I had this problem twice, first time in 2018 dealer took it under recall, it happened again this week, the grommet had a hole; instead of a grommet, I used a small round magnet and placed it on the brake arm under the switch, permanent cost pennies and took all of 30 seconds.
I had this come back twice I used nickle coin second time but great idea magnetic should just stick there I had to glue it nice thinking
There was a recall for this issue?
@@MM-st2pf yes.
Look for brake light or brake pedal recall.
It's just a rubber grommet, that seems to wear out or break apart.
That sucker affects your Dole /Brake lights staying on which seems to cause your battery to drain and the computer to make a decision you want to stop and it will slow you down as you drive.
This also affects cruise control and another warning light ( forgot which one atm ).
@@MM-st2pf I doubt but it easy fix
@@pjfsr7024 who do we call for recalls?
Thank you so very much young man, you are so kind for posting this. I saw your video and asked my neighbor to please look at it. He saw the broken little part and went straight to it and fixed it. My car is a Honda accord 2005 almost 20 yrs old, I don’t want a new car just yet but every time something comes up I feel like, Ok it’s time. I’m relieved it’s nothing major and I can hold off a little longer. May God Bless you always💕
Yes I have 2004 accord love it and it’s gonna go 7 more year easy so should ur car!!!
@@RBTheMechanicI have a 2002 Honda Accord (my 2nd car and my 18 yr old son is using it for work/school). It only has 166,000 miles and a TON of brand new stuff I did to it with my mechanic. Spent around $2000 to have it in great condition for my son to use when he starts college in the fall. He should be able to get at least another 100,000 miles out of it if he takes good care of it. So….This happened today.. the lights stayed on even with the car turned off. I noticed it 2 hours after he had driven it when I went to the store. I didn’t know what to do so I just disconnected the battery cable for now. 😂 Hopefully this is the issue and I can fix it easily (I’m a single mom) If I don’t find the piece broken I’ll have to call my mechanic that works on my cars to come look at it. 😊
I salute you man, thank you. Because of people like you the world is a better place.
Thank u bro always here to help anyone that needs car issues fixed!!!
@@RBTheMechanic 🌝🌝🌝🌝🌝🌝
Just did this quick fix on my Honda! Used electric tape and folded paper. Thanks!
This video really helped me fix my Hyundai Elantra 2015 brake lights,
I got worried as i got home today to see these light's on and got me thinking it was some electrical failure.
Thanks to your video it saved my battery from draining and saved me from paying the mechanics
Nice job brother!! Glad u found my video!!
VALUABLE INFORMATION....YOU SAVED THE DAY BROTHER MAN....I fixed my car before the Big Storm tonight!!
Nice job!!! Good quick easy fix!!
Most auto parts stores have a package called Dorman brake pedal stops. $8 at most places.
OMG! THANKS MAN! My car started doing this a few days ago so I've been disconnecting my battery so it doesn't drain it. I saw that plastic piece and was planning on throwing it away, LUCKILY I DIDN'T. Thanks again, I'll get to fixing it in a bit 👌
Use one of those magnet coin looking thing u can get it from Home Depot this plastic will brake again. I had to redue it I used nickle coin and gluded it other wise it’s called gromet for brake switch u can get it from autozone
Man!! It’s late at night and I was fearful of a dead battery in the morning but placing the nickel there did the trick!!!!!! RUclips University is undefeated! THANK YOU
Yup good job
I can’t see in the video where is the nickel go?
Thank you!!!! My husband came home and told me my brake lights were on. His solution was disconnect the battery, mine was to fix it. Found your video and was instantly able to know exactly what was wrong. Found the broken piece on the floor and know what I need. In the mean time using a makeshift piece. Can’t tell you how much I appreciate your video! Thank you.
Nice job!!!! Glad you found my video!!
Your video was uploaded 3 yrs ago and just today, this happened to my subaru forester SH going home from work. I was about to remove both tail lights when I found your video!! I FOUND PIECES OF PLASTICS ON THE FLOOR! THANK YOU BROOOOO YOU ARE A LIFESAVER!!
Nice glad u found my
Video
It’s 2am in the morning, and you saved my car from being dead later in the morning. Thanks so much!
Good job bro!!!! Glad u found my video and quick!!!
Disconnect negative terminal if the you run through similar issue in the future
The Cruise Control went out on my 8 year old Hyundai Elantra then I notice the brake lights were stuck on. Thankfully I found your video and $1.03 out the door at the dealership fixed this issue. You definitely earned a like and subscribe!
Nice good job bro!!!
That’s a very common problem, we had in total 7 Hyundais in our Family in the last 15 years, and they all had the same issue. Even my new Sonata had a disintegrated brake padel dampener after just 3 years. I 3D printed it using TPU and it works like a Charme
Yeah I do lot of these
Wish you lived in Cleveland and could help!!!! Lol.
@@Mytry4realz if u even come jersey. North nj Bayonne area
Awesome quick fix! '95 Mercury Villager 260,000 mi. After watching your video saw the piece on the floor mat under the brake pedal. Stuck a rubber washer about the same thickness where it fell out and brake lights back to normal.
Good job
This is legendary content. I found a plastic piece in my Santa Fe and it fit perfectly
YOU HAVE BEEN SOOO HELPFUL!!! found the plastic piece in four pieces on the floor...like you knew it would be there!!! took some measurements and found a floor clip fit the hole and it went in no problem...put the plastic screw and ready. THANKS FOR POSTING! save me some dough!😎
Nice job bro!! Yeah this is common issue had u found my video !! Don’t forget to subscribe I always put up a video to educate everyone and know how it’s done u never know when u need to check somthing
Thanks RB The Mechanic. This was exactly the problem with my 96 Honda. The grommet feel out. I have an extra rubber piece and tape to keep it in place temporarily until I get it fix. I don't understand why some people gave you a thumbs down when you shared a solution to the problem. Take care Bro! 👍
Yeah it’s cool I try my best to help everyone
The thumbs down were the crooked mechanics who would have charged you $500 for the fix.
@@hjmcgill yeah hater!

@@hjmcgill I’m la number one poquito 💩 I think 💭 will do the right one ☝🏽
Thank you! This grommet fell off this afternoon, didnt know where it came from. I almost threw it away. You saved me hundreds of dollars.
Nice I used nickle coin plans glued it there so it’s will never brake and I put tape over it
Broooooooo i found the piece on the floor. Your a time and money saver
Yup easy fuse I redid this twice second time I glued Nikle coin with silicon
Me too omg thank you!
Omg i found the piece on the floor too!
Dude your comment made me look at the floor and I found the piece too before the video was 10 seconds through! Big shoutout to the person who made the video and the comment above!
I also found the rubber disc on the carpet today. That's a 'funds-saver'. Thanks from Ghana 🇬🇭
I had the same thing on my 2005 Sonata, brake lights staying on. I noticed pieces of a broken grommet on the floor, figured it was connected somehow so when I watched this video and you mentioned the same thing, pieces on the floor, sure enough, that was the problem! Thanks for this, now I just have to do a replacement, hopefully just the broken grommet.
Nice Kobe discovering this issue!!!
This just happened to my car. I saw this little brown piece of plastic and a few other pieces laying on the floor and looked under the dash at the brake pedal and saw that button along with some gritty residue, probably from that broken plastic. I'm not a mechanic so I wasn't really able to put 2 and 2 together so here I am watching your video. Mine is designed differently, but the principle is the exact same. I'm sure that little piece of plastic is going to cost at least $20.00 if not more. Thanks for saving me a lot of time, money and wasted effort.
Nice good discovery!! Easy fix
Thanks for this very useful video. I checked and the little rubber thing was on the floor and thanks to you I could fix it and enjoy some peace of mind and not drain the battery.
Yeah good job!!
Thank you for your help! I did it myself and it felt good! RUclips University teaches me everything!
Nice good job!!!!!
Just wanted to say thanks for making this video. Ir helped me alot identifying the issue. For other peeps who comes across this issue, I used a spare engine rubber tube, cut off a piece and just placed it where the spacer was. It fixed the issue lol. I'll probably leave that one there since it's thick and will probably last longer than the original break stoppers.
Glad u found my video
This helped so much couldn't figure it out for the longest. Thank u !
Cool good job finding it!!!
Thank bro. I had this issue this morning. Car battery was dead. Thank you so much for your assistance. God bless you.
Oh yeah battries dies over nights good find and quick fix!! I’m glad u found this video
Thank You, its amazing to find a simple, quick to the point video that actually fixes a problem. Do you have any idea what is the issue that causes the break and tail light bulbs to keep burning out every 4-7 months on these Hyundai's ? I have a 2012 Elantra that I have to replace the bulbs every few months, and have been told by other owners that they have the same problem and even people at repair shops..
I had similar issue try using electric grease in the connector
Okay 👍🏽 thanks, found the round silicone piece on the floor. It just cooled off and my neighbor just walked out of his pickup truck coming from work and I showed him this video. FIXED . ❤thanks Where can I get a replacement of this piece from ❓because it looks worn out but we held it together with electrical tape. It’s a Kia Soul 2013 base model.
Dealer or online however magnetic coil from home deport work well or penny tape it up
Had the same issue today and solved it, thanks to you brother
Glad I could help
This is EXACTLY what just happened and your video helped me fix it!!!!! Thanks so much for sharing my man!!!!

Hey man. Thank you for this. You really help me alot. May I ask what is the name of the part you were mentioning in the video? So maybe I can order it online.
Honestly no idea some type of grommet for brake switch I used the same one but car came back few months later then I glued down nickle coin and it’s been good ever since
Brake Pedal Stopper
@@CJ-fh5xq Thanks CJ!!!!
Used a magnet with some tape. Thanks for the information!!! God bless RUclips and this man!
Nice yes the magnets work great
Thanks for this.
Funny thing is I found the little rubber peice and didn't know what it was so stuck in cup holder. Neighbor calls and says hey your break lights are on.
I do research find your video and that internal light bulb went off
Nice I’m glad u found this video!! Easy fix best thing worked for me was magnetic coin from homedepot I got like 30 in stock quick fixers
Saved me today, bro!! Thanks a bunch!! 👍🏼👍🏼
Nice!!!! Good video !!! Glad it helped u!!
I also found the piece on the floor...Thanks big time! One question though.. Could I super glue it back on there or do I need to order a new part?
Order new part unless u wanna glue a nickle coin that worked best for me
I just found it on my car floor!!! Gorilla glued it back where it belongs! Thank you so much for your help!!
Nice job!!!! If u need to buy new one from dealer the part is called brake switch stopper should be like $10 but it would be fine just like that. Good job!!!
THANK YOU YOU JUST HELPED ME MY BATTERY HAS BEEN GOING DEAD FOR THE LAST MONTH !!! 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Nice job!!
Definitely taught me something... on the way to parts store now.... EASYYYYY FIX!!!
Glad u figured out this issue I used coin and tape it in place also magnetic coin work well it magnetizes right on and little bit tape will make it better
You are a hero. You're a lifesaver man. Kudos to you all the way out here from south east asia.
Yeah thank brother!!!
Man thank you so much, after watching your video, I noticed the small pice of plastic in the car floor, I glued it back to the pedal iron part that hits the button switch, and voila
Nice magmatic coin from homedepot works well
Thank you!!! It worked for me... found the little piece that fell off
Nice good job!!!
Thanks so much for this video. I found the little grommet on the floor it has basically disentigrated. Will hopefully be able to just buy the little piece.
You welcome they sell them at Autozone but if u can get those magnetic coin things from Home Depot it worked best for me
Thanks! You helped me a lot! The switch kept jumpong out of it's housing! So, an elastic band, super glue or araldite'll fix it! For sure!!!
Good job!!
Yessss. Thanks man. Rubber piece was on the floor aplllied silicone now it works.
Nice job!!!
Thank you very much my toyota 97 brake light gone , you are the best mechanic
Thank you!
Horn honk intermittent then solid and rear brake lights on solid pulled horn fuse, but not sure if that solved the problem
No clue what’s ur issue tho
I appreciate it , I was tripping out I got a Infiniti G35 and had the same problem
I have the same problem with my G35.

No problem glad video was helpful
What is the piece that broke like the name of it I’m tryna see if we could replace it
It’s called brake switch stopper.
After how many KMs does it usually happen?
No time frame but prolly after 50k miles it’s worn out and might fall off
@@RBTheMechanic ah i see, i found on the floor pieces of that plastic and what i did is i had some small magnet in my house and ive put it where the plastic was and now lights turn off like before, should i keep it like that with the magnet?
@@goranpavlovic9051 yuppp I used nickle coin and glued it there I didn’t think of the magnet before

Thank you very much, 🙏my car was fixed today
Nice good job!!!!
Does same switch controls all three brake lights?
Yup same switch
What is the official name of the Grommet Replacement Part?
Brake switch stopped
What if my brake lights randomly flash on and off like I taped the brake pedal, happens when the car is off or while being driven.
I’m not sure sum people out these flashing lights idk if u got that
So I went today and asked for switch..a brake switch. I have no idea really what I'm talking about...just happen to see my brake lights on and found you! Now I. Warching video again and see what I was sold was not a little white piece buy a black piece with a screw in it. He asked if I needed a 2 pin or a 4 pin. I didn't have any idea. He didn't know either so I'm sitting here with both and idk what to do next... can you advise me, please??😢
Well In This video for the brake switch stopper why don’t u go down there and push the button on the switch and light should turn off and if u find the part is missing out nickle coin on the spot and Tape it
I have a problem when I press my brakes the brake lights don’t go on, I brake and no lights come on what you think it would be
Start with changing ur bulbs could be bulbs are out check fuses for brake lights as well further more requires checking brake switch but do the basics first
So you can use a magnet or even some pennies? I'm guessing you can even use a screw and just screw it into the hole where the grommet used to be. Yes?
Yeah magnet is the best choice I did few of those
I would’ve never caught this, good shit bro
Cool!! Glad u found the video
Please, help me. When i press the brake in my Accord 2014 all lights turn on, even the quarter lights?
Ok check rear brake lights have some one look to see if they work when u press brake
Brooo, thank you so much for this. Saved me a lot of time and hassle!
Welcome!!! Glad video helped you
Had a problem with rear lights staying on. My mechanic informed me that the battery will not burn out that fast. Rear lights don't pull that much amperage. You do need to fix the problem though.
He’s crazy
what would make the tail lights stay on with car off or running i have to pull the fuses. its a 2007 hyundai accent se.
Check what I show in this video
