- Chessington wouldn't be what it is today if it wasn't for the classic Vampire!
This Arrow Dynamics suspended swinging coaster originally opened in 1990, before closing in 2000 and reopening in 2002 with floorless trains from Vekoma. Vampire takes riders on a flight over the streets and treetops of Wild Woods, before diving down into a spectacular tunnel finale.

I think this just showcases its not just about crazy drops and fast speed. Just making use of scenery can upscale a ride so much.

It isn’t the best imo but surprisingly still holds up as a great coaster
its rattly and jolty as hell in some parts like when it passes the gruffalo ride in the middle rows it feels like it just stopped motion and started going again and most of the layout is boring af

This ride always has a special place in my heart. Was my first proper 'scary' ride when i was a child.The themeing and the overall experience is amazing. Since then ive got to experience Nemesis at Thorpe Park and insane coasters at Six Flags magic mountain
This is my new favorite ride and I’ve never been on it. It’s awesome how it really makes it look like you’re flying through the trees and then climb again to dive down through a Transylvania themed town. All with a haunting gothic station to get on and off. What a cool ride.
Bring back the OG soundtrack Chesisngton!! Love Vampire!

Yeah. They have 3 good rollercoaster: Dragon's Fury, Mandrill Mayhem, and Vampire.
Mandrill Mayhem is the only one which goes upside-down. It has some decent hangtime.
Dragon's Fury is the only major one which spins or has lapbars. It has decent airtime. (Rattlesnake is a small ride.)
Vampire has the strongest positive GS, though it doesn't have any airtime or laterals. It's also the only major rollercoaster which doesn't go backwards.
Dragon's Fury is my favourite. And Rattlesnake would probably be my least favourite if I rode it.
Rattlesnake probably has the strongest laterals.
@@me-myself-i787yeah wild mouses are designed for the heavy lateral forces so if you don’t like that then avoid rattlesnake, since that’s half the ride 😂

I went on this ride as someone who is terrified of roller coasters. Went on once, screamed the whole way, came off and didn’t feel the same the rest off the day

That ending room with the red lights REALLY needs some sort of jump scare from the vampire. Or at least some sort of vampire scene
3:13 best part of the ride hands down (also the sound of the lift hill is so satisfying)

May sound weird but I prefer this ride to nemesis reborn it feels faster on ride to me and I really like the free swinging aspect

This ride looks really tame. I guess it's ok as an entry level rollercoaster though.
Why does it the vampire make the clicking sound on the lift hills? Also great video!
These are called anti rollbacks, so that if the train were to stop, it would not allow it to roll back causing a safety issue.
The theme park is perfect for kids and this ride if oerfect for them! It isn’t stomach turning hut its so exiting

It was hired out for filming. You're not allowed to film with other guests in the area due to the chance of phones/equipment falling on to others below.

I can’t tell if these new trains are just slc trains or if they pivot it’s a bummer if they don’t pivot
They swing out just as the old Arrow trains did.
@@AttractionSourcethanks for the reply it didn’t come into my notifications box but I’m hoping to go to chessington next year and this ride is one of the main reasons, it’s also great because it’s only a 25 minute drive from Thorpe Park so I can get all the Chessington creds and return to Thorpe Park for Hyperia and everything else that has changed since I last visited

I rode this yesterday for the first time and i have to say i was disappointed at how timid it is. Mandrill Mayhem is a couple of levels above it, as is Dragons Fury
Cedar point needs to put these kind of trains on iron dragon
I wonder: is this ride as smooth as I remember? Because I'm unsure whether or not my mother should ride.
She definitely should ride Mandrill Mayhem and Dragons Fury, but she generally only comes on the first rollercoaster I ride with me and refuses to ride anything else for the rest of the day.
Its a weird sort of smoothness. The track itself is smooth but the train makes it feel slightly jolty.. definitely not rough, but there are some sections where the train begins to swing but locks itself and causes a jolt.
It’s interesting that this is a “suspended” coaster, rather than an “invert”, as the riders’ feet are hanging, and not sitting in an enclosed gondola or car. Was this ride always like this? Or is it classed as such due to the swinging nature of the seats?
The suspended coaster name was created by the original manufacturer, Arrow Dynamics. It used to nicely themed suspended cars where riders feet did not dangle and the vehicle was more enclosed - worth a Google search to see pics.
Great ride but could do with a big refurbishment. Nice video.
(Refurbishment being repaint... new control system... new trains... work with S&S? Bring the old theming back 😅)
