The flip side of the lazy quiet quitter are the people showing up and have to work twice as hard to get the job done. These people are burning out from over work.
Then they need to quiet quit.
@@genxx2724 This exists everywhere in the workplace unfortunately. People are lazy and want to make the easiest money. I blame gen x mentality. I actually blame leadership, they can change culture and allow equal work.
As a nurse--this is TRUE
They should go to a workplace that's managed by competent people, then.
If someone's not pulling their weight, they should be either corrected, or gone.
If someone's doing more than their part, they should be either rewarded, or leaving.
If neither of those things are happening, it's a bad company.
Quiet quitting is a crappy term. Not doing your part is better.
If you are doing your part you are not lazy.
I agree with Ken on this one, quit worrying about others and focus on your job. If this lady gets another job she will find out that there are slackers wherever you go.
That's not the point. Why the fuck should other workers get away with doing nothing whilst one person does everything?
@@jaywest3734 That is the point, worry about others and handle your own business.
@@jaywest3734 Every job has slackers, can't get away from it.
@@shawnlassiter5274yup. Price’s law.
All her lazy co-workers love your comment.👏
Welcome to every job ever. Too many people go to work with one goal, to do as little as possible.
Unless they get benefits why not?
@@donaldlyons17 really? Be a human. Did we not all learn in Kindergarten to treat people the way you would like to be treated? Your co-workers are people. Read your job description and do your job with integrity.
@@lizmaurer3830 Well it would be best to "treat people the way you would like to be treated" and "Read your job description and do your job with integrity." However that is an idea that only benefits the bosses and owners over time. The reality is that doing the minimum is better and looking busy while doing nothing all while being paid well is far better. The reality is that it is better to get paid a whole lot and do nothing in reality.
@@donaldlyons17 you're the problem. Your don't get it. You're the co-worker that no one likes. You've never received a promotion, but thats fine. I hope we never meet.
Only at places with bad management, the ones with supervisors who do their jobs get rid of people like that quickly.
Got news for you honey. It's that way everywhere. The grass is not greener someplace else.
Facts
It's depressing because ever if you do the bare minimum, they're doing less than the bare minimum.
Some coworkers are bent on doing less. Then they'll sit back, gossip, and are genuinely happy when others fail. What's worse is when there is no one to check them, they do whatever they want. The management has no backbone.
Slowly, you almost isolate yourself because you're trying to get things done. With no one helping or at least trying not to talk about people all day like everyone else.
It's almost better to see if you can find another position where you fit...or to start something on your own.
I absolutely agree with you with my experience when I used to work for Arby's all I see is everyone standing around with their cell phones and talking shit about the customers or talk about there daily life outside of work and I remember being treated like trash by the boss because I have mild disability after a while I had enough and quit the job
My experience exactly.
Can't won no matter what sad...
Lady stop worrying about other people. Do your job, clock out and go home.
Agreed the only problem tho she gets stuck cleaning up their messes when the customer calls.
@@profit822 Exactly it. I always thought Life would be 1000x easier if everyone just did their job correctly so someone else doesn't have to spend half their day cleaning up messes ( figuratively speaking ). I know my workweek would end before Wednesday lunch if everyone didn't make 'I don't care because someone else will fix it' errors.
She is a victim like everyone else. Cry baby. Why would she care about another person does.
Ignore the dumpster fire? lol
Depends, you stay in your lane until someone’s laziness impact you.
Never leave a job until you have another one

@@carojames6776 sure. But a wise person takes their time and finds something that is secured than just deciding out of the blue
This is also a generation thing too. I see it in my job all the time in nursing.
How do i punish my terrible employer if i dont Walk out in the heat of the moment?
You don't go to work to make friends you go to make money.
Sometimes you meet very good people along the way.
Wish more people would realize this. Would help productivity 10x
💯
@@Nick-gg6tg If I can make money why produce? I would rather go to work do almost no work and get paid ok.
Newsflash: Employers don't hire you to "make money" - they hire you to _do work._
Sad reality is the lazy worker will be promoted meanwhile the top performer stays as a worker bee.
I agree.
Total truth.
I’ve got a co-worker who misses multiple days, leaves early on the days she shows up, and complains about her aches and pains when she’s on the job. She’s slow-moving, her work results are sloppy. My union loves her. Sometimes people try to complain about her to me, but I cut it off. I have plans beyond this job.
Ken was on point here, she needs to stop worrying about cooworkers if it's not directly affecting her.
It is directly affecting her. She can’t do her job properly because of their mistakes.
Yep. It can be hard but try not to worry about others.
The idea that coworkers’ performance doesn’t affect everyone on the team is a little naive tbh
I have know those people that just cant ignore whats going on around them and have had that to a degree myself. She needs to not focus on them and get management to fix any issues that affect her directly. Put the blinders on.
@@genxx2724 it sounds like it's her job to fix their mistakes. She probably works in quality check
I’ve seen it happen too many times. Lazy workers job performance impacts other peoples workload. Mid level management is often well aware but can’t do anything bc upper management won’t fire them or the lazy worker is bffs with mid level management. The hard worker gets more work bc they’re dependable!
Yup. Why the fuck are people arguing against this woman's point?
Exactly.
Ya why should I work if I don't get paid extra
I hide lol
Yes you are so right
It's comical now in the workforce.....I got some of the laziest co workers on the planet.....I used to get mad because their laziness effected me because management worked the workers and let these people do nothing.....I talked to some of friends and they experienced the same thing at their jobs......it's normal so I no longer care....I go to work and do my best and go about my business
The workplace has seen a lot of changes since I started. I have worked for the same company for 10 years. Back when I started I had to work my tail end off just to keep my job. These days they all make fun of me for working too hard. This is just hard to take. Then they shove more work on me that others are too lazy to do. It just takes away my desire to excel. I do it because my dad taught me to work hard and be proud of my work. It's what really keeps me going.
Then you need to move out. Now days, it seems like the average amount of time to spend at an employer is like 4.2 years. Anything more than that and you look unattractive to other employers because you are "set in your ways" and "not adaptable".
In that case, you haven't gotten a useful raise either. Shop around to see what others are willing to pay for your skills.
I'm all for hard work, but I don't do someone else's job, since I won't get their pay.
Work smarter not harder.
Same. Mom never told me to do less than your best.
Besides being lazy like them is 500% harder. Imagine picking up that something the first time. Instead you move that something 200 times without picking it up.
I hear you. For me, it has to do with the department I'm in. I was trained in a deli where you have to be doing something nonstop, and now I work front end (cash + customer service). I do take more breathers in between tasks now, and I'm thankful the adults who are older than me do have good work ethic... but I wish the kids/younger adults (early 20s) were taught to work a little more... like yeah, talk and socialize, but also work more please? Anyway. It is what it is.
I work with lazy coworkers it's frustrating. I don't even know why they show up to work. Just stay at home they are just taking up space and getting paid for it
I am tired of working with perfectionist high-pressure no-lifers who live to work. I work to live. I do my job and I do it well, but nothing more.
That's ALL I would ever ask of you, DO THE JOB then ship out.
Thats a healthy relationship with work. Taking your work home or overworking yourself ends up hurting you in multiple areas. Mental health, physically, relationships - its important to have balance.
I think she is just talking about people that arent doing the job when they are AT work and its putting a burden on other people. They arent doing their job well from what she says.
My favorite is do nothing, dishonest bosses with no family/no life constantly calling outside work hours
When you're on the clock, the only thing you should do is work. It's not about not having a life, but being honest and ethical and do what yoy are paid for.
The grass is not always greener on the other side..... That said, she doesn't have a co-worker issue as much as she has a management issue.
Exactly.
I totally resembled this conversation. I finally made the decision to retire and I'm loving it. I do not miss working with slackers.
Congratulations! Your "good old days" are still _ahead_ of you. May you have many of them.
I think Dave forgets that "being somebody" for most companies doesnt get you anywhere anymore. Most 'quiet quitters' have dedicated their work and gone above and beyond for their employer just to have someone else who did less get promoted or get a bigger raise. There's no incentive to "go above and beyond your call of duty" when you get paid the same no matter what. Which is also why so many people have started the route of creating their own startups of some sort.
Edit: to those who disagree and say quiet quitters are lazy, you are seriously misdefining what a quiet quitter is. You can't "quiet quit" unless you've done more than your fair share to begin with. Quiet quitting is the idea of people who are already working more than they should, and slowly "going back" to doing "as they should". And sadly, that kind of drop off is enough to get people fired even if they are still meeting their requirements (which actually only ADDS MORE to how 'above and beyond' they've been). Quiet quitting is not "lazy people getting lazier." That's just called being lazy.
Nah. Quiet quitters never went above and beyond. They never had it in them to do that in the first place. They're entitled whiners.
The people who are "quiet quitters" are not the type of people who went above and beyond in the first place.
It has to do with personal values and morals. A hard worker does their best at all times not just for prizes 😉
Agree. Doing the bare minimum for your job is not lazy. Doing less than required is lazy.
If you’re in a company that doesn’t appreciate/ recognise when you go above and beyond - “quiet quitting” is the way to go.
@@gmarie3053 No. Actually quitting is the way to go. Quiet quitting is the coward's way to go.
She stepped down from a management position to be their coworker. Now that sounds like quiet quitting to me
No, quiet quitting would be staying in the management position and taking the increased salary, and doing the minimum necessary for eight hours a day. I had a boss who would disappear before lunchtime every day. Lunchtime was the only time newbies dealing with crises could get his guidance before returning to the trenches. He technically wasn’t doing anything wrong, but his job was to mentor, and he deliberately avoided it.
Management's job is to get everyone to do their job not be your counselor.
She couldn't handle the management position because of the responsibilities involved. Some people are not built for leadership positions, they're more comfortable being followers and there's nothing wrong with that.
I don't think you know what quiet quitting is.
She couldn't handle the stress. And it sounds like shes having an issue w it at the lower level as well.
Unless you are management it’s not your problem.
Most jobs have little actual value to them.
JUST SHOW UP AT WORK AND WORK WHILE YOU’RE AT WOOOORK! Lol 👏🏼
I know exactly how she feels. I work with a lot of coworkers who are LAZY. I like to do a good job and work hard and seeing coworkers who constantly slack off is nerve racking. She mentions her age being older as well. The older generation just has a better work ethic in my opinion. I used to work with an older lady and she was a super hard worker and could run circles around the younger coworkers. The laundromat I go to, about a decade ago, there was an elderly woman who used to work there and she busted her a** off. She was always sweeping and cleaning and had such a pleasant attitude. The younger girls that work there now just sit on their butts when there is nothing to do and play on their phones.
I can atest to that. Its irritating working with lazy mf coworkers
@@b-41subject57You know what's awesome? When the lazy coworker gets praised because he's clever enough to decieve the boss into thinking he's a more effective worker. And then you realize that hard workers and nice guys finish last while borderline sociopath behavior is rewarded in the workplace.
I've seen this happen before. It's depressing. I've also seen bosses who reward hard workers with more work and they never get a raise or promotion. It happens all the time.
@@GenerationX1984 the lazy people i work with, for the most part, are not rewarded. They should've been fired long ago, but my company will only fire you for something serious, like fighting lol. You can fall asleep on the job multiple times, and still not get fired lol
Nowadays, people get less and less for working hard. Back then it gave you the income to own a house, pay for college outright, get a car, and do fun things.
Now, hard work just gets you enough to afford food and rent
Lazy, mediocrity, work-from-home and quiet-quitting are NOT remotely the same thing.
Yup. Tired of the conflation.
In my office the ones who socialize the most are not asked to do anything. The person that works the most is always being questioned . The person doing the most is always having to correct the socializers work.
Life would be 1000x easier if everyone just did their job correctly so someone else doesn't have to spend half their day cleaning up messes ( figuratively speaking ).
Well that would be nice but why do it right if it is easier just to collect a paycheck?
@@donaldlyons17 That is exactly it. But it would be cheaper to have people do it right and not have to pay a completely separate person field their errors.
@@stevenporter863 no not really worth it to do it right otherwise people would almost always do it right except when they make mistakes
But then we are called “quiet quitters”, and gaslighted for not working 80 hours a week
Exactly.
I could get alot more done, if I didn't have to deal with whatever they feel their job is today.
I'm sure somebody will pick up my trash. I'm sure somebody will correct that. I'm sure somebody will fix that.
That somebody usually is one person.
Bet the company Is also understaffed...many companies are like that and people get frustrated when expected to do work of 2+ people.
"Those aren't leaders, those are wusses." Dave made the point on that one line.
Unless what they are getting paid reflects the amount of work they do.
Lazy people are everywhere. Even the next job!
This lady had the opportunity to be the boss and fix things but she didn't take it. Just based on that, I doubt her side of the story. She wants the job done her way, but wants someone else to make sure it's done her way. If willingly pass on the opportunity to fix things, don't complain that they're broken.
Good point.
You can't fix lazy or stupid. It's like reasoning with an addict or alcoholic. A hard worker is revolted by laziness and a lazy person resents a hard worker.
@@Labbernese77 100 percent correct. Everyday same ones on their phones watching videos meanwhile it is mentioned in meeting but never changes the bad habits. Until management realizes they can build a case and terminate people for not meeting minimum standards it will not change.
Exactly. You complain about things being wrong, you had an opportunity to fix things and for whatever reason you decided you didn't want to do that and are back complaining again now.
Who would want to be a mid-level boss in such an environment? You would have to spend almost all your time trying to prune the deadwood.

I bet she’s not a great worker herself. There’s one like her in every office. Worry about what you’re doing instead of what others are doing.
I was thinking the same thing from the very start of this conversation. Typically, the best workers say very little about what anyone else is doing in the office bc they are too busy doing their own work (and going above and beyond) to notice what many others are doing. Beware of people who consistently over value their own work and undervalue the work of those around them. In my experience these people are almost never as good as they think they are and are often a part of the problems in their work area.
I have felt with those type of people and they always bring moral down
The "personality assessment" has her all messed up. She thinks she's better than her coworkers, and not only bad mouths them, but makes them seem far worse than they actually are because of her superiority delusion. No matter where this narcissist goes, she will have issues.

@Tavari if she doesnt quite have enough yet to retire thats even more reason she should focus on doing her current job while maxing out her retirement accounts. People need to focus on the important things and not whether your coworker is working hard enough.

The work ethic has changed . A young person will refuse to do certain tasks and will leave a job in the minute
Work culture is changing and there is a value to work. If people working hard see no value, this is what happens. Now you have young people that have watched their parents struggle while working hard that can't retire. These are symptoms of a greater illness. We have kicked the can down the road on so many issues since the 70's and there are thousands of symptoms that have resulted. I really understand her. Same here but I pray to God to give me the patience and to learn how to focus just on me. As long that person don't get in my way...
Believe me I know about all this. What I do is just laugh and dare management to try and write me up for not doing other people's job for them.
She should have kept the managerial position. Absolutely nonsensical decision to step down.
On another note, it seems like her coworkers don't get paid enough... they're skipping work, there's high turnover...
she's the type of person who wants to tell people what to do without the official responsibility and headache that comes with doing it.
I hope she’s getting paid more than the others.
Thank you I really needed to see this❤
I go to work every day and try to be the person I want working for me. I ran my own business, so I know what is needed for the job. I rarely take vacation time, definitely never more than an occasional day that isn't scheduled as off. I don't worry about the others, not my problem.
Once you are in your 60s it's almost impossible to get hired--you're supposedly too old. Self employment would be nice if possible.
sometimes people try so hard to the point of people pleasing at their job. They end up being taken advantage of and bullied sometimes for reasons that are unknown it can be as simple as appearance or how you carry yourself . i have many times experienced burn out, anxiety and depression due to the fact that people have mistreated me it affects my performance and i fault to keep on top with anything because I was too busy worrying about the mistreatment. There may be a reason as to why you ppl don’t put so much effort because sometimes the environment your in no matter what you do won’t matter because no one cares or appreciates you.
Lazy coworkers are a pain but they’re everywhere. Work for yourself if you can
It pathetic that some" leadership" allows some employees do whatever they want, from leaving their desks SEVERAL times a day and taking SEVERAL breaks to flirt at work with co workers in and out of the work room, it is so UNPROFESSIONAL. How can leadership allows all that behavior is incompetent to say the least.
The problem is that the doers get the work of the slackers and then the doers are overwhelmed and resentful. Employers need to deal with slackers instead of breaking the backs of their doer employees who will eventually leave out of sheer frustration.
This woman sounds toxic. Her coworkers probably hope she is hired elsewhere.
She is definitely a Karen.
Amen to that. I am in the same situation.its very frustrating
She sounds like a Karen…..HOWEVER, I definitely understand her frustration on working with lazy people. It gets old very quickly always having to pick up the slack.

In fairness, there are a lot of people in that generation that didn't grow up on computers so they are so remarkably slow. It takes them 10 hours to do what others can do in 30 mins. I actually had an older direct report complain that his workload took him 10+ hrs per day and he thought it wasn't fair. I showed him he was completing like 10% of his co-workers. Didn't matter, still thought he was right.
My colleague works very long hours, takes her laptop and files home and works in the evening. She HAS taken on burdensome extra duties. However, I watched her type, and she uses the hunt-and-peck method. She took an inordinate amount of time to send a memo that would have taken me less than one minute. She said her mother didn’t want her to learn to type, because she would have ended up in a dead-end job as a secretary. Before computers, that was true. After realizing this, I quit feeling guilty that she appeared to be working so hard.
@@genxx2724 Why feel guilty? Working hard doesn't mean anything if she's not working efficiently or the quality of the work is bad. She chooses to make her job hard.

Sounds like she has a great opportunity to work in her 60's when most companies wouldn't give her a second glance to be honest even if it's not fair. She should be thanking her lucky stars she still has a job after reaching the level of her own incompetence in management and having to go back down the ladder. Not a lot of companies would give her a second chance. Complaining about people working remote is an antiquated mentality. Your work can be done remote now. We have the technology. Get with the times. Stop caring where people work and how busy they look and look at their outcomes. It's that simple.
You wrote two similar sentences stating that a company would not give her a second chance/glance, etc.
@Art Garfunkle Or a bootycall.
Ken is wrong, again. These people make it seems like getting a job is so easy. It is not.
I'm a Nurse my email inbox is full of head hunters soliciting.
Depends on the career
@@djpuplex america loves you and all nurses in our country. Thank you. I am blessed to be married to an LPN family practice. She is wonderful and you all are the same. Hard working, non selfish always caring with love. !!!! Thank you!!!!
@@djpuplex nursing is one field where you will always find a job easily . Every field not so lucky. I am a nurse as well
@@djpuplex Ninety nine percent of jobs are not like that.
Wait... I can understand complaining about lazy workers because they are annoying to work with BUT to call Dave Ramsey and complain?? 🤣🤣🤣 bruhh
I'm in a similar situation, all I'm doing is arsewiping morons day after day. Management do nothing about it. People literally sat there watching films when they should be operating machinery. It's like a holiday camp for them while I'm expected to remain professional and attended their 'breakdowns' which aren't breakdowns.
Don’t get a new job. It’s like this everywhere.
Goodness im so passionate about my work and i like to do well by my boss im soooooo tired of working with lazy staff soooo annoying
Are people leaving this job because of her?
I think so lol
You can be sure the answer is YES! Why would you want someone not in management telling you what to do.
Didn't think of that til I read your comment. Good point
I'm at my 4th job in my career and my current one is the first I've ever seen people 1) even willing to just not do anything, 2) can get away with doing it, 3) can royally eff something up that costs the department tons of money and not be reprimanded, and 3) will receive no public lashing, 4) but those that do their work will get the whip cracked on them with very little acknowledgement of a job well done.
Needless to say I'm heading out in due time because this is the most dysfunctional management I've ever witnessed and I've been at a start-up, so that's saying something.
Thank you both for this, needed to hear something to help me out. Good workers are not valued in today society. Companies hire people with no motivation and even the company loses its motivation (management) doesn't even care. Hope someone out there agrees with me. Things aren't how they used to be and it's sad. God bless you all. 🙏
Your 61 lady you could age discrimination from other jobs that want younger people.
I think Dave completely undermined Ken's piece. Lol 😆
Yes, 62 yr old Dave who's not looked for a job in 30 years thinks she can just find another one today.
Ken has been on a roll lately
Those are wooses 🤣🤣
This world is stupid, full of slackers. In any job you will need to bare with them. If you like working you will be the one doing their jobs and not being appreciated for it. People no longer have work ethics. If you like working, not loosing your ethics and not doing others jobs without recognition, save some money and open your company. Unfortunately that's the only option now.
You go Dave!!! Spot on!!! Almost every job I had in a leadership role I came in to a situation like your caller was describing. Holding people accountable quickly turned things around. I gave people a chance to change and if they didn't they were terminated. Probably harder to do today but I believe it still can be done. Thanks for your show and advice; I always enjoy both!
As I am sure you held yourself "accountable"
@@Rover19666 Absolutely!
Good for you. Some people will never change, no matter how many times they are given a chance. They just have to move on or be moved on.
Except she didn't like being in leadership & went back to her old job. Ken said she had a chance to fix things & didn't.
Not enough info here. When does she plan to retire? Can she afford to retire? How many more years does she plan to work? Can she start her own business or create a job for herself? What are her skills?
Angela from "The Office".....
😂
Like Doctor Deloney says, “You go with you.” A change of environment is nice, but you also have to examine if you yourself are the issue. The tone and motive sounds like she is more of the problem and coworkers are less of the issue.
Not necessarily. The co workers are an issue because management allows it. I decided to work for me only so I don't have to deal with the situation she's describing.
You really have to examine yourself. I know I cannot stomach lazy coworkers, since it affected my work. I let the lazy yappers be, and moved on. Not looking forward to working in that environment again, ever.
That's how it is everywhere now. Worry about yourself not others and stay where you are
Hhhm I've worked with people like her and they just make out they are the most conscientious but actually have no ideas and no real input to the workforce. I'd be cautious about her claims
