Hope the middle part doesn't cause any concern. It was just an attempt to make something evocative with the footage I had. Obviously it's been a rough month, but I really am doing OK, all things considered!
Edit: Members, there's an alternate version you can watch. Same video, but with copywritten music. A couple tracks just "fit" and I was feeling artsy lol.

Just a word of caution, be careful with any of the electronics you took from the studio. We had a housefire a little over 7 years ago. Fortunately it was contained to the basement, but we couldn't live in the house for a year while it was being reno'd. My mother in law lives next door to us, so we stayed with her. My PC was upstairs so it wasn't destroyed in the fire. A few days after it happened, I was able to grab it. It worked for a week or so, then started tripping the breaker as soon as it was turned on. Turns out the smoke fried the PSU. With all the ash that was in your studio, I'd be leery of it. Best of luck to you man, we're all rooting for you.

      I fully second this!
A couple years ago, my cousin lost his home in a fire as well (Not from a CA wildfire). He went to work, left his laptop plugged into the wall, and the battery swelled and caught on fire.
*Technically* the only part of the house on fire was the front, but the entire house was ruined.
The smoke got into every crevice of the house and it was ruined, all ruined. There were some things that were already packed up on boxes, on the other side of the house, but even those things absolutely REEKED of smoke.
If there was anything that was even slightly exposed to smoke? Permanently covered in a bed of smoke and ash - from clothes laying on a bed, to in a closet or in drawers.
So yeah... Even when we read about how there are houses in California they have been "spared" from the fire? I just don't see how any of those houses aren't ruined by all of the smoke - it happened to my cousin's when it was just half of one house, let alone the staggering size and spread of the fires in LA.

@@griffhawkins8909 That's the truth. We had to wash all of our clothes and bedding with TSP, and it took multiple washes each load to finally get the smoke smell out. In our case, we had an old fridge in the basement for storage and the motor caught fire. Thank god we were home and it was around 7PM, so we were able to catch in time before the whole house went up. But it still destroyed the basement and we ended up having to replace the basement ceiling/floor of upstairs for my son's room since that's where the fire was centered. We had a Servpro type company, but not Servpro itself, clean everything. Insurance paid for that fortunately. And those companies are leaches, there were 3 different companies watching the firefighters put it out. They must have scanners and go as soon as they hear a fire called out. Felt like ambulance chasing lawyers.

Your videos on the fire and dealing with the loss of everything have really resonated with me. I went through a very similar situation myself back in 2019.
I was away on a business trip and woke up to a frantic call from my neighbor saying my house was on fire. I live by myself so the house was empty (I'm so thankful my dogs were with my brother at the time). They didn't know I was out of town and had been busting out windows trying to get inside. The fire started at 4am when no one was home and the sound of the flames eventually woke them up. At that point the house was completely engulfed. I live in rural Alaska, so by the time the fire department managed to get there it was a lost cause.
I'll never forget that morning as I scrambled to hastily work with my employer to get flights back home from Florida... and then just that mind-numbing fog that hung over my head the entire trip home as I ran from one airport to another, fielding phone calls from family and friends. Trying to make sense of all the chaos as it washed over me like a flood. There was nothing left. The fire had burned so hot that my car's aluminum engine block had melted to the concrete floor of the garage in a puddle. In the end, the root cause of the fire was never determined. There just wasn't anything left for the investigators to look at.
What really struck me is your reaction here when you pulled up to your house. It was almost exactly how I remember that first drive back when what remained of my house came into view. Just seeing nothing but a pile of burnt ash and debris where the house used to be. I stood there in the driveway just like you in muted silence trying to process it all for some time. It didn't feel real.
I wish you the best of luck with recovering from this. It took me 2 years to make myself whole again after I lost everything except for what I had in my suitcase for the business trip. Having family to rely on really helped me and I'm glad you have that same support. It really makes a big difference.
For everyone else watching this, I hope I can pass on some valuable lessons I learned to help someone else deal with such a life-changing event in the future.
    1. Take pictures of all your belongings in every single room of your house. Catalog all of your stuff and then store those photos off-site in some way or another. Having said photos will make itemizing your losses a lot easier with insurance so that you have proof of ownership should they try to fight you on something.
    2. Check your homeowners insurance policy and make sure there's no carve-outs for certain categories of belongs. In my case, State Farm had an exclusion for "auto parts" and what that ultimately meant was that the summer tires and OEM rims of my truck were not covered. I had Geico auto insurance and since the tires and rims were not on the truck (at the airport), they also did not cover the loss. So I ended up eating ~$6k for all of that in the end. Also make sure that you have addendums to cover unique things like a large stamp collection, or something else of high value that is not normally owned by an average person. Most insurance providers have such add-ons that can be added to your policy.
    3. Get a fireproof safe for your important documents. I was always skeptical of how well these work, but I was absolutely stunned that my cheap one from Walmart survived. And that meant all my docs like my birth certificate, passport, etc survived. Even with the fire burning hot enough to melt aluminum, that cheap little safe hung in there. It was literally the only thing I was able to recover from the remains of the house.
I wish you the best, Kyle. Keep being awesome and hang tough. It will take some time, but you will be made whole again.

The images of the devastation caused are very emotional. We didn't get to see specific roads and streets in the news coverage, here in the UK, just the birds eye view. This angle makes it a lot more personal and thought provoking. I'm so sorry you've had to go through this trauma mate. Sending you all the very best for getting your life and home back on an even keel as soon as humanly possible. There's a lot of love out there for you.

I am so sorry to hear about what happened to everyone in the fires, my deepest condolences to everyone who was involved.. I wish I could help those who been affected but sadly, being in a rough spot myself, I cannot.. I only wish for everyone to recover and slowly heal from the mental and physical wear of what happened, hang in there man.. you got this!
