time building water elevators using this method, because bubble columns only work in source blocks. You just build the elevator, put kelp at the bottom, bonemeal until it hits the top, break the kelp and then put soul sand or magma at the bottom.
Alternatively, you can stack pieces of kelp manually for shorter elevators since you won't drown on those. Saves some bonemeal for the early game.
You’re a genius I didn’t know this thanks!!
The real tip is always in the comments.
This is also true in bedrock
@@PlantsForHire he’s not the one that discover it and it works on bedrock too
thank you for making this type of video explaining basic mechanics.
i know lots of people will say "pssh, everyone knows that", but it's really helpful, even to people like me who have been playing for a year or two, but several uses for bonemeal have slipped under the radar because nobody has mentioned them.
i really love the all encompassing guides to a single super versatile item like these.
i would love to see another one about lava, water buckets, etc.

With the skeletons you should maybe include a mention of a skeleton farm as that's how I get most of my bonemeal, plus you get all the other skeleton drops as well; arrows, bows, and armor.
Also wither skeleton farm ( provide bones coal and sometimes wither skull , definitively uppgrade in comparison of skeleton farm ,as arrows and bow are not not that usefull in extremly large quantities )
@@gerardmatthieu907 Arrows are quite useful in large quantities, stone swords definitely aren't. But I see your point about coal and wither skulls.
@@tomdekler9280 Must be a crossbow user. No hate, but I’ve been using an infinity bow since 2012 so I’ve never really needed more than one arrow 😂

My personal way is an iron farm. Iron golems drop iron and poppies.
After letting it run for a while, I take the poppies and put them in a bonemeal farm.
I recently found a skeleton spawner almost right under my house.
I made a ridiculous amount of tinted glass, encased the whole thing in a 9x9x9 box with water that pushes them into a chamber onto a pointed dripstone on a block of mud.
They land on the dripstone which takes them down to a 1 hit death.
Most of the loot falls through the mud into a hopper & chest.
I’ve also placed a lava cauldron there to throw the trash into.
There’s a 1 block hole with a slab in it which stops the skeletons shooting me and allows me to kill them.
Very happy and no more Bone meal shortages.
It did take me a ridiculous amount of time to make as I had to find a lot of amethyst shards.
Then my son decided he wanted to start another survival world 😅
Why tint the glass?
@@99seaweed - So I can see and light level is low enough to spawn despite having torches around the outside.
Also, it looks good.
@@Pickchore thanks, I was not aware of the effect tinted glass has on light level.

One more important item you forgot to mention is Twisting Vines, the Magic Beanstalks of Minecraft.
You can get them from bonemealing Warped Nylium, and they're a great natural looking alternative to scaffolding as a free-standing climbing structure.
One bonemeal will make it grow 1-3 stages, so it's extremely easy to climb to floating islands or high ridges.

This is so amazing! I have so many bone meals right now, but actually didn't know what to do with them, now I got so many ideas! Thank you so much for an inspiration. ♥️
I built a pen for my skeleton horse out of bone blocks. A rib cage cage, really.
It took a while to collect enough bones but I think it turned out pretty metal.
your timing is quite good i literally just finished building an auto tree farm but i need more bone meal to use the farm XD
Heck yea! Thank you professor Eyecraft. Just set up shop near a skeleton spawner and was struggling to find uses for all the bone meal. This video will help keep me busy for a while. Keep up the good work!

Great info video. I would show off using twisting/weeping vines as a ladder. Otherwise you hit on everything 9/10
I use the compost method, via a automatic kelp farm. It makes a ton of bonemeal.
All this time I have been getting rid of grass, I didn't know it can be composted. I will be trying everything today!
I generally just automate a composter with 2 hoppers, I don't even bother with chests right away until I have automated farms that I can dedicate to the production of bonemeal and by then I don't really need more of it.
When I cycle my farms, excess seeds go into it.
When I get back from gathering wood, excess saplings go into it as well.
When I come back from gathering shroomlights, the netherwart blocks go into it.
One of the best methods of getting bonemeal is actually using the poppies you get from iron farms in a composter since you get a huge amount of poppies which hardly get used anywhere else so it works out really well!
I don't believe in hell but there is something to be said about how intensely evil iron farms in Minecraft feel.
The lumbering protectors of the village are killed en masse to be harvested for their flesh, and the flowers they picked to hand over to baby villagers are gathered by the murder machine to be used as _fertilizer_ or to build houses and statues out of _solid bone_ blocks.

Not being able to compost poisonous potatoes is so annoying!
Everyone is entitled to playing their own way, but using third party tools to show where everything is on the map kinda ruins the exploration experience that is intended.
The awesome thing is you get to find the perfect spot to build that way, some people only pvp and some only build. I've beat the ender dragon once and never again 🤷🏻♂️
Good luck never finding the single woodland mansion within an 8000 block radius if your base.
Can't believe you threw a delicious cake into a composter. Especially when I'm hungry 🤣
Great vid!
You forgot wither skeletons and loot chests. (dungeons, pyramids, temples, bastions, strongholds, fortresses, mineshafts, outposts, badlands mineshafts, shipwrecks, drowned cities, treasure chests, & the spawn bonus chest.)
Not to mention the nether has a HUGE amount of compostable material in the 2 forest biomes in the form of netherwart blocks.
Additionally, the best farm to automate bonemeal is usually the iron farm's poppies, which is less lag-inducing and headache inducing than observer or BUD-powered sugarcane farms. Iron farms are even more OP now.
My favorite method of bone meal collection is an automatic sugarcane farm that loads the cane into a hopper over a compost bin that is connected to a chest through a hopper
A lot good content. Like and subscribed
I watch your videos everytime I need to learn something new about Minecraft and I always get what I came for and more
This is such a good channel holy crap
I've got a server with a few friends of mine. I actually build a hole industrial town with several moos generators connected to a sewer system so several composters, which are then directly connected to the other farms of that town like fully automated tree farms. Because of the amount movement, item entities and hoppers checking, the hole server needs to be pretty beefy. Still, pretty proud of that town. :D
I have an unintentional bonemeal farm in my base. I made my base inside of a lush cave and made an aquarium for the axolotls that spawned there. The aquarium frequently spawns tropical fish and the axolotls instantly kill them so they drop their bones.
10:43 , what a happy bone meal man spreading life around the nether... OH GOD DONT JUMP!
Those infinite bonemeal farms which do cobble generating to moss block to bonemeal are amazing.
Yet another video of pure gold. Thanks again!

In pocket edition, I've found that using bonemeal underwater on dirt and sand does this regardless of the biome. I haven't tested it in any snowy biomes but in a regular forest biome it gave me plenty of coral fans.
Dude you are amazing. Amazing content 👌.
BABE BABE WAKE UP EYECRAFTMC DROPPED NEW KNOWLEDGE
The best item for an automatic bonemeal farm is probably just seeds. They have a low chance of growing the compost but you get so many by just farming and they're basically useless so, the best use you can give them is making fertilizer :P
Farming wheat with fortune will yield chests full of seeds even on modest sized fields.
Unless you are making grotesque populations of chickens.
Eh, mob grinder is much more effective than that, its easy to build as well
@@arthurbarros5189 well even then, eggs can take care of just that as well
@@scout4996 we can compost the eggs?!
I couldn't find any skeleton spawners near my area, and I didn't have any decent source of bones (and coal, actually) until I built a wither skeleton farm. However, what I did have was a very efficient pumpkin and melon farm, which was literally overflowing to the point where I had to turn off the collection system. So I composted pumpkins and melons to make bonemeal.
On bedrock you can bone meal all the same plants that java can plus sugar cane and flowers which you mentioned. Bone meal on sugar cane can grow it from 1 to 3 tall with one bone meal. And flowers will make more flowers if they spread up. You can actually make a bone meal profit with the right type of flower farm. Also fortune 3 works on tall flowers so you can basically "dupe" tall flowers lol
I guess I know what two farms I'm making next time I play. Bamboo and bone meal.
The Bone Block makes such a satisfying sound.
I like EyeCraft’s videos before I even watch them. He is the best
I already knew its cool and does a lot but SO MUCH? Especially the flower tip amazes me
One of the first farms I build is always wheat, sugarcane, and hopefully pumpkins; the second is always a bonemeal farm using composters! I've never had to farm bonemeal because of it LOL!
My favorite way to get bonemeal is to make a big potato farm and turn the baked potatoes into compost using hoppers. You get a lot if your farm is large enough. Also a great way to get experience when you break the smoker
I saw a passive/AFK'able fish farm that also gave bones. Probably the easiest option, though Skeleton spawner farms work, too.
Another use of bonemeal is the ability to spread nylium. Using it on a block of bare netherrack that is adjacent to a block of nylium will convert that netherrack to the same kind of nylium. This is particularly useful if you decide to bring some nylium back to the overworld to farm those nether mushroom trees, since they sometimes convert the nylium they grow on back into netherrack. As long as you have bonemeal and one block of those left, you never have to go back to the nether to gather more.
Speaking of, farming these trees is also a great source of bonemeal. Since the nether wart blocks they grow for their leaves have basically no other uses, you can dump all of them in the composter to get back way more bonemeal than you used to grow them. Great source of renewable and endless bonemeal and shroomlights!
Ive been playing Minecraft on and off for a few years now. I get bored because I dont know what Im doing. Hopped in on my PS5 last week and got a good base set up. Got an auto potato farm and stuff but I didnt really know where to go from there. Found your vid about day 1 to elytra. It gave me a goal since Ive never foight the dragon before and used the elytra. Managed to beat the Dragon easily since I was already well equipped but lost the egg. I also got really lucky with my end spawn since there three ships nearby so I got three elytras now. Things went really fast 💀
Thank you
I use a skeleton farm by simply stumbling upon mob spawners and building a simple trap farm around it. It essentially is an efficient XP farm, bonemeal farm and arrow farm. Works great👍
I love sugar cane and turning that into bonemeal farm sounds op
I don’t even play Minecraft much or watch Minecraft videos, but I saw that most of the people that watch your vids aren’t subbed and I felt bad cuz you do make fantastically good info videos. So I subbed. :)

You can convert netherrack to warped or crimson nylium by bonemealing a netherrack block next to either of those two nylium variants.
2:25 The funny thing is that they assume the bone from thr fossils turn to Carbon and even Diamond when left underground.
Both Coal and Diamonds are Carbon is structure, and bone is mostly Calcium, which is an entirely different element than Carbon.
Also, we don't get our fuel from dinosaurs, we get them from plants
I really thought you were about to do something with lava and it had me intrigued and confused 😂
I love your videos. 😁😁👍
I'm now switching to a bone meal economy. Amazing.

Pov: you seeing this in your recommended and the title saying "bonemeal is OP" and you clicking on this video to see why and after watching 10 minutes still not know why it's OP and 10 minutes of useless information that most players already know that only new players or kids wouldn't know and you realizing your waste 10 minutes watching a tutorial video on how to get bonemeal.🤦♂️
Just a random question can you grow every minecraft tree anywhere on bedrock? Like can you grow a jungle tree in the desert or does it have to be in the jungle
9:29 iam on bedrock and i bonemealed my aquarium and got coral fans🗿there is no warm ocean nearby
We have a slave chamber of villager farmers. The crops they drop off go through an automatic sorter that puts them in the appropriately labeled chests the food hallway of our item storage, and when those chests are full, the surplus of crops get funneled into compost, and the bonemeal goes through the auto sorter that puts it in the labeled bonemeal chests in the hallway for gardening items.
self harvesting/composting kelp farm, bonemeal all day babyyyyy
you forgot that it can also turn netherrack into nyleum lol great video
I use all the poppies I get from my iron farm and funnel that into my bone meal machine! Makes the iron farm get clogged less easy
Maybe its the long way around but i have 7 kelp farms piston comparator trimmers, and 7 cactus farms and an iron farm feeding a sorting systems that turns what it can into bone meal. It runs on my realm 24/7 afk i got maybe a shulkers worth of bone blocks since we started the world
I have a theory.
The fossils are the bones of the old Giant mob.

@@ulan4eg I can almost see the sarcasm.
I had no idea you could bonemeal the fungus and mushrooms! 🤯
All these years and I didn't know you could use bone meal underwater
Honestly, I think Kelp is a much better use for bonemeal farms than Sugarcane, since kelp grows pretty quickly and doesn't have as many important uses as Sugarcane.
I wish I knew the hopper/composter trick, would have saved me thousands of clicks and time sitting there trying to beat the percent 😅
I was today years old when I found out Bone Meal can be used to get more tall flowers!!
That's actually a lifesaver for forest bases I make in the future, thanks
i was trying to bone meal sugar cane in java and watched this video thanks for mentioning that
Is there any other way to find the fossils? I haven’t been able to find any using the chunkbase map in my bedrock world

Did you know that at 4500° Kelvin (K), diamonds turn to graphite? But at around 2000° K and 35 Giga Pascal (GPa) pressure you can turn graphite into diamonds.
But yeah, finding diamonds inside a fossil would be weird, mostly because diamonds are usually formed over 100 kilometers underground.. (That's ~60+ miles).
Im always mining bone blocks because they have cool mining sound
Love this guy
you probably wouldn't find diamonds in a fossil irl but its possible to find gemstone fossils. opalized and agatized fossils exist
Wait you can get bone blocks in caves? I had no idea
Wow, I have been playing for years, like since beta, and I didn't know you could bonemeal a tall flower to get more of that flower. Goes to show how small things the game doesn't teach you, like you need a guide or someone else to tell you.
One more useful thing: u can convert the normal netherstone stuff (dont know the english) next to warped nyleon by clicking on the stuff, not the nyleon. Also works in the overworld and only to blocks direktly next to it. So you can farm the warped nyleon and also the blue warped works well.
Huh, never knew what a hippo was in German until today. "Horse of the Nile (river)" or rather "Nile-horse" is a pretty cool name. It's just "river horse" in Danish, but the Danish word is probably historically related.
Oh, and nice to know about the nylium trick. According to Minecraft wikipedia:
> "Using bone meal on netherrack placed next to warped nylium or crimson nylium transforms the netherrack into more nylium."
Yep, it's great. I made my servers main nether portal area from a generic nether location to a warped forest connected to crimson forests and it looks very nice. Also this makes getting the warped/crimson wood very easy.
I genuinely did not know that you could craft bone blocks from bone meal
