I haven't logged into SC in about a year. It's cool how much it's been improved since then. If it ever gets passed alpha into a full launch it'll definitely be an industry changing space sim. I just hope the playerbase isn't as murder hungry as it is now during alpha testing lol
Pretty sure Sausage that you do lose your ship if you dont have hull insurance on it. LTI ( lifetime ) 12 , 6 and 3 months hull insurance just means that you wont have to purchase in game insurance for the length of time it came with when you bought it. After the time limit expires , unless you take out hull insurance , if your ship explodes then you lose it as you will not be able to file an insurance claim. They have said many times though that it will be cheap , and you will get many reminders that your insurance is either about to run out or has run out before you fly it. They ( unless its changed ) also said you will be able to buy extra insurance on top of the standard like for like hull insurance which will cover ship upgrades , meaning that yes the LTI people will never have to worry about ship hull insurance , but will still need to purchase ship upgrades insurance which covers upgraded weapons and engines etc. I think they will be offering optional cargo insurance too. Just something to keep in mind.
If you could lose a ship completely, they'd run out of players pretty soon. It's non-sensical in terms of game-design. It makes far more sense to raise insurance, each time you crash and increase the insurance cost if it happens again within a short time interval; so you can't go out and grief people and go right back at it when you get killed. At least this will get very expensive over a short time; pretty much how insurance for a car works today. I wonder if they will add an insurance office of kind, because you are certainly right that there will be different kind of insurances. I'm pretty sure you still have to pay for retrieval, as they won't deliver it freshly polished to an empty dock. This is where the high cost comes in (for larger ships) and where the smaller ships will have an advantage.
What Wilhell and Magiocrity said is accurate. All ships rewarded from a real-money pledge will always be able to be retrieved, even if insurance runs out completely, but at a significantly higher in-game cost. Think of it as a higher deductable. Of course the current Alpha build behaves as is shown here.

The other is the feeling they have to spend hundreds of dollars, which we know they don't. Now as far as the LTI, only time that would be useful is when you have a ton of ships. Since the time on the insurance equates to playing time, 6 months insurance could feasibly be LTI for that player. I do tend to go the LTI route but totally fine with 12+ months insurance. LOL

Your sincere excitement when you share your experience is really appreciated by me. Unfortunately, I can't seem to run Star Citizen at the moment. Not sure if it's due to hardware insufficiency (although the game still ran before 3.0, now not at all) or just the inefficiency of the alpha, but once I discovered your channel a few days ago it's done wonders to sate my desire to be a part of this game. I hope I run into people as cheerful and excited about the game whenever I'm able to get back into it. Also the videos with your wife are probably the most endearing and heartwarming things I've seen on RUclips. I could go on for longer but I don't want to be weird, just genuinely thankful for your content. Cheers!

I think the biggest performance factor in running the game well is having it installed on an SSD, I have friends with five year old systems and Gpu's as low as gtx 750ti's who are running the game well now. Or you may have just tried it at the memory leak phase. It's running a lot better now. Also min spec is 16gb ram now
I've tried in the current update to run the game around once a day, never to much avail. I've got a GTX 970M, an i7-6700hq processor @2.6GHz , and 16gb ram but it always crashes on launch. I've looked around a bit and nothing seems to solve the issue, sadly. I did get it to work somewhat a couple of weeks ago but even then it was absolutely slogging through the game and crashed often. It's very frustrating.

No problem. That's what I thought at first as well. Great game with reeaaaallly bad marketing xD. I have never learned anything about the game from the developers. But the players are very helpful thankfully.
Here a little expanded Q&A death in SC to go with this video: Q: Is here perdeath? (note: Death of a Spaceman) A: not right now, but yes there will be. However it should be noted that you can "die" (spaced, shot, exploded) many times before you character is gone for good Q: do I lose everything when I die? A: no, your next character will receive most of your possessions and money, however you do lose most of your reputation.

I think the single biggest performance factor is having the game installed on one ssd and the OS installed on a seperate ssd. I have friends with much higher spec than me except they have the game and OS on the same SSD and I see better performance than they do. my system specs I7 4790, 32 gb ddr3 ram, gtx 1080 (not overclocked) game and os on seperate ssd

Unpopular opinion. But the star citizen economics made sense when you made 340UEC per mission. When you’re getting 30,000UEC for a 10 minute mission it makes little sense realistically. It makes no sense why anyone wouldn’t be a space ship owner.
One can't loose anything they have actually paid cash or game credit. Any and all itmes purchased with aUEC's can, will and have been subject to being lost. There will be a minimum of two more wipes. One at beta and another when SC goes gold aka released as a fully funtional video game. Until then, CIG are attempting to avoid doing wipes. But shit happens and nothing purchase with aUEC's are basically insured agains any kind of loss.

What are the specs on your rig? I have a extremely good rig and SC still freezes/has terrible FPS at times, even with the settings just on medium. Wonder if there's something special you did to make it so smooth? Great Video by the way.
Hi, I have my settings on highest and I have I7 4790, 32gb ddr 3 ram, gtx 1080, I think the biggest performance factor is having the game installed on an ssd. My friend with a four year old system, gtx 750 ti, went from unplayable to around the same frames as me by installing the game on an ssd medium settings. Hope this helps. Most of the lag you'll be getting is probably server side though. It still runs rubbish for me some days. Somedays completely unplayable.
Good explanation man, still wondering about personal weapons and stuff tho. had a play on the free weekend pass, got a gun, got some cargo, game crashed. was able to reclaim ship (losing the cargo of course) but i lost the gun i bought too, and couldnt find a way to get it back, are all weapons lost when you die too ?
The way it works now (dunno if they plan to change, I'm still pretty new to the game) is if the weapon is on your back or in your inventory, you keep it. The only way to lose your weapon (except maybe glitches?) is if you have it out in your hands when you die. If you have it holstered or on your back, its still there when you wake up.
ah ok that makes sense, it sucks though, i think i had the weapon out and in my hands when it crashed. Still seems like its quite easy to lose stuff through no fault of your own though.
Same thing happened to me with my pistol :( I think in the testing phase we're gonna lose a lot of stuff which is why they reset the money after each patch
aahhh ok mate, i think ill still buy it, even if just the Aurora pack, the game is far enough along at this point that i can "have fun" in it at least. Will add you ingame if i ever get round to buying a package haha. cheers dude
Honestly, the game is still in alpha (all jokes aside), but i really feel LTI isn't going to be a big when game launches officially. I feel like the single player will give a ship with LTI for completing the singleplayer game whenever it goes live. but if LTI is worth it , id feel it is only for those ships that are $500+ real life money, but even those, i feel should come with LTI... not 6 months insurance, cuz that would suck for the person who buys it, logs in, takes a month break on and off, and never earned the credit to get the ship back if they lost it with the insurance... that would suck lol... of course its a case of a person with not much time to play video games, but that could be ANYONE by the time the game launches .... who knows where we will be in our lives the year that happens lol
Yea thanks for that. I was kinda wondering what would happen if I forked out 2 and a half k for a bangle or other capital ship. And it exploded right out of dry dock. I would not be happy. (No I don't have £2.5k to spend on a ship..... Yet)
Where are you ? If it's a massive ship you might not be able to spawn it on certain stations. There is also a claim bug around olisar at the moment. Ask for a lift to a different station like grim hex or levski and it will work fine. Hope you get it sorted, let me know how you get on.
So, i have seen there is 6 months insurance on some starter ships.... So, my question is... What if I play and that 6 months expire and my ship gets destroyed, stolen, etc....?
Insurance doesn't even come into play until the game is released which being honest is gonna be years yet. There's been different theories on insurance but we've been assured it's going to be very affordable. You won't lose your ship per say. You'll just have to save up in game until you can afford to re insure your ship before it's available again.
@@sp33dhunter36 I get ya. This is quite an old video. Now you can earn enough in game money to buy a whole new ship in a few hours of gameplay. Insurance will be cheap as chips and paid for by simply earning credits playing the game.

i bet when it release it will be the same as eve online..when you lose a ship you lose everything and you will get same money back if you pay for insurance..
Hi SausageFingers, loving your shows so far. However I do have to disagree with you in regards to insurance. The idea is that you need to insure your ship to be able to file a claim... when its fully released, I believe the plan is... if you have insurance, you can get said ship back. If you don't have insurance.. you lose it and you have to buy a new one so. This means that LTI (Life Time Insurance) and others (like 6 months, 4 months) etc, equates to people not having until pay out to insure that ship for ex-amount of time. However, if they have limited insurance, say 4 months... after 4 months, they will need to buy more (ingame) or risk losing the ship completely. This is where LTI is nice to have because, you dont ever have that worry However, those reading this... please understand that this game is in Alpha and it can all change before launch.
Exactly, the idea is that when you have no ships remaining and have no insurance the game generates missions for various scenarios based on your situation to aquire a new ship. Either use a beacon as an sos if you are stranded on a planet, then find work aboard someone elses ship whether NPC or player till you can buy a new ship. Unless you are a criminal then you can get creative as to the procurement of a so called used ship. Now I'm not sure if it's still planned but there were supposed to be Vanduul contested systems where no insurance level covers your ship fully. I think even LTI in that case have to pay a premium UEC cost to get their ship back

However, if they do go down a route like that, they will need to make sure the reward is good enough to be worth the risk.
Interstellar Handwavium Rescue takes you back to the nearest facility that can resuscitate and patch you up until your 9(?) lives are up. (see death of a spaceman doc) If your ship has a Med Bay and you're only mostly dead you could end up there.
this game i bought it in 2017 could not work out stupid keys biding they made it conplicated or even tried gamepad cant control my player what stuppid controll functions i gave up i tried to play it and learn but the controls are disapointing anyway after 2 years not playing i want back and install it i cannot find my ship this game is getting worse every time they add things it will never work or be completed i was hoping for the compaign single player to be completed i lost hope am playing now starbourne 2 made by one guy check it out controls are much better easy to control
Only on Tuesdays. 16gb ram recommended minimum. It's runs a bit dodgy even on the best pc as it hasn't really been optimised yet. I did a lot of my first vids with a GTX 760gpu and it ran fine on low settings. Quite processor heavy as well. Works fine on an i7 4790 on highest graphics and 32gb ddr 3 ram and GTX 1080 you.
Comparing 3.1 to 3.0 the game is much more playable assuming you have at least 8gb "free" ram. The difference is about 20 fps give or take from 3.0's 4fps for an under speced pc.
Can anyone actually play this?! I go to a mission and by that time it's crashed. Crashing crashing crashing. Lag lag lag . How are people playing and completing mission? Do you guys just prey it dosnt crash.
In 3.1.1 it was pretty stable but whatever they tried to do in 3.1.2 has caused a huge memory leak and constant crashes. It should be back to a more stable release when the next update arrives with a bit of luck
I was so hesitant, for YEARS, because I was worried I'd permanently lose my 45$ ship to some dingo in a zoomy-zoom boom boom after 5 minutes of play.

yeah, you can start with a basic starter package and earn credits ingame to buy any ship. No need to spend real money at all

Hi, I have my settings on highest and I have I7 4790, 32gb ddr 3 ram, gtx 1080, I think the biggest performance factor is having the game installed on an ssd. My friend with a four year old system, gtx 750 ti, went from unplayable to around the same frames as me by installing the game on an ssd medium settings. Hope this helps. Most of the lag you'll be getting is probably server side though. It still runs rubbish for me some days. Somedays completely unplayable.
Good explanation man, still wondering about personal weapons and stuff tho. had a play on the free weekend pass, got a gun, got some cargo, game crashed. was able to reclaim ship (losing the cargo of course) but i lost the gun i bought too, and couldnt find a way to get it back, are all weapons lost when you die too ?
The way it works now (dunno if they plan to change, I'm still pretty new to the game) is if the weapon is on your back or in your inventory, you keep it. The only way to lose your weapon (except maybe glitches?) is if you have it out in your hands when you die. If you have it holstered or on your back, its still there when you wake up.
ah ok that makes sense, it sucks though, i think i had the weapon out and in my hands when it crashed. Still seems like its quite easy to lose stuff through no fault of your own though.
Same thing happened to me with my pistol :( I think in the testing phase we're gonna lose a lot of stuff which is why they reset the money after each patch
aahhh ok mate, i think ill still buy it, even if just the Aurora pack, the game is far enough along at this point that i can "have fun" in it at least. Will add you ingame if i ever get round to buying a package haha. cheers dude

Honestly, the game is still in alpha (all jokes aside), but i really feel LTI isn't going to be a big when game launches officially. I feel like the single player will give a ship with LTI for completing the singleplayer game whenever it goes live. but if LTI is worth it , id feel it is only for those ships that are $500+ real life money, but even those, i feel should come with LTI... not 6 months insurance, cuz that would suck for the person who buys it, logs in, takes a month break on and off, and never earned the credit to get the ship back if they lost it with the insurance... that would suck lol... of course its a case of a person with not much time to play video games, but that could be ANYONE by the time the game launches .... who knows where we will be in our lives the year that happens lol

Yea thanks for that. I was kinda wondering what would happen if I forked out 2 and a half k for a bangle or other capital ship. And it exploded right out of dry dock. I would not be happy. (No I don't have £2.5k to spend on a ship..... Yet)

Where are you ? If it's a massive ship you might not be able to spawn it on certain stations. There is also a claim bug around olisar at the moment. Ask for a lift to a different station like grim hex or levski and it will work fine. Hope you get it sorted, let me know how you get on.

So, i have seen there is 6 months insurance on some starter ships.... So, my question is... What if I play and that 6 months expire and my ship gets destroyed, stolen, etc....?
Insurance doesn't even come into play until the game is released which being honest is gonna be years yet. There's been different theories on insurance but we've been assured it's going to be very affordable. You won't lose your ship per say. You'll just have to save up in game until you can afford to re insure your ship before it's available again.

@@sp33dhunter36 I get ya. This is quite an old video. Now you can earn enough in game money to buy a whole new ship in a few hours of gameplay. Insurance will be cheap as chips and paid for by simply earning credits playing the game.

If im ok with waiting to get my ship back, I never need to buy insurance? -- The only reason im not playing this game is because I think im going to have to have a monthly insurance fee or something. I want to pay the £45 it is for the starter pack and never have to put real money into it again... Can i do this if I want my ship back after it gets destroyed or stolen etc?
Exactly. You press claim and just wait for the clock to get your ship back for free.
But the game is in Alpha, when it's released it'll probably be different....
i bet when it release it will be the same as eve online..when you lose a ship you lose everything and you will get same money back if you pay for insurance..
If u file a claim for a undestroyed ship, will it still remove all upgrades?
Hi SausageFingers, loving your shows so far. However I do have to disagree with you in regards to insurance. The idea is that you need to insure your ship to be able to file a claim... when its fully released, I believe the plan is... if you have insurance, you can get said ship back. If you don't have insurance.. you lose it and you have to buy a new one so. This means that LTI (Life Time Insurance) and others (like 6 months, 4 months) etc, equates to people not having until pay out to insure that ship for ex-amount of time. However, if they have limited insurance, say 4 months... after 4 months, they will need to buy more (ingame) or risk losing the ship completely.
This is where LTI is nice to have because, you dont ever have that worry
However, those reading this... please understand that this game is in Alpha and it can all change before launch.
Exactly, the idea is that when you have no ships remaining and have no insurance the game generates missions for various scenarios based on your situation to aquire a new ship. Either use a beacon as an sos if you are stranded on a planet, then find work aboard someone elses ship whether NPC or player till you can buy a new ship. Unless you are a criminal then you can get creative as to the procurement of a so called used ship. Now I'm not sure if it's still planned but there were supposed to be Vanduul contested systems where no insurance level covers your ship fully. I think even LTI in that case have to pay a premium UEC cost to get their ship back

However, if they do go down a route like that, they will need to make sure the reward is good enough to be worth the risk.
When you die OUTSIDE a ship, shouldn't it put you back in the ship?
Interstellar Handwavium Rescue takes you back to the nearest facility that can resuscitate and patch you up until your 9(?) lives are up. (see death of a spaceman doc) If your ship has a Med Bay and you're only mostly dead you could end up there.

this game i bought it in 2017 could not work out stupid keys biding they made it conplicated or even tried gamepad
cant control my player what stuppid controll functions i gave up i tried to play it and learn but the controls are disapointing
anyway after 2 years not playing i want back and install it i cannot find my ship
this game is getting worse every time they add things
it will never work or be completed i was hoping for the compaign single player to be completed
i lost hope am playing now starbourne 2 made by one guy check it out controls are much better easy to control

Only on Tuesdays. 16gb ram recommended minimum. It's runs a bit dodgy even on the best pc as it hasn't really been optimised yet. I did a lot of my first vids with a GTX 760gpu and it ran fine on low settings. Quite processor heavy as well. Works fine on an i7 4790 on highest graphics and 32gb ddr 3 ram and GTX 1080 you.

How is the Frame rate after last update?
Comparing 3.1 to 3.0 the game is much more playable assuming you have at least 8gb "free" ram. The difference is about 20 fps give or take from 3.0's 4fps for an under speced pc.
40fps at 1440p usually in 3.1 for me on a GTX 1070.
i guess if you want play this game smoothly you need a new PC with at least 32gb ram

Can anyone actually play this?! I go to a mission and by that time it's crashed. Crashing crashing crashing. Lag lag lag . How are people playing and completing mission? Do you guys just prey it dosnt crash.
In 3.1.1 it was pretty stable but whatever they tried to do in 3.1.2 has caused a huge memory leak and constant crashes. It should be back to a more stable release when the next update arrives with a bit of luck
Oh I see. Do we really have to wait untill 3.2 in June or July for this to be sorted?
