    ...'Hate' is a strong word. I think I shall 'hate' any and everybody that owns one of these cameras - until I own at least one as well... It is so nice to watch pro-photographers so hyped up with a camera - and since I have Canon gear, am happier.

    Actually top usable resolution from then most detailed film (Tech Pan) is 16 megapixels. 20 outperforms drums scans of any 35mm film.

    My 2nd time look at this vid. Great job, there's a lot of info here. fyi.. I'm 1DX ii shooter since release. Sports car races, see Lime Rock, Connecticut.
    Looking hard at R5. Battery life is problem. I'm use to getting 1000+ shots.

    David nice deep dive on the 1DxMKIII. Being a sports shooter that has both 1Dx Mark II and 1Dx Mark I bodys I am looking very hard at this camera body as a replacement for my 1Dx Mark I. I enjoyed seeing your Basketball photos at 12800 ISO. Very clean. I shoot in HS Sports and the Gyms are poorly lit. Where is the Auto Focus Video you did for the 1Dx Mark II body?

    If you shoot in HEIF mode will that camera still do high noise reduction like with a JPG ?

    • @DavidBergmanPhoto
      @DavidBergmanPhoto 4 года назад

      michael turner I believe so. Should still be the same settings whether you’re shooting HEIF or JPEG.

      @@DavidBergmanPhoto thank you! I see a lot of advantages to shooting in HEIF if the image quality is indeed better than JPEG.

    Is it just the screen resolution, but aren't the eyes in a but soft in the basketball shots? The lettering and other well defined parts of the photo's look great, but some of the facial features are less well focused.

    Great video, guys! Love hearing about this DSLR.
    And you both explained perfectly why optical viewfinders will always have fans among the pros (and anyone else messing with their own lighting or other extreme lighting situations) even as EVFs and mirrorless obviously have a place, as well. (Like, for instance, in grandpa's vacation bag...)
    Look forward to more of these!

  • @raymondwright7757

    What settings were you using to equal the max fps?

    • @DavidBergmanPhoto
      @DavidBergmanPhoto 4 года назад +1

      It was RAW+JPEG, but it doesn't really matter as it will always shoot 16fps optically, or 20fps in live view when shooting bursts (unless you set it to shoot slower).

    • @raymondwright7757
      @raymondwright7757 4 года назад

      The setting does matter. If you shoot at 1/10 seconds you will not achieve 16 FPS. Since when is raw + jpg a setting?

      No problem .
      Do you recommend this camera , when RF lenses are so good and next month the neW CANON MIRRORLESS IS coming ?
      And it looks like canon stoped making new DSLR lenses ...
      I have preordered the 1Dx MkIII but I’m still undecided if I did the right investment....
      Maybe I should switch slowly to mirror less ?

    • @DavidBergmanPhoto
      @DavidBergmanPhoto 4 года назад

      Dual Vanos I said in the video why I’m still more than happy to use a DSLR and this is the best one I’ve ever used. Yes I love the RF glass and I don’t know when new bodies are coming out. You just need to choose the right tool for the job so it just depends what you shoot.

  • @Stefan1968ful
    @Stefan1968ful 4 года назад +1

    Sorry, but the Canon 1DX Mark III is not really optimal for Wildlife. For great mammals the 20MP are maybe good enough. But for birds, especially smaller birds the 20MP don't allow you a lot of cropping what is crucial as you are usually quite far away. So yes, coming from the 1DX Mark II I am a bit disappointed. The sensor may be new but it based on the same old CMOS technology as in the 1DX Mark II. No BSI, no stacking. Nothing. No bueno.

    • @DavidBergmanPhoto
      @DavidBergmanPhoto 4 года назад

      Stefan1968ful What do you use then? Seems to be that autofocus on very fast moving subjects is key.

    • @Stefan1968ful
      @Stefan1968ful 4 года назад +1

      David Bergman That is for sure one important point in bird photography. And I would like to see how the 1DX Mark III can handle this. Compared to the 1DX Mark II and new cameras like the A9 II.
