Nearly every owner i know of this car has issues stemming from faulty wiring, but the ntsa has only received 92 complaints. If we all complain, they can do something about it. It's a 10 minute form either to fill out on line or file via phone.
I’m so glad that I watched your video. I have the same car but it is a 2013 and I have the same 2 issues. My brake light goes out all of the time and my headlights go out of my high beams are on and I use my blinker.
Same issue 2013 limited sonata the amount of bulbs I’ve replaced before finally replacing both housings IS crazy. Got one on Amazon and the other from some online car place. Worked initially but then one sporadically works when it wants which is about 30% off the driving time smh. I’m no mechanic but it’s not the housing it has to be the wiring. I also had the oem housings melt melt to eat the bulb had to bed pried out. Wish they would recall this already
I’m going to change the wiring harness. I had a 2016 Kia Optima a few years back and soon as I got home it had an out tail light. Changed the bulb out in 30 minutes. Took it to dealer had a argument with about the warranty and the wiring harness which they said was faulty from factory. They fixed it for free and never had an issue. Think I found the harness I need on Amazon for $56. Better than the $280 Hyundai quoted me lol.
A lot of time the port is melted. Hopefully this works for you. Mine was melted so bad the plug would not fit back in. Thanks for your comment. Have a good day.
great video my bulbs burn out every 6 months. the left tail light just went out last month and is already acting up. I found the bulb was still good but the green wire leading to the bulb is loose. I was hoping it was a simple fix and I wouldn't have to replace the entire unit. thanks.
Know one can ever say woman don't know anything we can even fix or cars. I'm fixing a break light sensor now hoping that's all it is. I have no break lights or cruse control. If that don't fix it then it's the wiring
I have a 2014 Sonata and my bulb got stuck in the socket. I had to buy a harness and socket. I need to know how to put that back in when it comes. The harness not the whole light
What issues were you having and did you get it fixed? My lights have a mind of its own they dance when I put on my turn signal, I’ve had my car not be able to shift out of park, and I’ve had the break light not even come on all on the driver side only so annoying I always get pulled over working at night 😢
You’re not understanding his question logically from a financial perspective why spend +$100 on a whole assembly and waste time hoping the junk yard got a undamaged assembly that has what? Used wiring harness that will burn out. So the point is replace the ACTUAL HARNESS for $20 or full thing for 5x more but you do you you got the funds like that
What’s really crazy is neither o’Riley, autozone, or advanced auto parts list any wiring harness as comparable with a 2014 tail lights wiring harness. (They have ones that are compatible.)

Sounds to me to be the break switch. It right above the break pedal. Press the brake and release you should be able to tell what part it is. It’s like a button the pedal releases and the presses

For the sake of your pocketbook and your insanity I would just replace the whole light. Do not buy aftermarket.

Next time anyone who has this problem can just buy a new wire harness for $20-40 instead of replacing the whole assembly
Unfortunately, it melts the plastic itself so the wiring harness will not even stay in its hole where the lightbulb is

Sorry I don’t know. But the regular light bulbs melt the plastic they get so hot. That’s my opinion. Hope you figured it out. Have a good day

You can look it up on eBay. They usually say the years on there.
Well I'm riding around right now with 2 mix match tail lights, like that when I bought it. Not sure what year it is. But I drive a 2014

You have to get the factory warranty ones for at least $49 at least that's what the dealer said. I got one coming next week
