If were going for a reuniting, I'd much rather see Palmeiri back in a Devils uni. Right now, he's better than Hall and would probably welcome a return. Hall has bounced around a lot since leaving here and that concerns me. I dont need him in Hughes' ear about playing somewhere else.

Great segment! The more time goes on the more I see the value in Palat. He is a good corner guy which means puck possession, and when he does face offs he is good as well. When you add those things up, the Devils have the puck. He is also defensively responsible, and can occasionally score. Yep, in summation - Palat’s needle points toward more pucks heading in the direction of opposition ice. With the Hall scenario - I like Hall on line 3; Palat up on lines 1 or 2.

Don’t forget his MVP speech and how he credited his success to playing with Nico. They already have chemistry together and help each other’s style of play. As we build for playoffs and round out roster, I think the approach is to have all 4 lines as kind of a hybrid that can all log significant minutes combining skill l, defense and physicality, creating matchup nightmares. We have a very unique and tough skillset to match when utilized correctly, especially by adding a skilled winger and one more physical and skilled centre man. Fun projected roster to picture with reasoning behind it…

As a win now move, Taylor Hall would be a welcome addition to add depth to the roster. The biggest thing going for Hall is he knows the clock is ticking. If he was on a team that could make a run, I do think he would be motivated to give it his all as it could be his last shot at a deep run. Perhaps being looked at as a bit of a mentor in Chicago has matured him as well.

@@runninwiththedevils It's not a big assumption at all. He has NEVER been interested in executing his defensive responsibilities as his career statistics clearly indicate. The big assumptions would be: 1) to assume that he's suddenly going to change his game. And if he does "take on a different role" then 2) to assume he's going to give us better production than the players we already have despite his new role. As for the Devils legacy, of course we don't NEED him to live up to that, but fair or unfair, right or wrong, that's what the fans will expect. We've seen it a million times when aging players return to a place of past glory. He's not the player we need.

No brainer for me. In Hall's last NJD stint, he was expected to be a leader, something I do not think he had any interest in being, and that is OK. He had a legendary year, followed by injuries and bad teams. He could come in, immediately help on the ice. I do think he is a good guy off the ice, he just couldn't be the face of the team and didn't want to be. If the locker room likes him, do it. I am sure his partying days are over too... He is married and has a kid now. Will Butcher was great that year, his rookie year. I thought he was going to be a Devils for a long time.
I say on the downlow then org asks Nico what he thinks about the trade. But watching Hall recently, he still has it. Not sure how much he would buy into Keefes system or shake up their progress, though. Maybe he just fits right in, but who knows? Nico knows.

Putting Noesen with Peanut Butter and Jelly and putting Hall with Nico and Timo is another one of these that look great on paper. The possibilities are truly endless. @runninwiththedevils I think it actually does more for out bottom 6 than the awesome looking top 6. Palat has no business on the 1st line, imo. Tatar has been doing nothing all year, so essentially, we'd be swapping out Tatar for Hall, and rounding out our bottom 6 with better line combos with players who SHOULD be there. Sliding Palat and Cotter down, I think, really makes a positive impact on those lines.

If the cost starts with a 2nd, and maybe a 4th to eat half his salary, then you can send those along with tatar. Essentially upgrading tatar and turning him into hall. That is a clear upgrade! Even if he plays on the 4th line, he is just a straight improvement at a very digestable cost. Plus w half retained AND moving out tatar, we would still have cap and assets to make another move.

Lou used to always bring in veterans who were hungry to win their first cup and when we were going good it always seemed like one of them would get some timely goal, it's no secret that Hall wants to win a cup. I guess the question is are there going to be better options available than him.
@ES-zw8cb Lou had the knack for these types of deadline moves for sure. Neal Broten in 95, Alexander Mogilny in 2000, Grant Marshall in 2003 (although he already won a Cup with Dallas).... If there's a deal that can be made that works in NJ's favor, I'm sure Fitz can get it done if they actually try to go after Hall. My primary concern is whether or not Hall can stay healthy. He has had ONE full season since '17-'18 and every other year has been littered with injuries, including this season. That alone should make his price tag be incredibly cheap because it's a pretty high risk to take on a guy who could easily end up on IR pretty quickly. Yes, anyone can get hurt... but with Hall's record of injuries, it makes me VERY wary of taking that risk.

I don’t think I’d hate it, but the retention is what’s going to kill the deal. Trent Frederic is someone Fitz targets. Fitz doesn’t like rentals. So if he can get Frederic and Hall it’s a win but have a hard time seeing the money work. Honestly I think we need a dman as well. I worry about injuries on the backend. Already seeing Kova play dip a little. I think Fitz does it soon to be honest. He pulled the Timo trade off in Feb.

That's not the case anymore. Would they move him before a playoff run?!? I can assure you we will not be trading for a defenseman. Our defense has been fairly solid overall. If there were to be any need for a d-man due to injury, Hatakka, Nemec or Casey would be the next guy up. Boston is going to be out of a playoff spot and Frederic demanding to much. The guys on chiclets, who have a pulse for that org, said Boston doesn’t want to pay him. Lots of people talking about him being on the move. Fitz loves that organization. Wouldn’t be surprised if we hear NJ part of rumors.

Im going to have to say…no. While he might be better than some of the Devils worst players, that’s not saying much for Hall, lol, that’s being a little harsh. Yeah, it would be cool to see what he could do with Jack and Bratt, but, it’s 50/50. Devils don’t need to be taking risk or wasting time with twilight forwards. It’s just not a reunion I want to see. I say absolutely. The stats you presented give a strong persuasive agreement. He could contribute significantly to the team due to its makeup. He'd be a strong addition and would contribute to the scoring. He needs a good team around him to flourish. Plus I could wear my Hall Devils tshirt again!

Fitzy needs to wake the f*** up and bring some finishing to this team. This loss to the leafs was embarrassing. Even if Luke scored in OT, the leafs had us pinned way too much. Sad performance and this team right now doesn’t know how to win.
I’m not giving up on this team but it’s been really hard to watch and see that nothing is changing. Only thing I was happy about tonight was our shoot first mentality.

I saw his interview on Spittin Chicklets (post-Winter Classic) and he seems like he's matured a lot. Has a wife and kid now and enjoys not being front and center anymore . He even said he likes mentoring other players like Bedard, though i bet he still has fire in the belly to win a Cup. Hall had good things to say about Jack on that episode and i think he'd be stoked to play with Jack and Nico (again). We have nothing to lose by signing him and who knows, maybe he plays another 3-4 years on the cheap? Our bottom six has been stagnant outside of Cotter so it's a no brainer imo.

Better consider them even it'll take a higher pick to get someone. Priority is to get a good 3rd line Centre and another heavy bottom 3 player who is able to put pucks into the net. And after the last two mentioned spots are sorted and there's enough money left go get someone like Palmieri, tough player with the scoring touch, who can deflect pucks, good around the crease, can score dirty goals. He is 5 years old, went through several other NHL cities, has a family, etc. These are all things that normally cause people to grow/change over time. The more time goes on the more I see the value in Palat. He is a good corner guy which means puck possession, and when he does face offs he is good as well. When you add those things up, the Devils have the puck. He is also defensively responsible, and can occasionally score.

Don’t forget his MVP speech and how he credited his success to playing with Nico. They already have chemistry together and help each other’s style of play. As we build for playoffs and round out roster, I think the approach is to have all 4 lines as kind of a hybrid that can all log significant minutes combining skill l, defense and physicality, creating matchup nightmares. We have a very unique and tough skillset to match when utilized correctly, especially by adding a skilled winger and one more physical and skilled centre man. Fun projected roster to picture with reasoning behind it…

As a win now move, Taylor Hall would be a welcome addition to add depth to the roster. The biggest thing going for Hall is he knows the clock is ticking. If he was on a team that could make a run, I do think he would be motivated to give it his all as it could be his last shot at a deep run. Perhaps being looked at as a bit of a mentor in Chicago has matured him as well.

We've seen it a million times when aging players return to a place of past glory. He's not the player we need.

No brainer for me. In Hall's last NJD stint, he was expected to be a leader, something I do not think he had any interest in being, and that is OK. He had a legendary year, followed by injuries and bad teams. He could come in, immediately help on the ice. I do think he is a good guy off the ice, he just couldn't be the face of the team and didn't want to be. If the locker room likes him, do it. I am sure his partying days are over too... He is married and has a kid now.
Will Butcher was great that year, his rookie year. I thought he was going to be a Devils for a long time.

@runninwiththedevils I think it actually does more for out bottom 6 than the awesome looking top 6. Palat has no business on the 1st line, imo. Tatar has been doing nothing all year, so essentially, we'd be swapping out Tatar for Hall, and rounding out our bottom 6 with better line combos with players who SHOULD be there. Sliding Palat and Cotter down, I think, really makes a positive impact on those lines.

If the cost starts with a 2nd, and maybe a 4th to eat half his salary, then you can send those along with tatar. Essentially upgrading tatar and turning him into hall. That is a clear upgrade! Even if he plays on the 4th line, he is just a straight improvement at a very digestable cost. Plus w half retained AND moving out tatar, we would still have cap and assets to make another move.

Lou used to always bring in veterans who were hungry to win their first cup and when we were going good it always seemed like one of them would get some timely goal, it's no secret that Hall wants to win a cup. I guess the question is are there going to be better options available than him.

If there's a deal that can be made that works in NJ's favor, I'm sure Fitz can get it done if they actually try to go after Hall. My primary concern is whether or not Hall can stay healthy. He has had ONE full season since '17-'18 and every other year has been littered with injuries, including this season. That alone should make his price tag be incredibly cheap because it's a pretty high risk to take on a guy who could easily end up on IR pretty quickly. Yes, anyone can get hurt... but with Hall's record of injuries, it makes me VERY wary of taking that risk.

A healthy Hall would 100% be a good addition to the team. I think that 2nd move could be a Utica guy making the step up but Fitz has done pretty well pulling off some damn slick moves lately so who knows what he may have up his sleeve.

I don’t think I’d hate it, but the retention is what’s going to kill the deal. Trent Frederic is someone Fitz targets. Fitz doesn’t like rentals. So if he can get Frederic and Hall it’s a win but have a hard time seeing the money work. Honestly I think we need a dman as well. I worry about injuries on the backend. Already seeing Kova play dip a little.

If there were to be any need for a d-man due to injury, Hatakka, Nemec or Casey would be the next guy up. I saw his interview on Spittin Chicklets (post-Winter Classic) and he seems like he's matured a lot. Has a wife and kid now and enjoys not being front and center anymore . He even said he likes mentoring other players like Bedard, though i bet he still has fire in the belly to win a Cup. Hall had good things to say about Jack on that episode and i think he'd be stoked to play with Jack and Nico (again). We have nothing to lose by signing him and who knows, maybe he plays another 3-4 years on the cheap?

Better consider them even it'll take a higher pick to get someone. Priority is to get a good 3rd line Centre and another heavy bottom 3 player who is able to put pucks into the net. And after the last two mentioned spots are sorted and there's enough money left go get someone like Palmieri, tough player with the scoring touch, who can deflect pucks, good around the crease, can score dirty goals. He is not even considered a great player, anyone who truly thinks that hasnt watched him play at all or doesn't understand hockey, sorry but if you add a Taylor Hall to a bruins team that when he joined shoulda won multiple cups but it's cause guys like Hall that they didn't
@MSGVault15 and another question, if jack Hughes doesn't win an MVP but plays at this pace and gets better, your gonna tell me cause Hall had 1 good season where he didn't EVEN WIN THE REAL NHL MVP AWARD,that his career was or is better? Or even Nico? You think even with his dumb ass 2nd place mvp award he's had a better or is a better 90ft player then the captain NICO? Nico has the offense and is in contention for the Selke trophy(awarded to the best defensive forward) every season.
@dannyf3448 I am not basing everything solely off of an interview. However, his entire demeanor seems different. A lot has happened since he was last in New Jersey. He is 5 years old, went through several other NHL cities, has a family, etc. These are all things that normally cause people to grow/change over time. I said in the video there were some stipulations I would have associated with bringing him in. LET'S GO DEVILS!!!
@dannyf3448 How did he not "win the real NHL MVP Award"?!? What does that mean exactly? He won the Hart Memorial Trophy as MVP of the NHL. I am not saying he is the best player of all time. But he had an insanely good year with the Devils and at this juncture of his career, I think he could help us on a playoff run. LET'S GO DEVILS!!!

@runninwiththedevils yeah just don't trust him, he chose to go to teams like Buffalo and Arizona. He played his way OUT of EDMONTON and if he played it right, he'd have been on a team with Connor and Drisietel and maybe got his cup. This is a guy who is literally scrambling and saying anything to get off the Chicago bedards. Much rather O'Reilly,cheaper. Better head on shoulders, true veteran experience and has a cup
@dannyf3448 I mean he left Edmonton so long ago, you never know what would have played out between now and then. With that being said, he is a UFA come July so Chicago is going to cash him in regardless. I would love O'Reilly, however I expect the price on him to be muchhhhhhhh higher than it would be for Hall. O'Reilly still has 2 years left on his deal after this season. I would love to see Fitz pull it off somehow, but I think it may be a pipedream. I hope I am wrong. LET'S GO DEVILS!!!
