  • The highlight of the Yeats2015 calendar: Yeats Day was celebrated over four days across Sligo this June, marking 150 years since the poet’s birth on June 13th in 1865.
    Included in this video:
    Abbot of Glenstal Abbey, Mark Patrick Hederman speaks about Yeats and singer Mary McPartlan singing at The Model’s Candlelit Salon
    The following scenes include the Yeats Day Street Party including Fionn Roger’s large-scale Yeats puppet and Rose of Innisfree breakfast tour of Lough Gill.
    Also included are scenes of the Lake Isle of Innisfree and the winning architectural installation ‘Square Moon.'
    Joanna Lumley opens Yeats Secret Garden by garden designer Lorely Forrester at The Model.
    Orla Kiely opens Lily Lolly Craftfest and Margaret Kilcoyne performs in the ‘Daughters of Emer: The Story of Lilly & Lolly Yeats’ which was commissioned for the craft festival.
    Edna O’Brien speaks as guest of honour at the Nobel Laureate Dinner
    Pollexfen House speakers included are Dr. Colette Kavanagh speaking about “Yeats and Women” and Irish Ambassador to Great Britain Daniel Mulhall speaking about “WB Yeats and the Ireland of his time”.
    Closing scenes include Chair of the Yeats2015 Steering Committee, Senator Susan O’Keefe opening the Poet Laureate and National Poets event at IT Sligo followed by President Michael D. Higgins, Patron of Yeats2015, commending the six female Poet Laureates and National Poets in attendance.
