YES! I love Chris Remo! Almost didn't recognize this video because it had the same pic he uses for all of his videos.
Holy shit chris remo still a thing. I used to watch his streams
From what I remember. The final Duke Nukem Forever was the project that 3D Realms was working on, but with George B removed from the existing team, so the extreme feature creep stopped. I don't think Gearbox did much actual design, maybe the multiplayer? They were just support mostly.
It definitely seems like the VR platforms are a little to focused on winning the initial purchase together a person trapped on their ecosystem. Why are all the biggest games we hear about only on one platform? Alyx, Arkham, Horizon, the Resident Evil conversions. This has kept me from buying in on any of them.
Probably the fact that the big games are being funded by the hardware guys.

happy holidays! directly tackled the topic of my opening daily routine of doing the wordle, connections, and crossword. lovely episode
thank you all as always for the great podcast, happy holidays!

Thank you! I made it!

53:49 the disclaimer is funny as hell. My answer to video game I like, that the greatest percentage of people who’ve played it do not like is JETT: The Far Shore.
Thank you for recontextualizing the question hole
how did ash not call Brandon on "show meat"
Frank told this (35:50) exact story about Phantasy Star III on the Sega Genesis in episode 99 of Insert Credit ( around minute 20:10) 10 years ago, (I just listened to 99 for the first time after this one today)
“omg it was the last of us part 2, go to hell” ash is hysterical bruh 😂😂

thanks as always!🎉

Is Tim Rogers no longer part of the podcast or is he just taking a break?
He left. Beefin' over creative differences...😔 He does his Action Button VODs on YT though from his Twitch streams.
They had a falling out after episode 360, and they explained in 361. It doesn't sound like he's coming back.
@@princepjohnson action button updates really infrequently though. It's been a couple of years since his Boku nstsu video.
@@TheSPY1997 Yeah, he's still making content though. His VODs are entertaining and FULLY Tim Rogers style. Awkward as hell, but entertaining and genuine. Still one of the best. He discusses more than just games.
@@TheSPY1997 streams twice a week
"Field Full of Titties: The John Brown Story" is a real Super Best Friend Cast / Castle Superbeast podcast title joke.
yall have always been funny but the jokes were absolutely on point today 😭😭
The Switch hardware doing the "click" sound on console or game boot up has to be the biggest case of the Mandela effect in recent years. It doesn't happen! :D great pod as always
This is a long story for YT comment, but I wanted to take a moment to share my appreciation for what you guys do. A few years ago, I went through a very rough patch in my life. I could barely eat or sleep for about year because of these events. When I would sleep, I'd wake up from nightmares and dread. I started listening to YT at night and found that, as long as some kind of podcast was playing, I could sleep. I would wake up when the podcasts stopped, I'd put something else on, and then I could sleep again. Prior to these events I had been aware of Insert Credit, and enjoyed it on a few occasions, but I wasn't a regular listener. This may sound silly, but I have a hard time getting into gaming podcasts because I still long for the podcasts of yore (1up Yours, CGW/GFW and the other 1up podcasts, and, later, Easy Allies before so many left). I have a few gaming podcasts in my YT subs that "I'll get to one day," but I never really listen to. Insert Credit was one of those. I clicked on Insert Credit one night, needing something to listen to, something "talky." The panel's sense of humor clicked with me right away. Jaffe's questions and the ensuing discussion were interesting and engaging. I listened and was entertained, and then your soothing voices lulled me off to sleep. Insert Credit quickly became my go to to sleep. It wasn't "so boring I was lulled off to sleep!" but rather, "I could escape from what was going on around me for a bit and relax and fall asleep." I would listen every night for as long as I could, and then the next time I turned an episode on I would skip back to the last thing I could remember so I could hear more. In this way an episode would usually last me half a week. The rest of the week I would listen to old episodes. This grief chapter in my life has been over for a few years now. I've been listening during the day like a normal weirdo for a long time. You guys mean a lot to me, more than you will ever know, because of everything going on in my life at that time. I'm writing this comment now because, when Tim left, it kinda got to me. I haven't listened to past episode 359 because I guess I don't want to accept that my favorite podcast is different now. Today, while watching something unrelated, YT decided my next video should be Insert Credit 367. I almost turned it off, but I didn't, and as soon as I heard that familiar music my everyone's voices, I started smiling. It's good to be back, I've missed listening to you guys. edit: and HOLY SHIT YOU GUYS STARTED DOING VIDEO (of yourselves)? I LOVE IT! The fact that we never get to see you guys has always been my only complaint (not to detract from the wonderful video clips edited in by Esper. That has been such a lovely addition to the podcast but its also nice to see you guys talk sometimes!)
this was lovely to read and very kind of you to say!! i am glad we could help with your journey, glad you're giving the show another go, and always glad when someone enjoys what we do. keep it up!! -esper
games don’t have to be INTERNALLY political, which i think is the real question that frank and ash ended up answering. when it comes to video games in the context of the world, as products, as art like any art, i think the answer is obvious. any game that has the opportunity to actually get made always carries implicit assumptions from the people who made it. there are identifiable material, ideological, and structural reasons why some games get to be made and not others, why some PEOPLE get to make games and not others, what resources are available to make a given game, why games look a certain way and not other ways, why the story of any given game is the way it is, etc
@@MatthewDevil yah, I feel like even the most apolitical game comes from a person and circumstances that are inherently political -- it's the privilege to make a weird lil thing, access to education and materials, the ability to turn a blind eye to politics at large even.
wait i wanna hear Frank's pitch story
Yeah! I need to know's Frank's past with the Big Ariana.
actually a bit of that segment gets clipped from the youtube version of the show, because automated copyprotection did not like that i used footage of the nickelodeon show sam n kat -_- big apologies for this, you can hear the full (or at least, more of the) story at our website!! insertcredit.com/show/367 -esper

Thanks as always everybody, always an enjoyable watch🎉
Seeing as the creation and playing of video games require hardware that is often produced via strip mining resources from historically oppressed and colonised nations, particularly in Africa, and is then manufactured via cheap labour by exploited workers throughout Asia in order to turn large US and European tech companies absurdly large profits, then yes I'd say that video games are inherently political whether we like it or not.

I'm actually shocked that Brandon doesn't like Balatro. It's very good in my opinion - literally game of the year good.

Unfortunately, "Xbox Live" no longer exists. They changed the name to "Xbox network" with lowercase n like a year ago. Another brilliant marketing decision.
Thank you Ash for forcing MTG on the squad 🤗
13:27 “Question Clarified” love this so much 😂. Thank you Esper for going the extra mile
Everyone is, of course, valid in not liking a piece of media. I really dislike when people police me with how I should be positive about everything. I just want to say- Sublime was singing about the rise of fascist authoritarianism in the early 90s, and those bass licks are solid. If you Hate Sublime, you might just hate the bro culture that appropriated their songs or mayhaps a particular part of your life.
