The Plugin imports and creates the materials correctly this way. If you don't change this (which was addressed in previous auto-setup tutorials) you'll notice issues with your mesh instances creating MaterialInstanceDynamic Material which is data only. Hopefully this helps anyone with the same issue, it took me a few hours to debug and I was lucky I'd backed up my project before upgrading the autosetup plugin.

I know that in UE5 that option is no longer Beta, it impacts the quality of models so much, but it comes at a high cost resource wise.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Solution: I didn't install the plugin correctly. I tried to copy the contents to the engine's folder so that I could install this at will in a project. This doesn't allow for the shaders folder to be placed in the project though. This seems like a bug that could be fixed. It would be way more convenient if a user doesn't have to keep copying files around when they try to use this method. After that though, everything came in great. The HQ option was available, no errors while importing, and all of the materials were created properly. Thanks again!
On your previous UE4 tutorial for autosetup we had "Do not create material" but here those settings were left alone, is this the correct new way? Many thanks.

How about exporting from UE5 back to CC4. I want to export CC4 character to UE5 for changing the materials, then I would like to export it back to CC4 and iClone for crowd simulation.

I have no animation, UE Outpu log says: No smoothing group information was found in this FBX scene. Please make sure to enable the 'Export Smoothing Groups' option in the FBX Exporter plug-in before exporting the file. Even for tools that don't support smoothing groups, the FBX Exporter will generate appropriate smoothing data at export-time so that correct vertex normals can be inferred while importing. How to fix it?

With this auto update iClone and CC4 are light years ahead of the Daz Bridge. Sooo, I thought I would be smart and test to see if i could convert a daz character to CC3+ base and send through the Auto Updater. It was, ummm, painful, and I had very scary results. If anyone knows if it IS possible please let me know. Maybe I need to tick other boxes I wasn't aware of when exporting. Thought this might have been the answer to all my problems. POSTEDIT: Got this to work with Daz Characters, and all is working well.

This is nice but it would be even better if we saw how to take an entire scene in iClone 8 and move it to Unreal to render. So far all I've seen is moving assets as if you were building a game environment (which is fine but with the lagging of iClone's renderer doing it in some outside program seems the only feasible way for RL to compete nowadays).
@@armondtanz Some of us have TONS of content already we would rather not try and find/duplicate/pay for. I honestly have WAY more content than I will ever use in my lifetime and if I can't bring that into UnReal I am NOT going to use that engine. im having issues with the unreal live link and autosetup when i use live link and import to unreal 5.0.3 the charectors hair and eyes and brows are not perfect even though in the video it shows they are. weird.
For anyone having issues with hair that comes in too transparent. Just increase the Opacity Multiplier in the hair material(s) that Auto setup creates for your character in Unreal
Skeleton is the problem. The skeleton that these characters come with from CC4 is incompatible UE5 skeleton so there isn't much you can do with CC4 charaters inside UE5 unless you rig them with UE5 skeleton.

With your import setup unreal create basic material for my character and not with your shaders. Before for CC3 we need to change material search for don't search and material import for do not create material. If I do this my character doesn't have any material. I use the last version of unreal engine 5 and the last version of your plugin.
I used the auto setup for ue5.0.3. The result is bad. The hands of any meshes exported from cc4 to fbx are distorsed. It is better not to use the auto setup while importing to UE5
The animations are not being included!! I even tried exporting the animation directly from iClone and it just imports with a static UE5 pose.... no animation sequences... such an expensive bit of software that spends most of its time broken...
Yeah, but it doesn't work with control rig or the UE5 Skeleton. There is not even a pose that matches, not even the T-pose is the same. With regard to making a usable character, this is still stuck in the Unreal Engine 4 era :( Hope you don't need IK because you won't get it with this software unless you already know how to set it up from scratch

If you're going to import FBX files like motions, it will take time in Unreal, which is normal.

Yes, you can. It utilizes the Auto Setup feature when you are transferring something via iClone Live Link.

I finally figured it out. Change the anti aliasing method in project settings to TAA instead of FXAA.

Hope they fixed the transparency problem from iclone 7 to Unreal Engine. The hair was a constant problem that was never truly solved
