Thank you Mosogotam Mr John Perrone you mixed some of the best music ever produced don't think a lot of of us knew you passed.where ever your soul is keep on mixing God bless n massive respect from Robin hood country NottinghamEngland
This has got to be among the absolute greatest written, musicianship worked, and sung songs of all time in the History of Music. It's really just breathtaking.
And huge shout out to the unsung heroes the Funk Brothers who created the music on all the Motown hits. They literally standing in the shadows. RIP James Jameson and Benny Benjamin!!!!
On a vacation with my mom to las vegas we were privileged to see the 4 tops/4 seasons. We had front row seats. I about lost my mind it was so fabulous. My mom thought I went crazy. Good times.
I heard the first and short song, "Standing in the Shadows of Love," when I was in the eighth grade in junior high school. It is one of my favorite Four Tops songs. In fact, the Four Tops were my first favorite [male] Motown groups in 1965 when I heard their song "I Can't Help Myself, at my elementary school graduation. I thought about this song in my mind when I was in junior high school. All I can mention is that John Perrone, as Mosogotam, did a superior job in improving the play time to this song, "Standing in the Shadows of Love." I could not ask for more than I wish he was alive.
The greatest voice that ever lived! Best group we ever had the priveledge of hearing. Theyre timeless! All the talent of The Adantes and Holland, Dozier, Holland!
I wouldn't be surprised! I saw the Tops in concert twice, what a voice....very operatic with soul. The Four Tops with the Andantes backup+Funk Bros., inc. James Jamerson were incomparable. Holland-Dozier-Holland wrote masterpieces..... Bernadette is my fave, but this is up there too. RIP Levi, James and other fantastic musicians who have passed. I know y'all are jammin' in heaven, and that makes me smile;)
Ole’ Levi Stubbs had a trumpet and clarion voice. Greater, in my opinion, than all the temptations combined. With perfect phrasing and even subtle inflections that put him squarely at the top level of the Motown troupe. A true “artist” vocalist that causes today’s self described artist to pale and just slink off somewhere wherever whatever. Heart, and soul, and a superlative gift. And class makes him peerless. And he loved and respected his band mates to the end. A real gentleman! Paul W. Green
Yes Levi Stubbs was one of the greatest Black Male Soul Singers ever, but him an David Ruffing ran neck to neck. David also had a very distinct unique voice that would not be denied. They are IMO 2 of the Best to ever do it, dut can not deny David Ruffin as well!!!
I'm 59 years of age. The Motown Sound was a major part of the soundtrack of my childhood. My brother and I would spend countless hours trying to dissect and get into the finer nuances of this great sound (unplugging the right speaker to hear the bass and drums, but not the guitar or unplugging the left speaker to hear the guitar, piano and vocals but not the drums ans bass, etc...) Your mixes have made it possible to hear the raw, uncut Funk Brothers, down in that "Snake-pit" at the top of their craft. Man, what a time in musical achievement. Keep up the great work. Mosogotam, your mixes are bringing joy to the hearts of thousands.
My big brother, William T. Gibson always had this type of music playing every morning, especially on weekends. He passed away December 26, 1995; just listening to great music in his honor. I miss you, big bro.
The 4 Tops is one of my all time singing group. From way back in the day. And at time it was a lot better than it now. The prices was not that high, like it is today. You could afford to buy food. And buy a car, without breaking the Bank. Now, in 2023 everything is sky high. And the Government makes it hard for you to live. Anyway, the 4 Tops is still awesome to listen to.
