It sucks to be required to stay informed on what the GG assholes are thinking about all the time. On Reddit and forums and stuff discussing Halo, I didn't see anything like what Ash is describing. Pierre Hintze, the man who "saved" Master Chief Collection and now studio head, has been in the spotlight for years now and I haven't seen anything racist or even negative about him. It's crazy that Twitter is now essentially 4chan-lite thanks to the blue checkmark. I just hope publishers don't start listening to these guys. I like Stellar Blade but some of the community for the game has become insufferable because of these "anti-woke" idiots. It seems like there is a whole other subset of stuff going on with the Korean community that I've noticed too.
I highly suggest the video series "Gacha Drama and the Korean Gender War" by Moon Channel to get a good explainer on what's happening in SK and the political history that has lead the South Korean version of |ncels. As you can imagine, it's the same flavor under a different name of the American grift machine we saw finally boil over back in '14. (A young generation of men dealing with late stage capitalism being told that all their problems are due to women wanting to be more independent.)
Off my chest is a great segment, please keep it. Maybe not too regularly, maybe like thrice a year kinda deal. I'm not usually into these kinds of discussions, its part of the reason I listen to video game podcasts in the first place, to get away from "the noise". Ive boycotted Twitter and yep, all of a sudden the noise of negativity had lessened dramatically. I have listened to this segment of the podcast a couple of times now. Tim Rogers absolutely PREACHING, but hes so very good at it. When Tim was expressing how video games are much more than just "fun", I was literally shouting hallelujah in my kitchen. So yeah, Tim is preaching to the chior, but i think its a healthy thing to do every now and then. Especially when so many of us stay quiet about these impossible issues. The panel is right, its not our JOB to fix these problems, but it's healthy to remind ourselves that we are not blind or stupid. Anyway, back to video games. Just booted up Neva and its such a delightful game to simply leave on my screen.
the off my chest segment hit as a trans person, especially not wanting to draw attention to the people making awful misinformation but wanting to debunk it simultaneously. i never want to drive attention towards transphobes but when their misinformation is so common i feel like i owe it to… something to try to debunk it. debating just creates more problems and it’s hard to know how to address it or if its even worth it. and i say this on a relatively small scale as a super tiny youtuber and an individual person dealing with my family in my personal life. after a certain point ive kind of given up because i can’t debate or logic these people out of positions they didn’t logic themselves into. and that itself is a tough choice to make
Y'all ever try getting Ross Scott from Accursed Farms to come on as a guest? He'd be fun, and his Stop Killing Games campaign would probably benefit from some extra attention
Hell yeah I'm paying for it. Worth every cent. I pay for the family plan and just give it away to my friends because I like them and want to have a better experience. Also > Green texting on RUclips
I really love having Ash on. She's got a good energy and she will promptly tell Tim "no".
this was one of my favorite ep.s yet. thanks for the mega edit, Esper
Loved the analysis/conversation in the Off My Chest section!! Insert Credit is very special also for these things! ❤
