I do like this. When I did Logan, I went with straight Battlerager. I describe the spikes armor as being built into him, as his adamantium skeleton and claws. He can get the thp every round from reckless attack, plus Dwarven Fortitude to regent actual hp. It's simple and works very well.
@@RollingWithAdvantage as a build, it also lends itself to more feats too. If you're using unarmored defense, you have to pump DEX and CON aggressively. By using spiked armor, you cap your STR and then grab useful feats.
ok im 6 months late. but hey, I just found your channel. but more UA stuff came out. so...…. lvl 6 Barbarian - Path of the Beast (claws) lvl 3 Paladin - the Oath of Heroism (lay on hands, and SMITE!) lvl 11 Monk - Way of the Long Death Hill Dwarf is great. as for the paladin fight style I would pick Unarmed Fighting from UA no weapons, swing for d8 damage. lol, till your monk damage die pushs past that.
It should be noted that a bonus action unarmed attack can only be made after attacking with a monk proficient attack (unarmed or monk weapon), so attacking with a great axe wouldn't actually be a viable option for this, technically.
Samurai is definitely a great way to go! I think 3 levels of barbarian, 3 levels of samurai and the rest in monk. I would still start the game as a barbarian and then go 5 levels of monk.
I like the build idea but with that AC you're getting hit by everything, you only have so many ki points to dodge especially if you want to flurry of blows. Also if you don't kill stuff you don't get the temp hp. There seems to be a lot of competition for bonus action when you're trying to two weapon fight, trying to flurry of blows, dodge, and rage.
@@RollingWithAdvantage Could you explain? According to the PHB, Rage only applies toward "Melee Attacks"from "Melee Weapons". While "Unarmed Strike", while in use it is considered a "Melee Attack"; However, Unarmed Strike itself is "Not" classified as a "Melee Weapon". So... not sure about that part, unless it's an text error or I got something wrong. And no one called me out on this until yesterday, and I've been playing D&D for nearly a year now.
So you can use unarmed strike while raging but the question is whether you get the bonus damage from rage. This is grey area because how do we define melee weapons? I would rule that it does count but I’d recommend talking to your DM. Thematically I think a barbarian/monk would be a bruiser style of combat and that it makes sense for your damage to increase with unarmed strikes while raging.
MIni Maxing... This is not D&D is Videogaming with no computer .... Sooo sad. Now I really understand whay many people thiks D&D is not role playing game, just a dice rolling game.
Everyone enjoys the game differently. Some lean into power gaming, others enjoy role playing. I enjoy both aspects. Why can’t my combo build also be something fun to role play?
That's pretty ironic given that there's a whole playlist of thematic race-based builds on this channel! I think the odd min/max build is fun myself and I'm thoroughly enjoying the content.
There's two sides of the game for sure. Thinking of builds is surely more on the strategical side of the game, but that's what you plan mostly before you play. During game and between the sessions you don't think much about that anyways, so time to think of ways to embarrass the archduke or how to wiggle yourself out of the toxic love triangle you ended up in. Multiclassing is hard to wrap your head around, so many players, especially those that think heavy on the inner workings of their characters struggle to get a contributing build for the party and end up with single class characters and feel pressured in 13 predefined roles. For those people a video like this might actually be very helpful. Those Minmaxers out there like to do this kind of work for themselves and usually don't need videos like that.
Oh Man, I Love this build!!! Lolol. GREAT JOB Here!
You totally need to play this!
Shifter beasthide=wolverine
Shifter longtooth=Sabertooth tiger
path of the beast barbarian would give you claws while raging

That’s a great idea for the adamantium skeleton!

Cool character concept.
It’s very fun to play too. Thanks!
This build is awesome. I may have mixed some fighter in there over barbarian, maybe brute or samari

I definitely think you should be looking for items to boost your AC. One or two points would do wonders for sure.
I did a concept like this in Shadowrun which was a lot of fun. And now I'm looking to remake that character for 5e.
Awesome!!
@@RollingWithAdvantage the only real difference here is I plan on going Path of the beast so I actually have claws I can use.
Beast barbarians
Oh yea!
I like this build but i would add Tough as soon as possible after character hits level 6.
Definitely a solid option!
Gotta update this with path of the beast barb from tashas.
Great subclass! I’m working on something for path of the beast now.
Question: can you still use unarmed strike along with Rage?
Oh yes!
