Such a cool idea for a sponsor. I know it's for PR, but Microcenter really did save this eh Edit: I hope LTT sees this, and brings this series to a happy end. A Hotweels sleeper with a 3090 would be *insane*.
I enjoyed this way more than I expected! Whenever someone says "buyer's remorse" I always think back to the Hot Wheels PC I bought for my son when they were new. Vile thing couldn't even handle the games that came with it. Sold it and built him a real pc. Kinda sucks that they are becoming collectable now. BTW: Love the "Mythbusters" level of excess!
The reason why, is that CRT monitors don’t actually use pixels. Because of this, nothing can really look pixelly. It could look fuzzy, but not actually pixelly. Technology Connections has excellent videos about them that I recommend, cause I can’t describe it nearly as well. As a side note, it’s also why old 2d pixel games look so much better on those old screens. The way the image fuzzes together, the pixel graphics of the game also blend together a bit making much nicer shapes and backgrounds. It’s one of the reasons why retro gamers like them so much.
Basically all of them did when CRT was the status quo in technology. that's why games of the era look far better on CRT rather than LCD@@nickforgie4290
Dear god, I’m not even into pc builds but this is the greatest thing ever. Every time I think it’s over and you can’t go higher this man smashes it out the god damn park, the PC is such an abomination I love it. Great work man, genuinely one of the most funny and entertaining videos I’ve seen in a long, long time.
Also knowing that about the CRT supremmacy is encouraging: my own dream PC is a similar "Modern take on an old icon" idea, but I want to take one of those "boring" beige office setups and make it a modern gaming pc. Having a delicious CRT monitor would only add to that.
I want to do this so bad but the PC is so hard to find now, and when you do it's and insane price usually. Someone need to recreate the case with a modern ITX layout.
I remember working on several of these monstrosities back in the day as a younger IT professional. Mad props for what you accomplished with these antiques.
I really love everything about this adventure and the final product to start off with. 9:16 - Please note not to put the motherboard right on the anti-static bag. It's like hellfire for electronics.
I had no idea that Microcenter was such a cool space, it really reminds me of how Fry's Electronics was to walk around as a kid based on the footage you shared, the they progressively got more sad to look at as interest & stock diminished. Maybe someday I can make pilgrimage to the Microcenter. RIP Fry's Electronics, where the best buys always are, guaranteed.
Cut the rear fan grill out and replace it with a wire type, you'll get way more airflow. These old fan grills blocked like 50% of the airflow that's being forced through them. I like the fact you retained the original functions, might as well go all the way. ;) I wonder how much better wider, slim profile fans would be on the gpu's. I've seen it done in itx builds.
this was absolutely wild dude, I loved this idea entirely it's just way too cool to have not been done and you sent this project on a flaming track course of genius work, seeing it all come together from start to finish was an absolute wild ride you nailed it.
I loved the video and the effort that went into making all this happen. Never knew something like a CRT would ever make a resurgence in this day and age and yet it still looks so cool and brings back a lot of the nostalgia brought on by PCs from the 90s and early 2000s
This is an incredibly well done sleeper! All the power of a modern PC, with the exact same looks as stock. You could even go back to stock if you really wanted to since no serious permanent mods were done. Bonus points in my book.

Every time I think I couldn't love MicroCenter any more, they make something awesome like this happen! Excellent marketing, awesome video!
And I just found out there's one in my area... so guess what my new weekend plans are!
Theres no micro centers in canada :(
Sadly no micro center in kazakhstan
No Micro Centers in Turkey :(
He played Microsoft flight simulator on it
You made a massive flex of a gaming PC, probably the best setup I've ever seen.
As someone who has never built his own PC before, this video fills me with a new inspiration I've never before experienced.
as long as you arnt going for custom liquid cooling its not to hard but you will need to watch videos and ask communitys
Opinions on a specific one? My family has an old pc I would like to modernize, but it.... Is leaking liquid. No clue why.
@@pg13snipez well I meant like building a custom pc with modern parts off the shelf, if your old pc is a normal pc and it dosnt have liquid cooling or a pelter id imagine its a leaking capacitor but i cant be too sure
i recently built my new pc. its worth it... as long has you can be patient... and gentle and slow.
@@pg13snipez i suggest just going full off the shelf. as the start of this video said, old pc cases just weren't built for the high temps components can get up to now.
These computers couldn't have fallen into any better pair of hands, such love, passion and finesse was executed while you made the builds! Very awesome, great work!
this is one of the coolest projects i've seen in a while, would love to see it running with an 3090 for the overkill
deshroud that mf + more blowy bois and you should have decent temps.
I watch this video 2 years ago and it’s one of my favorite
I don't know why this video showed up in my recommendations, but I'm glad I watched it. I've never been physically intimidated by a PC build before but when I saw smoke coming out of that exhaust pipe I felt something in my soul shiver. You're a goddamn mad man and I love it. +1 sub
Same. But I know why though. I was watching vintage 80's toy restorations and this popped up. Weird huh?
Love how every negative had a positive to fire back at it, absolutely amazing final builds!! Completely unexpected stuff throughout all of this :O
Also, nice car, really fits you! :] Extremely awesome video :)
yes1
I verified i comment you like :/

Such a cool idea for a sponsor. I know it's for PR, but Microcenter really did save this eh
Edit: I hope LTT sees this, and brings this series to a happy end. A Hotweels sleeper with a 3090 would be *insane*.
As much as I really hope they do take him up on the offer, they already did a video with the hot wheels pc about a year ago so it’s unlikely :(
@@garlckbread yeah I know... would be cool though
they need to bring this MAN into the studio.
its would be such an epic video!
That is bad asses. And the one time I felt compelled and excited about an in video add. I'm gonna look them up.
Crazy how the monitors managed to look this good in quality. Thought they were going to be really pixelly, but didn't look too bad. Good job!
Some game companies actually exploited the fuzz for their games
6:00 it’s always been “In THE Barbie World” now. Mandela Effect. Can’t believe nobody else noticed this.
Basically all of them did when CRT was the status quo in technology. that's why games of the era look far better on CRT rather than LCD@@nickforgie4290
@@nyccollin chalking up a misspoken phrase of a old ass kids movie is ridiculous, stay off the internet for a little bit brother
Man, your power bill must be high with all those CRTs and that sleeper PC 🤣
Very sick build! Nicely done.
Amazing! Doing this project was fun to watch! Great job! 👍
Thanks to MICRO CENTER for helping bring this to life. Truly an amazing build.
The directing of the video. The storytelling script. The super nerdy jokes. The insane project. I loved every single second of this short film!
That was genuinely beautiful, I never expected a CRT to be optimal.
Micro center is the best place for cheep but high end tech I love them
This is one of the most entertaining videos I've seen in a while.

I really love everything about this adventure and the final product to start off with.
9:16 - Please note not to put the motherboard right on the anti-static bag. It's like hellfire for electronics.
I've heard that the bag can "Trap" static electricity and it'll discharge it and fry components.
I'm old enough to remember when they were solicited. I love what you did. Thanks Micro Center and the Controller lady, sorry I forgot your name.
Spicy frog
"the only one they fear is you" when unveiling how the hot wheels sleeper pc plays in its finality is a choice and i love it
I'd fear a man who can turn a partially corroded piece of junk into the ultimate gaming setup
I build my first Gaming Pc in Micro Center Aurora Colorado Back in 2008 awesome dudes .
19:08 LMFAOOOOO THAT SPEAKER HAD ME DYING 💀
If you were a kid in the 90s, and love pc tech, you understand how nostalgic it is to see this transformation. Your journey was well worth it.
Such a cool project shank, you never miss!
It is a really cool project!
bro this is like 10 videos in 1 video haha. so good.
Hello shottysteve. Hope you're having a good day so far good sir
22 divided by 10 is 2(.2). Most videos aren't 2 minutes.
he 100% missed the chance to insert that wiener floppy disk into the barbie computer as a joke :(
@@snow_the_dev ok roblox kid, he meant 10 video IDEAS in 1 video
Bring guide to global back
>”I’ve got one more idea”
>”the 3090 is a half-length card”
I really, REALLY hope that idea comes to fruition
bro this is soooooo sick .... I want a hotwheels pc now too
this was absolutely wild dude, I loved this idea entirely it's just way too cool to have not been done and you sent this project on a flaming track course of genius work, seeing it all come together from start to finish was an absolute wild ride you nailed it.
Someone should show this to Linus I feel he’d be really intrigued by this, also would be a cool collab if he took up his offer
This project clearly took a lot of work and it shows. Nicely done!
Every once and a while i rewatch this video. It makes me happy:)
13:08 That is a powerfull fan.I don't like the cramped build but you have have done well installing excellent tech in that small space.
Off-topic but is getting a sleeper ok if everything fits and all but the case is just old.
One-Legged Legend by The Happy Alright genuinely feels so 'early-2000's barbie media' in a kind of Blink 182/Counting Crows/Busted kind of way. It was such a fitting song to play there lol
This pc is just like a Miata. The question is always the same:”What will fit in this small space and is completely insane.”
There are Miata hotwheels though
It's like a Nissan Patrol: Standard from the outside, but can dust a Lamborghini with a little modification
This will go down as one of the most legendary setups in history.
I genuinely have no idea why this video only has a million views, it deserves at least ten million.
A year late but seeing something related to my childhood is such a tearful thing
