  • I LOVE teaching people the basics of using Photoshop, because I know it can be overwhelming, and sometimes feel like if you don't know allllllll the ins-and-outs of Photoshop, that you'll never get the hang of it!
    But that's just not true! What's most important is one key, fundamental skill: masking!
    Almost everything in Photoshop comes back to masking, and being able to apply changes and effects to your image using masks means your edits are non-destructive. Aka., you can return to your photo and change your edits really easily, even if it's a week, a month, or a year later!
    in this video, I'll show you three of the most important tools in Photoshop:
    ✅ Adobe Camera Raw
    ✅Masking layers
    ✅ and Adjustment Layers.... plus, as a bonus, my favourite favourite adjustment layer in PS. 😱

    Your light analogy is great way to explain masking. It makes so much more since to me now.

      YESSSS So happy!!! I love analogies to help clarify concepts and this is my favourite one for Photoshop's black/white masking thing so far. Glad it helped you!

    Wow! That is how to teach how to work with masks in Photoshop. Amazing explanation! I love that you took the time to really guide on every step. But for me I really loved the tip on open image from Lightroom or Camera raw as smart object.... that was a moment of light for me! Thank you so much! Your photos looks amazing also!

    I love the way you explain everything. It makes it more easy to understand and remember (light on/off). I'm a lightroom user and use masks a lot to do kind of the same thing. Now I'm a little confused if I should start using PS (I always thought PS is overwhelming). What's your opinion on why using PS on editing instead of LR?

    Woooow, I have just watched a few of your films, but your tips and lessons are so... understandable! I have never understood why so many photographers use masking, and now you just made it so simple! I can see even without trying why this is so much better than editing in Lightroom. Thank you for this, I am so going to watch your other movies (if my ADHD lets me not to forget about it :D). Thank you very much! I feel I am going to have so much fun with those layers now and with Photoshop itself! :)

      I'm so sorry it took me THREE MONTHS to reply to your lovely comment (note to self: get on RUclips more!! But also... ADHD. Can relate.) but I LOVE hearing this! I love being able to take what people often have as a big scary concept and make it understandable! How did you go with Photoshop after you tried them??

      Woo hoo!!! Love to hear it!!! Let me know how you go once you’ve had a play around with it. For me, I found it really confusing at first but once it clicked, it clicked. Hoping you have some success!

    I’m just getting started in dog photography. Done a few shoots so far, but I always shoot in manual. Wondering whether you shoot in aperture priority? Get the full spectrum and no big blown out sky’s has been my biggest issue. And vibrance in my raw files are very low.

    • @InspawrationPhotography
      @InspawrationPhotography  Год назад

      Nope I definitely shoot in manual always. Lots more control that way. I tend to expose for highlights, which does mean I underexpose in situations with a sky or backlight behind the dog. Of course if you’re shooting with a bright sky, or your camera doesn’t handle underexposing then this might not be possible. Raw files are always going to be more grey and flat, they’re supposed to be edited 😊 you can easily add more contrast and vibrance while editing
