- No copyright infringement intended. "Reflections" was truly the Supremes demarcation...between Florence Ballard's being removed from the group and Cindy Birdsong being installed. Our memories of this song are with Cindy's performing the song, but, of course, it's Flo (and Mary Wilson) singing on the recording's background.

If they handed out Grammys for the intros to hit singles the producers of "Reflections" by The Supremes should win one hands down. It was waaaay cool back then and, just like most Supremes singles, has held up beautifully with the passage of the years.
Good to see that Florence Ballard is on these pics knowing that came up the name of the Supremes. She deserves the credit and respect that she didn't get. Love Florence Ballard Forever.
Cindy was great, but RIP Flo...so beautiful, do talented. We love you, Flo, forever.

John. this is a sublime reworking, true to the original intent, but with SO much more woven into it. In retrospect, the original vinyl album side one had slightly, dare I say psychedelic musical influences,while side two featured less adventurous material. Cloud Nine, The Temptations first foray into Norman Whitfield's "psychedelic soul" took the same approach. Norman did cut work with The Supremes, but Berry most likely didn't want to go there. Our loss for sure. Thanks for this great mix!
A kid when they had their hey day, this is pure magic, every girl I knew wanted to be a Supreme, Diana, Florence, Mary, Cindy and even Jean after Diana, they will never be equaled, so glad I got to witness a part of it..

@@MizuFusion but you can’t argue with technology. George Solomon and Andrew skurow who are responsible for all of the releases of Supremes material and have access to the logs and have the technology to separate voices on the song confirmed that Marlene Barrow sang with Mary not Flo

Florence Ballard was a talented singer in her own right...Berry Gordy, genius; however...while he was 'promoting' Diana Ross (at some point) I believe he could have made solo artists / stars of each...in the same way with all the Temptation's 'lead singers' and lineup changes. 'China Beach' was f-ing cool and this song was used for the intro sequences! The shorter version was used that can only do the song, and era justice because of the character intros were during the sequence.

Born and raised on Motown. This is my favorite Supremes song, a classic no matter who’s singing the background. The Funk Brothers at their best.
A very serious and deep song, that makes you think and reflect. I was very young when this was released, and I also enjoyed this because older adults and teens loved the song.

An amazing song.. amazing group, and an amazing label. Gordy was an absolute genius with Motown.. these songs never get old.
JJ’s bass lines are great and rhythmic. It’s really kind of a trippy song and you get used to it. The hook is normal, the rest is artsy and psychedelic.
