Thanks for the advice and presentation of all these products. The Smallrig dummy battery will definitely end up in my bag as it will power my external monitor as well as my camera. Awesome setups and information! Thank you!
@@VideoMakerTwist Hi! I got my Smallrig battery Yesterday and I just tested it connected to my monitor (PortKeys PT5 II) and my camera (R6 Mark II) for an hour straight: the battery lost 18% only! Thank you again for your video which allowed me to get this great addition to my setup! 🙂
Thumbs up for the SmallRig NP-F battery charging plate. I use that as well. It's so much more compact than using a V-Mount battery, but both options are viable for however a filmer likes the camera to feel in the hands.
but that introduces more heat, and in hot climates that defeats the purpose if the camera overheats, Dummy bats dont heat the camera anywhere near as much
Why did I never think of this? It's not even a new concept-I’ve seen it before, similar to how tapes work when you want to record them digitally. This is just a battery version of that idea, so why didn't I think of it? I might look into it for my D7500. It could also ensure my phone is always charged, so I don't have to carry around more power banks than necessary. With a 10,500mAh battery, I should be able to use it for both for about 6-7 hours.
Nice! Great video and a neat set up for power. I like using the Anton Baur base battery but this seem to be cheaper ? Regardless.. cool insight on the Smallrig accessory
I have an S5iix on order and I got the smalllrig npf monster off ebay. It's great. I only got one because I wanted to test it out but it looks super-good. I also have the dummmy battery for the S5ii with the ISB-C connector. I thought the NPF mount from smallrig was expensive, but now that I think about it, it's still worth it. I ordered a tilta rig and got the ari style handle which is designed to embed the NPF970 plus a samsung SSD drive (I picked up 2 of those). All this stuff sure as well adds up.
The other advantage of using the NPF to power the dummy battery instead of plugging a wall charger into the dummy battery is that you don't have to worry about power surges or "dirty" power shortening the lifespan of your precious camera.
I am also really turned off by a massive buly v-mount style battery that sits behnd your flipout screen. The NPF formfactor and size is perfect compromise for long-run shoots.
You're welcome! I don't think the Smallrig battery has enough charging power for a laptop. To be able to charge a laptop you will need the Anker 737, it's the best choice for this task.
For all the headshots and for some of the broll, I used the R6 II. For the rest of the shots, I had to use my older Canon EOS R which is not so crisp even when using 4K.
How reliable on startup is it? My experience using powerbanks and dummy batteries is that there are small micro interuptions on startup (startup of the powerbank from sleep). Which leads to several attempys to power on your camera. Then, if you plug something into another usb port, thereis another micro interuption. I'm using anker powerbank.
I use a Canon R6 mark II. This camera doesn't have the 30 minute recording limit, and it also doesn't overheat at 4k 25p or 30p. It overheats in 4k 50p and 60p, but only near the 2 hour mark. What camera do you have?
The direct usb-c connection can generate an over heating issue with the camera. A dummy battery has a better heat dissipation. Direct USB-C with the camera can also cause some problems with power delivery in scenarios like 4k 60p.
@@z352kdaf8324 can't imagine it's enough to matter, his video is not even in 60 fps so i don't see how a minimal timing difference like 10 ms will be a big deal here
@nindoninshu I'm not sure if he recorded directly to camera or synced external device. The audio sound great though. Just looks like an almost perfect lip sync.
@@z352kdaf8324 i suppose it could be due to that but usually as long as you have two audio tracks (one from the camera's internal recording) the syncing will be perfect
Great video! I need to buy the LLANO charger but for Sony. It looks great, and I think it's crazy useful. I have the NPF, and I love it, but I'm also thinking about buying the big power bank from Anker. That has huge power, and I really need it. Great setups, my friend!
Thanks for the feedback, Gabriel! The Anker 737 is very practical and it's blazing fast when charging. I recommend it to anyone, not just content creators. The SmallRig battery is well built, and your video inspired me to buy it. I don't regret it at all!
100 бачей за зарядку?))))) пасиб, купил себе тогоже kingma на два аккума, рублей за 800, идеально справляется со своей задачей и никаких переплат за визуальные понты =)
No! Better use additional USB power on long shoots, you can change NP-F without stopping recording. To avoid overheating, use normal cameras for video, fx30 for example. Power bank with dummy can accidentally shoot down, and you loose last recording. Smallrig is overpriced brand, you can find better and cheaper.

The llano battery is huge, wish they are more compact version

Great info. Some items I've not seen before. Thank you.
Orange is my favourite colour too!
Nice info.
Use the USB C in in the camera for Power delivery, with a normal battery inside, so if it fails your recording wont stop

@@KapitroInfiniteArtworks You think? I've never tried to be honest
I do this method flawlessly on a Lumix. Ive never seen it overheat and it definitely doesn't feel hot.

How did you overcome the recording limit of 30 minutes and did your camera run hot or overheat?

What do you need the dummy battery for? Can't you just plug the usb-c into the usb-c port of the camera?
