Same with R7 And im partially even happy about it, R8 might be an awesome photo camera, but its missing IBIS, slow burst speed and still lower resolution sensor are somewhat limiting too much for my usecase, wildlife mainly
I am currently using Canon R50 with rf50 1.8mm. Sometimes, portraits are not super clear. Can someone advise what settings should I use for people portrait?
I have to disagree with the first pick, the canon R100 is a heavily stripped down version of the m50. I have an m50 mk2 and I can say with absolute certainty that the only good thing about the R100 is the access to the R lenses. But at this point in time, they have jack for rf-s lens and the lens they do have, that aren’t in the L line up, is meager at best. The R50 is a much better starting point for the R mount cameras from canon. If you want a good line up of lenses for aps-c sensor cameras either go Sony or Fuji. Honestly, Canon should at the very least open their rf-s line to 3rd parties, since they really don’t give much of a damn, at this point in time, for their aps-c users.
I have to disagree with your argument regarding to RF mount. I would rather prefer EF-M mount over RF(S) because there are many awesome native lenses and affordable, unlike the RF S system which has only bad native APS-C glass. i mean i like my R7 and the RF mount, but for other reasons: The EF RF adapter with filter inserts, so i have a single and very small/light filter set for ALL (!!!) EF lenses.
@@harrison00xXx I was referring to the longevity of the RF mount. For all intents and purposes, EF-M is dead, only real option is to get an EF/s to EF-M adapter to adapt older good glass. Which is what I’m more or less doing to an extent. I’m aware of the crap lens option for RF-S, but it can only improve with time (hopefully sooner rather than later)…..though I’m banking more on 3rd parties being able to bring nice RF-S glass.
For beginners with no money, a used XTi (350D) and whatever cheap Canon lens you can get your hands on is actually a great camera. It's only 10mp, but if you shoot raw, max out the ISO, and just clean it up in PureRaw3, you'll get some beautiful photos. Granted, that technically makes it a $180+ purchase, but PR3 will work with practically anything you upgrade to in the future, and it's a lifetime license.
But a 350D? I began in like 2007/2008 or so with a 400D and i hated it from the beginning. Seeing the ISO performance of a 5D II or even "just" 6D i was dissapointed even much more that it could handle at best ISO 400, ISO 800 looked super ugly and was basically a unusable photo. I would not want to have less than "good" quality ISO 1600 on MFT, ISO 6400 on APS-C and ISO 12800/25600 on full frame. The Canon EOS R7 i have is very close at the limit of getting "ugly" at ISO 6400, ISO 12800 is more or less the practical limit (for "good" image quality) the "ugly" description fits at ISO 16000 partially, ISO 25600 and very much at ISO 32000 video and 51200 photo (max ISO)
@@harrison00xXxThere will always be little technology. For some reason, increasing ISO on modern cameras has led to a deterioration in the color rendition of the cameras

"I think it is pretty hard to pick bad camera these days" Recomends R100 that doesn't have touch screen and can't use usb-C to charge. Making it worse than most EF or EF-M cameras.
USB-C and touch screen, oh my goodness. If it didn't have intervalopter access, no proper pin in the flash mount, like 4000D, you would have point. Any good photographer can make good art, a camera is a just tool, like a pencil is to an artist.
Well it still isn't good camera. If you want RF-mount one, the rp and r50 are pretty close to the same price point. Saw r6 on blackfriday for 990€. Canon just hobbled r50 and made it into r100. Used r50, r10 are in somewhat same price point as new r100. Recommending such camera, with stripped down usability is just lazy.
honestly a camera will always be better at taking photos than a phone but when u asked this question i think you should stick to buy a phone to be honest, start with the old dslr camera for a cheaper price since they work very well with beginner,i still shoot with them now.
why are there like a million different models?! I wanna start my journey, but all the companies and models are so confusing!!! it's just a downer and I don't wanna start at all 😕
Don't focus so much on the Body itself. Just get something to learn with and then you'lll notice relatively quickly what you think is important for you. Knowledge and Lenses are more important. Most Bodies in a Series are mostly technical Variations from each other and have some knicks and doodas that others might not. If you just want to do Photo pretty much everything works.
Canon did a very "interesting" and confusing job with their model numbers yes, beginning with 1000D and 1100D a bit, going worse with 200D (still its MUCH NEWER than the ancient 300D), 2000D etc. I would absolutely recommend not even looking into any Canon with a "D" at the end anymore, go for a Canon camera with (APS-C!) EF-M mount, good deals out there since its a "dead" system and people switch to RF (Full Frame!) mount or other brands. Or if you want a modern Canon, go for the RF mount (so a R10 or RP for the super low budget. R, R7 or R8 for the better midclass) Also, as the other guy said already.... focus on the lenses, they are like 80% the reason for the look and quality you get. Any more or less modern mirrorless camera give you pretty much all you need (considering your expectations are as basic as i think) My main issue with this absolute entry level cameras (R10, R50, R100,...), most of them dont even have any slowmotion mode with 120 fps, are missing 4k60, have small buffers for fast bursts if they are even fast at all, its sensors are absolutely lowest grade.... I upgraded/"downgraded" from a 2019 full frame camera (EOS RP) to the EOS R7 (APS-C).... its just a huge difference in processing and burst speed, as well in autofocus and video capabilities. There is a reason why many people will recommend to avoid some of these cameras, especially the R100 or R50, hell even the R10 sucks (too expensive and delivering not much)
Im so sorry for you that you dont like adapting EF glass. I really appreciate the RF mount: - small RF lenses with good weight/performance/focal length ratio - With a very affordable EF RF filter adapter (Meike...) you can use a small and light filter set for ALL (!!!) EF lenses. - EF RF filter adapter and mainly relying on EF lenses also gives you the ability to change lenses endless without risking any dust in the camera or sensor. - EF lenses autofocus doesnt get worse, it even IMPROVES Just for the EF RF filter adapter part with its dust protection capabilities and the good working EF glass i really like the RF mount. The only reason to avoid the RF mount in my case would be the fact that canon doesnt give a sh*t about APS-C users (and im one, EOS R7), but im fine with it since i use mainly EF(S) (Sigma 150-600, Sigma 50 2.8 macro, Canon 17-55 2.8, vintage glass in m42 adapted to EF adapted to RF,......) and partially small RF primes (50 1.8, 800 F11), rarely a RF-S 18-150 zoom.
@Indomitabledraken yea but the r5 has actually resale value, even with the (admittedly not great) kit lens. If you keep with it, no point in blowing 1500 on a mediocre camera, then 5-8k later as opposed to just starting with good kit, otherwise, low shutter used R5s are high demand and hold 85-90% value. Learned that with guitars years ago. Starting on bad kit only discourages most people. Better a Fender than a FirstAct, yknow?
noooo you didn't just recommend the R100 it makes the M50 look like a good value in comparison. Canon really didn't mess around with the cripple hammer on that thing they even removed the fucking touch screen cmon bro, you can get an M6II used for that kind of money it's ridiculous you didn't make a list of the best beginner Canon camera, you just took the RF line, and listed cameras from the bottom of the list. Spoiler alert : those are NOT the best value for money a beginner can get in Canon world. This is just lazy, no other way to put it. If you wanna do camera buying advice videos, do them but take the time for research BEFORE turning the camera on that would save you this kind of disappointment (and you help better the people that follow you)
As long you dont listen to this guy... R10 is at best a somewhat "good" and affordable choice, R50 is... well whoever is into this super low end stuff, and R100 wont even impress someone with a >300$ smartphone....

When it comes to the best canon bodies for beginners, i would only see the R7, at worst R10 in their RF APS-C cameras, otherwise only the EF-M mount cameras 2nd hand (so M50, M6 Mk2 etc) or on full frame at best a R, RP or R8 if you can afford it.
This Watzac guy is as useless and wrong as always
Or just buy a used DSLR. Lots of cheap lenses still does great pictures, good way to learn and you can get 6Ds, 5Ds and even 1D pretty cheap nowadays without even mentioning the Crop Factor ones.
Nothing "future proof" in a DSLR! But, you are right, a great way to learn photography, and a lot of bang for the buck!
@@alansach8437 It depends on the Definition. I think for one self as a Person a DSLR can still be considered Futureproof. Its an aging ecosystem yes but you can get great Bodies and great Lenses at good prices and you have the Space to learn, improve and find out what you really want from your Camera. Chances are that with a more technically future proof camera like say the r100 you will quickly reach the limits of the camera and consider the next best body upgrade without really knowing why or what is important to you.
Nikon D3500 is pretty damn good
What about the smallest DSLR?
What about r7?
Whats the best camera under 175$?
And when it comes to night, you'll be fitting on a HUGE 1.2 lens to compensate for bad ISO performance
Me watching this with an EOS 1500d/ 2000d
What about mirrorless cameras?
These are all mirrorless
Any of theese cameras here are more than 5.000$ and a lot of people are saying they are garbage... Now im even more worried.
Canon m50 mark ‼️ left the chat
I love my camera it is a canon t1i
R5
I would rather suggest the M50 instead of garbage R100.
I have a Canon T6 lol. I need help.
You missed R30
nobody ever mentions the M6 Mark II
Hes getting paid (by canon) to advertise the cameras Canon doesnt sell. And its obvious.... R10, R50 and R100 are WORST VALUE for its money
So you believe that if it has a mirror, don’t buy it. 🤦♂️
Can’t say that I agree. But you’re leaving a lot of outstanding options out of the conversation.
Me watching this with a Canon Eos R 💀
Lmbo! 🤣🤣🤣
U can watch youtube on camera now?
@@RaidenShogun_CookingChannel nah I meant to say I have an Eos R so like why am I getting this video suggested only now lmao
The new R8 is just and updated R so you’re not far behind. He didn’t mention it because they discontinued the R for it
Do not get the r100 lol. You'll be stuck as a beginner until you upgrade
that's.. the point? it's a beginner camera?
@@striderwhiston9897 why get a camera that you won't be happy with as soon as you learn the basics?
@@bensonemery It's a great camera, and really it has all you need to take great shots, you get a shit ton of features and a great sensor for the price.
If you don't wanna spend too much, it's a really really good choice.
Whats not great about it? Genuinely asking as im just starting out.
@@mariahfritsch3650 you might find yourself upgrading in the future since it lacks some features but that's about it.
I was considering the R50, until I learned Canon won't be making 3rd party RF lenses...
I'm pretty sure Canon and Sigma are talking about getting some new third party lenses
@@telecomanda
Too late, got an a6400 that I'm enjoying immensely. Ironically enough, I'm interested in that 18-50mm f/2.8 from Sigma as an upgrade to my kit lens...
@@benjaminzarkhin1293 The a6400 is an amazing camera, good choice really! Wish you an amazing time with it. As for the upgrade, I highly suggest you get rid of the kit lens and get that one instead, the kit lens is great for getting you started but the superior quality from non-kit lenses is worth the extra money. Also it's Sigma so you know they're good haha. I have a Canon R10 and I bought it body only and used an old EF 50mm F1.4 (a lens from 1993!!!!) and it was light-years better than the 18-55mm kit lens you get with most cameras.
Then the M50 it is!
@@Miguel-fm8xh
Sure, with a total of 16 lenses made for it over 5 years.
"I think it is pretty hard to pick bad camera these days"
Recomends R100 that doesn't have touch screen and can't use usb-C to charge.
Getting sick of all this equating tech with taking good photos. Taking good photos is having an eye for lighting and composition.
which is best r10 or iphone 14 pro?
honestly a camera will always be better at taking photos than a phone but when u asked this question i think you should stick to buy a phone to be honest, start with the old dslr camera for a cheaper price since they work very well with beginner,i still shoot with them now.
Thanks for your reply. Can you tell me which camera and model are you using?@@dazess1608
Me just having bought a $500+ Sony as a beginner... (I love it tho)
Good thing the zv-1f has the lens in the price as well
why are there like a million different models?!
R, R7 or R8 for the better midclass)
Also, as the other guy said already.... focus on the lenses, they are like 80% the reason for the look and quality you get. Any more or less modern mirrorless camera give you pretty much all you need (considering your expectations are as basic as i think)
My main issue with this absolute entry level cameras (R10, R50, R100,...), most of them dont even have any slowmotion mode with 120 fps, are missing 4k60, have small buffers for fast bursts if they are even fast at all, its sensors are absolutely lowest grade....
I upgraded/"downgraded" from a 2019 full frame camera (EOS RP) to the EOS R7 (APS-C).... its just a huge difference in processing and burst speed, as well in autofocus and video capabilities. There is a reason why many people will recommend to avoid some of these cameras, especially the R100 or R50, hell even the R10 sucks (too expensive and delivering not much)
The only reason I am not even considering buying these cameras is that Canon RF mount doesn't have any third party lenses.
Im so sorry for you that you dont like adapting EF glass.
I really appreciate the RF mount:
- small RF lenses with good weight/performance/focal length ratio
- With a very affordable EF RF filter adapter (Meike...) you can use a small and light filter set for ALL (!!!) EF lenses.
- EF RF filter adapter and mainly relying on EF lenses also gives you the ability to change lenses endless without risking any dust in the camera or sensor.
- EF lenses autofocus doesnt get worse, it even IMPROVES
Just for the EF RF filter adapter part with its dust protection capabilities and the good working EF glass i really like the RF mount.
Me questioning if I should upgrade from my M50 to the R10 for more buttons🥲😂
No, keep your m50 or go straight to the R7 for real improvements
But R7 is APS-C too, so what improvements do I get?@@harrison00xXx
Sony.
or save up for an R5 that won't go obsolete in 5 years
@Indomitabledraken yea but the r5 has actually resale value, even with the (admittedly not great) kit lens.
Aps-c sensor 😢.
Don't buy new entry level cameras. Buy used stuff. You can get used DSLRs for much less
Is like 960 in my country
noooo you didn't just recommend the R100
it makes the M50 look like a good value in comparison. Canon really didn't mess around with the cripple hammer on that thing they even removed the fucking touch screen
cmon bro, you can get an M6II used for that kind of money it's ridiculous
you didn't make a list of the best beginner Canon camera, you just took the RF line, and listed cameras from the bottom of the list.
Spoiler alert : those are NOT the best value for money a beginner can get in Canon world. This is just lazy, no other way to put it. If you wanna do camera buying advice videos, do them but take the time for research BEFORE turning the camera on that would save you this kind of disappointment (and you help better the people that follow you)
Sorry I'd get a Fuji over a Canon ..... colours in a Canon are not as good as Fuji
i got a powershot g11💀😭
Me watching with a Canon T6
As long you dont listen to this guy...
R10 is at best a somewhat "good" and affordable choice, R50 is... well whoever is into this super low end stuff, and R100 wont even impress someone with a >300$ smartphone....
The 1st one C R100.. I don't know anyone that says you should buy it. Yeah $480 BODY ONLY...oops did he leave that out? He knows it.. odd huh. All body only. Best to NOT go by his advice
No
sometimes police sells their cameras for really few bucks
Me in 2024
im just chilling with my 200d that i picked up for 210$
Is it good ? Iam looking at a good deal on Facebook market place. Should i get it ?
@@deepankumar2942 For the price and as a beginner i think it’s a solid choice. Look up some videos of it
Lmao Imma get either a 600d, 650d or a t5. I ain't got 400$
Just buy a used canon m50... Better value than all of these
my budget is 100
I dont think he knows what a beginner camera is, why spend almost 1k on a camera jf you have no idea what to do with it. Buy something like a 500d and learn what photography is and then upgrade when you need to
R100 😂😂😂
