I don’t like the push to decorate too early but might this year as I want to minimize my ornament collection and that will be hard (inherited a lot of my sister’s handmade ornaments). I love everything. Yes indeed, twinkly lights are welcome during our 'dark days' but no ornaments yet. Since 2020 we are starting earlier and earlier I noticed. What's that insert you made for the Christmas tree? When was that? Looks great but I'd miss the scent of the tree... and I don't understand that mirror image at 15:22. That's the hallway with the pom-poms so how is there a mirror? I believe there is a door on the left, how did that big mirror get there? FUNNY that Advent story... He-he. For years I had the most beautiful naturally decorated wreath, - as advent - with a big chunky candle in the middle and I burned down one a week. The GARLAND is going to end up on your head in the middle of the night... LOL.. your should hang it with some lights on around the balcony door.. ♡♡♡ xx..

This is exactly what I needed today, our first snowfall in southwestern Ontario🇨🇦 Every idea, Benita, is inspiring me today! Another minimal gift to consider is one my nephews give me every year: a donation to the Terry Fox Foundation and/or UNICEF. It always warms my heart to know that others in greater need than I are receiving support.

I don't give gifts to adults, instead I make a donation to a worthy charity. I let people know who has received the contribution.
@@anaalves3658 It seems to me that this takes the recipients needs and wishes totally out of the equation. Doesn't feel like a personal gift and if the recipient truly needs or wants something they are left feeling hollow. Just my thoughts.

The bit about the mistletoe and made me laugh and almost tear up at once 🥹 I’m going back to France this Christmas, so will be spending it without my cat Pixie who will stay in the warm Australian summer.
I believe time together, paired with an activity, makes for a great gift - we’re so busy, especially during the silly season, that a “voucher to go to the movies together” (where I pay for the movie ticket, and let my friend pick the film of course) is always appreciated. So I’m not only giving my money, but also my time, to my loved ones.

Hello from 🇨🇦, Benita. I always enjoy your holiday decorating video so very much, that I watch them multiple times even thru out the year. I love seeing your minimal lighting adding warmth and cheer to your apartment. I too love setting up my Christmas lights around our home and enjoy them well into the new year. I have added two IKEA type window stars to our decor and with two small berry wreaths and a couple of small garlands of cones and cotton, we are enjoying our small additions well before December this year. Have a lovely day .
I think a lot of people starting to decorate early this year. A bit of nice in a not so nice world.

These are so easy and satisfying to make, so go for it!
Two other gift suggestions. Make a donation to the charity of the gift receiver’s choice or create certificates of service. A day of dog sitting, mowing the yard, running a half day of errands for example. This was a beautiful video.

Wonderful decoration, Benita❤️🌲 We put our christmastree on the balcony in the beginning of Decmber. It lights up our kitchen from outside and gives the warm feeling we all need. Furthermore, it stays fresh and in January we can throw it down, unfortunately😉 and will have no needles in the flat🙈. Many thanks for your ideas all over the years. I have a Swedish friend who lives in the UK and at Christmas she wraps the Swedish flags around her tree 🌲
The flags is an old tradition that we've never done in my family since my mom was German. Look cute though!

I really like your Greenery on your headboard! Makes it look so much more warm and cozy. When our 3 adult girls were grown we realize that they really didn't have the budget to buy everybody presents at Christmas. Now that they have their own families the same as even more true. Not everyone has a resources to buy multiple gifts for people. We try to avoid gift cards as they can be seen as fairly impersonal. Instead we do stocking stuffers small items that we know that they use and enjoy and some homemade food items. This year I did some olive oil packed roasted organic tomatoes that I grew in our garden. Minimal gift ideas to me are really also minimal outlay of cash with the economy the way it is and prices way way up at least in the United States. Concert tickets, depending on what kind of concerts you're talking about can be exorbitantly expensive for most people. Unless you're talking about local small symphonies? Or? You can really save a lot of money if you do your own Foods as far as cooking, making your own smoothies Etc. I know some of those pre-made smoothie drinks are handy but can get pretty expensive over time. But if you can afford it go for it!

A wonderful video. I love the simple beauty of your Christmas decorations and the calmness that your home brings. I enjoy decorating for Christmas myself. I love to decorate the shrubs outside my home in white lights. I do keep it fairly simple indoors. I also used to have live trees but I invested in an artificial tree that really has the look and feel of a real tree. We spend our Christmas and winters in Florida. Lots of warmth and sunshine, but, I still love the peace and stillness of the cold winters night. Have a blessed Christmas season🎄🎄🎄

Tusen tack for the - as always - amazing and cozy video, Benita ✨️ In my family we read a lot and we have this tradition that each one writes down their book wishes on little pieces of paper and puts them in an envelope (usually a few more wishes that people that are engaged). My mother than hangs them up on a string at my parents' house and each member chooses one book of each of the other envelopes. So for example I gift a book each to both my parents, brother, and partner and I will get 4 books in return.
In that way everyone gets only what they wish for but will also be surprised what books they get by whom 😊 Greetings from Vienna!

So pretty :) Our family picks names for each adult with a budget limit per person. None of us make very much money these days, so it’s nice to know what level of gift expectation to buy without feeling pressure to spend more than we can afford.
I love the toilet paper roll flower! I'm going to have to squeeze that in this year. I LOVE your style and I am a minimalist, but my family isn't on board for such neutral and calming decor. Oh, I'm sorry to hear your Joy Advent Lights is no longer working. I have always enjoyed all the lights you have chosen for the windows. Especially the two advent lights & the large paper star light. Gifting is something I love, receiving not so much. I hope to get a seasonal fruit basket or homemade goodies. Things that are not permanent.

Love your tree - it was cute seeing Bonus enter the frame as you were assembling it. I noticed you had what appears to be a magnet mounted to the ceiling which made it easy to use the hook with the magnet to hang your decor. Where do you find and how do you mount ceiling magnets? I’m all in for consumable gifts. I’ve pared down my home items considerably and don’t need more stuff. I decorated with small stuffed winter owls this year. I have them sitting on a white ceramic tray with fairy lights. Also have candles, greenery and fairy lights placed about. Those are things I’ll leave up all winter for hygge effect. Bring on the chai tea and cakes!
I found the magnet at a store called Clas Ohlson. It's adhesive so you stick it to the ceiling and leave the base there. Then you can remove the hook part when not in use. It's just a little dot that's hardly seen since it's so high up.

I commented last video, but have to say again, I do love that chest in your kitchen that you are waiting to take to your summer home. You Ikea tree is nice decorated simply and makes the room so cozy at night with the lights and candles. Always like to see how you gift wrap your gifts each year. Inspirational vlog. I am minimalist in decor. My decor usually goes up the middle of December but have a tradition of taking it down on the 12th night after Christmas. But I love the idea of a few lights up, so may well do that. Great gift ideas.
