    Need to make sure I bust out the claws, and really hammer in on the mutant powers with this build, but I think I pulled it off, with this Triple Multiclass...

      Thank you so much for this build. I recently decided to do some builds from the anime Seven Deadly Sins, and this is perfect for the character Ban. He's an immortal theif who can use a unique magic power to steal stuff from a distance, so I plan to use this build and tweak it by putting three levels of Rogue to get Arcane Trickster, then go 17 levels into Cleric for all the healing spells listed here.
      Spells I'll go with are Mage Hand (for his thief magic, Snatch), Acid Splash (to reference a move he has in a mobile app game), Sapping Sting (his magic lets him steal people's strength and dexterity), Absorb Elements (because Ban was able to adapt to the ever changing unpredictable weather of Purgatory while it for 3,000 years from his perspective, 3 hours to everyone not in Purgatory), Silvery Barbs (because being hit with an attack that should be deadly and killing you takes the attacker by surprise while giving an advantage to allies attacking), and Charm Person (because while he should have 8 Charisma to start as he looks unsavory, he has a gruff charm about him that people come to like eventually).
      Also, this same build could work for Deadpool, but with Rogue Assassin as he is a hit man for hire along with being an anti-hero.

      @@dndbuilds if you like the 7DS idea, I plan to eventually do all of the male members of the team, but so far only have build made for Ban. I plan to try to do a Circle of Forest Fairy Druid for King since he is the king of fairies from the Fairy King's Forest in the series and his primary weapon is a transforming spear made from the branch of a magic tree. Otherwise, I'm debating on Tiefling Sorceror or Variant Human Fighter with multiclass for Meliodas and I just know Gowther will be an Autognome, but not sure what class to go with since the bulk of his powers are psychic damage or deal with affecting people's minds.

      So if you want good, but cheesy, regeneration, get poison immunity. Then acquire a Green Dragon mask, and a snake familiar. You now heal the amount of poison damage you'd have taken from a bite

  • @skycr7059
    @skycr7059 Год назад +9

    When you choose the bite option from the beast barbarian, you are able to regain hit points through biting people. It's not exact, but you can tell that subclass was created with Wolverine in mind.
    I definitely think that the life cleric multiclass was the best way to go in regards to wolvies' healing factor. But a high level beast barbarian with a dip into fighter would also totally work for wolverine.

    It's unfortunate 5e doesn't have a "Cast whilst raging" feature of any sort. Pathfinder has the Rage Prophet, a barbarian divine caster class, and one of its features is to cast healing spells whilst raging, but only on themselves. As soon as Cleric came up, it's what I thought of for the self-healing bit.

    There’s another option for the healing you could do, it’s simply celestial warlock with a number of d’s equal to 1+your warlock level. You can expend them as a bonus action to heal yourself, and it’s not a spell so it’s perfect for a raging barbarian.
    *edit*
    Additionally warlock has some nice evocations you can pick up, devils sight (for the magical dark vision, possibly could be played off as you see through the darkness VIA smell). Another really good option is pact of the chain if you can figure out a nice y to have and pick up the evocation gift of the ever living ones, so you don’t have to roll for healing to you, you’d treat it as max.
    Anyways I loved the video and hope you continue to grow!

    Hrm.. I'd get a belt of hill giant strength (Str 21 as long as you wear it) and grab Observant at level 4. This would get you Wolverine's heightened senses with a +5 to your passive Perception and Investigation checks. It also lets you bump Int or Wis by one, allowing you to meet your stat requirement for your level 7 spells early. Bring Con to cap, then grab some more feats. My top picks for character apropriate options are Dwarven Fortitude can also simulate a healing factor by allowing you to heal whenever you use the dodge action, Mobile so you can move faster and get across difficult terrain with ease, Squat Nimbleness increases speed and allows easier escape from grapple, and Skill Expert can let you pick up stealth. For all his berserker antics, Wolverine was very sneaky when he wanted to be.

    Think about Moon Druid instead of Cleric. You really only need 6 levels. The Large size is just a bigger threat area, he doesn't have to actually get bigger and change into a Cave Bear. The rest is just a big ol pool of HP. Then you heal yourself with your slots, while Raging. Still pick up Regenerate too and have some real big health pools and threat areas if you wanna go that far. Remember, nothing says you have to use the beast's abilities, you can just go slashin around with your d6 claws. I'd still used the beast's claws till you get dropped out of form, but then hey, you still got yours and probably another Wild Shape in the chamber.
    Beast Barb 3 / Moon Druid 6 / Long Death Monk 11. Dwarven Fortitude + Patient Defense give you another bonus action heal. Come get some, Bub.

      I'd go Custom Lineage if I could -- mainly because around the time of his creation, the idea that Wolverine was an actual sentient mutant wolverine that passed for human was being tossed around. Sure, they went another route, but Custom Lineage provides a certain... uncertainty. You can still take the Tough feat while hanging on to that darkvision from Dwarf (a part of his keen senses) and avoid sacrificing that 5 ft of movement from the Stout Folk toward the beginning. Wouldn't want to slow down the Fastball Special*, would we?
      *I know, I know. The Fastball Special has nothing to do with Wolverine's speed and everything to do with Colossus' throw, but there was a joke in there, dammit. Giving it a thought though... and you could have Colossus ready a re-skinned Vortex Warp (Strixhaven) and use that to launch Wolverine. On that note, I really wouldn't mind seeing more X-Men.

Immune to all non magical attacks, they regenerate a D10 at the start of each of their turns, and they might even get claws depending on the type of lycanthrope they are. The only real difference is the fact that lycanthropes will change at night and have their hybrid forms. But even then, Wolverine actually had something similar to that in the comics.

    I respect the variant take on it, but 'true to the character' doesn't feel the case here. The dwarf and PotB Barb spot on, cleric just feels so off. I feel like Barb 6, since his claws cut through almost nearly anything and the rest Fighter, battlemaster makes the most since, being as he's a veteran of many wars, champion also. Feats I'd lean into are Durable and Tough, the rest are all to finish out stats, focusing Str/Con/Dex. Charisma is the only real dump, Int secondary if you have to, he's always been good as a lone wolf but helps and self sacrifices a lot, while I also agree with you his wisdom with age shows, he makes some very clutch decisions that feel based off instinct and any bonus towards perception is a good thing as his senses are very keen. The cleric helps to more reliably self heal, in which case I'd prob lean into maybe 8 barb, 8 monk, 4 fighter to more reliably self sustain, twice per short rest is still respectable.

    • @dndbuilds

Also, giving the character the armblade common magic weapon specific for warlocks helps sell the idea i think. If going that race, i feel a couple levels in fighter then some in Ranger could very well make sense since thr armblades would cover the need for natural weapons. This build is alot more makable in modern dnd stuff. Remarkable Recovery the feat increases all healing received, from class features, spells, potions, by con. Then you also could play a few things.
    Dwarf, For dwarven fortitude to get that action dodge consume hit die.
    Aura of Vitality, a third level paladin spell that heals 2d8 as a bonus
    Champion fighter gets regen at 18 (half hp, heal 5 + con)
    Redemption Paladin gets regen at 15 (half hp, heal 1d6+half level)
    lycan blood hunter gets regen at 11 (half hp, heal 1+con) [its homebrew, but its sorta official.}
    But for the wolverine rp, probably what you made was the best, life cleric + barbarian. Taking remarkable recovery and also taking dwarven fortitude (Because wolverine was a short 5'2), also in that vein, the race could just be custom lineage to make everything fit in.
    Also regenerate would heal an remarkable 1+2+spell level+con. per turn for a potential, 15
    if you could nab an item, the periapt of would closure syngerizes insanely well with dwarven fortitude. so you could as an action heal (1d12+con+con)x2

    I know I'm a little late to the party, but I wonder if, given the opportunity, Simic Hybrid might not be a better choice for Wolvie. You'd lose poison resistance but become an *actual* mutant ... and gain some useful physical changes outside your class. At level 1 you could take Nimble Climber, reflavoring it later as making your own "ladder" by sticking your big honkin' claws into whatever you're climbing, and at level 5 Carapace could stand in for your adamantiu ... uuhhh, adamanTINE ... skeleton and give you a much-needed AC boost. I don't know, though ... does armor that's actually part of your body count as "wearing" armor? As a DM I would say no, but as a player I'm not so sure.
    In any case, he also needs a boost to his senses. I think either Alert or Observant would be appropriate if a way could be found to accommodate it. Likewise (and you may have mentioned this; I don't remember) Enhance Ability (Owl's Wisdom) could be extremely helpful with those tracking and active perception checks.
    It's really too bad there are so few non-spellcasting sources of healing in 5e, but as things stand I think you got the multiclass split exactly right.

    Only change I suggest. If you are having other "heroes or villains" in the mix like Hulk or Abomination, I would shift over points from Strength to Constitution or Dexterity. Hulk is way stronger, but Wolverine is faster and almost as durable.

    The only problem with this build is it goes more for the idea of wolverine rather than the actual gameplay with him, like the choice to use a dwarf because he’s short rather than human for different stats.
    Take it from someone who has never played DND in their life

  • @gw1357
    @gw1357 2 года назад

    I buy Hill Dwarf as the equivalent of being from rural Canada. 100% agree with the stats. 100% agree with Barbarian as the baseline and with a little Fighter for the more professional side of Wolverine.
    I don't think I would have gone Cleric. I think I might have done a few levels of Monk if I was leaning into the Frank Miller samurai/ronin take on the character. Or I think going a few levels of Rogue or Ranger (Hunter) would have made sense to represent the Weapon X time as an agent of Department H or as his time in X-Force.
    You might not be old enough, but do you remember Dark Sun DND (late 1980s, early 90s AD&D)? Dark Sun had "psionics" as (essentially) mutant powers that were pseudo-scientific rather than magical. There would be some good mechanics there to adapt to any kind of X-Men build. (I'm showing my age for sure.)

    Interesting choices, but I think it would be better to increase dexterity (14) and increase constitution to the max. Wolverine is not known for his strength, but he is very agile and his main attribute being tough. Good build

      @artrigus1515 I wouldn't say wrong if your having fun and wolverine makes sense to be a dwarf. Shifters are fun to play and make a good wolverine, but if all that is available to you is the PHB stick to dwarf
