    Dude, this is wild to see after coming across that HWPC in the warehouse back then. Props for actually finding a way to cram all of that tech into the cramped lil thing, I know how hard these are to work with. And the additional monitors, subwoofer, pads and other additions are fantastic. As mentioned over email last year, I'm really glad that Hot Wheels PC ended up finding a home, these goofy things deserve to live a new life 👍
    Also what the heck, Dallas Computer Works closed? That's a shame, it was a neat little shop to visit.

    It’s pretty cool that nowadays, we have actually ironed out the kinks with small form factor boards and PC’s. The hot wheels and Barbie computers were good examples of how unprepared the 90’s folks were for machines of that type. Honestly think that the first true useable small form factor computer was the Mac Mini, and since then most small form factor boards have continued that square design with huge improvements to functionality, added integration, and cooling solutions. Also nice to see you use the shucking method too! I’ve done that to get larger drives for my computers. I gutted a 8TB portable drive to put into my main rig with its other hard drives. Now I have 17.5 TB but one day I hope to boost that to 25.5TB one day.

It's lovely to see someone so dedicated to even the smaller details about his projects. Thank you, I never had a Hotwheels PC but I saw many ads of it throught childhood. • @rusefoxghost
      @rusefoxghost Год назад +38

      The reason why, is that CRT monitors don’t actually use pixels. Because of this, nothing can really look pixelly. It could look fuzzy, but not actually pixelly. Technology Connections has excellent videos about them that I recommend, cause I can’t describe it nearly as well.
      As a side note, it’s also why old 2d pixel games look so much better on those old screens. The way the image fuzzes together, the pixel graphics of the game also blend together a bit making much nicer shapes and backgrounds. It’s one of the reasons why retro gamers like them so much.

I like the fact you retained the original functions, might as well go all the way. ;) I wonder how much better wider, slim profile fans would be on the gpu's. I've seen it done in itx builds.
