? Quick is older than Markstrom. Shesterkin's salary would prevent us signing probably two or three players that could improve our team. Also, Shesterkin is good but he still has zero Stanley Cups, so he's equal to Markstrom in that category.

Exactly. The team gave up 12 shots to Pittsburgh but there were three big saves on high-danger shots. He also made some big saves in the home game vs the Canes and the game vs the Rags at MSG, where they actually put a lot of shots on net. This is also why Vanecek was god-awful in 23-24, despite having a winning record. He let up critical goals at the worst possible times: the opposite of timely saves. And he got a lot of run support, as it were. There were at least two games he won 6-5.

@stanley62495 It has been amazing to have a legitimate #1 in there for the first time in forever. He has made some absolutely monster saves at crucial moments in preserving wins or keeping the boys in it when already down. LET'S GO DEVILS!!!

@jma.87 in 22/23 season when they both played over 50 games and that stat is fairly comparable Vanecek is at 26 place and Markstrom is at 77th🤷

@@jma.87 it just proves your are as good as your defence unless you're a prime Hasek. I mean there are always exceptions like Dostal this year. But saying Markstrom is a messiah sent by gods is rubbish. Vanecek has never been a solution going forward but saying Markstrom has been fantastic is pure insanity. Before the last 10-game stretch he had around 0.900sv% on a very good team. Rubbish sv% for anyone.

@Ryyder64 I wanted CH reallllll bad. I was jacked when the rumors first came out. But like you said, it all worked out. We would not have this beastly roster we have right now if we went that route. I agree, easily my favorite team since at least 2012. I think this group is better than the 2012 team. We will see if they can go on a magical run like those guys. LET'S GO DEVILS!!!
