I have never clicked on a video so fast on RUclips. Coheed is not only a personal favorite, but their shredding ability in combination with Claudio's range and understanding of melody is so next level.... AND ITS A TWOFER!!!!!
The old stuff is some of my favorite! He had less of a handle on everything back then, but they were on point right from the jump still. Time Consumer is masterful, as is Everything Evil, and most of that album.
Fun fact: when they recorded this record, they were between drummers and they had Taylor Hawkins from Foo Fighters play on the whole album. Their current drummer (Josh Eppard) is their original drummer, back from dealing with drug addiction. He's a monster!
No way. My father in law and I are both massive fans of these guys (of course we are both drummers and who doesnt love T. Hawkins and the Fighters) and he and I have always said the drum charts on this album specificially sounded VERY Hawkish... Feels good to know you can 'feel' and hear your favorite drummers shine through even in other groups music. Thanks for that tid bit of trivia.
While I like Hawkins, I enjoy listening to Pennie & Josh play the tunes from No World more. I was lucky enough to go to all 4 nights of the Neverender at Terminal 5 in NYC in 08 & at the time I was alil hesitant because Josh is one of my favorite drummers & being a drummer myself I almost didn't go but I'm glad I did. I never really listened to Dillinger Escape Plan, but that dude can play.
From what I remember Claudio said it was the first time they toured overseas that josh was coming off opiates and could not come down from his room and make it to the plane this was all in one of the documentaries and those add alot to the band if you have not seen them!. It ended up being a way to get Hawkins to play on the albums which added alot to the songs that were made at the time. But in my opinion Josh is the better drummer for the band!
So glad you made this mistake, people always suggest Welcome Home, great song, but easily one of their most overused and pales in comparison to their catalogue. NWFT is just an amazing album and this is one of their grimiest headbangers.
Saw these guys live with Clutch in Austin. Hands down the best show I've ever been to I remember leaving and I stopped halfway home and had a moment to literally understand what just happened. It honestly was life changing
Sorry for the confusion Michael. The reposted video on the site contained the right time stamp but I couldn’t figure out how to remove the old one. On a video over and hour long 1:10 can be 1 minute 10 seconds or 1 hour 10 minutes. Won’t happen again. Thanks for the reaction anyways!
@@Guitargate Thanks Michael. I really appreciate it. Your happiness and genuine love of music and teaching constantly inspires me to pick up the guitar.
Oh I didn't expect to see my favorite band on here. They've got like 15 minute band solos that are amazing. The lead singer somehow can sing and play lead at the same time which blows my mind.
@@chrismcnally1058 You're right, Travis is the Lead Guitar Player, but Claudio is equally capable to do the leads too, and simultaneously sing of course, although don't do that so often.
I absolutely love these guys, I got to see them about 3 years ago and they were absolutely killer! Mastodon actually opened for them as well, such a killer band and a Killer show! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Love your reaction to Coheed. One incredibly underrated song that you mind find very interesting would be "The Final Cut". Its an incredibly powerful song, with hints of old Floyd, and beautiful guitar work from both Claudio & Travis. Wish more artists like you would react to it. Love the channel, cant wait to watch more
Dang, I’ve seen them more than that and I don’t even like them. To be fair, I’m like 2003 they played like once a month in Philly opening for bands that I did really like. Also, at that time, I did like that first record.
Thanks for the incorrect time stamp! This is my favorite C&C song. Such an epic riff. Many of their other songs have more varied intensity levels, but the driving, face-melting of this song always hypes me up!
You've got me laughing with the first squeeeeeeeeel out of that guit-fiddle, Michael! I love your videos, your intelligent discussion of all the things that matter in songs and music, and I hope your construction project goes beautifully. I'm an electronics electrician in Northern CA.... probably a bit too far to help with the project, tho' that would be fun. Enjoy your 10/2/21 weekend!
Josh is such an underrated drummer too just in general. One of the grooviest and heaviest drummers I’ve ever seen live. Rock solid, amazing drum parts, never over plays but never under delivers. In fact, everyone in the band is an outlier in their field, even the bass player. 😂
Welcome home is absolutely one of their top 5 songs from their very long list, but the song being played is "No World for Tomorrow" which I also put in the top 5. Their last few albums have had this weird weave of great, and not so great but no matter what I will always remain a true Coheed and Cambria fan. I don't care what anyone says they are absolutely one of the best in the progressive stream alternative music.it was fun to watch and, and see if you could keep up, this is one of their songs that would take some time to break down and Lear, in kot something full of basic chords, and common shread patterns. Just because of this I'm now subscribed to this channel and will watch more, and support for sure.
Also, great break down on everything. I forgot to mention I appreciate your ability to still just listen to a lot of this stuff, hear it, then play it. Not something you see much of here on RUclips in reaction videos.
Man, that was a blessed mistake. No World For Tomorrow is an amazing tune, and your approach made me grasp some interesting things about it (at least for myself). Don't know if you're interested in other kinds of stuff, but there is an incredibly creative Brazilian guitarrist, Kiko Dinucci, that used the same approach of scales in Dm to arrange a song called Rainha das Cabeças with his trio Metá Metá. Maybe you should check it out, if you're ever in the mood for foreign stuff. Anyhow, nice job and thanks a lot!
You should check out the guitar playthrough of Kingdom and the Crown by Mandroid Echostar. Similar style of music but the video has much better quality and the vocals have been removed.
One time years ago in SLC I saw them open with this, and the road tech gave Claudio his guitar wrongly tuned, (it must not have been dropped D) so mid-song he figured out how to transpose all the chords and sing all the lyrics. It was really cool to see his guitar genius in such an unpredictable way.
🤣🤣it's a twofer love it, I was massively intrigued on that number though, definately not my usual cup of tea but thats why I love this channel and community ❤
I know this video was a happy accident, but I love that you did one for this song. Honestly, the main riff from NWFT is one of those things you have to sit there and pick apart for a few minutes ‘cause it gets a bit tricky with the pull offs and palm muting placements.
