The Blackhawks from 2009-2017 were the reason why I fell in love with hockey as a kid and were probably the greatest times of my life as a Chicago sports fan. And while I doubt we’ll be able to recreate what we accomplished back then with Bedard. I have a lot of hope for the future of this team
Great Video. Chicago! Chicago! It was great winning at TD Garden, rather than us having to go back to Chicago for A Game 7.
@@HecticHockey Even though I like The Rangers a bit more, also, now, I'm still A Huge Chicago Blackhawks Fan (I'd even say that there's more of A Tie).
Didn’t talk about the transition from 2010-2013. The 2010 team hit a massive cap wall and had to get rid of so many players. The fact that they were able to put together an even better roster around the stars they kept and win again just a few years later is one of the greatest sports front office moves in history.
Thanks, Max for bringing that up. While I'm a Hawks fan (form Makita-Hull era), Modano is the better all-around pUSA-born player over Kane. He had 29 SHG. Says a lot about his abilities other than goals & assists.
As a Flyers fan I hated them in 2010 but there’s something about watching the young guns dominate early in their careers that makes it hard not to like.
If you haven't made one yet I'd love to see a video made by hectic about Ovechkins or The caps' playoff struggles throughout the Ovechkin-Era, all the way to the run that would go on to become the clubs first cup win🙏🏼🙏🏼👍🏼
I remember watching the Toews and Kane era of the 2010s when I was young at that time. It also got me into watching sports, Toews and Kane were my first two favorite sports athletes that I liked, and will always be my favorite Blackhawks players of all time. Man it was so fun to watch them play and bring three Stanley Cups to the Windy City in the 2010s during my childhood. It was so amazing! We had a great run! Also, bowman should’ve never traded Artemi Panarin to the Blue Jackets for Brandon Saad back in the summer of 2017, that’s when the dominos started to fall, they went on a downward spiral following that. If Bowman didn’t trade Panarin, we would’ve been a playoff team for at least 3-4 years and added 1 or 2 more cups to the 2010s dynasty. Hopefully the Bedard era will be like the Toews and Kane era. Go Hawks! ❤️🖤
My Grandpa and I used to watch the Hawks all the time together. The last time we ever did was when we lost to the Kings in the Western final in 2014. I was really bummed because he had cancer and I really wanted us to win the cup that year so he could see it. We ended up winning it the next year, but it was a little bitter sweet for me, personally.
do a video on the kings from 2011-2014 or the lightning from 2015-2022. People debate on how many they have to win to be considered one but the reality is there is no specific number that dictates it, what dictates it is sustained dominance and multiple championships within short time spans which is what these 2 teams had in these respective timespans and what the bolts did from 2015-2022 for example with 2 cup titles, 4 cup finals and coming a win short from the finals again in 2016 and 2018 and also winning a presidents trophy in 2019. And the Kings 2 cup titles and 3 straight conference finals is worth mentioning as well.
I was in 10th grade win they won their first. I remember no one in school cared but me and my friends (NWI) by 2012 my senior year EVERYONE had hawks gear lol
@@thylacine519 Fair point but it took Chicago 5 years to win three times. How long can we push the window to win three times for it to be a dynasty? I'm not sure there's a specific cutoff, but '95 to '03 is certainly longer, I'll give you that.
2010 OT cup winning goal. 2014 ot winner in conference finals against Kings, and 2015 SCF goal against TB. Patrick Kanes 3 most iconic goals. And great cellts on top of it to follow! 😎
I recognize that Gretzky and his team had his dynasty but these guys are precision tuned athletes; health, fitness, and hockey have been their whole lives. Gretzky has said it himself he could never compete with these guys, so to continue to say his team was the greatest is a complete diminution of the last 2 decades of hockey.
Not mentioning Hossa and the other 2 really good defenseman they had in Hjarlmasson and Seabrook is a disservice to those guys and all those GREAT trades they made at different points in their cup run. Trading for Sharp, Versteeg, and Ladd. Drafting Saad and Shaw. Then some of those midseason trades for like Oduya, Handzus, Frolik, and Vermette who all had huge moments. They played the 2015 playoffs with pretty much 4 defenseman, a 5th who played sparingly and a 6th who barely saw the ice.
I wouldn't call Edmonton a big market team... They struggled financially a lot and is exactly why they traded Wayne Gretzky for Cash as well as players
Loved this team, very rarely does a team do something like this. The 2013 team was the best of the bunch. If not for LA, they likely would have threepeated
Been watching and following hockey for over 20 years, and gotta say no team could control and dominate a game like the prime time Hawks. They’d put on a puck possession clinic. Also Kane favorite player, and funnest to watch. I know now u got McKinnon and McDavid, super fast, but NOBODY could manipulate a defense, do so lot with so little, either slowing down, stopping up, changing angles, delaying, like Kane could. He slowed the game down to the pace he wanted it
With the hard cap, if you can maintain a good team for 6+ years and win a cup or two, that is pretty much a modern NHL dynasty, it's just to difficult to hold on to pieces, once rookie contracts are up, you have to start moving key pieces to pay the young stars you drafted
a Cup or 2 does not make a dynasty. even 3 doesn't unless it's in a span of time at least around what the Hawks did. the Hawks btw were good from 09-17, 9 seasons. WCF appearance in 09, were the 1 seed in the West in 17.
When I think dynasties I think of the Canadiens, Islanders, Oilers. Hawks had a good run but I don’t think it should be called a dynasty. Heck if the Kings would have won in 2016 would you call them a dynasty?
@@Yambag that’s your definition of a dynasty. Teams have to win consecutive titles to be considered a dynasty. Don’t get me wrong when you talk the top teams ever in the NHL the Hawks are in the conversation but can’t define them as a dynasty.
Patrick Kane is one of the best clutch players in history. He kind of embodies those Blackhawks, they aren't among the best teams of all-time but they played their best when it mattered.
You're wrong about winning the cup 3 times in six years. Yes, they won three cups over SEASONS, but that was in a span of five years and one week, which isn't the same thing.
The Blackhawks dynasty has been severely marred by Patrick Kane's betrayal. Everything he has ever done in a Hawks uniform is meaningless now. His impact on the three Stanley Cups that the team won means nothing. He was such an important part of the dynasty era, and yet his legacy is utterly ruined.
I hate the salary cap, I get why they exist because of baseball and the Yankees. However the first issue is small market team owners are still billionaires crying about money. I get not allowing a team to outspend everyone in free agency but what about talent developed through the draft. The cap screwed the hawks before the dynasty started. Imagine no cap and they kept Dustin Byflugien the whole time and had kept nearly that whole roster. Look at the 2010 team believe it or not that roster was nearly all drafted by the hawks. Sure the flyers squandered having Sharp which was our gain and Hossa came here and proved he is a hall of famer after playing in three straight cup finals for 3 teams. There should be no cap on retaining players you draft it should be whatever you are willing to spend. Basically otherwise don’t call it parity you make big market teams develop for the rest of the league.
We're throwing around the word Dynasty now I guess. Can't wait for people to talk about the Red Wings and Penguins dynasty because the core was there during the same time. There is a reason we don't call them Dynasty's anymore because they aren't the same.
This was just a recap of the Kane and Toews and there Cup runs. Those two were not the main reason why we won cups. We had other players that were a huge part of are dynasty. You really have to have had Hosea. If he didn’t score in game 5 in the 2010 playoffs against the Nashville predators. We probably would’ve been eliminated in Nashville for game 6. Patrick sharp was a part of it too. Even Brent Seabrook made his huge impact in game 7 vs the Detroit Red Wings in the 2013 playoffs. I do think that the video is a good review on there time with the hawks, but I don’t think you really don’t know how great this dynasty really is if it’s just two superstars and a top defenseman. The hawks weren’t great bye drafting superstars, they were great because the whole team believed that they could do something great.
This is such a casual assessment, clearly this guy didn’t actually witness most of the hawks’ golden era and only did minimal research. How did you skip over the dozen+ guys they drafted before toews and Kane who ended up on the 2010 team? How do you skip over the Hossa and Campbell signings that pushed them over the edge? Or the Sharp trade? Or the Barker trade that brought in Leddy? Or the massive dismantling of the team after 2010? He just skips over everything
also, the Marian Hossa comments are nuts. his playoff impact has become extremely overrated since retiring bc his leaving happened to coincide w the Hawks collapsing as a team. but they collapsed as a team for several reasons - Crawford got injured, Hjalmarsson out, Keith and Seabrook aging out, Sharp gone, Quenneville gone, Toews losing effectiveness, Panarin gone. Hossa wasn't even on the team for the first year of the dynasty, he joined in 10 to cup chase on a young team that had been great the year before and made the WCF. he barely scored any goals in the playoff runs, he became complementary.
You should give more props to Hossa. He was so impactful throughout those years. The seabrook and Keith combo was also on the level of toews/makar today
Agreed. Hossa brought so damn much to this team. One of the best two-way wingers of all-time.

This was a fun video. I loved reliving the three cups. The 2 goals in 17 seconds in 2013 has got to be my favorite moment due to the confusion around Kane's winner in 2010.
Never stop making videos man. They’re genuinely so good!
Thank you!
As a Chicagoan, I miss those days
And at the same time, the Cubs won the World Series! That was a great time to be a Chicago fan.
I was 17-22 years old for their run.. went to every parade in Chicago.. man what a time
i miss this team. good times. i wish i was a little older in 2010 so i would remember it more.
Those Minnesota Wild teams in 2014 and 2015 were very good but ran into the Blackhawks in peak form.
Great Video. When The Miracle happened, 2 goals in only 17 seconds, I texted my buddy in Florida, who, as A Kid, was A Huge Terry O'Reilly Fan, while I was A Huge Tony O Esposito Fan (as our Jerseys showed, in playing Street Hockey in The Late 70s), Chicago! Chicago! Chicago! It was great winning at TD Garden, rather than us having to go back to Chicago for A Game 7.
Love stories like this
@@HecticHockey Thank You. He's, unfortunately, going through a lot with A Skin Thing. Thanks for the kind words & comment. Keep up the great work
@@HecticHockey Even though I like The Rangers a bit more, also, now, I'm still A Huge Chicago Blackhawks Fan (I'd even say that there's more of A Tie).
Didn’t talk about the transition from 2010-2013. The 2010 team hit a massive cap wall and had to get rid of so many players. The fact that they were able to put together an even better roster around the stars they kept and win again just a few years later is one of the greatest sports front office moves in history.
Game five against Nashville. Patrick Kane’s only shorthanded goal of his entire CAREER.
Wow that’s insane
@@HecticHockeyI Miss Jonathan Toews And Patrick Kane As Legends Who Won 3 Stanley Cups For The Blackhawks ❤️🖤 2010 2013 And 2015
Thanks, Max for bringing that up. While I'm a Hawks fan (form Makita-Hull era), Modano is the better all-around pUSA-born player over Kane. He had 29 SHG. Says a lot about his abilities other than goals & assists.
I love the Blackhawks when they won the Stanley Cup since 2010-2013-2015 this video awesome
Can’t forget what happened to Kyle Beach during the 2010 run
Kinda wish you touched on game 7 of the 2015 western conference finals just a bit more. That was absolute domination by Chicago.
As a Flyers fan I hated them in 2010 but there’s something about watching the young guns dominate early in their careers that makes it hard not to like.
Growing up with the blackhawks as hometown team was so inspirational seeing two kids just fucking ball was so cool
Oilers were never a big market team, they just drafted well early on along with Gretzky being sold to them.
I was more going at the fact that their owner at the time was worth well over a billion dollars meaning that they could attract better players
@@HecticHockeythey literally sold the greatest player of all time. They weren’t and still are not a big market team
If you haven't made one yet I'd love to see a video made by hectic about Ovechkins or The caps' playoff struggles throughout the Ovechkin-Era, all the way to the run that would go on to become the clubs first cup win🙏🏼🙏🏼👍🏼
Those were good teams, they beat my Bruins in 6 games back in '13.
lets go hawks man i miss the 2010s hawks
Go Hawks! ❤️🖤
Hawks my fav team this video proves they’ve been the most successful team in the salary cap era so far
13:19 that’s me holding the cup! claim to fame
Ha no way, that's awesome
Its pretty sad how far they’ve fell after their dynasty. This was certainly the teams prime and they might not ever get better than they were.
Good times man. Good times.
The Blackhawks were a juggernaut
I Remember The Blackhawks ❤️🖤 Dynasty Like It Was Yesterday
You forgot to mention the New Jersey Devils won three times in a short span from the late 90s to early 2000s and can be considered a dynasty as well
You mean their dynasty from 2013-2024 ☠️
Not truly. Far bigger gap between cup appearances and victories. Truer if considering 2000-03, where they made the final 3 of 4 years
@@thylacine519 Fair point but it took Chicago 5 years to win three times. How long can we push the window to win three times for it to be a dynasty? I'm not sure there's a specific cutoff, but '95 to '03 is certainly longer, I'll give you that.
@@humblelad
> 0.5 cups/year over your span of dominance
theres an alternate universe where this video is about patrick kane and the flyers dynasty.
2010 OT cup winning goal. 2014 ot winner in conference finals against Kings, and 2015 SCF goal against TB. Patrick Kanes 3 most iconic goals. And great cellts on top of it to follow! 😎
I watched every game during the dynasty run and was at game 2 of the 2010 Stanley cup final. It was an hour to watch them
Blackhawks OWNED the 2010s
I recognize that Gretzky and his team had his dynasty but these guys are precision tuned athletes; health, fitness, and hockey have been their whole lives. Gretzky has said it himself he could never compete with these guys, so to continue to say his team was the greatest is a complete diminution of the last 2 decades of hockey.
09 was a great team too.
You forgot that the maple leafs of Toronto had dynasty’s also
Not mentioning Hossa and the other 2 really good defenseman they had in Hjarlmasson and Seabrook is a disservice to those guys and all those GREAT trades they made at different points in their cup run.
You did a fabulous job with this. 👌💯
He slowed the game down to the pace he wanted it
Go Hawks. Don’t forget about us we’ll be back
Since it got mentioned, as a preds fan I’d love to see you make a video about the 2017 preds run
That could be good
Sharks 2016 run as well? They're similar so i just thought of that
Patience Blackhawk fans...the future is starting to look pretty good!
Dale Tallon as GM never got the credit he deserved for putting this team together. Denis Savard kinda got screwed too but Coach Q was top notch.
Felt like once they got a second win in the series it was there’s to lose every single time
I dont understand how you only have 20K subs. Your videos are really well made
I appreciate that!
Yeah an old school dynasty is three consecutive while a modern one is maybe 3 in 5
When I think dynasties I think of the Canadiens, Islanders, Oilers. Hawks had a good run but I don’t think it should be called a dynasty. Heck if the Kings would have won in 2016 would you call them a dynasty?
@@Tony-r7v i just stated the criteria for a modern dynasty. I think you're smart enough to do the math and answer your own question
@@Yambag that’s your definition of a dynasty. Teams have to win consecutive titles to be considered a dynasty. Don’t get me wrong when you talk the top teams ever in the NHL the Hawks are in the conversation but can’t define them as a dynasty.
@@Tony-r7v if it comes down to opinion and most people consider them a dynasty, then for all intents and purposes you are wrong.
philly was just silent in disbelief lol

It is.
Patrick Kane is one of the best clutch players in history. He kind of embodies those Blackhawks, they aren't among the best teams of all-time but they played their best when it mattered.
Your RUclips Channel Is The Greatest
You're wrong about winning the cup 3 times in six years. Yes, they won three cups over SEASONS, but that was in a span of five years and one week, which isn't the same thing.
You wouldn’t consider the 2000-2010’s penguins a dynasty? 4 cup final appearances, 3 wins, longest NA playoff appearance streak. Kinda crazy
3 Cups in 9 years w a 6 year break during which another team has a dynasty?
They were basically one goal away from a 3-peat and 4 cups
Edmonton big market. Nice
The leagues a better place with the Blackhawks winning
A dynasy is 3 championships by the same team with roughly the same core or at least some of the same players in a reasonable span of time.
Simply put. The blackhawks Dynasty saved Hockey. Your welcome.
McDavid wishes he could be as electric as playoff Dave Bolland
1:18 The Oilers are a big market team? I thought they won because they had Gretzky and Messier until they could no longer afford them.
We're throwing around the word Dynasty now I guess. Can't wait for people to talk about the Red Wings and Penguins dynasty because the core was there during the same time. There is a reason we don't call them Dynasty's anymore because they aren't the same.
This era created so many bandwagon fans in my area lol. People who never watched hockey before and haven’t watched it since this dynasty ended
You forgot to mention that they all knew about Kyle Beech
what did they know about him? you don't even know how to spell his name, I doubt you are very well-informed on the incident.
14:10 You forgot the hit that took out Marian Hossa.
I bet Crawford is still hung over after that second Cup celebration party!!
chicago, the penn state of the nhl
This is such a casual assessment, clearly this guy didn’t actually witness most of the hawks’ golden era and only did minimal research. How did you skip over the dozen+ guys they drafted before toews and Kane who ended up on the 2010 team? How do you skip over the Hossa and Campbell signings that pushed them over the edge? Or the Sharp trade? Or the Barker trade that brought in Leddy? Or the massive dismantling of the team after 2010? He just skips over everything
Hossa, Seabrook, Sharp
Can you maybe explain how they got any of their pieces besides towels and Kane ?
also, the Marian Hossa comments are nuts. his playoff impact has become extremely overrated since retiring bc his leaving happened to coincide w the Hawks collapsing as a team. but they collapsed as a team for several reasons - Crawford got injured, Hjalmarsson out, Keith and Seabrook aging out, Sharp gone, Quenneville gone, Toews losing effectiveness, Panarin gone. Hossa wasn't even on the team for the first year of the dynasty, he joined in 10 to cup chase on a young team that had been great the year before and made the WCF. he barely scored any goals in the playoff runs, he became complementary.
I will never recognize the Blackhawks dynasty after what they did to Kyle Beech.
It was when Hossa retired that’s when the hawks really went downhill
coincidence more than anything. his role in the dynasty has become overrated
Ohh absolutely hate Chicago as a city and hawks as a team, but good to learn some hockey history
Hawks win at least 6 cups if salary cap doesn’t change.
