I know that feeling, of when you are trying to get something to work and it ends up being a your own fault. I have done that several times myself, few times it had me in a couple hours of a rabbit hole before noticing the obvious. Lol

Yesterday, I turned on my brand new 34" ultrawide monitor along with my rog2070super to be presented with a huge colour strip malfunction right through the center of the screen.
After a slight heart attack and a few tests it turns out it wasn't my monitor or GPU, but the display cable.
The relief you get from a problem being the cheapest and hassle free solution was satisfying.
My computer started randomly shutting down so i was panicking that it might be a bad PSU but i found out it was just a bad power button lol so i got so relieved
My pc was randomly rebooting. Turned out my sata cable had come loos somehow. Had a suspicious feeling it was the el cheepo psu but not even that
You had that feeling ,upon confirming it was the cable, of both completely a HUGE dump in the toilet long over due AND dodging a train sized bullet... That cool relaxing feeling in your belly and lungs immediately after gently flooding your body eh? xD
You have better luck than me lol. It seems like every time I have a problem it's always the most expensive / time consuming part that shits the bed.
The computer i built for my grandparents just wouldnt boot, i tried every possible part, switched and troubleshooted everything, then realized the ram wasnt in all the way. 😐

The thing us, all of us technicians have done the same exact stupid things. I remember one time I was checking a customer out after having fixed their computer, and the printer would NOT work to print out their invoice, I was like ....crap i think our printer died hold on...

@@ExarchGaming so much truth. Too many times I have gotten inside my PC for something and go to turn it back on to have nothing happen only to realize I never turned the PSU on. Or when I recently had to put in a new motherboard and my Corsair AIO was not showing up in icue. I forgot to plug it in to the commander pro.

I've spent hours before meddling through wires and checking connection's and so on and so fourth, only to find out I never had the strip on😂 I promise you I cried my self to sleep that night

@@Codexane you bet. I worked in a support center of an hospital, I the most complain I would get is that the printer isn't working. The first thing I always asked was "what does it says on the printer screen?" And most of the answer I get were "oh, the screen is off, maybe the printer is off!”. This was how I checked if the printer was on or off without asking them directly, so they wouldn't feel offended in case the printer was on.
Litterely did that on my first pc build. Made it all good and press the power and was like. Why. Why won’t you turn on Took me like 10 minuets of checking everything in the case. Then realised I was just stupid.

This brought me back to when I built my current rig. I went midrange on the budget, cutting corners on certain things (that I kinda regret now), but I got everything installed, cable-managed, was excited to turn it on, hit the power switch...nothing. You talk about my heart dropping like a rock. I checked to make sure all the cables were seated, everything was clipped in, and so on, but no power.
I started to spiral. Doubts flooded my mind. Was I really that bad at building a computer? Did I get a DOA PSU or MoBo? Was I cursed to use a 5 year old gaming rig that couldn't even play Borderlands 3 on low at 30 FP-
Oh hey, I plugged the front panel power switch into the wrong header! Swap that, and...Neat, booted up no problem, and there's POST!
4:05 When I worked in helpdesk, this would happen way more often than people might think. They would also get really pissed off when you ask them to verify the surge protector is on or there aren't any lose wires under their desk.
I like the way you were able to bring the power supply unit cable from the back to the front plugging it into the motherboard. I had trouble doing that with my power supply so I rang it through the front. I would like to share pictures, if possible to help organize the wires.
To his credit the power strip was blinking which for some brands means that it tripped the circuit and needed a reset.
That singing bit was actually really good.

Probably a short somewhere on the PCB of the card. I got a 580 off of eBay that was untested and wouldn't turn on. Turns out, some solder was shorting out a mosfet so I used a heat gun to remove it. The card worked fine once it was removed but the surrounding area is pretty messy as I didn't know how to use it properly. It could just be the cooler or something but at least you could get it replaced.
We've all had that "Oh, i forgot to turn the socket on" moment...hell, my last and current PC build I did exactly that for about 10 minutes, crapping myself wondering if my rather expensive new PSU was dead xD.
queue me trying to troubleshoot for three days on why my monitor wasn't receiving a signal, but it just turns out that the hdmi wasn't plugged into it

I'm not under the illusion that it's an excellent card, but I do like it, and seeing it in an ad on your channel makes me feel a tad better about my choice (and my budget).

Doom is often touted as the "Evil Hello World"; a reference to how it runs basically anywhere and everywhere. Using that, in this context, just made ALL the sense in the world and I love it.

When you realise that you have 2 brain cells
I knew that the initial issue was that something wasn't turned on. I initially thought the power supply switch, but then with a new power supply that you showed turning on I knew it was the power supply cable want recieving power from wherever you plugged it in.
Tells Joey about the Pains of early PC building only to realize the power to the surge protector was not turned on. Don't worry Kyle we've all been there. Freaking Hilarious & love the vids.

Did the same thing today, was at work, installed a new machine, wouldn't power up. Come to find out, the damn kill switch was flipped and I didn't even think about it, took the supervisor and install tech over an hour to figure that out after I left.

I also slapped in a graphics card for a friend's pc that stopped booting because the graphics card died. I took an identical card from my stock to replace it. Did that out of pocket because I felt bad that it was mostly my idea for her to use that graphics card to raise her performance level.
I got home from work today to find my brand new PC not booting. I put this video on for some background noise while I was going to try a PSU swap. I am running the exact same MOBO and graphics card. So before I got too out in the weeds with PSU, I swapped in my old Radeon RX 580 XFX card. Still did the same thing so I am now going to swap out the PSU with my old one that I know works. Wish me luck.
Ok, it is definitely the PSU. Going to swap it out now. Too bad all the good PSUs are sold out everywhere right now.
