Went on it yesterday with my 7 year old. We were lucky enough to be at the front. The video doesn’t do this ride justice. It’s sooo fast and totally epic. Had my hands on the air the whole time and loved it! It was my daughter’s first rollercoaster and I couldn’t have been a more proud dad to be on there with her.

Went on this for the first time last week and let me tell you, this is so god damn fast. Not only does the rollercoaster go like what 44mph? The experience also happens so quickly. Doesn’t even feel like over a minute imo

That's not even that fast. I've been on Goliath and six flags great America and it's wooden coaster and it goes 74 miles per hour
@@DARK_AMBIGUOUS I don't think you appreciate the feat of engineering it takes to get that kind of speed out of a rollercoaster that can't be built above the tree line. At Alton Towers, the designers have always been restricted to keeping the tracks below tree height (for various environmental reasons). They don't have the ability to build massive lift hills and simply drop the coaster so that it picks up a huge amount of speed.

I went on here today, it was my first ever rollercoaster! Do NOT underestimate how fast it goes, I was struggling for breath lol so I started singing💀

literally it was also my very first ride from alton, this ride was SO fast i had to hold on so tight and felt like i was gonna pass out
It was my first ride when I went last week. First proper coaster in well over a decade, and I was NOT disappointed. It felt so, so quick. I mean, I loved The Smiler and I'll always have a real soft spot for Nemesis, but this was without doubt my favourite ride.

We stupidly did Alty Towers in the holidays yesterday 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ and they're the 3 (!) roller coasters we did.
@@katiejackson7452 oh no! That's not good. I went on 20th Sept and did 13 rides. Could easily have done more too. Mind you, I was on my own so was literally hopping on and off Thr Smiler with their single rider queue.
Not always easy to do with groups, I know, but if you can do it term time...do. you'll get decent value for it.
Definitely the best ride I’ve ever been on out of several countries. It feels 3x faster than it looks on video, each of what look like little bumps have stomach drops, the music is pounding and goes right through you. It’s incredible.
Could not recommend this ride enough this rollercoaster blew my socks off
Such a unique coaster, and definitely one of my favourites with its theme and preshow! And the lovely smells it has!

I have actually never seen wicker man run this slow. This must be like the first ride of the day.

@@victorsshitposts9864 Sometimes entheusiasts are allowed to film with a camera attatched to th3 train and nobody else on the ride.
I am a 13 year old that just rode the ride today. It's my second roller coaster ride in my life, and this thing looks not so fast. But when you go on the ride, totally different story. The turns are pretty sharp and the speed literally is almost at top speed for the whole ride. So much fun though, I absolutely love and enjoyed the experience.

I went on this last week and dont underestimate how fast this goes. I had to sit by myself with my brother sat behind me and this was the scariest 90 seconds i have ever experienced .
Was always an oblivion fan, but after going on this over the last two days, Wicker man has gone to number one. Videos can’t get across how fast it is.

I've done it, definitely a must ride if you ever go when you can stay until dark
The lighting at night from the fire is soo good
also try thi3teen bc there are no lights and you can't see which is fun

Went to Alton Towers for the first time earlier this year and out of the rides I went on, this was probably my favourite. It feels so fast when you're on it and it's just a lot of fun. Even as someone who's terrified of most roller coasters (I only went on this, Runaway Mine Train and Th13teen and chickened out of Galactica) I ended up loving it.

Also ppl who don't like stomach drops just lean the opposite way it helps
:) and if u put the speed to 1.75 thats how fast it feels like when you go on it this was my favourite ride in alton towers
Also the one that gives most stomach drops in my opinion is dablade ,nemesis and oblivion when they go down

rode this for the first time on sunday and i think it's going in my top faves. Knew about the ride but i didn't expect the pre show and was blown away !! theming and attention to detail at AT feels amazing
Went on near the end of the afternoon at Scarefest and I was surprised how fast it felt and how rough some of the turns were. The 'big' coasters felt a lot gentler!

I remember watching a wicker man pov video not long after it came out, this was about 1 month before I went to Alton towers for scarefest, and thinking “wow! This doesn’t look to bad, rather slow actually.” That your wrong. This is such a fun ride but don’t underestimate it’s speed.

Went on this yesterday, DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE HOW FAST IT IS!! Rollercoasters always look slower on camera

Wicker man is amazing the pre show and everything is absolutely spot on I went on it twice the last time I was at towers in April one thing IT IS WAY FASTER THAN IT LOOKS AND I MEAN THAT HONES THE FIRST TIME I WENT ON IT I DID NOT ENJOY IT AT ALL but once you are used to it it’s such a great time

I love the storyline behind it as well as the inter active part right before the ride (no spoilers) [this was also my first ride at Alton towers]

Deffo in my top 3 alton towers rides ...doesn't look much untill you actually get on it ,it's a different ball game then it is rapid, coupled with the bit leading up to getting on the ride the hologram etc it's all in all a cracking ride

It’s not worse than Rita and oblivion is faster than Rita and wickerman is the 6th fastest coaster in the park

I went on this a few days ago and I'm not sure why but it seemed a lot faster compared to the last time only last year 😮
It’s new, basically at the end there’s a wall and it’s a ghost like figure similar to thirteen we were stuck there for like 3 minutes and creepy music played and I thought we would drop but it was fine it just made us go forward again and the wall opened revealing the station
The wicker man was the very first rollercoaster in my whole life. I must say, it was rather breathtaking

Wickerman is so fast I always watched this pov thinking it wasn’t that bad went on today and screamed so much I was not expecting it I couldn’t even tell what was happening and at one point felt like I was gonna fly out my seat 😭 found it scarier than galactica lol

Went on this twice in a row in November as the day I went there was virtually no queues whatsoever
of all the rides at alton towers, the seats on this coaster are unbelievably small.
so small infact that the lapbar literally didnt even fit over me and i couldnt ride it :( (weird bc i can ride literally everything else in the park)
waited a whole hour in blistering heat just to go to a wee gift shop
For some reason I was singing the guilty gear theme while on this ride. I apologise to anyone who I probably annoyed while singing it on this ride lol
The way the lift hill changes angle of accent partway up looks like something someone would do in Planet Coaster.

You know, I see a similarly with this and InvadR at Busch Gardens Williamsburg, with the same company building them, the tunnel before the drop, and the overall experience! The theming is somewhat similar, but InvadR is about Vikings, while WM is about sacrificing. Also, InvadR has a larger drop! ( Sorry about the paragraph lol )

Could you provide some tips on how to get into coasters? I'm really scared of them and this is the only one I've ever ridden
Wickerman is quite intense actually! You're closer than you think
I don't know what coasters you have access to besides alton, so I'd say you should try galactica as it's not too intense, then honestly just go on the smiler (don't be tempted to try nemesis reborn first, that ride is extremely intense). After that you should be ok to do other rides. Stealth at thorpe would be another good training coaster

I went the other day, I have to say it was quite thrilling. I would have gone on it again if not for the time. I couldn't find the smiler so I had to pick this. I literally got sacrificed lol
Just so people know wicker man is WAYY faster and intense then it looks, especially in the back row, best ride at towers (I haven't ridden nemesis it was being retracked)

Runaway Mine Train is a good first step. Then Spinball Whizzer, then either this or Galactica.

That'd be my order (not including Nemesis obviously). Only reason I would put Spinball later is because some people are sensitive to spinning, whereas Galactica is pretty relaxed once you're over the unusual riding position.
The wicker man is so much faster than it looks and the waiting is scary I was holding onto my friends arm hiding and I passed out on the ride at one point cuz I couldn’t handle the speed

Okay so I was 11 when I first went on this it was my first ever coaster and I said in the queue line “omg that looks so slow”when we went through the tunnel I screamed “I AM DYING”
