This is a perfect example of understanding how the system works and fixing it. If you understand the circuit and how it works you can troubleshoot and fix it. Nice job sir.
Yep after many many hours of troubleshooting this fixed my 2015. Literally had the exact same issue. My White wire was broken to the PCM. Thanks so much for the info!
Great video! I got a truck I’ve been diagnosing for a week and it’s the same problem like the truck in the video! It’s good to repair the wires sometimes better to replace the whole wiring harness
no prndl off the rip , I recently had a tough '17 doing so many odd things I had to make sure the customers checks would cash LOL. Thanks for sharing your work! Its always a great feeling to get that money shot! W/LB .
Good job. Ive had to find a couple different things like that on my 2011. 352,000 miles though and still pulls like a beast daily! 2011 F-350 king ranch srw, deleted and tuned. Its a pain in the ass but i cant complain. Iif you could see the look on the gm and Cummins guys face when they ride in one with 20,000# behind it!😮 Its priceless!
Wow, awesome diagnostic abilities. I need you to move to Utah now. One of my PS's is at the dealer and the first $750 didn't fix it. I'm pretty sure they are getting ready to take me down their replace-everything-one-after-another-til-the-light-stays-off road. Dealer mechanics don't seem to have any incentive to get it right the first time.
Sorry to hear that, Imo the dealer is the least equipped to handle in depth electrical problems. They have no incentive to and sadly have the least amount of humility
Did you happen to have the PCM Relay keep clicking while the power was on? I have all the same lights going off and on and the PCM is click consciously, any advise would help. Great video by the way.
I'm willing to wager that at least one of those 90 likes was this truck's owner. I know I would be happy to have something like that sorted out. Nice job. Are those wiring diagrams available? I need to do this on my 6.4 as I suspect a similar problem.
I have a subscription to alldata that I pull my diagrams from, it is available to individuals who only need to buy service information for 1 vehicle I think is like $40ish dollars and can use the same repair info. Thanks for watching and for the compliment!
I have a 2012 6.7 that has a trailer brake module fault came up and no start/no crank. We have done everything you can think of searching to find the answer. I even replaced the module (had this issue last November) had a guy hook up a computer to it today and he got nothing. If its a bad pcm would it tell me that or would it just not communicate. All he got was pcm verify yes: flashed yes and no. Told me my 2 keys weren't the master key. He was using a Zeus. That's all I got from him. I know this one shows that it had an issue with the pcm and you resolved it. Sorry for the long post but I'm at the end of my rope and afraid a mechanic wouldn't find it, this guy today was a mechanic.
Unfortunately there are very few with the patience and skill to tackle these jobs. Most take a lot of time to iron out and I don't have any good one spot to tell to check. Every one is a case by case basis and my diagnosis is lead by the data collected. Typically the pcm won't come right out and say it's bad when hooked to a scan tool. I would start with confirming power and grounds to any modules you suspect of being faulty
Greetings forma Easter Island. F550 power stroke 6.7, no crank no start condition. Visual check for BJB and its clean no water inside, after check your video, I check on 6 14 terminal at DLC, and my meter reads 124 ohms. At terminal 3 and 11, The same 124 ohms! I don’t have wiring diagrams or conectors locación for this job. Can you help me? Thanks…..
Sounds like you should look into that trouble code and see what the diagnostic procedure is as that is completely unrelated to the case study I went over here
I don't know how long it took you to find and repair the issue, but it's a shame the Dealer had it for 2 months and their techs gave up. They definitely need to better train them.
Took me about 2 hours. Dealer techs have little to no electrical training from my experience or at least locally to me. I have 2 dealers near me that sublet their hard ones to me
Great vid man, but my question is was that harness sitting that close to the fender well from the factory? Or was some one in there and didn’t put it back where it needed to be/broke a clip some where? It’s pretty nuts that that one wire killed it all, and it was the one effected by the rubbing. Had a very similar issue on my 6.0 power stroke, I must have crushed the harness going in or out of the truck with a dressed engine. Well it managed to make a weak line on the crank sensor. But would lose continuity once the trick was warmed up and the harness settled down after relaxing from the heat. That was a fucking joy.
Sometimes you get a nightmare.....lol. but I honestly don't see enough of this vintage super duty to know how common it is but there wasn't any kind of broken clips or anything I saw causing the harness to rub. I know on the f-150 platform there is a similar breakout right there for the wiper motor and it frays against the fender liner just the same in the same area. I believe just poor fitment from the manufacturer
Dude where are you at can I hire you to fix mine? I have the exact same issue. I’ll probably be able to get it based on this video if it’s the same but you’re incredible.
Hey I have the same problem but with the white wire. I don’t know what to do from here I have the jump wire like you have it and the truck starts. But the only thing different is I’ve got no fuel light on and I know I got fuel. What do I do from here
Sounds like the same issue probably just a break in the wire somewhere. Might be resourceful to get a wiring diagram and check from both ends to isolate where the open is
Great Video! My truck is doing the exact same thing. I followed exactly what you did and found to be having problems with the same wire (white with light blue stripe). Do you happen to have a number for that harness? Thank you for the great video!
hi i watch your video , i have 2009 F250 6.4l , i have no communica with pcm , wonder do you have a wire diragran can up one for me i follow your step , it help alot , i still read 120 ohm TK
Man, you sure know your shizz. Loved the vid. Question- I have a 14 F350 and the advancetrac light is on. I have an obd 2 code reader. Right wheel speed sensor. I changed it and it’s still on. Any suggestions? I appreciate it
Dude I have almost the exact same problem on a 2019 super duty 6.7 it will start and automatically shuts off throwing all kinds of codes where are you out of
Where exacrly are you located? I may have a job for you. Ive got a 20ll 6.7 that somwtimes will start just fine no check engine lights or fault lights at all & everytbing is just fine. Then somwtimes it will start & have a check engine light on & a hill track decent warning & oil light warning and a couole others but i can still druve the vehicle. Then somwtimes i go to start it and it wont start at all however if i take a small jumper pack & put it on the passanger battery only it will fire right up like there was never a problem in the 1st place. Ive been dealing with this for the past couple of months and i just dont want it to leave me stranded. I also font have any reputable honest mechanics i can trust who arnt looking to rob me and tell me its 1 thing and not another. Anyhow any chance your located in texas?
@@BustedtoBuilt my truck does similar things. It will be fine for a while and then none of the gauges work and all the warning stuff comes on the dash and it won’t start if you shut it off but if you leave it set for a while it will start back up and run until you shut off again.
that was great. not many people have that skill and perserverance. thanks a bunch

Well said!

Thanks for your video!
Appreciate the kind words and good luck with the repair!

Great video. Hopefully I can figure mine out. It’s more of a sporadic issue than all the time.
Hope you get to the bottom of it!
Thank you for this video saved a mountain of headaches on the truck im working on. 🤘
Glad it helped
Got rv on this chassis with this issue .I wish I had seen this video before my repair negotiations. But I'm sending it to my self for future reference

I just run across a 2017 F250 that has the same symptoms. So thanks for making this video
Thanks for the view!

Have a similar issue but I do get a code for a park/ neutral and truck won’t start unless brakes are applied any direction on where to look

I saw the MIL on, what was the fix for that?

You would think something as critical as a wire harness would be better protected.
