Kyle just bricked 10% of the worlds RTX 3060's.
Which is why i genuinely laughed my ass off when Kyle posted on his alt account that he lives a normal boring life. Lmfao yeah right. Kyle legit doesnt realize hes part of the PC 1%.
he was too eager to stick that connector in the motherboard
Yes lol. He bricked an "unobtainium" card, to quote Linus :))) OMFG
@@corporealghoul What is his alt?

Hmmm even the Verge PC booted. We deserve a "Lyle reacts to Kyle frying a PC" video.
Lyle deserves it after being clowned on by the entire internet for years and in perpetuity
Lyle reacts to this needs to happen lol
0 tweezers out of 10.
Mate! That is a harsh burn! I have sympathy burns.
Lyle has been missed for far too long. He definitely needs to come back
This new set up has helped my stream and work flow immensely. I really couldn’t be more appreciative of you and the companies involved. Thank you again🙏🤘
Your music is killer!
It is awesome that the recipient of the system replied to the video. You are an awesome friend and artist. I will follow you on Twitch. Feel free to raid my streams.
Can you tell him if he can build me a pc and I’ll pay?
@@twix7840 RUclipsrs are not system builders. Build something yourself or buy something from a trusted SI like Origin PC’s
Kyle you fried the whole pc.....at least the verge build worked hahahaha sorry could not resist.
Dude I would cry if I just fried a grand worth of parts. I’d never build one again
I can just imagine the guy from the verge saying, “we can just plug that cable in, as long as most of the pins are in we should be fine, that’s normal”
@Matthieu Zionist I mean I think it's more of a PSA don't push it in the wrong hole we all know this will be brought up for awhile
It only worked when they fixed it off camera and pretended it was originally built that way
@Matthieu Zionist In the words of Gordon Ramsay, "F**k off, you donut!"
Very important lesson for us, who's not RUclipsrs and broke.
I miss Lyle
I thought I was reading that wrong...
*Kyle fries a 3060, emails the brand and gets another one in 4 days*
And i took that personally
yeah...that's messed up ;(
I don’t think you are the only one. I pre ordered an Aorus RTX 3080 Xtreme for about €1150 and stil waiting for almost 4 months now. He just gets a new one in 4 days for free (wel he promotes it, but stil its free)
@Disguised Dv8ant to be fair, he earned this. Him and Linus and Jay etc...get some freebies to "market" but they also get to be critical (tell the truth). They aren't average consumers and should be treated as average consumers. They're influencers
@Disguised Dv8ant totally get that we can't relate to "I broke the GPU so they sent me a new one" for a computer I'm building for my friend from some band.
@@Sancto-NL The difference is that 3060 is in stock and 3080 is not.

when its In stock
@@TheIndustrialRevolution So, never?
This guys spoiled the video for me lol
At this point, I don't think this is cute or funny. I have been waiting more than a year to upgrade my GPU. If my GPU happens to RIP, I have no chance to even replace it with anything equivalent for a similar price. Quite frankly, I don't even like watching these PC build channels anymore because it is just rubbing it in our faces. I don't blame the creators but there is a lot to be said about optics and what your viewers are dealing with. This is far past haha funny, when you have to pay double for 2 generation old GPUs.
The only "knife twist" is that he could call and ask for one in the first place.
If you actually had one and "blew it out" you could do exactly what he did, because ALL manufacturers keep a stock of cards on hand to satisfy RMAs of already existing customers.
Gigabyte: gives Kyle a 3060 even thought they are so rare
Kyle: Breaks it
Gigabyte: GIves him ANOTHER ONE
yeah, due to a one off accident that he didn't intend to happen... that's what happens when you build these lasting relationships with these companies that you give free marketing to, for hundreds of thousands of dollars saved by them. Is what it is, use GeForce NOW or Google Stadia if you just absolutely cannot wait for supply to equalize with demand.
@Matthieu Zionist that's quite the conspiracy going on there, any evidence?
@Matthieu Zionist and it would give him more views.
Exactly this and ngl it pisses me off
Ok but gigabyte doesn’t have to go and buy a 3060 off of Amazon they make the gpus
On todays episode of Brickwit, Kyle kills 3 unobtainable parts with the click of a button!
@@lamergamer4743 Not by me in the UK, 3700xs are silly prices, motherboards like the b550 ones aren't all that common, rams gone up, storage now too, its a faf.
Now, lets do a follow up video where the vendors tell you exactly what you messed up on each piece of hardware...
If the (spoilers!) 20+4 was misaligned 'up' 2, then the technical term is 'it borked'. Just from a casual glance at a pinout I see more than one 12v and 5v psu connectors would connect to ground, some 5v and 3.3v lines would see 12v and more. It's a wonder the PSU and capture card weren't smoke checked too. They weren't were they?
@@shannonrhoads7099 Yeah when he said 2 pins over I basically knew it was fkerd. We can do something so many times and still screw it up as we after all are human for now...
@@shannonrhoads7099I am more curious how he got the square pins to fit into the partially rounded plugs. It's not exactly easy to force them together.
@@dhoyda Aftermarket cable extensions just go cheap and don't have the full security keyed different shape profiles, so it's possible to plug it in like that.

You bricking the PC
Or you managing to get a replacement GPU 🤣
got the gpu .. twice lol. nice system tho
I'm right with you! Also the CPU (AMD) wasn't initially involved in the making of said vid. Pretty sure there's three or four distinct palm marks on my forehead.
This also tells me that products are sitting on the shelves of manufacturers. They're taking advantage of the current situation and controlling the supply and demand even more in order to increase MSRP.
@@shojan1942 Although could be right about the GPU, the CPU was a 3700x which is readily available by retailers.
I am not trying to be an Ahole but speaking as someone who was planning on upgrading my GPU a year ago and still can't and I can't even find a new generation console, I wouldn't promote how easy it is for you to get one new GPU let alone an immediate replacement.
people: dang we cant buy gpus and all that because of mining..
BitWit: you be dang right it _because of miners!!!_
*scratches head and looks to the side* “the miners stole the gpu!”
I am a gamer and was able to buy a 3080 for $1000 in November! Tired of the miners being scapegoats! The GPU's were available between September through December at a few hundred over MSRP. "Gamer's" were to damn ignorant to go and buy one back then! Fast forward months later and MSRP has doubled if not tripled! How is this a miner issue now? You all had your chance but were to damn cheap! And if you think that a 3080 will be available at pre MSRP hikes in the coming months, don't hold your breath! Next time don't be so cheap! Was also able to pick up a used 2080 super in December for $600, so I don't blame miners! Blame yourself! I now mine on both GPU's and was able to recoup the 2080 money in 2.5 months.

Course. There is me looking at him gift 4k to his mates... So why is he asking the vendors ..
@Double-Edge sure....
I never seen anyone mess up that 24 pins connector to the motherboard, actually thought it wasn't possible to plug it like that.
Indeed, this is super weird. It shouldn't be possible to do what he said he did.
Especially since the plug is recessed in the MB. The connector shouldn't have been able to fit incorrectly.
I've got to try that 24 pin insertion when I go back to work...11 years working at a computer repair shop & I didn't think that was possible to do. Of course I won't power it on though.

I only even have this laptop because someone at work gave it to me broken a few years ago and said if I wanted to fix it I could have it.
@@ajohnson153 theres the "someone's"trash" is others gold" pretty sad how that is and i dont mean that only in pc world
@@ajohnson153 I still have a 980 in mine. Granted I don't really play anything intensive, that could change at any moment, and being able to, say, randomly hop into Cyberpunk or something, would be nice. Some sad sacks bought prebuilts with 1030s and such to pair with an i3-10100 or whatever the new ones are, you certainly are doing better than they are
I'm not sure that could be fixed. The CPU is toast and nothing can fix that. The motherboard is another story, but I can't even imagine trying to track down the issue let alone actually do SMD soldering (EEEK) I seriously doubt you could get a replacement chipset if the chipset itself is fried. Same thing with the graphics card........and what if the silicon is bad? You can't buy the GPU silicon. It' would be easier to get the actual working card than a replacement silicon.
Isn't the 24 pin MoBo power header connectors supposedly keyed with a notch to keep this from happening?
Yes, but the notch runs along the entire edge so you wouldn't be able to tell

Another good title would have been "hahahaha you stupid peons. I can brick a gpu and just ask for a new one."
I 100% expect a Lyle reaction video to this one.
I can't wait to be in a position where I can accidentally fry sponsored product that don't exist, and get new replacements for items that don't exist.

I will sell you my 1050-TI for $200 on eBay.
@@darknightmike10yearsago, I have two already. I'll sell one to you for $199.99.
How did you explain this to NZXT, Corsair, etc 😬😳
Nzxt has a amd version of their popular n7 boards on a b550 they want advertisement. Jay just did a video on the same board too. Also advertises their 280mm CLC at same time. Corsair wants you to think their ram is pretty and high quality that someone who uses it for mission critical work like recording their songs for work is relying on it. Gigabyte know they dont need to advertise to sell a new gpu, but this looks like a new model as its their top of the line sku that they are now putting a 3060. The wanna show they make high end gpu’s too and in the future make you consider getting an auros versus a ftw3 or strix. Plus just buying goodwill with the tech community so people might buy gigabyte motherboards, or power supplies (avoid the 850 watt and 750 watt gold model, often bundled in newegg shuffle. It has hundreds of DOA reviews and they are forced to keep it as they would need to return the gpu they were able to buy to also return the psu) and other gigabyte products. What it cost them maybe a few hundred bucks each of products for instant hundred of thousands of eyes. Plus the content lives forever so it just gets them more advertising and mindshare. “If this big tech reviewer is using the product it has to be high quality.” Type of stuff.
@@Jsteeeez Wow. All of that for a rhetorical question.

Good video dude and it shows that even seasoned vets get it wrong from time to time. At least you documented and owned up to your mistakes unlike Stefan Etienne at The Verge. It's all part and parcel of PC building.

Here I am everyday entering Newegg stupid shuffle hoping that I would win the opportunity to buy a video card at a ridiculous price. And Kyle in all his glory ends up frying a beautiful video card, but ends up getting a brand new card... there is something wrong with the universe.😡😒🤨
The difference is that he is a massive youtuber
If it takes you a few minutes to check on Newegg a day for a graphics card, it took him several hours of work a day for several years to get to the point where he was able to ask for such things :)
There might be "wrong" things with the universe but this ain't one of them

Kyle, you're a true here for posting this, warts and all. I'm sure people can learn a lot more from mistakes you makes, and not just simple quick builds. I really appreciate this.
Congrats you got when most people cant, not to mention you got 2 and destroyed one of them.
Man I thought I was unlucky to have an un-grounded RGB light strip brick two motherboards and a processor... glad the vendors were able to save the day!
Blows my mind he blows up id say close to 2 grand in parts (price due to shortage) but still, even after that the manufacturers just replaced everything.. If someone like us did something like that, they would just tell us to piss off.
Time for a new career: Brick layer.
Kyle getting a 3060 in 4 days shows how fucked the pc market is rn, companies give zero fucks about the average consumer but is happy to send off another card to techtubers when they brick one.
This video pisses me of so much.
The best part of the video is you giving the computer to your friend. Oh wait, you didn't even bother to show that.
How is that even possible. I thought the 24pin had different shaped connectors to prevent this scenario completely?
Never seen misalignment like this before. Object lesson that even experienced PC builders make mistakes. Good lesson for us all to be careful when building or upgrading in future. Very lucky that the various manufacturers helped out.
Once again making my day 10x seeing you video!

Hi
Hello :)
It's too bad that case has such bad airflow because it's absolutely gorgeous
@Richard O'shea that's not what I would consider stellar for those parts
Which styles of mousemats are being discontinued?
Bummer :) I wonder if boards could have a ridge on both ends of the 24pin so we avoid overhangs in the dark - not sure if that prevents compatibility though.
Excellent reminder though to myself for the next DDR5 build: breadboard stock/aircooler + CPU +1 ram stick first, then 2 sticks and GPU, then case cooling.
Now we know why there are GPU shortages... Because of Kyle killing them all 🤦♂️

You cant even mock the verge and stefan at this point
Ever since seeing this video I pay EXTRA SPECIAL ATTENTION to plugging in my cables.
Damn Kyle, did you really have to make your videos even crispier? 🔥
That's total bullshit, we normies are literally dying to 'buy' some of those components whereas this dood bricked the components and get replacements freely, directly from the manufacturer
Pathetic.
Ouch. Sounds like the 5v standby pin went into the 'power good' pin. It was fried as soon as the PSU was turned on.

Damn I know we're humans and are not perfect.... we make mistakes. BUT DAMN YO?? IT'S ALWAYS COMMON PRACTICE WHEN YOU'RE BUILDING A COMPUTER, YOU'RE ALWAYS MAKE SURE WHATEVER YOU PLUG IN IT'S PLUGGED IN CORRECT AND ALL THE WAY.... ESPECIALLY WHEN IT COMES TO ANY KIND OF POWER CONNECTORS. AND THEN YOU JUST CALL THE MANUFACTURERS TELL HIM YOU SCREWED UP AND THEY SEND YOU ALL NEW PARTS?? I COULD DEFINITELY TELL WHO WAS SPOON-FED WHEN THEY GREW UP
Show me that you get special treatment without telling me you get special treatment.

Well, I also fried a 3070 Aorus Master last week and got my replacement yesterday so you’re not alone and at least yours didn’t start steaming smoke out of the fans
The ATX power plug is keyed for this very reason. You must have put some strength into pushing 6 square-shaped pin jackets into 6 hexagonal-shaped pin holes. The force required to do so should've alerted you that it wasn't lined up correctly to begin with.
I don't ever post comments, but damn man. You messed up. Thanks for being honest and showing us, but and you should have used your OWN parts to fix your mistake. Own the problem and then fix it WITHOUT reaching out to vendors to fix it.
Man, I really feel for you with that fried system. I could easily have done the same.
The only reason I can build a rig right the first time now is because in the past I made every mistake possible, repeatedly.
>judges others' PCs

I swear.. the only way to get a new GPU these days is by either being friends with a tech tuber or being an influencer...
Not really most of them need to buy their own and some still didn't get their GPU
Best example of why it's best to build outside of the case FIRST! But that cable alignment issue could have been made at either stage of the build. Maybe NZXT should look into that.
Fried CPU, GPU and mobo. So metal
Imagine all of us cannot get a 30 series GPU and he just killed one...
My respect for you 📉📉📉 ive been trying as hard as i can trying to get a gpu then i see you break one and then you are able to get another one sent to you just like that ffs
