One of the oldest mentions of the Cosmic Egg comes from the Pelasgians, the indigenous inhabitants of Greece. In this myth, the Goddess Eurynome and her serpent, Ophion, give birth to the Cosmic Egg, from which all things originate.

  • @KingRumar

There are many versions of the stories involving Phanes. One is where his egg was created by the universe itself and he was born, he then created Nyx and the two had many primordial children, there’s a version where Nyx and Erebus had children which Phanes was one of the first (but this story conflicts with his name Protogenos and gods and goddesses tend to have thematic off spring, a light and dark deities would have light based and dark based children but not two dark based deities having light and dark based children), there’s also the story where you mentioned that in order to rule with absolute authority, Zeus devoured Phanes, but then there’s the version where he saves Phanes. The titans in this story tore him apart so their rule wouldn’t be challenged but Zeus and (I think) Athena down the line reassembled him.
PHANES (Phanês). A mystic divinity in the system of the Orphics, is also called Eros, Ericapaeus, Metis, and Protogonus. He is said to have sprung from the mystic mundane egg, and to have been the father of all gods, and the creator of men. (Proc. in Plat. Crat. p. 36; Orph. Arg. 15; Lactant. Instit. i. 5.)
Orphica, Argonautica 12 ff (trans. West) (Greek epic C4th to C6th A.D.) :
"Firstly, ancient Khaos's (Chaos') stern Ananke (Inevitability), and Khronos (Chronos, Time), who bred within his boundless coils Aither (Aether, Light) and two-sexed, two-faced, glorious Eros [the primordial Eros], ever-born Nyx's (Night's) father, whom latter men call Phanes, for he first was manifested."
Another tale is that Phanes willingly gave his symbol of authority and power - his scepter (or in the relief of his: a staff) to Nyx. She in turn passed it to Ouranos, Kronos then seized it (titan) who in turn had it seized by Zeus.
It’s also shared that as mortals can’t look upon the true forms of the gods, the gods can’t look upon Phanes, reflecting he is a much higher power than even the Gods. They only see him as pure light.

Oh, nice! I think it's funny how these symbols are so central to our society, and yet so repressed, just because they don't fit the narrative of the triumphant state religion. Only NOT knowing about them means we deny our own culture, so what's the point of tens of thousands of years of collective experience and progress if we're just going to say: hey, it's not what the council of Nicea were into, so it must be worthless?

The idea that the serpent could warm-up the egg is interesting, but not zoologically likely. Reptiles are cold blooded and get their own body temperature regulated by the environment, not the other way around. That said... I find the serpent/egg pair intriguing at a different level. People seem to assume the egg is the egg of a bird? But reptiles lay eggs too (with few exceptions with viviparous [actually ovoviviparous] species), although soft shell eggs. So is this suggestive of a predatory behaviour, or of a protective one?

Foolish Fish It's not an overlap. What was not considered hellenic, and hence civilised, was deemed barbarian. This is most certainly barbarian, in the original meaning of the word. Otherwise the modern greeks would have inherited the qeleshe; or at least borrowed it like they did the fustanella. And might i add, being neighboring races(ethnos) who have had a lot of interaction through the millennia, there are still deep irreconcilable cultural differences, language being one of them. These deep differences bring about all sorts of theories on the origin of the other. For example, Odysseus is shown on frescoes and sculptures with a qeleshe or a hat very similar to it. His name can be explained through albanian as Udhësi, or the man of the road or of travels. There's a whole theory that explains the names of almost all greek gods and heroes through the albanian language. The ancient greeks themselves claimed to have learnt of their gods through the pelasgians that were the predecessors of the Illyrians. The first word of the Illiad (minin in ancient greek, mëni in albanian) is still used in Albania in day to day life. There is lore on having a "snake of the house" who must never be killed. Many other pagan traditions have survived in Albania to date. You might also come across both Albanian priests and Albanian dervishs that echo ancient tradition by writing "sacrilegious" poetry, praying to fairies and to a goddess of the universe. I think the idea of the goddess might be related to the symbolism of the egg, since both claim that everything started from a female symbol(as opposed to the middle eastern religions that make the creator a He not a She) , but that last one is just my opinion.

The universe is a black abyss. Energy is rare. Our God is named Jahovah. (Jah means masculine, hovah means feminine in Hebrew) They're two cosmic Titans, and they live in tribes. Norm Titans are mere ants to these cosmic Titans. The stars and planets are the energy, within their body like cells, everything we see in the night sky is only one of their bodies. The Kings body. The tribe spends millennia gathering energy, to pass it to their greatest warrior and to their greatest loving Queen. They meet once prepared and aligned. They balance energy, threw sexual relations. After the Protector King kills and absorbs an enemy predator. He will make love, balancing his energy with hers. When both gathered enough energy, the female lays an egg. Giving back to her loving warrior King. Its thes Mans duty to protect the egg, while female goes off to gather more energy because she becomes depleted.
The Buddah symbol represents, the King sitting and the egg in his lap. We see signs in all cultures and all things. They do not leave anything to chance because energy and life is so precious. They treat energy, like droplets of water in the Sahara desert.
The different species of Earth, represent the predators they come across in the abyss. The male King then creats spirits, to live and fertilize the egg. The chosen one will be the spirit to evolve as the egg hatches. Animals and humans create the body, the two parents but God creates the spirit in every living thing. When we die, we go back to the Father and energy is recycled. It is why we want togo to the sky after death. To be reborn again or safe in meantime. The King creates beings as sperm to an embryo of a womans egg. They all are competing for the most balanced spirit and tobe chosen.
One of the defense poses the King does, is he bursts into a cloud of a universe, engulfing his enemys whole. Absorbing and gathering energy. That's what we are seeing now, when we look into the stars. It's our father striking a loving protective position to watch over us all, until the Earth transforms and hatches. The Queen will return, to help, after she has finished regaining strength absorbing energy from afar.
In everything that we do and in every cell of our body, is Gods gifted energy and love, holding everything together. Without them, we would be nothing. See all and know all. Now if the egg becomes riddled with disease, like evil, they will remove the sacred spirits and wipe it clean and start again. Nothing goes to waste in the abyss.
This is all true but I believe that not only one spirit is chosen, I believe it's two. A male and female, the egg will split like an embryo with twins, becoming two children cosmic Gods. Imprinted and made for one another. They live in enternal, conjoined bonded and mated pairs. This religion I speak of is called Love religion. Never trust Angel's or demons. They are the ones who thought they killed God, when he burst into a cloud of cosmic dust but really it was him striking a defense mode. Theyve tried to take over the Earth, Vallhalla or heaven. Hades. They are such greedy ignorant fools. We dont need a book or another man to connect us to God. When our creators are within our hearts, in our blood, in everything. Be wary of anything telling you they are a God or a chosen being. Because they are liars. Fake prophets, false Angel's, demons etc only need you to believe in them because they know they are false. A true God does not aquire you to bow or believe. The greatest warrior is the greatest not because of the person beside him, it comes from within and you and you alone. Whomever is reading, God loves you and do not fret about death while living life. We are all in Gods hands and they will catch us everytime. Peace & Love to the world

I've come to the conclusion that the serpent is acamoth which is the lower nature of sophia in the gnositc story, the egg is the birth of the material world where phanos/demiurge is the first born then he/she creates all the other gods/Angels which some rebel against him because they aren't perfect just like the demiurge isn't perfected because everything in this realm was created by the lower nature of Sophia which is called acamoth, thus all these beings are fighting over the possession of humanity and the universe and the true Gnostic must defeat all these beings in order to escape this fallen world and reach pleroma where the true father that Christ speaks of lives and once all True souls escape then this false reality self destructs because there is no longer any true light sustaining it, basically a reversal of the big bang, which in the physical manifestation might be a huge black hole in the center of the universe
