You need the Henry Lever in 22mag... That looked Fun! Who-Tee-Who!
I love the videos but please, please take the laser off of the top of the cmmg and put it somewhere else on the gun man
What brand is that laser and where'd you get it?
I’d love to see a comparison between 303 British, 308 Winchester and 30-06 Springfield
I'd like to see you do a paper plate comparison between 222, 222 mag and 223. Though it might be hard for you to get your hands on a 222 mag I've only seen 2 in my 35 years
The .22 LR actually broke it in half with 7 rounds. The .17 HMR did it in 9 rounds. The .22 WMR broke it fully in half in not 5 shots, but a mere 4 shots @5:23 (in .25 slow motion you can see it crimp in the middle top)
The 22 mag is a beast.
You were right about 22 mag
22lr broke it but 22mag went through all the way
I agree with on the count
22 hornet shooting soft points probably would have done it sooner than the 22 mag.sense it's pushing a lot more horse power.
.22 is such an underrated round, more power than a lot of people think. Love my Henry .22 mag
👍👍💥💥💥
Until the advent of the 7.62x39 more people had been killed by .22LR than any other round. Don't sell that puppy short!
Everyone says 10mm is best caliber, but .22LR is the clear winner. Of course there are many better but it’s got plenty of power for fun and decent power for small prey and in a pinch can be effective for even medium prey if ethical hunting isn’t an issue, (survival and sustenance on a very tight budget). It is far and away my favourite caliber but of course it does have many shortcomings.
I know those small bees are super strong man now I want a .22 to combine it with my 30-06! I loved that performance and the .22wmr woow
I've herd of old timers in my area dropping big bodied moose with a 22lr wouldn't be my first choice but it worked for them shot placement is key for sure
I’ve always loved the 22 LR and have wonderful memories of buying many, many 50 round boxes at 50cents each. Those were the days. My favorite of these 4 is hands down the 22mag.
REMEMBER... .17HMR bullets are DESIGNED to fragment on initial impact. Some are made with frangible materials. That's why they are called 'gopher grenades'. Keep this on fact in mind when comparing to other calibers/other bullet designs.
The 22mags always deliver the goods in these tests. I just wish they'd make more semi-auto models.
Good news, Walther made a 22mag in a semi auto pistol, I hear it is really good too.
I agree Pappa. Have a Savage A22mag semi, piece of junk when it comes to feeding but deadly accurate; like my bolt Ruger American better.
@@cameronbartlett856 I am so hoping for Walther to add a carbine to pair with their WMP, plus I would like to see them do the same for their P22.
I got a Taurus/Rossi 22LR/22WMR Carbine Revolver, really reliable. All these calibers for some reason are underrated, I cannot disagree more, any one of them has their purpose and scope with real life applications. Personally wished the Glock 44 would’ve been better for EDC…waiting for more day on the new Sig in 22LR.
Agreed!
Definitely 7 rounds for the 22 lr
👍👍
I counted the same
Yep Zach, you're correct!
He shot so fast with the 22lr it wasnt fair for the caliber he aimed every shot on the others and was didnt shoot the same in accuracy
I agree!
Anytime a squirrel is carrying a piece of concrete as cover, I’ll use my .22 mag. 😁
💪💪
@@WHOTEEWHO i just use a stick and then they khow what happened if they touch my coconuts
i´ll use my 12 gauge O.o
22 magnum appears to be the winner. The 5.7 applicator was the coolest though.
It sure looks grizzly 😎
@Marino Old school! Stay classy, young man! 🧐🧐🧐😊
Nope it was the .22 look again ;)
People always underestimate .22 LR It's good round! Thanks for sharing!
.22 magnum is my favorite
I love em all Ralph!
@@WHOTEEWHO If it goes bang and sends rounds down range it's all right in my book!
4 rounds! 👌🏻
.𝟐𝟐 𝐌𝐚𝐠𝐧𝐮𝐦 𝐦𝐲 𝐟𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐨𝐨!
I love the .22 Mag. I had an old AMT AutoMag .22 Mag in the day. Shot like a laser gun. I took that squirrel hunting while my partners all took their Ruger 10/22's or similar. Gained more than a pound or three from biscuits and squirrel gravy!
That was a blast!!! No pun intended.
Lotta respect for 22 mags.
😆😆😆
I know I’m not the only one that saw the block drop in the middle on the 4th shot of the .22. Mag......? 7 shots on the .22........?
Nope, not the only one. That’s what I counted ..and I used fingers!
Definitely saw it split at 7 rounds for the 22 LR.
U are rite! (4) rounds broke it!
Now that was a interesting video and once again the 22LR gets overlooked and underrated because at 22 LR was no joke it held its own.
Love this! I should send in my .17 wsm for an ultimate rim fire showdown!
Love my .22 mag marlin. Had it since I was 18 and now 40. Still my favorite gun and my first gun purchase when I turned 18.
I bought my Marlin .22 Mag bolt gun when I was in high school too. Had to sell it a few years ago. Its one I miss badly.
Glad to see the 22 lr stood its ground. Keep up your good videos. Always a pleasure to watch while cooking... 😄
That 17hmr actually split it at 9 rounds, you could see the back wall drop
👍👍
17 hmr seems like a pretty interesting round, it dumps all its energy once it hits something
@xeepromx 92 people disagree with you 👍🏻👍🏻
17. Hmr is a great round
@@sirdas9334 17 hmr is is alot of fun. I use mine for 300 and in. Its also very cheap at 11$ a box in stores
Not too surprised... 22 mag is a hell of a cartridge. Love to see how one of my 36 caliber revolvers stacks up to it... Might have to try it.
My 22 mag rifles do a better job on varmints up to 100 yards +, than close up with 38 special. Every time.
It's my primary carry piece.
For the money, the .22 mag is the best one I my humble opinion. Thanks again WTW!
Ahhh you gotta put some glass on that 5.7 and shoulder it! It would definitely take the cake then.
Because it's a brace he probably had to take some legal caution so ATF or someone wouldn't report him for having it on his shoulder, not that anyone actually follows that stupid law.
Yes, the three letters have personally called me and told me not too, not kidding
I'm selling my concrete saw.
U messed up with the 22. Should of used mini mags. They hold up and penetrate better than a stinger. Not to mention the 10/22 has a shorter barrel
I have a Keltek PMR 30 and tried different brands of 22 Mag and the Fiochi FMJ almost went through 5 sheets of 5/8 -almost 3"- maple plywood. The others ( Winchester, CCI , Hornady VMax n)never got through 4 sheets
Amazing! I was very surprised the 22 LR did as well as it did against those other calibers. There is just something magic about a 22 LR.
This really changed my mind with regard to the 22wmr. I have an eaa bounty hunter with both 22lr and 22mag cylinders. The mag cylinder is unused but I think that’s going to change soon.
Great video -- I really learned some good PRACTICAL ballistics info. It looks like the .22 LR gives a lot of bang for the buck with the .22 WMR right up there. Good to see
just how good common rimfire can be.
The .17hmr v-max ammo you use is made to break into many pieces. Use the game rounds at 20 grains and the outcome would be a lot different.
CCI FMJ would Punch through nicely. I bought all the different ammo I found for my .17hmr Tikka T1x
Dead on!
@@annoyedchef7124 I love Tikka rifles! I didnt know they have a .17hmr version! My ruger precision and savage 19L are great rifles but I would like to try the Tikka. Thanks for the info.
Its best to try every brand and type of bullet to see which round your gun likes. Both my .17s like hornady v-max the best. I get better groups with the hornady than I do with CCI, federal, or even Winchester. My buddies ruger precision likes CCI better. It's always wise to try different ammo.
Absolutely the velocity and varmint bullet put it at a huge disadvantage
.22 Mag impressive as ever!
22 mag in my favorite, after watching your videos finally got me a Ruger 22 mag , love it
Nice!
I purchased a Savage model 93 .22 mag with a thumbhole stock and stainless barrel. One of the prettiest rifle's I own. It is like sticking your hand in a mink glove. The thing shoots like butter, and is a tac driver at 100-150 yards. Good enough for me and the girls I go with, here in Michigan!
and THIS is why I tune in to watch your channel. Please keep it up, great stuff. Thanks
Appreciate you watching!!!
Cool test!! If you ever redo it, place the blocks on a narrow center support so it’ll be easy to tell when the center breaks. 👍
Like I’ve said, I’m partial to the mag, but I think the 5.7 would have split it, at least the same as the mag. And the block lost integrity at shot 4 with the mag.
I was about to comment that shot #4 is what split it lol
Great video still put my money on the 22 mag always liked that little round.
Loving all these videos lately.
Excellent video Who Tee, excellent, and with your permission, I would like to add that whether hunting or using as self defense, shot placement is everything. Thank u.
Some good testing as really like the .22 mag round even though these days most use the .17 hmr round....Good stuff...
@Marino As long as you are out there enjoying your freedoms is all that matters...
I'm a fan of the 5.7 you need to reload that brass. Varmaggedons are my favorite for expansion. The copper alloy penetrate the best the core doesn't really fragment. The speed must have to be above 3000 fps.
00
Love all your tests - great job as usual.
Appreciate you watching
Love it! Gonna have to get a block myself vid makes me wanna see what the 17wsm of mine does on this test.
My go to for gopher, squirrels and rodents is my Henry Varmint .17 HMR. Love that little lever gun. Gophers explode at 100 yards. Fun rifle to shoot
You forgot the 45-70! Personally, I love the .22LR for plinking. I’ve must’ve burned through 1,000,000 rounds of .22LR in my life, and that number is a conservative guess. That represents 2,000 days of shooting a 500 count brick of ammo, and many times I’d shoot three bricks of 500 in one day. My rifle got so dirty, the bolt would hardly move without a good gun cleaning. Ah, good times.
Shot 22lr at a block last week with velocitors and only took 5 shot to split it 25 yards good video love it
“Are we ever gonna run out of ammo” yeah, it’s early 2021 and shelves are dry. 😂
I may have to add a .22 mag to my collection
I wouldn't hold that against you 😎
I have a heritage single action with a 22 mag cylinder that I bought off Ebay when I shot it it sounded exactly like a 9mm sccy and powerful it's a must have
Hard to judge with cinderblocks because depending on where you hit can determine how it cracks,i have the cmmg 300mk57 upper on a spikes tactical punisher lower & i think that the 5.7x28 has a lot more damage rating than any of those rounds, but 22LR & 22 magnum to me are still powerful little rounds,as with realistate its all about location location location,a well placed 22 round can be as deadly as any round when placed in the proper location,of course its no 9mm or higher but can still get the job done. Good video
👍👍
You not shouldering that cmmg. Woblin around like crazy! 😂
love the videos keep up the good work!
Penetration to the second layer should not be expected to be as good with the .17HMR than with the other calibers, due to the .17HMR bullets being designed for energy transfer more than penetration.
And, BTW, the .22 LR actually appears to have broken the block at Shot #6, not #9.
I think it would be fun hanging out with wtw & Paul shooting all day until the ammo was all gone. Too bad I live too far & were all in quarantine still.
Quarantine is when sick people are kept apart from the healthy. God, how our country has become wimpy. In the Hong Kong Flu pandemic of '68 we lost 100K+ Americans and shut down nothing. Look at how the left is using this to reshape how free people become sheep.
@@BillB23 Freedom over death. Opinions will always differ. I guess it boils down to "dead wolf" vs "living sheep" if you insist on simplifying the whole bloomin' thing.
You gay or something?
@@bluefordpickup Not even by a long shot. Are you?

Would love to revisit this with the 22tcm if u or Paul ever get ahold of one 👍 still awesome though, thanks!
The 22lr and 22Mag are both impressive. Good testing.
Thanks for watching Jody!
Try filling the holes with dirt/sand to see a penetration test
THIS......... is about to be a REALLY fun video!
Hey Matt
I always enjoy your videos thank you very much, you always look like you're having fun
Thanks for watching!!!
17hmr is such a perfect squirrel hunting round
We used 22LR then 22 mags well before the 17HMR, but it is best by far.
How about including the price on the 22,22 mag, 17 hmr and the last gun with 40 rds of ammo and the cost of ammo. The 22lr should be 220. 00 new, 22lr 10.00 for 50 rds. NOw you tell us the rest.
I won't be critical of anyone for their preferences in weapons. If one can accept the limitations of a particular caliber and gun, more power to them. I personally like the .22LR and .22Mag. I think the .22LR is underrated.
Wow! $10 for fifty .22LR rounds is beyond anything I ever remember seeing. In the last 25-30 years, my preference has been the Federal 550 round bulkpacks at around $20.
if you paid $10 for 50 22lr rounds then lord help you boy, 500 bricks go for $35-50. wally world had 1400 rnd tubs for $60 all be it not fancy ammo.
Great friend of the 22 stinger. I use it for all types of jobs
Awesome! You should do one comparing different 22lr rounds. I think the velositors will out perform the stingers and in my 22 they are way more accurate than the stingers. Thanks for another fun video. Have a Blessed Day!👍🇺🇸
22mag all day long.
💪💪
We really need to get together and do a shoot. And a hunt. I've got some good bow hunting spots here in NC.
Si es el mejor rifle para la caseria
El 22 magnum mata animal grande i animal chico
Sorry I'm late to watch, I was putting lawn furniture together. Good evening
Summer is coming, so we gotta have our lawns in working order. No need to apologize. At least not in *my* book 😊
Great video. Back when grocery stores ordered manually, instead of computers, we used to buy out-of-date cans of soup. They make great targets with a pretty good visual display when hit. With computers doing the ordering, there's not much overstock these days. If you want to try that, you can probably find some cheap cans of soup at Big Lots or something like it.
You know Ruger has a mk4 pistol with a TEN inch barrel. How much fun would it be if you could chamber it in 5.7x28
728 .. he made a shot thru the last shot . Rapid shooting.. lol ..now that’s good shooting 👍
Hey guys you're all over the place here with this,..the 17HMR did it in 9 shots,..not 10,..just check your video at 4:11 mark.
To do this right, you need to support each end of the block so it's easier to see when the block splits and drops.
But this was a fun video too, you got this right!
The .7x28 was'nt a fair shoot,..you needed a scope on that CMMG to be able to shooting in a straight vertical line,..'cmon now let's do this again! LOL!
I've been wanting a 17 hmr for a long time. Awesome vid !!
I have a Ruger bolt with a thumbhole stock and 40mm scope....like shooting a lazer beam with no recoil....if you can see it up to 100 yards it's dead.
Nice grouping, enjoyable video. 22 WMR is an underrated round. I’ve shot whitetail deer with a 22 LR, but had to place my shot behind the ear, but they were dispatched instantly.
22 mag is my favorite
9 rounds on the 17 I saw it drop. Every gun should have been a bolt action. The 22L was hitting very fast causing massive shock.
In France it is difficult to get firearms and test like you do. At my firing range the manager won't let me bring blocks of concrete, logs, etc. But, thanks to your tests, I know what my 22LR can do with stinger cartridges.
Thanks for watching Roland
All of them are fun to shoot! Each shines in it's special use.
Im sure the 5.7 would have won if the line of shooting was straight, more powerfull than the 22 magum but the 22 mag. is no joke and underrated..
It also gains 200+ fps out of a rifle barrel being the only round shot out a pistol barrel it did all right
Got to think those 22mags were only 30 grain and the 22lr had 32 grain bullotts and the 5.7 had 40 grain..they all have 40 grain but the 17hmr. Bet you he would have used a 40 grain hollow point with the 22 mag he would have turned it in to crumbs.
The 5.7 and .17 are too fast. They don't have the stopping power.
Why no .17wsm? The hmr is meh compared to the hottest of rimfire rounds. I love my Savage BMag for coyote hunting, while I used to use the very satisfactory .22 stinger rounds the screaming over 3000fps .17wsm round extends your range out to around 300yds. I’ve made kill shots on coyotes out to around 200-250yds myself very accurately with little drop, now there’s nothing else I’ll use unless I’m shooting suppressed and then .300blk shines out to 100yds.
This was a very satisfying outcome for me. I have been a twenty two magnum believer ever since I bought my first one, a Winchester model 225 in the early seventies. They are way under-estimated by most shooters, but I have seen some pretty fascinating results from one. Once I shot a sparrow from about fifteen feet away, and all I saw was an explosion of feathers. I couldn't even find the head or legs.
I love them all!
I wonder if you’re testing penetration strength, would concrete or steel be the best way to see which ammo is stronger
That 17 look like it broke it on shot 9.
I thing mini mag would of done better on the 22lr.
I'd love to see a 22mag in that cmmg..
💪💪
Would have*.
The 5.7 is a step up from a rimfire. I wish it was available in more platforms. It would be a really good varmint control gun.
Just my 2 cents.
Unfortunately that damn round is expensive so it's not very practical for rodent when the 22lr is just as good. I believe 5.7 is like 74 cents a round at the moment. It's price is the only reason I haven't dropped 2 grand on a PS90 (which is one of my dream guns).
@@cameronbartlett856, I agree that it’s too expensive. But that aside, the 5.7 could easily be a center fire replacement for 22 LR/22 mag, without jumping up to small rifle calibers, and lose the misfire issues of a rimfire. And it could be reloadable as well. I am just thinking out loud of course, but there is a niche there that this potentially could fill.
At the rate of inflation your comment is now 2.8 cents
neat video, the 22lr and 22 mag are still pretty handy rounds.
how about testing all those cartridges against body armor to which one gets the most penetration with non hollow points
Love my marlin .22 mag i shoot out at 250 yards on the range took some adjustments but got it dialed.
22 mag the favorite good round love hunting with it👍

I have a .22 mag rifle a remington 597 automatic Rare seems nobody makes a 22 mag automatic rifle anymore and i love mine killed a lot of woodchucks with it
I like the 5.7 on the AR platform
Me too
.22 WMR bolt action rifle with scope and bi-pod has been one of the favor assassin weapon since the 60s, for a good reason.
Nice video bro !
I love 22wmr
Go with the..22 magnum!
I've been shooing a 22 WMR in a Winchester Model 9422XTR since the early 80's. It always amazes me what it can do.
You look left handed shooting the .17hmr. Great video.
I'll stick with my 22 and 22 mag. For my needs they are plenty
👍👍
my favorite will always be the .22 Mag
When you showed us the green laser my ass puckered up :D
WTW, I have a request to use the cci 17 hmr 20 grain FMJ on the cinder block against the other rimfires. I don’t know the outcome but the fmj should hold together better than explosive game rounds. Maybe just more penetration.
It actually took 7, 9, 4 and 10.
The .22lr broke it in half in 7 rounds, not 9! And the .22 mag did it in 4. Check your video. You'll see that I am correct..
👍👍
@xeepromx Nope. .22lr only took 7
Great job guys
You could see by the first shot, and especially the second that the .22 mag meant business.
.22 LR took 7 rounds.
Anyone make a semi auto .17hmr pistol?
🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
Yes Savage does, I have one it's called the A17 model
@@rossgreenzweig That's not a pistol, it's a rifle. Currently, as far as I'm aware there's only 2 semi auto 17s, both are rifles. The A17 from Savage and Alexander Arms makes an AR in 17 (gotta have deep pockets for it, though). The only pistols in 17 are revolvers, as far as I know. It's too high pressure to use a simple blowback design like .22 pistols, but not enough pressure to use a locking breech like center fires. So it creates a problem with semi auto designs. But, Heritage does make a 17 single action army pistol that is really nice for its price range, sub $200. PS, I'm a huge 17 fan boy. Love the round
@@APGT90 I'm very sorry your right i honestly didnt see "pistol "
