    Some things to note: I just did this on my 2022 psd tremor, Ford has since moved the through wires to where they are really convenient, the ones inside the kick panel are right next to the harness, then under the hood they are right of the three big ecu harnesses tucked under them next to the firewall behind the fuse box you removed with the aux wires. So don't rip out your fender liner for absolutely no reason like I did 😆 also, there are TWO yellow with green wires and that was not discussed. Wire #7 is the yellow/green wire you need for a diesel, the other yellow/green wire is for a gas engine applications. Great video otherwise. And props to Ford for Making it more accessible!

    Just did this on my 2022 F-250 Platinum Tremor with 6.7 Power stroke. I used a 15k ohm resistor between the white/brown and green wires from the harness and green for the pass through to my #2 upfitter switch. I did remove the battery and tray which made access much easier and left battery disconnect led for two hours as recommended for ECM. Worked like a charm. Great video!!!

    You can also buy a plug and play wiring module to do this , it install's in a minute on the passenger side where your pass-through wires are . Just plug -in and you are ready to go . They sell for about $120, wish I new this before installing a potentiometer on the driver's dash which took me over 8 hours work. The advantage of a potentiometer you can adjust the rpm speed to what you want.

    Winter time it is better on the engine to high idle it. Keeps the cylinder walls from getting cold and the atomized fuel from collecting on it. This will eventually cause cylinder wall scoring. This is called wet stacking.

    • @JaegerWrenching
      @JaegerWrenching 3 года назад +3

      High idle is awesome for older trucks, but there isn't really a need for it with newer trucks without some sort of PTO being utilized for a few reasons. First we have high idle on cold starts which decreases idle with increasing coolant temp. Second, we have a lot higher fuel pressure and maps that change it based on things like engine temp, CA temp, and fuel temp. Thirdly the injectors them selves have a finer spray pattern which aids in atomization of the fuel delivery along with cylinder head design and how good the swirl currently is with them. Couple that with EGR and now you have a warm inert gas helping to heat the incoming air further decreasing the fuels rate to full atomization. Not to mention the supplementary heaters most of these new trucks have will rapidly heat the engine coolant keeping the cylinder walls plenty warm even in extreme cold at a lower idle :)

      @@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod Lol it wasn't directed at you my dude, it was simply about correcting miss information about cylinder wash or wet stacking on newer diesels. Which is why it's under this comment. Wet stacking is a pre EGR issue more than anything. I simply said there wasn't a need for it! I never said don't do it! I'm all about having fun and making your truck the way you want it! Do it if the sound alone makes you happy! We just need a better EGR system that doesn't plug up after a while. Like recirculating the exhaust gas after the DPF instead of before.

    Unfortunately with this one I'm a bit confused, hate that and having to ask stupid questions.
    Why are these (pass through wires) need?
    Aren't the upfitter switches already pre-wired?
    If I want to install other things such as, lightbar, backup light, air compressor, maybe even a train horn, will I have to tap into the pass-through wires to wire each of those things?
    Seems like if a guy has to use those passes through wires in conjunction with the upfitter switches you're going to run into a problem where there are 6 upfitter switches and only 4 pass through wires?

      High idling = not idling. Per some "expert" opinions on the subject of extended idling cite "fuel wash" of the cylinder walls leads to excessive wear. Nope .. I can't defend that .. but easy to find on Da-Tube. No diesel expert but I was influenced.
      As brother ARod (Jedi Master) has stated, faster warm ups is one reason I use high idle. And when jump starting a vehicle is another. And in general .. it's a under $5 hack and 30mins .. so for me it was a "hey, why not"

    6:04 Your thumb is under "BU/WH" which is Blue/White not Brown/White. Brown is "BN" so you hooked it up using the BN/WH wire and it says it is for PTO REF whatever that means. I guess it still worked so go figure.
    Also, why wouldn't you hook it up to upfitter 5 or 6 since the truck must be on to effect idling anyway?
    Finally, of the 4 wires that Ford was kind enough to run from engine compartment to cab, why not use the smallest diameter and save the larger wires for something in the future that might require more power? Anyway, I really don't know the answers to all this, those are just some observations. I'm no wiring wizard but I'd like to save my heavier/live upfitter switches (but I can see how easy it is to change all 6 to live all the time) for other things.
