- You've seen all the fake GameCube Joycon Renders. I decided to make real ones. This video was several months of assembly and several months of editing. Hope you enjoy it.
These JoyCons are real, but they are not for sale. They were a pain to make, and I will not be making another set.

I honestly don’t know why anyone would skip ahead just to see the controllers in action. The real entertainment comes from your trial and error, the tough things you went through and the meticulous detail you added to get these controllers just right, and the amazing feeling you get when you see them completed. I come back to this video every few months just to be amazed. Fantastic work, Shank. I love your content. Keep it up.

@@harveersidhu It’s not exactly an original idea. Everyone joked about the possibility of GameCube joycons ever since it was revealed the switch had detachable controllers. Shank just gets to say he actually made one first.

Like all their gameboys since the Gameboy Pocket have been the same dimensions. GB Pocket = GB Color = GB Advance = GB Advance SP (opened) = Nintendo DS (Closed) = Nintendo DS Lite (Closed) = Nintendo 3DS (Closed) and arguably the 3DS XL/New 3DS when closed, although they're slightly bigger.

I stongly believe that jumping into the deep end of hobbyist projects is the best learning experience you can get. You'll make mistakes along the way, but ultimately learn way more than doing numerous simple projects.

If someone doesn't disconnect their bluetooth controller mid-match someone can unknowingly interrupt a match causing an argument, I think thats a reason Joy-Cons are banned.

3 years later we now have the Nyxi Wizard which is a GameCube Joycon replica.
I love this, there's alot of attempts out there to make something like this. Honestly I think this is by far the coolest.

@@jordanlaquey5325 Joy-cons have well documented reliability issues, particularly with the thumbsticks. Shank used Wii U Pro / Switch Pro Controller sticks instead, which are a much more traditional size, and much more reliable. They'll likely outlast the sticks he ripped out.

What's insane to me is the fact that this are the only GameCube Joy-Cons that exists in the whole world.

It's so fascinating seeing all these custom mod projects, which goes to show the importance of research & development departments. Awesome job! Joining the modding community seems like fun but as you mentioned at the end it costs quite a bit of time and money. So the most I can probably do is just watch. Though I guess I can start really small and check out those custom Joycon button replacements.
