  • @SebastianGonzalez1
    @SebastianGonzalez1 Год назад +45

    This is fantastic! Easily your best build yet. As others have said, the attention to detail is perfect. And it's amazing how similar this wood looks to Walnut.
    If I had one critique, it would be this: When you have mitered corners, they're an endgrain to endgrain connection. This is not the strongest, and can spread apart or come apart entirely with stress (like heat buildup). To account for this, what you can do is reinforce the miter somehow. Usually with a spline or two. This provides a face grain to face grain glue joint going through the miter, and significantly increases the strength. You could even use something like brass that has been scuffed up on its face (to provide grip for the glue) as a spline to keep with the aesthetic.
    Miter joint aside, this was truly great to watch.

    • @mxcbuilds6633
      @mxcbuilds6633  Год назад +11

      Thanks! Yes mitres are not the strongest type of joint. But for a case that's not bearing alot of load, it's been proven stable for me.

    I am overwhelmed and amazed at the beauty and complexity of your one of a kind PCs. The details and minutiae far exceed my days of tear-downs and upgrades of 386, 486, and early Pentium based PCs and at my age, this would be a project way beyond my knowledge and skills unless given a century to complete it. Outside if just rolling a PC into a bathroom shower, I would not know where to begin on constructing or modifying a water cooled system. It is crazy where technology has taken us and even more impressive are all of the skills you needed to complete this engineering work of art. Thank you so much for sharing the video. I can only hope to be as keen and diligent as you in my next lifetime!

    When I noticed the 2 glass sides I thought "ho no, there's for sure gonna be a cable nest box hidden somewhere", but nope, it's just planned so well the cables basically disappear !
    The industrial cable trays are really clean, tho there are perhaps a tad too many combs on the straight sections.

      Thanks! I tried to make the combs equally spaced in the bends and the straights, hence ending up with so many.

    Your cable tray design has inspired me to revamp my own build while waiting for my 4090 to arrive. The choice to not immediately route the cables out of sight and instead let them flow naturally to their final destinations makes palpable the power of these machines; similar feelings gotten when looking at a server with miles of organized cat6 coming out.
    I think im going to try to accomplish the same effect but with a inner spine and cable clips for ribs instead of the tray. If that fails I'll probably just do a backplate.
    Appreciate your appreciation for woodworking and detail.

      Thanks for watching, and I'm glad this build has inspired you! I definitely got my inspiration from working in a industrial factory environment with cables neatly routed along metal trays.

    I was just shaking my head all the video. Your skills are fantastic! According to your tools I assume that you do something with wood for living. I've always been interested in working with wood, but when I saw you, I thought to my self I still had a lot to learn. 😊

      Thanks! I slowly acquired the tools over multiple projects on this channel. If you go back to my first wooden PC build, you can see I only use very basic tools like a jig saw and cordless drill :))

    Great attention to detail on this build, really liked the cable management, very clean design. To avoid slight inaccuracies when you need to cut boards larger than your laser cutter consider using locating pins in the work piece. I find that works a treat.

    Those are some of the cleanest cable runs I have ever seen. My only complaint, the visible print lines. A smoothing process or resin printed parts would make it so much more pleasing to the eyes. But, I do love those custom cable holders.
