    I like this version of Wolverine build. Recently I'm building a female Dwarf version for a friend. I chose 2 levels of Rogue instead of Barbarian and use medium armor instead of unarmored. I like the Rogue sneak atttack with Brute force, and the 2nd level bonus "cunning action" dodge action combo with Dwarven fortitude.
    I also made a homebrew weapon of Brass knuckles with Blades (based on Dagger to avoid a possible 'NO' from DM) not unlike your Bagh Nakh (though the images of Bagh Nakh are not what I was looking for).
    Mine has slightly less HP (d8 vs. d12 for 2 levels), but just as effective in my mind. I chose to emulate the Rage with role play instead of mechanics.... mostly focused on Brute force for extra damage dealing. either way is just fine....but like you the end goal is 18 Brute for the healing factor, with Dwarven fortitude until then.

    Episode 7 of the Fire Emblem stats: Logan.
    Wolverine's best weapons are in swords (specifically Japanese katanas), brawling (which is the closest thing Fire Emblem gets to his claws), and heavy armor (adamantium skeleton). He has a budding talent in authority because he tends to be thrusted into leadership positions on the fly and he's pretty good at it. He's bad at both types of magic because he's not a long-range combatant at all.
    His HP and defense are insane and his speed is pretty high but his luck, resistance, and charm are pretty lackluster.

    If I were to build Wolverine I would probably use the same spread as in the video, but go Shifter: Beasthide, keep the Soldier background and for classes I would take 8 levels of Totem Warrior Barbarian (First Totem of the Bear and then Wolf) and 12 levels of Soul Knife Monk. Now you have claws that can deal 1d8 slashing, piercing, blunt or psychic damage, if you get your con to 20 and get the Tough feat that should be 261 HP, and though you can’t heal as well you can gain your level + Con mod + 1d6 as temporary HP with +1 to AC, and not to mention all your resistances and immunities. And that’s just some of it. (And your attacks will be magical, so no one escapes your claws)

    Closest I've come to a wolverine build is a Mountain Dwarf Bear Totem Barbarian/Monk multiclass with the Dwarven Fortitude and Durable Feats. Patient Defense from the Monk Class lets you take the Dodge action as a Bonus Action, which lets you use Dwarven Fortitude to spend hit dice to heal which with Durable will be a pretty good amount of hit points, which you won't need to do as often with the Bear Totem damage resistance. If you ever got your hands on a Periapt of Wound Closure you could hypothetically heal for up to 20 - 24 points whenever you dodged for the cost of a ki point and a bonus action. I do feel if you did something that gimmicky the DM would make a special point of killing you.

  • @Actorclown
    @Actorclown 4 года назад +1

    If you rolled your stats and rolled really well you could add/pair Durable with the Dwarven Fortitude feat! Once your con is 20 you are healing minimum 15hp a pop cause your always gonna get 10! Better dodgy healing!! With capstone that's minimum 25hp a round if being dodgy. When you use your 2nd wind, when you wanna heal and keep on laying the smackdown, you heal 1d10+ 28 that round!! SHEESH!! Only thing that makes this more awesome is have your caster put the haste spell on ya, then you can use your extra action to dodge + heal and still get all your attacks in! Beserker indeed!!

    Meat shield builds like this are bittersweet for me because I find them so awesome in concept... but in practice they get boring very fast.
    Still, something like this would be pretty fun for a high level 1-shot.
    Also I now see how the Brute is a really awesome platform to take levels in and multi-class to other things thanks to that damage bonus.
    For example, a Brute/Monk could be a lot of fun, grabbing that bonus damage and Flurry of Blows along with Action Surge - and you could dish out some massive burst damage while being super hard to kill with high durability and evasive abilities!
    And that's not including splashing ranger for Hunter's Mark! Which now that I think of it - is a 3-class build that might also make for a compelling 'Wolverine-style' build!

    Interestingly enough, the bagh nakh were also called the grayclaws in Forgotten Realms 2e, and were renamed tiger claws in 3e. They're 1d4 damage and cost 3-5 gp depending on the edition. Nice idea to use those.

    Hey man! Been really loving these videos. Discovered them about a week ago and I've been binging. Wanted to make a request: I know you've mostly moved away from superheroes in your recent builds, but I'd love it if you could do Cyclops from the X-Men. I think it'd be a really cool challenge! Anyway, keep up the great content!

    I'm probable not the first one to suggest this and if I am good for me, but anyway here I go... theirs an easy way around your limited damage type dealing, in the comics Wolverine/Logan had a magic Katana called the Muramase forged from a piece of Logan's soul and it can weaken to outright neutralize regenerative healing factor like his own, so just make his Katana a magic Katana with neutralizing properties and that should take care of this builds limited damage types.
    My suggestion for a build I'd like to see; Uzumaki Naruto.

      So now back after campaign is finished and OMG this thing can get so insanely overbuilt especially if you change out one of the ASI (I switched wise ability score to take this feat cause my paladin had my back for Wis) for the savage attacker feat this character became the most broken character it was so much fun and stupidly powerful

  • @renegadeforlife5782
    @renegadeforlife5782 Год назад

    What about, order of the lycan and battlerager barbarian. Order of the lycan gives you lycan regeneration at 11th level, a bloodlust ability that activates (on a wis save) when your below half health to really enter beast mode, and battlerager is a barbarian class for dwarves, that use spiked armor and incorporate it into their attacks, similar to the claws. Or would battlerager be more Lady Deathstrike?

    • @marks2807

      I went with path of the beast Barbarian/Samurai fighter. Being Wolverine is a Samurai in his adventures in Japan, and Fighting Spirit gives you temps when you use a bonus action which could be a minor form of regen.

  • @ForeverDegenerate
    @ForeverDegenerate 5 лет назад +2

    @Tulok the Barbrarian Actually Wolverine doesn't heal without thinking. It's the exact opposite. Wolverine needs to think about healing to be able to heal. It's been said that Wolverine is only as Immortal as he thinks he is. Which is why he's never really depicted as being 100% unkillable. At the end of the day, he believes he is mortal, like everyone else. Also, at the end of the day, the animal side of his mutation makes it incredibly hard for him to focus on anything, let alone healing (Berserker Rage anyone?). If he actually focused solely on his Healing Factor, he would, literally, be unkillable unless you somehow manage to stab him in the heart or the brain (he can't regenerate organs as he's not Deadpool).

    • @ForeverDegenerate
      @ForeverDegenerate 5 лет назад

      @Christyan Carroll That must be a more recent evolution of his mutation that I wasn't aware of. I haven't actually followed comics in a long time, but the last I remember, Wolverine couldn't do that. That's what differentiated his mutation from Deadpool's. Sounds like they just decided eff it and made Wolverine's and Deadpool's mutations the exact same. Pity. I liked that differentiation.

      Not really, an improvised weapon is more like a chair leg, something you can't easily train with

    • @CanadianCrits
      @CanadianCrits 3 года назад

      @@EnderSpy007 Not really, a chair leg isn't much different than a club, and broken glass is similar to a knife. Any martial class should be able to use them as effectively. Even a normal human being can use them "without special training". An improvised weapon is something not listed in the Equipment page.
