Can’t wait to watch this. You put out better Devils content than the team itself!! Only a matter of time before they’re begging you to come cover team events.
Great interview Ace! One of my favorite Jamie memories is him suiting up as captain for Team USA in the 2010’ Olympics, having a goal and 3 assists in 6 games including Zach Parise’s game tying goal with moments left in the final game!!!
@Hockeyspringgolfguy Thanks! Man, that 2010 Gold Medal game loss really stings. We were SO close. Especially after coming back in dramatic fashion on a Parise goal. It would be been amazing if they pulled it off. LET'S GO DEVILS!!!
This interview was absolutely EPIC! I found myself smiling at the screen multiple times throughout. You are an exceptional interviewer. Your questions were well thought out, you asked timely and sharp follow-up questions, and most importantly, you didn’t talk over Jamie (a mistake many interviewers tend to make…even the pros). This was a natural back-and-forth conversation, it seemed like two old friends talking. Kudos to you for an incredible video. One of my favorite things about this interview was seeing how much his time with the Devils meant to Jamie. During the end of his Devils tenure, Jamie seemed pretty unhappy at times (and who can blame him…the 2010-11 Devils team he was tasked with captaining SUCKED). Anyway, his (seemingly) grumpy attitude during that season left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth because he was one of my favorite players during the early 2000s-era of Devils hockey (thanks in no small part to his 2003 heroics) so it kind of sucked to see him disillusioned and fed up with Devils hockey before he was shipped off to St. Louis. But, watching this interview was cathartic, and helped heal old wounds. He had a genuine smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye talking about Devils hockey - he seemed legitimately thrilled to reminisce with you, and it’s clear his time on the Devils was super special to him. I can now see Jamie in a fully positive light once more, haha. Can’t wait to see which Devils legend you land an interview with next!
@TJW37 Thanks! It was awesome for me to have the opportunity to do this. I still have a ways to go with interviewing, but I will get better in time. My goal is always to ask a question and stfu and let the player talk for as long as possible. I just want to extract the best possible stories from them. Jamie clearly cherishes his time with the Devils. I had so much more to get to after the 2003 Cup, but ran out of time. Hopefully I will get the chance to do a part 2 with him and get to some of those topics. LET'S GO DEVILS!!!
@mostlycrazyallthetime Thanks! What a trade for Lou. Without that deal (and the Friesen trade) I do not think the Devils win the Cup in 2003. LET'S GO DEVILS!!!
Fantastic interview and content as always, Ace. Jamie Langenbrunner is one of the legendary Captains in Devils history, even if it wasn't for very long.
@Batfleck666 Thanks! Some of the trades were definitely shocking at the time. But without trading for Langenbrunner/Nieuwendyk and the deal for Friesen...I don't think they win the 2003 Cup. LET'S GO DEVILS!!!
Tough choice. I really loved the 2010 Olympics. USA had such a gritty team and I have flashbacks of his goal vs Canada in group play. Simple deflection. But I just remember being so proud to be a Devils fan, as Jamie was the captain and on that goal it was him and Parise in front. Not to mention Niedemeyer and Marty for Canada. Best Olympics ever. Damn you Sidney Crosby! For the Devils, it has to be the insanely clutch game 7. That Senators team was unreal and that game was so close anything could have decided it. Jamie just always stepped up when needed. Key memory of my early Devils fandom.
@ITzCw4dE So many memories over the years. The 2010 Olympics was awesome. If only USA found a way to win that Gold Medal game. I have an epic photo of that goal signed by Lags and Parise. It is sweet. The 2003 ECF was a complete battle. They were a very good team. What a run by the Devils. LET'S GO DEVILS!!!

My favorite non-playoff Jamie Langenbrunner goal is probably the 2005-2006 season finale in MTL. Devils were down 3-0, but came back. Jamie's 4-3 go-ahead goal in the final minutes clinched the Atlantic on the final day, and sealed NJ's 11th W in a row (...and then they swept NYR Rd 1 for 15 straight W's -- amazing time to be a fan). @SofiaGoalie Thank you! Jamie is the man. The photos from after Game 7 in 2003 are some of my favorites. The Lou Rules are great. LET'S GO DEVILS!!!
Looking forward to it, Ace. You've done a great job with Gomer and Bobby previously. LGD
@jma.87 Thanks! This one was different for me because it was sit down and a nice length. Definitely an awesome experience. LET'S GO DEVILS!!!
Lets go ace
@mostlycrazyallthetime I'm goinnnnnnnnnn! LET'S GO DEVILS!!!
@jma.87 what an epic moment! That was on my list of topics to cover, but ran out of time. Hopefully in a Part 2. LET'S GO DEVILS!!!
huge!! how did this come together?
@colbymannion9581 Some luck, some persistence, some working contacts. I know you are a younger guy, do you know how much of a force this man was in 2003?!? LET'S GO DEVILS!!!
@ He is the MAN
@colbymannion9581 The man indeed. It was an incredible run and he was a massive part of it. LET'S GO DEVILS!!!
how did you contact him lol that had to be awesome talking to him i remember langs with zach and travis great line
@sj3084 A little bit of luck and timing was on my side to get this all to fruition. It was a blast sitting down with him and talking. Langenbrunner/Zajac/Parise is definitely one of my favorite lines in Devils history. ZZ POPS! What an era. It is a shame they could never get to the Finals and win a Cup as a group. LET'S GO DEVILS!!!
Devils need to end this losing streak and get a W in Seattle
@scottbasilone7567 Big one tonight. Must win. LET'S GO DEVILS!!!
Ace ? Was that Jersey already signed or is it now ?
@richardzimmer9394 no. It's a game worn one, and I prefer to keep them exactly as they were worn on the ice! LET'S GO DEVILS!!!
@ very nice !!
scared shitless for tomorrow game TBL has r number
@ryanonderdonk4575 Gotta come out with a monster response. LET'S GO DEVILS!!!
Was the interview recorded in a garage or some prison cell?
@sst6601 prison cell 😂
You’re horrible. There was a lot of reverb, but still sounded good.
@@TravelinDevil76 what?! GTFO, pal. I was jokingly referring to the brick wall. Ace gets it. You never do. You're pathetic
@@TravelinDevil76I was joking about the brick wall! Go F yourself. Hope this message isn't hidden by RUclips
@TravelinDevil76 There was a lot of challenged logistically. Where we were was not conducive to great sound. I will definitely get production better with time. Doing all of this is a pain in the ass for sure. I am an amateur but will continue to get better. LET'S GO DEVILS!!!
Still think Hughes girls arent a huge problem?
As i said to you SO MANY TIMES
they need to be benched
Turnover machines
I enjoyed the interview and your passion but i will be right about this team being soft and the Hughes girls NEVER bringing success to the team
They are uncoachable
