    Thanks Jess! I've been looking for a better way to mask dog hair other than manually brushing a mask and using my custom hair brush for masking! This will knock off a lot of time in doing this!

    I have a vizsla (in my profile) and was very happy when you mentioned the breed😂 and yes it is incredibly easy to mask vizslas, or just shorthaired dogs on general so I never really watched this video. However, now that I have, it will cut out a huge chunk of my masking process since ive been manually masking all over the dog so just using a brush. I'll try the select subject trick tomorrow. Thank you for all your helpful videos🥰❤

    Thanks Jess Awesoe video and I go back and refer from time to time. Lost me at 11:30 though with the bit about "splitting off the layer into two sections". Is this in another video or have I missed something? I've done a few long haired German Shepherds and masking is a nightmare. Cheers

    Thank you for sharing this tutorial - it is a great update to some other outstanding videos on the subject of hair masking - they are done with older versions of PS, but the techniques work. If you are interested in checking those out, please let me know. Anyway - my question for you is - what do you mean by "movable color" layer?

    • @ThatPhotographySpot
      @ThatPhotographySpot  4 года назад +1

      Just break it down, take your time and try not to get frustrated. If it's not working for one image, set that one to a side and try a different image. Sometimes it just doesn't work great with Pippi on a warm background (orange and orange) or Alf on a dark background (black and black) but practice makes perfect.
      I should've been a bit more careful on this video - it was messy mask but hopefully the principles were clear!

    I would like to know to to mask the fur on white dog (samoyed) with bright backround like the sky, it is almost impossible, because there is no contrast and photoshop doesn't recognize it as something separate :( I have been trying for really long time without success, do you have a tip maybe? Thank you for all your tutorials

    • @ThatPhotographySpot
      @ThatPhotographySpot  4 года назад +1

      This is such a tough one 😣 it depends on just how similar the two are, the sky and the Samoyed coat. You could add a high contrast layer over the top of the background layer, such as a very harsh levels adjustment to try to separate the two out, or use a colour layer to maximise any difference in colours/tones (probably cyans in the sky and yellows in the coat?), and then mask off of a “substitute layer” that you could make from that adjustment choice, then delete the adjustment/contrast-making layer when you’re finished masking, and save the mask onto a different layer? That’s potentially an option to try 🤷‍♀️

    Reallly good video!! :-)
    But can I ask you something? I have photoshop 2020, but in it I don't have this tool, brush with a hadn in. So, can I ask if there's another way to do that? Or if i must just do some "clicks" and I will have it here?
    Thank you. :-)

      Hey there! You have to be in the "Select and Mask" dialogue window to see the tools on the left hand side. If you go to Select -> Select and Mask in the menu at the top, you should see the tool on the left of the window that pops up?

    Hello, I've watched this video over and over, the part that is meant to be fine tuning it but it's just adding more white to it, I've got the brush on Overlay, opacity is low, the dog is all white, screen is back, everything is the same basically but it's not fine tuning the image for me at all. Just wondering if you may know what is causing this and if there is something I maybe doing wrong 😅
