I can’t express to you how grateful I am for your video on this issue! I moved my 2020 F350 into the driveway (literally pulled forward about 20’) to mow grass. That was it…wouldn’t crank or start and displaying the wonderful fault warning just like your customers. Not a mechanic, and couldn’t get it to one or dealer without a massive charges. After watching your video called local dealer bought the part. Following your awesome directions, changed that BJB myself and…BANG! Success!!! Part cost me $360 and the best, install was free! 😂 subscribed and will continue to follow! Thanks again!!!
I'm the head tech for a large landscaping company and this keeps happening to all our new trucks. Takes like 4 weeks to get back from dealership every time we bring one and it keeps happening. Dealing with one doing the same thing it was brought in for after just getting g back yesterday!! Keeps throwing alarm codes and locking the system so no crank no start. Someone please help 750k in new trucks in the last 3 years and we start having g issues at 30k miles on almost every one. Ford is really slipping
I had one a month ago same problem as yours has power on the hot at all times side on the ecm relay but the relay is internally so I couldn’t test it and no power going into ecm I blew out the bjb and let it dry and it fired up the following day . Good to know that’s separate now I’m gonna get that replaced on our fleet truck
Having this same problem with a 2020 6.7 at the shop. I noticed that there was low power at the ignition fuse. Suspected corrosion just didn’t know where. Glad I found this video. Gonna take apart the BJB and check it out.
I'm going to pull mine to verify, but I think you just saved me looking at a PCM. One of the feet is broken on the BJB. I washed my engine bay and immediately had several pcm codes. I didn’t notice much of anything with regards to drivability, but the AC wouldn’t work.
My 2021 was parked outside in the rain. I installed lights and the wires went into the fuse panel. wires made re-seating the fuse lid a problem. 7am and the horn started to make very light, low grumbling noises - as if electrons were jumping into them... Horns were going full blast/solid by the time I was suited up and out under the hood. Pulled fuse 11 - horn, and went to work. Next day, no start condition. My fuse panel looks identical to the 2020 one in your video, and I bet that those scoundrels didn't bother to redesign things to avoid this problem - they'll just boost inventory of replacement panels! I will take the original fuse block in and purchase a spare - I could change it in the field in a pinch - a $250 module is about the same as a $250 tow, but my truck stays off the hook, and I can fix it faster than a tow truck can get there in most cases - I must call a commercial truck due to weight. Thank you, Ford. Thank you PSTTwAr for helping me!
Does ford have a contact cleaner or something like Deoxit ? I think you got to this one before the plug got to bad. I just deal with a lot of green crusty connector killers. Trucks run the beach all year, the salt will eat everything not protected.
Yep my 2017 gas had to have the wiring harness replaced due to this box at least the harness doesn’t have to be replaced now. Good to know if my 2020 has this issue
My 2020 f250 6.7 is in the shop now. First symptom i had was i was going to the store and took my key out to turn the truck off, and the truck was still running. Took like 5 minutes to finally let the truck engine turn off. 2 weeks later, check engine light came on after the same thing happened. Threw a P0685 OBDII code. Cleared the code to see if it would happen again. Last week, wrench light came on and said Powertrain Malfunction/Power Reduced along with alot of other lights like hill descent control disabled, etc. Took it to the shop where it is now and just received a call that it was the Battery Junction Box that got water in it. Im guessing they saw the TSB from Ford about this. So im hoping they get it fixed really quick to see if it resolves it. The only modifications i have that would have left that box not closed properly would of been Airbags install and my aftermarket Morimoto headlights. So im hoping someone didnt leave the box not sealed. Dealership told me that warranty should cover it all since i only have 26k miles. Fingers crossed i dont have to pay anything and that it is resolved.
I have the same issue on a 2017. If I wait, it will eventually start, but I'm sure my luck will run out at some point. How do I get it diagnosed if it is not actively faulting? I've got an Allstate warranty that would cover it, but there has to be a positive diagnosis. Great information. Thank you!
Great repair video. Good to hear you mention how little time your given for towing an 8000 lb truck inside , diagnostic and repair. To add insult to injury you probably had to spend another hour because you were given the wrong BJB, It’s no wonder the best techs often leave the dealership world and it’s so hard to get decent warranty work ,when Ford won’t compensate the dealership fairly.. I love dielectric grease, was great to see you steer it in the connectors. My OCD was kicking in looking at that spaghetti of aftermarket wiring .... you’d never see that under my hood,I hope that wasn’t done by the “professional “ plow installer..😳
wow.....my 2020 F250 just did this last week. I jumped the 20amp EMC or whatever fuse to the battery and got it started. warranty is going to cover it except for 200 bucks....but yep had this issue with 41k miles on truck
I had the same situation when buying a power running board motor for a 2011 f150. Purchased the skp brand from 3 separate parts suppliers and All 3 times I got a passenger side running board motor that was in a box that had the drivers side running board motor part number. They must have shipped God knows how many parts that were in the wrong box. This was a First for me.
My truck is down right now, exact same symptoms. Morimoto headlights instructions had me tap off 16, fuses were too big to shut, I broke a tab before I realized. Tried to modify the cover. My guess it didn't work, fuse panel is very dirty. Find another fuse for your headlights in the passenger compartment where it is dry.
Good job Arod, I was having same issue last week I just replaced this part, after done installing it when to turn the ignition switch on all info shows back on mileage, gauge working etc. but when turn over the key it just keeps tuning over but not starting at all, i went and check all connections again and everything seems to be fine, dashboard shows reduced engine power. Any idea or hel will be appreciate it. Thanks
I have been having this issue about 40 percent of the time on my 2017 F350 dually with 20k miles Went hunting came from woods to truck, truck would not do anything! Called a buddy who came while i tried to start i had him wiggle jiggle all fuses and relays. Well when he pushed on the Start/Run relay truck started drove it home. When home i shut truck off no start again! Pulled relay number 29 and center probe was green looking. Ordered new relay cleaned old one until new one arrived when i put old one back still no start . Well relay beside it for rear window defroster and heated mirrors is same part number so i swapped them. No More Starting Problems since, this is an electrical problem which Ford seems not to be able to find. I am not the only one having these issues So Ford Step Up
They just returned it to me after replacing the catalytic converter and the crank sensor. Time will tell if it is actually repaired but I did check the fuse box cover and while the top of it has water/debri residue it is seated properly.. I’ll remove the cover and check the top of the assembly to see if it looks like the one in this video.
Excellent information and thanks for explaining the A & B boxes and how they differ. I probably would have made the same mistake as you initially did. It will be first for me too by the way. Good luck to me.
Awesome, just can't figure out why you can't set your idle with the cruise control system like you can on the Rams? With the Cummins in the ram you can set your idle and then adjust it up or down to pretty much any rpm you want.
buddy watt do you think or know about onbord cleaning of egr with bleupoint eedf400 or motorvac cleeners ,will it plug my exaust ,and if it does will i have to do a regular dpf cleening ,thank for you response
I would never make money doing what you do I would be there fixing the rat nest of wires to make them look factory b4 i even got to the real job at hand lol . Good video brotha
That time is crazy! 35 minutes to diagnose and fix that!? Ford wanted 1.5 hours to service my f250 transmission and I did it in 45 minutes easily! The book times on warranty stuff is ridiculous. It kinda looks like you don't have to remove the battery but it would be close.
Thank you I bought 2021 f250 from auction it’s flood truck I change all the module that need to be changed and I only have one key. I change the PCM and I need some help what to do next nothing going on in on a dashboard, the water wash high under the steering wheel.
Did moisture get in the junction box? We have that happen a lot on semi trucks I work on and problem is moisture getting in the junction box. Edit....You answered my question
Hey Cuz, OK So how come the new (correct part) does not have the 2 fuses in the lower left hand corner. So does the Tech get a rate adjustment because the part was boxed wrong? Does the Tech more time because of all that BS plow wiring. Is it still under warranty after realizing that someone didn't replace the cover on the battery distribution box ? BTW great job on your involvement on this truck
2020 f350 pos ford has had 5 of those boxes in 35000 miles I have had the truck since 32000 miles its been to 3 dealerships and 29 days in the ford shops
Lol I’m worried about my two ( which one of two yellow/green wires issue) on a high idle upfitter job and I tune in and you are into a gutted out bowl of spaghetti wiring. I bet your arm pit temp dropped 30 degrees when key on it fired. Good job 👍 I’ll be the same if I get a 1200 idle up to work.
Does this come with a new fuse box cover? I just had this done and it’s looking like if it comes with a new cover, they never replaced it but charged me for it.
Howdy!!! Quick question.... on my 2020 F-450 Platinum, about 4500 miles, when I’m on the highway for a while & then get off the ramp the ole transmission downshifts way too hard, it’s just 1 single bang & this is the only conditions it does it under.... any thoughts? Recalibration maybe? No leaks/no lights on dash/no modifications & shifts fine else where. 💥
Could I get your option . 2011 6.7 it may have been a bit down on power. It made a pop sound then quit. Will not start. Scanned it only making 1200 psi of fuel cranking. Is the cp4 junk?
How often have you dealt with this on the 11-16 models? I had this happen to my 14. I think it was just a broken wire in the BJB, but would like to know what the exact fix was. The tech wouldn't really tell me much about the fix.
Good work there Arod. Definitely frustrating getting the wrong part in the box! Btw, is electrical grease mainly to repel water from the contacts or is there other reasons for it? Thx!
I had a customer's Excursion that had a parasitic draw so bad that batteries would be dead in a day and a half. Ended up being a leaking replaced windshield that allowed water down the inside of the A-pillar and drip on the backside of the fuse block under the dash behind the lower cover. Pulled it out and apart and it was all green at the plugs. No longer available so I found a company in PA that refurbed it for around $450. Problem solved. Water can wreak havoc for sure.
Hi ARod, Thanks for the great video. I have a similar issue on a '21 6.7 F450. No crank, no start, but lights on dash. Batteries were toast, so I replaced both. Able to communicate with all modules, no codes of significance. I have 12 Volts at the post of the BJB, but none of the fuses that I can test have power. Ordered a new unit, but won't be in until Tuesday. Replaced BJB with known good unit from another '21. Exact same symptoms. Still have 12v at the post, but nothing from the fuses. Any guidance on what to check next would be much appreciated. These BJBs are labeled "scrap if dropped", but they could have left out the last two words.
IT was like watching surgery on my bb. Thanks again for getting me on the road and up and going again!automatically I also have done two things since this video was filmed. Detail the shit outta the interior. Wash the hell on the exterior. She's usually not that dirty of a girl. next step clean the rats nest. Thanks ARod!
Did you install your own plow and salt box? The guys that installed my plow put in a whole separate box instead of running all the wiring to the battery like that,
Good video but how about the same problem that the 2011- 2016 superdutys. I had the same problem had it towed to the dealer. And it started, a month later it happened again, but before calling a tow truck. I googled this problem and found if u pushing the emergency brake down then released and she started. Why is Ford not talking about this. Thanks ARod
Can this issue occur in 19s????? I have the same issue but intermittent, 10k miles but just started occuring recently. Sometimes starts as normal and other times it's no crank no start, but after cycling on and off a few times it starts. Brought it to the dealer once already and they just put dialectic grease on the pcm connectors but it hasn't solved the problem. Any ideas?????? 😬🤞
What ended up being your issue? Mine is a 2019 and is doing what yours did. Dealership is saying an issue with the wiring harness to the battery junction box.
I have a 2016 F450 Chassis cab that the batteries just suddenly go dead every couple of months I switch them with ones off the trickle charger and good as new. A couple months later same problem switch the batteries and put on trickle charger again Im good to go. Possibly same problem?
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod Thanks not sure it makes a difference but the driver battery is dead as a doornail but the passenger side according to trickle charger is 80% charged.
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod Still not sure what's going on I give up. batteries were dead as a door nail again yesterday. Taking the truck to the diesel shop tomorrow and basically told them I'll take the bill for what the bill is but I NEED IT FIXED!
I just got my ecm reinstalled after a bench flash and it is doing exactly this. How can I diagnose this? My tool will not read connect to vehicle so it’s not reading ecm just like this one. It appears to be the exact problem except I seen no signs of moisture and lid was tight. How can I diagnose before spending 350 on new one.
My truck will occasionally have an intermittent start where I can hear a relay click when I turn the key to start, a brief pause (sometimes need to cycle the key again) then it cranks. After I have this problem I have Service AdvanceTrac, Hill Decent Control Fault, Hill Start Assist Not Available, Pre-Collision Assist Not Available, as well as drive mode won’t work, back up camera lines that move with the steering won’t work… got to be the ECM not powering up properly…idk. Think this may fix it?
Hi I have a 2019 F250 6.7. recently we had some really cold weather in the negative numbers. After turning it over for a few Sec I realized its just to cold and don't have a block heater. Since that day my truck will start in the morning but after I go somewhere and literally come out of the store 5 min later, the truck won't crank. Once I hook up jump cables from another car, it starts. I have 2 new batteries and a new started. Could it be a starter relay or the whole fuse box like this video. Thanks
Holy. I'm the eighteenth commenter!!! Funny to see this video. We just has a 2020 F-250 gasser that did the exact same thing (no crank no start) about three weeks ago. This was a brand new unit too. This makes me a little worried about our trucks. I'm wondering if that BJB isn't located in a bad spot, and what you and I can do proactively to prevent this happening to our trucks.
No doubt it's in a bad spot. I'd probably pop it apart and hit the terminals/plugs with dielectric grease and reassemble making sure the lid is latched. Maybe give it a spray of some HD Silicone Spray inside and out for a little water dispersion just in case.
I have a 08 super duty in the shop right now supposedly it’s the instrument panel it’s not responding it was a theft code do you know anything on this? Waiting for it to be towed to the Ford dealership
I kind of hate the whole time thing, especially warranty time. Warrant time is always short changing you. I have no idea how they come up with those times, it isn’t from actually doing the job at timing it, can’t be.
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod Same here. Being a diesel mechanic on Mostly medium duty trucks I get paid by the hour but they still keep and eye on the time. Of course they don’t say too much when you figure ways to do big jobs in under half the time. Just seems like a broken system to me. I’m just glad I don’t work on cars getting paid book time.
@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod thank you for the reply. I am looking to purchase a 2018 6.7 but it has a no crank no start issue after it was in a minor accident. I am trying to do my research on things to look for before I goband check it out. Any symptoms yoi recommend I should look for? BTW I am going to subscribe to your channel for future references
Just had this done at local dealer on 2020 F250 7.3. Now having issues, only while driving in rain. I'll shut the truck off and it won't start back up. There is no power what so ever. I was able to use the remote start once and the last time I had to pop off the negative battery cables.
The symptom the first time was the truck would not shut off and stuff on the gauge cluster was going crazy like in your video. This symptom is different. Not sure what to do. The dealerships are three weeks out on service
Did Ford cover this or did they try to weasel out of this repair. Also if the customer had to pay out of pocket, what would the repair have cost? Thanks, be careful and stay safe 😀
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod surprised it was covered really since it is self inflicted from an improperly installed cover. Good for your dealer writing it up like they did to keep a happy Ford owner.
You can accomplish more with one hand then I can with both of mine. Sure wish you were closer. Our local Ford diesel mechanic is PATHETIC. I always find something not connected or the last time the air filter was not installed correctly. That was when he was correcting a previous FU
I had this same exact thing done to my 2020 a few weeks back, and the other day, I was driving and hit a decent size water hole at 50mph, and my check engine light/wrench came on put into limp mode. The next day, it started up i shut off then it wouldn't start again, so I unhooked the batteries for about 30 minutes started up. Idk what's going on. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Dealer ship had it 2 times now for the issue
Rats nest! There’s no way I would accept work like that from an installer. Doesn’t Ford have upfitter power and ground connections so you don’t have to go directly to the battery?

@@dieselfixr definitely not what I'd expect under the hood of a brand new truck. Lol
Uhh yeahh what a rats nest
Does this come with a new fuse box cover? I just had this done and it’s looking like if it comes with a new cover, they never replaced it but charged me for it.
Nope sure doesn't
Good information! Thanks for making the video!
Tcm update coming early march
So is the GAE for Gas trucks, and DAE for Diesel trucks?

Do the 7.3 gas super duty have the same problem or is it mostly 6.7
Both
Could I get your option . 2011 6.7 it may have been a bit down on power. It made a pop sound then quit. Will not start. Scanned it only making 1200 psi of fuel cranking. Is the cp4 junk?
I don't know, im not there
How often have you dealt with this on the 11-16 models? I had this happen to my 14. I think it was just a broken wire in the BJB, but would like to know what the exact fix was. The tech wouldn't really tell me much about the fix.
Not very often at all..
Good work there Arod. Definitely frustrating getting the wrong part in the box! Btw, is electrical grease mainly to repel water from the contacts or is there other reasons for it? Thx!
Yepp & to promote good connections
So do you order all yours own parts? Thru the online catalog
Yep
Who makes those 1/4 deep swivel sockets you use?
Blue power, from cornwell
I had a customer's Excursion that had a parasitic draw so bad that batteries would be dead in a day and a half. Ended up being a leaking replaced windshield that allowed water down the inside of the A-pillar and drip on the backside of the fuse block under the dash behind the lower cover. Pulled it out and apart and it was all green at the plugs. No longer available so I found a company in PA that refurbed it for around $450. Problem solved. Water can wreak havoc for sure.
Gosh i member them dayzzz
Thank you!! My problem exactly! Subscribed!
I'd have 2 put the computer on it
Wow that was great! Hope nothing like that happens to my 14, yikes!
Excellent work bud...And yea I know what you mean boxed wrong parts would tell me...
And who pays for the wasted time,I tell you...:(
IT was like watching surgery on my bb. Thanks again for getting me on the road and up and going again!automatically
I also have done two things since this video was filmed. Detail the shit outta the interior. Wash the hell on the exterior. She's usually not that dirty of a girl. next step clean the rats nest. Thanks ARod!
I GOT YOU BROSKI, THANKS FOR FINDING UR NEW DEALER!!! TELL UR BOYZZ!😉😉
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod 10000%
Did you install your own plow and salt box? The guys that installed my plow put in a whole separate box instead of running all the wiring to the battery like that,
Some r like that, some are not
Good video but how about the same problem that the 2011- 2016 superdutys. I had the same problem had it towed to the dealer. And it started, a month later it happened again, but before calling a tow truck. I googled this problem and found if u pushing the emergency brake down then released and she started. Why is Ford not talking about this. Thanks ARod
I have NEVER HEARD IF THIS!!!
You are a savior!!! Thank you sir
No, thats only for 2020s......
What ended up being your issue? Mine is a 2019 and is doing what yours did. Dealership is saying an issue with the wiring harness to the battery junction box.
Right on again! Thanks for sharing!
Great info for future when they come off warranty
I have a 2016 F450 Chassis cab that the batteries just suddenly go dead every couple of months I switch them with ones off the trickle charger and good as new. A couple months later same problem switch the batteries and put on trickle charger again Im good to go. Possibly same problem?
Maybe let me check it out
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod Thanks not sure it makes a difference but the driver battery is dead as a doornail but the passenger side according to trickle charger is 80% charged.
Hmmm
Think this may fix it?
...I dunno what your workin on.

Thanks

Badass solve bro
Is 19 the same? Thanks
Um no
Can you please give me the part number for this . My 2020 F-450 is having this issue . Thanks
I show you, you must 1st watch thee whole video...
Gosh i know brother..
Yepp have donw that and pcms. Get ready to wait my friend back order. Hope its stock too or ur really up shits creek
My 2022 is at the dealership, they replaced the ecm, no luck. Looking for a loose wire under the dash currently😒
For......?
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod Codes pointed towards low fuel pressure. Ended up being broken wires underneath the dash.
Whaaaa
Nothing yet on my 20. Fingers crossed
Thats awesome buddy
I kind of hate the whole time thing, especially warranty time. Warrant time is always short changing you. I have no idea how they come up with those times, it isn’t from actually doing the job at timing it, can’t be.
Brother, its a battle i fight ALL the time....😔 guess what, don't get paid to do that either. I pout & move on....
💯💯
If they wouldn’t put it in the engine compartment they wouldn’t have this problem in the first place 🤦🏻♂️
im looking for same part on 2020 F350 and can’t find anywhere, can you plz give me some info where to check…
Ford dealership only
is this a common issue in all years with the 6.7? i saw a 2012 with no crank no start forsale. may be an easy fix

Is this problem only for 2020's?
Well, it could happen to any year of the super duties, but it's not gonna be replaced like you saw in this video. That's twenty twenty plus vehicles
@rogersaenz939 I'd be bringing a scan tool for sure. One that can access other modules
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod will do thanks again! 👍🏻
Oooooooof. That spot is my goto spot for those concerns
Good luck 👍
Does anyone have the actual part number for the correct fuse pannel?
...did u not watch the video
Did Ford cover this or did they try to weasel out of this repair. Also if the customer had to pay out of pocket, what would the repair have cost?
Thanks, be careful and stay safe 😀
Warranty pal, 3/36....
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod surprised it was covered really since it is self inflicted from an improperly installed cover. Good for your dealer writing it up like they did to keep a happy Ford owner.

@mtsanchez27 yup
You can accomplish more with one hand then I can with both of mine. Sure wish you were closer. Our local Ford diesel mechanic is PATHETIC. I always find something not connected or the last time the air filter was not installed correctly. That was when he was correcting a previous FU
Christ, bring dat boy over

A great job
I had this same exact thing done to my 2020 a few weeks back, and the other day, I was driving and hit a decent size water hole at 50mph, and my check engine light/wrench came on put into limp mode. The next day, it started up i shut off then it wouldn't start again, so I unhooked the batteries for about 30 minutes started up. Idk what's going on. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Dealer ship had it 2 times now for the issue
Did they replace it. You shld watch our video we did a few weeks ago
Rats nest! There’s no way I would accept work like that from an installer. Doesn’t Ford have upfitter power and ground connections so you don’t have to go directly to the battery?
Yes sir
Well Done

With the remote start, yes. Normally with the key, than you got a problem....
