    Hope you all enjoy the new build, let me know what spells you might take to recreate Doctor Strange, and let me know if there's anything you might like in a future video! I'll try to post every Thursday so you can have something fun to try with those Weekend One Shots.

      Now that the newest Dr. Strange movie is out. Does this alter your sense of whether or not Dr. Strange would take Necromancy?

    Cloak of Levitation- would be considered a legendary intelligent magic item. There are rules in the DMG for making intelligent magical items and while D&D has a bias toward intelligent magical SWORDS, there is nothing that says you can't create the Cloak using these rules.

    • @dndbuilds

      I didn't even consider that, that's probably a better option, and will most likely be easier to pull off

    The mage hands could also be a reference to how he killed Gargantos in multiverse of madness, I know the movie wasn’t out then but now that is out I’m saying that it could also be a great reference to that. Just a fun fact. My only nitpick is that in the comics he can control the elements meaning that in Endgame he is manipulating the water into a giant whirlpool without using wind, you can see the magic flowing from his hands in a distortion next to his hands. If I played D&D I would use this because it’s epic

      I did release the video far before Multiverse of Madness, but I can totally see where you're coming from.
      I do feel like there is a slight lack of really cool water based spells in DnD, and would love them to be a bit expanded. Although there could be some cool things with the Scribe Wizard, who can change the element of a spell.

    Keen mind would also be a good feat that allows the user to accurately recall anything seen or heard within the past month. It's helpful when asking the DM something that would otherwise get left at "you should've written it down".

    Great video and editing! I only have one comment about it and that at the very end with the cloak. A much easier route then trying to convince your DM to let you have a CR 8 creature as a pet is to just have the boots of flying flavored as a cape. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

    • @dndbuilds
      @dndbuilds  3 года назад +4

      Thanks, I totally appreciate the positive feedback. And yeah I know there's plenty of little flying items, even with like a broom of flying or boots of flying it would have worked. But I just really like the idea of it being able to attack and smother people, as well as have its own sentience. But that's a totally awesome alternative especially when it comes to having a more straightforward way to do it so you don't have to just have an awesome DM that will let you have a creature companion.
      Or maybe I just like making it harder on myself lol

    Dope. I liked the video, thank you.
    So I may have a solution for the cape. I feel like if I were to tackle it. I would build a magical item from the ground up.
    Requires Attunement.
    Gives you a fly speed, at least 30 would be fine. Maybe it gives you a reaction when you are hit with an attack, the cloak can attempt to restrain, blinded and smother them, baring I suppose a STR Save. Of course they can attempt to break it at the end of their turn or with an action. If they fail the save, they have to take the cape off of them before they suffocate and fall unconscious. That number is generally a number of rounds equal to 1+Con mod.
    I think that's my take on it. Hope this helps someone.

      Yeah at the time I made this video I really wanted to include some of the timestones abilities in the overall build. And there isn't a great item that works to replicate it. So it seemed to make sense to go this path. But soon after the multiverse of madness came out, I feel like it would have been a bit more fitting to go with a different route.

    The Marvel Comics Doctor Strange: either a 20th level Sorcerer or Warlock, but can cast ALL spells in DnD, plus MORE. There is NO WAY that version can be built in DnD. And yes, he did learn from books, but he no longer actually uses the books, as he casts from memory.

    • @dndbuilds
      @dndbuilds  2 года назад +1

      I totally understand that, but actually having intense memory is usually tied to intelligence at least in Dungeons and Dragons, and the only way to have access to all spells is to have insane intelligence, because wizards get access to more spells than anyone else

    • @dndbuilds

      Absolutely, D&D did add the ability to basically alter the ability scores however you need to so you can use the exact same ability scores, but really I would just move the charisma bonus you get from tabaxi over to intelligence, because dexterity can really help with your armor class. Otherwise the only thing you really miss out on is the healer feat from being a variant human. Otherwise you can pretty much follow this build step for step.
