I've been using my Aurora-r4 since 2013. Still has all the original parts except the hard drive and the graphics card. Never had any problems with this PC. It's built like a beast. Well except that I have to squeeze down hard on the power button to turn it on if I do a hard shut down. But aside from that, never had any issues and it is still running perfectly.
I think it has to do with the weight of the chassis. It is heavy and it sits directly on hardwood flooring so there's virtually no vibrations that can damage its components.
I just build a PC with the exact same case, just a better (evga 3080) gpu. The case is great! Love it. I would recommend putting the Noctua fans in the front and the stock on top, seeing as top fans make less of a difference. Omg i used to play on the exact same Alienware Pre-Build for years until i saved enough money to build my own gaming pc a year ago. Gotta admit for being a Pre-build this old, it really survived for a very long time given that i play a lot. (had to replace the GPU to a 1050Ti after a while tho) But jesus compared to what i play on now i cant even imagine how i survived on my old system that long..... for comparison this is my new one: GPU: Aorus RTX 2080 super (vertical Mounted) CPU: Ryzen 7 3800x Ram: 2 x 8 gig Corsair Vengeance LPX black Motherboard: ROG-Strix B-550-F Gaming PSU: Thermaltake ROME 750w 80 plus Gold M.2 SSD: 970 Samsung EVO plus 1 TB HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2 TB ----------- And on the side for the style: Case: NZXT 710 Black AIO: NZXT Z-73 Black PSU Cables: Lian-Li Strimmer 24 Pin RGB Cables Case Fans: Enermax RGB So yeah the jump from my old to my new System was freaking HUGE. BTW thx to Kyle without you i wouldnt have been able to build my PC like this
What's so crazy about an optical drive? I put Blu-Ray drives in a lot of my builds, especially work stations. It is getting harder and harder to find decent cases that support external drives, but there are still some out there. Some cases have versions with and without them. Usually I'll get one of those adapters where you can put a slim drive in a full sized drive bay with the extra space used for SD card readers and a couple USB ports if the case only has one drive bay.
Personally I would've put the SSD on the mount on the bottom right of the case (when looking in from the side with the TG) because the 870 EVO is a pretty minimalistic looking drive and also those weird looking screws for sliding the drive tray on give me ocd.
13:03 Guys, please don't do this. Except that you will be voiding your warranty, there is a possibility of you taking a memory module that is connected to the sticker off and so damaging your NVMe drive.
It's nice seeing a normal build every once in a while, you know? I liked this. 2TB Gen 4 NVMe was a bit much, but he won't be running out of room any time soon I hope.
I understand what you're saying about compatibility, but if you get two of the same 16gb kits they are almost guaranteed to work, especially if they're not running at a really high speed that would stress the memory controller. Having 4 sticks of 8 vs 2 sticks of 16 will give you a bit of extra performance though, moreso on Ryzen than Intel, since you would be running quad rank vs dual rank. Nothing huge, but an extra few percent.
I was a little concerned about three exhaust fans but the black looks better in that spot because they're more visible. Great choice. Also, if I had a nickel for every time I struggled with an M.2 heat sink, I'd have enough to buy a new 3090 at scalper price.
omfg 25:05 so I bought (and still have) a phanteks enthoo evolv case for my 6700k computer once upon a time. I wanted canada computers to install a h110i in the case, but they came back and said "it no fit" What the hell you mean it don't fit? pc parts picker even says it fits. But whatever I just installed a h80i and dealt with thermal throttling for 2-3 years before I decided I would figure it out myself Apparently the nice people at CC didn't bother to remove that sliding doodangle at the timestamp. Phanteks you need to make that a bit more obvious because even tech "professionals" have no idea what to do
Tbh I would just cut all the RGB off. I love the way blacked out Noctua builds look, that being said I have an RGB puke build myself so "to each is own". Love the vids Kyle keep it up man.
for a Ryzen 9 3900X, the stock cooler is totally sufficient. No need to go any higher. (I do video editing (Davinci resolve) and quad monitor gaming and the stock cooler never goes over medium.)
Had the exact same alienware pc. Only thing that broke in 7-8 years was the gpu. I swapped it for a gtx970 and upgraded to 12gb of ram. Ran every game just fine. It's a good pc
Whenever I'm doing something whether it's working on cars, building PC's or even do simple things like the dishes I pretty much randomly talk to myself too. It's perfectly fine.
That gap between the blu-ray & fans is one of the reasons I choose chungus cases like the HAF-X & Obasian 1000D, have an original Corsair H100i, 2 Blu-ray drives as well as a NZXT 2-slot fan controler display (Has clock +RPM & temp readout) along with a Maxmimus VI Extreme, 2 GPU's & a corsair 1500W PSU
Kyle: uses 1 hand to install a GPU and does not drop it. Linus: Uses both hands to install a GPU and drops it and creates a whole new video on fixing a GPU that would cost 10 grand because of its water cooling.

Also Kyle: pulls out 1660ti and 3900x
Me: starts dying inside
It really isn't. Those are great components for a workstation too. Gaming would have been a 3700 or 3800 8 core.
"Ok you can stick a piece of paper in there" I was rolling
I just build a PC with the exact same case, just a better (evga 3080) gpu. The case is great! Love it. I would recommend putting the Noctua fans in the front and the stock on top, seeing as top fans make less of a difference. Plus you really don't need pretty braided sleeve cables for the cpu cable, seeing as it is tucked right back behind the mobo and the top fans cover everything.
If you just listen to the audio for this Kyle literally sounds like he's going insane.
You dont need to remove the M.2 sticker tho. The copper already functions as a tiny heatsink and besides, NAND likes to run a little hotter
that sticker is actually meant to be left on even with a heat sink its a heatsink its self and gives alot better contact
Then why make it a removable sticker?
@@kanishkachakraborty did you see the copper underbelly?
@@accelement3499 I thought you meant the plastic sticker on the motherboard SSD heatsink. Yes, the sticker on the SSD is NOT supposed to be removed. That hurt to watch
@@kanishkachakraborty I slapped my keyboard and had to walk away for a sec

Omg i used to play on the exact same Alienware Pre-Build for years until i saved enough money to build my own gaming pc a year ago.
Gotta admit for being a Pre-build this old, it really survived for a very long time given that i play a lot. (had to replace the GPU to a 1050Ti after a while tho)
But jesus compared to what i play on now i cant even imagine how i survived on my old system that long.....
for comparison this is my new one:
GPU: Aorus RTX 2080 super (vertical Mounted)
CPU: Ryzen 7 3800x
Ram: 2 x 8 gig Corsair Vengeance LPX black
Motherboard: ROG-Strix B-550-F Gaming
PSU: Thermaltake ROME 750w 80 plus Gold
M.2 SSD: 970 Samsung EVO plus 1 TB
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2 TB
-----------
And on the side for the style:
Case: NZXT 710 Black
AIO: NZXT Z-73 Black
PSU Cables: Lian-Li Strimmer 24 Pin RGB Cables
Case Fans: Enermax RGB
So yeah the jump from my old to my new System was freaking HUGE.
BTW thx to Kyle without you i wouldnt have been able to build my PC like this
Apple: look how much I can ask just by a logo
Alienware: hold my proprietary MB
To be fair Alienware has become way more affordable about dell bought them.
“Not a gaming pc but you can game on it”
when he said that I expected integrated graphics or maybe like a 1650 but a 1660 ti isn’t bad at all
I also own a 1660ti but its a cheapass zotac edition i would die for the MSI card :(
@@randomaccountepix4481 bruh they're both 1660 ti's thats barely a improvement and any 1660 ti is a great card
Personally I would've put the SSD on the mount on the bottom right of the case (when looking in from the side with the TG) because the 870 EVO is a pretty minimalistic looking drive and also those weird looking screws for sliding the drive tray on give me ocd.
Lyle: screw with confidence.
Kyle, your "whoohoo" at 12:54 gives me life.
Kyle: "Not a gaming PC"
has a better GPU than my gaming rig...
And a ryzen 9
13:03 Guys, please don't do this. Except that you will be voiding your warranty, there is a possibility of you taking a memory module that is connected to the sticker off and so damaging your NVMe drive.
You know you’ve don’t this a million times when you start talking weird
It's nice seeing a normal build every once in a while, you know? I liked this. 2TB Gen 4 NVMe was a bit much, but he won't be running out of room any time soon I hope.
nice
Agreed

13:18 "what if one of the nand modules just popped of"
NO CRAP! I totally just built my new PC in that case... The front panel and the front grille took paint really well.
You made that look so easy I was straight on Amazon buying components..... then I realised, I don't know what I'm doing! 🤣🤣 Great video chap.

so I bought (and still have) a phanteks enthoo evolv case for my 6700k computer once upon a time. I wanted canada computers to install a h110i in the case, but they came back and said "it no fit"
What the hell you mean it don't fit? pc parts picker even says it fits. But whatever I just installed a h80i and dealt with thermal throttling for 2-3 years before I decided I would figure it out myself
Apparently the nice people at CC didn't bother to remove that sliding doodangle at the timestamp.
“These shouldn’t be here.” Very subtle desk mat plug Kyle.. lol
Kyle's uncle: Wait so I don't get a desk mat?
Had the exact same alienware pc. Only thing that broke in 7-8 years was the gpu. I swapped it for a gtx970 and upgraded to 12gb of ram. Ran every game just fine. It's a good pc
No camera man nothing can stop this man
Whenever I'm doing something whether it's working on cars, building PC's or even do simple things like the dishes I pretty much randomly talk to myself too. It's perfectly fine.
Why did you blur the label on the motherboard in the beginning but not 3:33?
Dude, Kyle hates screws. It's hilarious how comfortable.he is with hardware. I would be so anxious if I knew I only put half the screws on something.
One of my favourite hardware: "ATX 24-Pin Female to 24-Pin Male 90 Degree Adapter" - makes routing much easier. Others are the "other" 90 degree turns for most of the cables on the MB. =/
