Omg! Thank you so much! I checked and that broken piece was all on the mat. Mechanics are close so I just put a part of the piece in position so the battery's car doesnt die. Thank you. Pura vida 🇨🇷
my dad came home today with the same problem. went on youtube and stumbled upon your video. saw pieces of broken plastic on the carpet under the brake. we put something in between for the meantime to turn the light off till we get that button type thing. thank you so much for this video
I actually searched for where I can find my break light fuse, to turn off the light, instead I found this. This is the real, unerline issue I had. Thank you bro!
Fantastic video. Suddenly I saw the break lights on at Walmart, I thought a faulty brake switch until I checked the brake pedal and saw an empty slot and a green plastic piece fell on the floor. Problem solved. Thank you very much.
This was so helpful. I fixed the problem. Here is another tip for those with the same problem - get a 'flip flop' and cut of the stopper from the underside. This stopper is exactly the right size. Strangely enough, I had cut one off only yesterday, so I took it to the car and it fit. So if you don't have the part, use that bit from the flip flop until you can get to a garage. 😘
Very helpful. I would have never thought to look there. I didn’t even notice there were pieces on the floor of my car until after watching your video. Thank You.
I also searched for fuse to shut off my brake lights and found this video and sure enough I found the broken plastic grommet. Thank you for posting this great trouble shooting video.
Sheeesh, thank you for the info. My rear lights were stuck on today and I looked down on the car mat and there was my issue. The piece broke off, easy fix. I’m glad we got RUclipsrs like you. 🙏
Same situation here...I was headed to work, came out to start up truck, and had no power... ok I thought, get my battery pack charger and charge my battery. Didnt notice my brake lights were on until it became dark outside... Then I scratced my hea s puzzled to what waa was going on. Checked fuses like one would do first, all checked out... Searched out youtube and saw your video... I laughed so hard when you mentioned the little green plastic pieces... Thats exaclty what I saw on my floor board the afternoon before.... I thought it was something I stepped in and didnt think twice about it..... I piked up the pieces and threw them away.... Now I know.... I feel excited now.... Thanks for your video Sir....
Very helpful, thanks so much. Found the broken gromet, found a replacement @ a local auto parts store, and after 10 min of angling under the steering wheel, I was able to push in the gromet! This saves me so much time and worrying about my battery before I could get to a mechanic. 🎉🎉🎉
Thanks for the accurate and to the point description of the problem. Yesterday my brake lights on my 02 Sequoia would not turn off. So I spent a little time on the Internet trying to find the issue. And I only spent a little time because of your video. After watching it I walked back out to my car and there were the little green pieces on the floor mat. Problem solved. Thanks again for your time.
Just watched your video, as my 2004 Tundra brake light were staying on. After watching your video, went back to the truck and found those little green plastic pieces on the floor board. Now that I know how to fix, it will be easy peasy.
It was about 11:30 at night on Saturday when my son saw his brake lights staying on. Your video gave me the temp fix needed until I could get the part or find a substitute. Thank you so much from a mom who is not a mechanic!
This just happened to me 2 days ago with my toyota echo. I replaced the battery thinking it was that. A co worker told me what this video explained at work last night and it made sense. Thanks
This was so helpful! Brake lights on, looked for green parts--they were THERE! 2004 Tundra, 220k miles. Actually called local dealer, picked up part for $5 and my husband got it installed with a little help from me and your video. Thank you!
2001' Toyota Sequoia: Thanks for a very clear and short video of the problem with solution. I bought the piece from O'rileys for &10 and installed it in 10 minutes.
my brother in law turned me on to the little clear stick things you put on cabinet doors so they don’t slam! same thickness as the broken plastic thingy.. clean the metal bracket and stick it on.. perfect! If it doesn’t stay for ever.. keep the rest in the glove box!
Thank you!!! You are one of the few who actually showed both where the part goes AND how it gets installed. It might seem super obvious to most people, but I fix a lot of different stuff on my 2000 Corolla and it still wasn’t entirely clear what I needed to do to get the bumper in the right spot. I appreciate this video so much!
I did replace with the rubber piece, but after about 2 years it wore down and the brake light kept coming on again. Then I replaced with the hard plastic piece ( similar to original) I think Auto Zone sells the kit with both rubber and hard plastic.. - may have to shave the hard plastic a bit like me to make it fit. That was 4 months ago, still working. I did this with the engine off and it was very difficult to do. So turn the car on as this video tells.
Thank you so much.. I have a 2002 honda crv and it did the same thing. Checked out your vid and it was that. I saw plastic parts on my floor mat. I put a piece of cardboard with tape until I stop by autozone to pick up the part.
Thank you for this post. We used a Mexican quarter for a temporary fix until we get replacement in, but exactly what you said the green pieces where on the floor
This just happened to me today in my 2003 tundra sr5 found the green plastic and everything thanks alot thought I was dealing with some electrical problem
Thanks for your assist! And I appreciated that you dropped the damn thing before you got it installed because, with my husband depressing the brake and me trying to push the button out of the way? The struggle was real. #truthinadvertising A few words might have been said before I finally got it seated under the switch so that it mounted. Whew! Car yoga accomplished!
Thank you so very much for this video. I was starting to freak out, and God led me to your video. Sure enough, I see the green bits on the floor. Thank you, and God bless you🙏🏽
My man I thought it had something to do with the break peddle and checked that before your video but didn't realize it needed that plastic there and what do you know I found that plastic your talking about! Thank you so much your the fucking man!
I have a 2003 Sequoia and this had me very worried. I went out and found the green parts all on the mat! Thank you! Kept jumping the car. I wish you could tell us the name of the part?
Mine was a little white bit of plastic in my Kia Sorento. Same issue, solved it myself after saw a video that showed where to fit the switch and I saw the Brake Light Switch Bumper part which was missing from mine. In my case I used a 30mm x8mm bolt instead of the switch bumper. I put the bolt through the hole for the bumper with the head facing the brake light switch, and put an M8 nut on the back of the bolt with a dab of locktite on it, held the bolt with some pliers while I tightened down the nut. I intended it to be a temporary fix but thinking about it I might as well just keep it like that. That bolt will last a lot longer than another plastic bumper.
Thank you so much this was also the problem with my car but instead of the rubber falling off , the little switch has dug a hole thru the rubber making it not press down!
My Toyota t100 had the same issue and I been driving around trying to get a bump to get my lights working and I decided to go to RUclips and first video I came across and I went and saw my mat with some small tab that broke
Wow, this helped my 2004 Tundra. I am using electrical tape sticky side out until I can get the part ordered. I saw the green plastic on the floor of my truck and laughed so hard
I have a 99 Camry found the pieces on the floorboard but they were brown. Someone left a comment they found them at a local auto parts store. The part is a brake pedal stop pad.
@@lilneki6910 lol my husband thought I was leaving and walked up to the window and saw no one and freaked out 😮😂 he called me saying I think we have a transformer lol 😂
Cracked me up when I looked at the floorboard and see the broken pieces of green plastic. Thank you so much.
What it called the part
Omg! Thank you so much! I checked and that broken piece was all on the mat. Mechanics are close so I just put a part of the piece in position so the battery's car doesnt die. Thank you. Pura vida 🇨🇷
The same happened to me and I did the same😂
I have a safety check appointment tomorrow and was panicking. A temporary fix of tape and a nickel did the job. 😂 Thank you so much!
